Ghalen Kiln |
'Rampaging...' the dragon's spirit scoffs
"Interesting."
::Which world could we be on, where townsfolk think they can sto pdragons with pitchforks?::
'D~#%& 7, perhaps...?'
"So you all plan to storm a possibly dragon-controlled place with torches and pitchforks. What color are the dragons?"
Ghalen Kiln |
'He either is stupid, or we are still a thing of legend on this world"
::Impossible...?::
"Yeah, I like to think they're all red and menacing I guess. So you think the dragons 'changed the sky'?"
narrator |
"Must be somefing wrong with the paints in yer storybooks then. Mine was allas purple....not that anyone's actually laid eyes on a dragon in scores of year," the old man admitted reluctantly.
"We weren't talking aboot dragons changing the sky. Those dem Avalon folks are who did it, I'm sure of it. It got all....big...and there's weird little points of light. 'T'ain't natural....." he said looking at the sky with barely disguised terror.
Ghalen Kiln |
oh missed something important
"Oh, right...Purple dragons..."
::Purple dragons?::
'Not chromatic or metallic. There were some purple variety of gem dragon, but they are extinct, if memory serves.'
"You said Avalon had dragons, but you haven't seen them..."
Looks up, and nods toward the sky...
"Used to look way different, huh?"
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (4) + 26 = 30 Bluff
::This group of people is either insane or they've been living in a cave.::
'Perhaps they are right in the fact taht the answers can be found at Avalon.'
::Right::
"You know the lights are kinda pretty...maybe they didn't break the sky, maybe they fixed it?"
1d20 + 26 ⇒ (18) + 26 = 44Diplomacy
narrator |
"Are ye mad???! It's....it's too....big," the old man squeaked, looking up at the sky in trepidation.
"Aye," one of the other townsfolk chimed in. "And Crazy Louie the gnome can't see the other side of the world even with his best telescope."
"Maybe they blowed it up!"
"Ach, now ye're just talking crazy, ye can't go blowing up a world. 'T'ain't possible."
The diplomacy check keeps them talking to you calmly for now, but they're too riled up to think this change is a good thing.:)
Ghalen Kiln |
He boggles at seeing the other side of the world...
'Ask him if they could see the other side past the sun'
"You mean he could see the other side, past the sun?"
Sytt, Lesser Yugoloth |
Meanwhile, in the city, Sytt is having an awkward time at his bar. People are angry, and people know Sytt--a rather demon-like individual--has had dealings with the school. Sytt has beaten back three attempts on his life already, and one of them was pretty close.
"What in Abaddon are those morons up to?..." he mutters to himself.
Ghalen Kiln |
Spent most of his life as part of a dragon-ruled space empire...
'Very interesting'
::What?::
'What he's describing is theoretical science...an inverted world built around a sun.'
::That would be rediculously large...<looks around>...the horizon doesn't seem that far off::
'Yes, well he said the sun was put out nightly...'
::You're buying this?::
'How would your reaction be if your world was literaly turned inside out? Somewhat like this, I would imagine, were you an ignorant peseant on a low tech world...'
::What could do that?! The power required would be...::
"When did this happen?" he asked the man excitedly.
Ephebe |
"Ummm....I might know some ways to inflict bad luck on intruders....but I'd rather keep them on world. It's better for everyone if I can personally keep an eye on them. They....don't work well unsupervised. Or they work very well but not in any way that you would want."
Ghalen Kiln |
::Hmmm...maybe this is where the anomaly came from?::
'That was a couple days ago...not hours.'
::Well we didn't exactly take a shuttle to get here, did we?::
'Your powers of observation are epoch making...'
::I'm just saying...Ok, we'll look into it more...::
"Well, I don't know about you but I'm gonna get out from under the wierd sky..." he says to those around him. He makes a wide circuit around the crowd, then heads toward Avalon 'over yonder'.
narrator |
The kitchen emptied out quickly as everyone headed off to get to work making defenses. Ryleh headed down to the basement to prepare crystals to be sent out to form the early warning system.
Jiminy and Aananda headed for the workshop to work on getting some prototypes up and running, Fieri tagging along to make sure they occasionally stopped to eat and to head off anyone trying to bother them.
DM DarknLight |
"I had asked my brother, everything I needed to know, before you had left. It is fine, I believe there is much confusion going on. Which I believe you are dealing with. As to what you said before you left my daughter and son are not like my brother. He is very unique among our race it would seem." Caedes pauses for a moment to think on what he had heard once more before saying "Again I ask who are the leaders of this world, I have a request to ask of them."
Krays |
"I'm ok with downtime..."
Tamrin - Gunslinger of Tomorrow |
Tamrin smiles as he leaves his daughter, Krays and Ruji in the kitchen and heads outside. He contacts the Harbinger and makes the necessary arrangements to coordinate their operations with his family's, then walks into the garden and sits down on one of the stone benches.
There, out of the sight of everyone depending on him to keep it together, his shoulders slump and he buries his head in his hands. A ragged breath escapes him as he tries to stop understanding the 'why' of this and focus his energy on repairing the damage his son caused to the people of Agartha...and to his own family...
Vai Emkar |
Phaeze smiles at Vai, Headmaster Ryo says he cannot find you. That should keep you safe from this person. I will renew the effect tomorrow evening. I will also begin investigating a way to make the effect last longer. Sleep well Vai.
"Thank you Phaeze, you're a good friend." Vai says with a smile before entering her room to change and fall asleep.
Khassar Blackadder |
Perception1d20 + 31 ⇒ (1) + 31 = 32
Upon seeing the mob, :"I suppose the rest of them are rather distraght over this mess so I should take care of it.": to Nexiv
Receives a telepathic dirty look.
:"What? Yes, I remember the Callune incident. This is completely different.":
Receives the telepathic equivalant of "whatever" followed by a more subdued "crazy bird always has to interfere"
:"I heard that.":he says as he lands out of bow range but but still between the mob and the school.
Ghalen Kiln |
You'd see Ghalen out ahead of the mob a ways, heading toward the school, at a quick pace.
Khassar Blackadder |
Picture the scene if you will, on the one side is a mob. On the other side is a big black bird dressed in what could be armor and a kilt both of which are colored in a rather tacky purple and green jesters motley(or rather decent cameoflage if you think about it). Would they really send someone who looked like this if anyone better was available?
To the crowd "Alright, that's far enough. Since you all seem to have so much energy, you're all conscripted. Go home, go to bed, and report back tomorrow morning. I'm sure the headmaster will discuss pay with you then."
Agarthian Storyteller |
"Um, sir?" Tamrin hears a timid voice from his wrist comm. "I've got a report here... Fain said I should get used to using the comms and this might be a bit of good news, didn't say why..."
"Ahem. Approximately one half-hour ago, an assassination attempt was carried out against the Dragon Emeperor Mezzenbone." The new recruit says, voice becoming more stable now that he's reading off the report. "While the attempt failed Mezzenbone was caught off-guard and wounded to the point security has been increased quite a bit. Various reports state that the would-be assassins numbered anywhere between four and fifteen people and incapacitated several guards without raising any of the alarms. A substantial reward has been issued for their capture, and it doubles if they are brought in alive."
Ghalen Kiln |
"Umm...I'm not with them..." and warily attempts to continue on...
Ghalen Kiln |
"Errm...indeed, thank you."
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (12) + 33 = 45
Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (5) + 33 = 38 to try to figure out what it is that's talking to him...
::Interesting...a half dragon, half...bird humanoid, possibly Tengu?::
'Disgusting.'
::Regardless, dragons msut be present for that to occur...::
He moves on toward the school...
Tamrin - Gunslinger of Tomorrow |
Tamrin just raises his head and shakes it. "And the hits just keep on coming...," he mutters to himself as he opens the secure channel.
"No, son, that is most certainly not a bit of good news. That means Mezzenbone's going to be setting the IPSD loose to hunt down every single lead and instance of disloyal behavior to find those responsible for humiliating him. Which means the precious few limits those drow psychopaths have on them just got removed."
"Tell Fivain to notify all of our sleepers to be on their guard, and to stay dark as much as possible unless they have some kind of intel on the individuals that did this. That information gets funneled to me by the most safe and secure means necessary. Understood?"
Tamrin - Gunslinger of Tomorrow |
"Y-yes sir! Right away!" The cadet replies, starting to send word to Fivain before remembering Tamrin was still on the line. "Is there anything else, sir?"
"Yeah - pray that we'll all be lucky enough to survive the storm that just got unleashed. GS-1 Out."
Ephebe |
Ephebe brushed Ruji's fur in silence for a couple of minutes.
"Krays? I know this is kind of a weird time to bring this up, but I just need to talk about something other than betrayal and destruction for a bit."
"I think I will change my name. It's not cause I'm unhappy with my name as it is, though Taron certainly did his share to tarnish the family name. But...when everything was falling apart and you were in the middle of dealing with another crisis, you still dropped everything to be with me. And I realized that no matter what happens that you're my family now. So that's why. Cheesy, but true," she added with a lopsided smile. "Although it still sounds weird. Ephebe Blackscales. .....yeah, that's gonna take some getting used to."
Agarthian Storyteller |
The crowd murmured loudly, sounds of discontent and anger coming to a boil.
"And why should we believe the bird thing, eh?"
"Yeah, that's right, the only thing we need protected from is that dem school!"
"We ain't gonna stand for it anymore!"
"YEAH!!!"
Likified.
