The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

A pleasure to meet you as well Master Denulia. The wolf shelter you. It is unsettling to be alone in such a place, perhaps if we keep an eye out each for the other it will not seem so overwhelming.

Wyrd says this last part while looking at the squirrel, almost as if he is talking to the squirrel. For its part the squirrel sits up and chitters at Wyrd in a very serious way, then goes back to its acorns.

"Marui, you can't possibly mean that," he sputtered, pale.

"I can and do. It isn't bad enough that we misplaced a child for two years, Hidoki? It's not as if she can't contribute to the clan in other ways," Marui said stubbornly.

Surprisingly, Obaa-sama chuckled. "Always knew Marui-chan wore the pants in your family. And I see where Sakura-Neko gets her stubborn streak."

I like. :)

Vai whispers back, barely surpressing laughter as she sorts through the rack: "You know, in a couple months, no matter what we pick out, she won't look like she just came out of elementary school."

Tyrrin is Neutral with a slight tendancy towards Good, and very Lawful.

Tyrrin is only a little disappointed at having found another new person rather than someone who had been at the school for some time. "Yes, I arrived yesterday evening." she sits down opposite Ghalen. "How have you found the educational value in this school thus far?"

Fieri tried and failed to choke back a fit of giggles.

"That would have to be one precocious elementary schooler."

Ephebe came back out of the dressing room and twirled.

"Okay, so Vai has better taste in clothes than me," she admitted, smiling. "Actually it looks great."

Male Human Gestalt Inquisitor/Dragon Knight 16

"That's a very good question, Tyrrin. So far I've found them quite boring, but there are nuggets of knowledge to glean from the curriculum.
Only the history of Agartha classes are interesting, in my opinion. But, unless there are other places of higher learning on Agartha, apparently this is the best education in the world.
Then again, I've only been here a week. I am probably not the best person to ask.
Now, if you don't mind my asking, you said you were the daughter of a high seer. Is this position an important one? A governmental one?"

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai had barely suppressed the fit of giggles when Ephebe emerged from the dressing room. she had to admit, the pink worked really well on Ephebe. Vai had to admit, while sometimes she didn't like her body, she did like to compare her cleavage to that of her sister. Still, the dress looked good, and she said as much to her. "We picked out a couple other things for you to try."

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Thanks. Looks like it's my turn to be the dress up doll," Ephebe said with a laugh as Fieri started handing her thing. "Hey, one at a time!"

She tried on oufit after outfit and eventually they were able to settle on the ones that worked best for her. Her pile of purchases ended up being just as big as Vai's. Especially since she bought a few green empire waisted sleeveless dresses that she had Fiona alter a bit to make them the same shade of green as the school uniform.

"Okay, I'm worn out," she said flopping down onto a chair. "Fi's turn."

"Yay! My turn!" Fieri said, all smiles as she turned to the rack for her.

"Ooh, nice!" she said, pulling out a shirt that seemed to be mostly holes and chains.

Khassar thinks "Tiger, tiger will you burn bright? Yes you will, when I get a bomb alight. Though trail and tree, is what I see, there is a certainty, that there are three."

Does true seeing change what we see?

It does not. Nice little rhyme by the way.

Oneiro is in the process of making a paper blade when the tigers attack. With the exception of Khasser, everyone is is caught off guard by one or more tigers.

One bursts forth from the foliage to the right of the path, charging straight at Ori. From above another leaps at Jeran, roaring it's hunting cry. Oneiro is caught off guard by the last tigers, and get's clawed twice in the back because of it.

Jeran:

Claw: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Ori:

Claw 1: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 2 = 28
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Claw 2: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 2 = 28
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Bite: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 16 + 2 = 33
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Well, since you don't someone had too. ;p

"What about you two?" Michael asks Kyuu and Aoi. "What's your opinion on this?"

Kyuu shrugged, but Aoi snorted.

"Oh, come on, guys, don't tell me I'm the only one who thinks this is a good thing? The only thing Neko-chan could do really well was disappear and that has pretty much no actual value since she disappears from us too. I mean really, am I the only one who remembers Neko-chan getting tangled in her climbing harness? Or falling into the water so many times she caught a cold because she couldn't master spider walking? Or the cats? Not to mention the rats, grasshoppers, spiders, koi, stray dogs, seagulls.....you know, this list goes on for a while. The point is that there was no way Neko-chan was ever going to be a shinobi. You all used to sit around and talk about it, sounding all worried," Aoi said.

Ori screamed as she was surprised by the tiger suddenly jumping out and clawing and biting her. She struggled to get away from it.

Image

Jeran sidestepped the tiger that had escaped his notice turning and growling at it. He leaped to attack.

Bite: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (16) + 27 = 43
Damage: 5d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 7, 4, 1, 2) + 8 = 24

A copper-scaled kobold enters the cafeteria. He looks at near everyone within with disdainful suspicion. Then he sees Ghalen and Tyrrin, and his reptilian eyes narrow. The little creature heads towards them.

Oops, I forgot something.

DC 22 Knowledge(Nature):
These aren't tigers at all! They are dweomercats!

Barely dodges a claw as he leaps away, Oneiro turns and throws his paper blade at the tiger attacking Ori, making it snarl and turn toward him when the paper cuts deep.

The fighting Jeran screams as it's bitten, but it's hide seems stronger than a tiger's should be. Either way, the bite is far from life threatening.

"Seems like Kitty and I aren't the only ones who think it's a bad idea for her to stay a shinobi." Michael says to Obaa-sama. "What is your decision, sir?"

"Hmmm," Obaa-sama said, not sounding at all pleased. "It seems that I do not have much choice. If Sakura-Neko is to be of any value to the Akuma Clan at all, it must be as something other than a shinobi," he said reluctantly.

He sighed. "A pet shop, eh? Well, if you haven't got one already, I expect to see a proper business plan," he said, looking at Kitty and Michael sharply. "You have until you graduate to get it set up to my satisfaction. I'm not going to invest in some half-assed idea, you know. Harrumph."

Image (doesn't have wings)

Kitty smiled widely.

"Thank you, Obaa-sama," she said with a bow.

"Harrumph," Obaa-sama said again.

"You know," Marui said, "Sakura-Neko, these clothes are absolutely disgraceful. I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of bringing some things along. Nanami told me your measurements." Marui had a smug smile on her face and Hidoki just looked confused.

Male Half-Elf

Michael smiles.

"Thank you." Michael says, bowing as well. Saffire tries to bow too, but his wings unbalance him and he nearly falls. "I could make a familiar for you if you wish. If the kitten I made is any indication, adding a strand of your hair in the creation will make it take after you."

Vai averted her eyes from the chains. Chains brought back... memories. Even those small chains triggered unpleasant memories. Looking at the rack and the choices Fi was making... she wasn't sure if Fi had any license to call Ephebe's sense of style into question. Vai tried to lighten her view of Fieri's outfit with humour. "Fi, I didn't know James liked this sort of thing." she said, playing with a outfit that was particularily chain-y.

Female Elf Gestalt Sorcerer (Starsoul) 16/Oracle (Heavens) 16

Tyrrin MUST have been wrong in her initial assessment of this.. Ghalen. Maybe he stole the suit he wore from someone. If he didn't even know of the High Seers, he could NOT be important. Still, Tyrrin kept up pleasantries. "The High Seers are a council of powerful magic users or psions. They mostly serve the governements of the world in an advisory sense. While they wield no direct power, their counsel is very valuable, and is often followed." Tyrrin ate little during her elaboration, and then saw a kobold approaching her table. The creature was copper-scaled, and was carrying himself with a certain air of arrogance which made Tyrrin doubt that it was merely another student. Ugh. This... Headmaster Ryo had less and less going for him as she learned about the school. "Good morning, sir." Tyrrin says brightly, with only a hint of condesencion slipping in on the last word.

Fieri laughed. "Well, not chains exactly," she said with a wink. "These are just stage clothes. I wear different things for performances than I do normally and the more over the top the better. Actually this is the only arena where Ephebe's fashion sense can be trusted. Stage outfits she seems to get no problem."

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

"I might not be useful here. The thought of going on stage is scary as is, without wearing a costume. I remember your band from the second night I was here though. I...I've never heard music like that before. It was pretty loud."

I'm imagining they play punk-rock type music? Also, ninja'd :]

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Which is why I'm telling you to steer clear of the chains. Aside from the fact that they're making Vai uncomfortable, they won't work well with heat. And you use fire in your performances. Also, chains are kind of Spike's thing. He'll be pissed and you'll have more drama to deal with. Here, try these," she said, shoving a pair of snakeskin leggings at Fieri. "And put it together with this," she added, pulling out some ridiculously high helled boots and a shirt made of what might have been some kind of safety harness.

Yep, that's pretty much accurate.

"I like loud," Feiri said cheerfully taking the seemingly garish outift from Ephebe. "Growing up it was all chamber music all the time. Not any more."

She goes to try on the outfit and comes back out examining her reflection critically in the mirror.

"It's kinda edgy."

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe shrugged. "Rock stars and demons dress pretty much alike."

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

"There are lots of things that make me uncomfortable." Vai says quietly, "But that doesn't mean people should have to tread on tiptoe around me. That'd be even worse." Vai looked at the costume Ephebe had picked out, but couldn't see the appeal. As expected, she couldn't say much that was helpful about the costume. She shruged.

Image

"I like the pants, but this shirt is a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen...and James would freak out about that...let me try it with that grey shirt with the safety pins, 'kay?"

"And we'll try not to tiptoe around you, Vai, but we care about you, so we don't like to do stuff we know makes you uncomfortable," she said, changing shirts right there without bothering to go back into the dressing room.

The kobold's scare tactics wouldn't work on Tyrrin. She was less worried about her own sense, and more what his VERSION of sense might be. Either way, there was nothing to be gained by responding to kobold's goading now. So Tyrrin simply nodded, before turning back to Ghalen, waiting for the kobold to be out of earshot before saying: "Can you believe they allow kobolds to teach here? Nasty scaly things."

Reading the question, Wyrd looks back to Ehos.

I honestly do not know what I am, not entirely. I know that when I am in a natural setting I am far more comfortable than I am otherwise, and despite my form, animals seem unafraid of me and sometimes seem to understand what I am saying. As far as I know I do not understand them.

As Wyrd finishes the squirrel looks up at his face and chitters something softly, then takes what is left of the acorns and scampers back into the trees.
