The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Okay, I get the need to send things against us that are really strong, but holy cow! Just looking at the things stats is making me wonder who in the world managed to get it in here!

The deaths will be awesome!

What? The last three things these guys decimated were only three CR below this and there's an added person now.....besides you guys always smoke the totally epic stuff...it's the mildly souped up normal stuff that kills party members...every fricking time... -.-

oh, we can handle this? Okay, let's say I run up to attack it... and enter the Confusion aura I can't make the save against. Ignore the usual table to figure out what I do, there are two dragons in the room.

The fight becomes an even 2v2 fight at that point. Not that I would mind of course... I'm just saying that fights like this are likely the reason Hunters attacked the young first.

Confusion is more 'insanity' than 'confusing'. I'm not sure disregarding the table is necessary.
Scenario: We're facing normal Hunters, and someone casts confusion on them. Bam, they just keep attacking. Hunters are now effectively immune.
If someone casts confusion on Vakkler, he's not going to start yelling at people. He's going to 1d4 ⇒ 1 act normally.
Okay, bad example. But the point stands. :P

So, Vakkler, what are you doing right now? Haven't seen you going around shouting at students in a while.

I thought I was following the stupid student, but I guess we got separated. Now I'm patrolling the halls.

After things start to slow down and a majority of the students have been checked and healed, Ryo turns his attention to the newcomer and his armored companions.

"Hello." He says to them both. "Is there a reason you are here? You are not a teacher or a student."

"Ah well I am hoping to change that. I am Filne Nathton, a mage and lorekeeper of the elven people among other things. I have come here to inquire about a teaching position."

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. And remember, both of those dragons are powerful clerics or cleric-equivalent more accurately. In other words, they have access to magic that would undo the confusion effect. I'm not saying there aren't possible problems. but I think you guys can handle this.

As he sits in the auditorium waiting for the roll call to be over, Enre sees the room around him going dim. He seems to be standing on an old battlefield and before him is an imposing figure glowing brightly. Its robes were dark and the large sword it carried was of some dark metal that Enre didn't recognize, a huge blood red ruby as its pommel. The beings wings beat, stirring up a dust cloud from the battlefield below it.

Ryo gets a strange feeling from his mind as if it is not all there but at the same time as if it holds a huge amount of experiences. None the less all he gets is a feeling as he cant break thru. Filne gives a slight smile.

"No doubt that was interesting. I assure you I cant be possessed, well not by fiends I do enjoy gardening a bit to much at times. I would be glad to teach anything that I have expertise in. If you do not mind could we go somewhere private when you have time. I feel compelled to make you aware of a few minor details about myself. Best to make an informed decision after all."

No worries. So was I when I wrote that. I realized that if I listened to the prof any more I was never going to figure out the lesson. It would really help if he would stop telling us wrong stuff on purpose. It doesn't aid in learning, it aids in bad test scores. >.<

"This is my realm. I ....have not had a name in a very long time. Some creatures who wished for some of my power took my last name as their own. Perhaps you will find a new name for me. I am Wrath, Retribution, Vengeance, Anger. A combination of these. Wrath will do. You are to be my Champion. You are well suited to meting out vengeance to Madness for his crimes. So I appoint you to this task above all others."

Oh yeah that is a big problem. I tend to just read the book.

Enre thinks to himself as he listens to the being who named itself Wrath "Champion? Madness?" He than focuses on the names it gave itself thinking "Wrath, Retribution,Vengeance, and Anger?" He recalls his youth often being bullied until he finally stood up to them to protect Ileana. He than says "I am well suited? To met out vengeance against this Madness? Why me?"

Could change his sword to look a bit like Wrath's. Mine currently is a big heavy thing without a guard on it that is a dark grey.

Consciousness slowly drifts back into Vai's being. She was ready for the pain... but it never came. Her eyes fluttered open. Expecting to see the dark ceiling, Vai is half-blinded by the bright lights of the infirmary. Her thoughts raced. Where was she, why was she here? Was this some new game of Aegythrax's? She sat bolt upright, unrestrained for the first time in a very long time. Not seeing anyone at first, she called out. "Hello?" her voice was a little hoarse from underusage "is anyone there?"

"Indeed." Ryo says, wondering how this person would react if he had used his full psychic might. A door appears next to him and opens on it's own, revealing Ryo office. "We can use my office."

Vai Emkar wrote:

A nurse hurries into the room.

"Dear, you really should lay back down. The nanites aren't quite finished healing you yet." She says as she checks Vai's vitals. "Would you like something to eat or drink?"

"You need to put off the plan for a while." Alton says as he walks into a room holding a bandaged rat. The person he's talking to looks up with annoyed anger in their eyes. "Don't get me wrong, I still want it to happen, but none of us are in the condition needed for it to work. This invasion couldn't have come at a worse time."

"Thanks, oh yeah I think it best if its just me."

He nods at the winged being who disappears in reply.

The door closes as Ryo enters and takes his seat behind his desk, gesturing for Filne to sit in an empty chair as well, if he is so inclined.

"So, straight to the point, what details do I need to be made aware of?"

Vai flinches as the nurse speaks, but then speaks up: "If you have any water, I would like that. I don't feel hungry at the moment." Vai pauses for a second, looking around the clean, well-kept infirmary. "Where am I? What happened to Aegythrax?"

"I don't know who that is, dear, but you are in Avalon Academy. Maybe you've heard of it? It's one of the best places of education if you can stand the chaos that always seems to be going on." The nurse walks into another room and returns with a glass of water for Vai. "

Vai's unease grew. If she didn't know about the dragon... who did? What were they planning to do with her? Panic started to well up within Vai. They were just new masters. Making sure she was healthy so they could do what they would with her. "I see..." was all she said, flexing her muscles and making sure everything was working. She'd only get one chance to escape.

"Hang on a sec," Tamrin says to the figure on the monitor as he checks is datapad bracer.

"It looks like she's awake. Let me go check up on her and we'll pick this up later. Let me know if you find anything else we need to know about in her medical logs. Thanks Mordecai."

He gets up from the desk, and makes his way back to the Infirmary. After a quick cleanse cantrip to sterilize, he enters the ICU and Vai's room.

Vai sees a red-headed elf in an armored flightsuit with a duster over it. He has some sort of computerized bracers on, and what looks like some kind of antique gun strapped to his left hip. He smiles warmly, his demeanor very relaxed and non-threatening.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Emkar. My name's Tamrin, and I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm sorry for the drastic change in venue, but Aegythrax's lair was no longer fit for occupation when my team found you," he says apologetically.

"I'm pretty sure you have a ton of questions for me, so I'll do my best to answer them for you. I'll go ahead and take care of the big one first, though - Aegythrax is not here. I'm sad to say we didn't take care of him permanently, but he's gone and you're in a safe place where he won't ever get his claws on you again."

"You know this young lady then, Professor Sunwake?" The nurse asks. "I'll go to some of the others that are here for now then. Call if you need anything." She tells Vai before she leaves.

Aananda pored over video files, absorbing them at a rate that most would find alarming, a skill she had learned from her mother who often monitored more than a dozen visual feeds at once. There were a few rather disturbing things here that she needed to speak with Ryo about.

She spoke into her wrist comm.

"Ryo, we need to detain a student by the name of David Therophenes. I believe he is the source of the strange readings I was getting. Visuals confirm he was confronted by a fiend during the attack, but then I get a moment of static and the fiend is gone, but David is still standing there. Also, we need to schedule a conference with Vakkler and Michael Dacamara. I'm still working at retrieving audio, but visuals show a pretty nasty showdown between the two of them. And Dacamara has a lot more power than we previously guessed. He's the source of the earthbending that caused the unstable floors. I'm heading to the auditorium to find Therophenes now."

Aananda took an abrupt turn as soon as she saw the red door, heading through it straight to the auditorium. There were so many children here. In a flash Lysander takes a small, sand-colored cude from his pocket and throws it to the ground. The instant it hits the floor it explodes into a mini-desert in the hallway, complete with an almost opressive heat.

The heat seems to weave around Lysander as he runs across the sand toward the beast, a strange blade sliding from the empty hilt he carries. Halfway to the creature, there seems to be more than one Lysander.

Just going with the Amulet blocking the Confusion aura. Activating the Judgments Destruction, Justice, and Protection. Raging. Displaced

Damage:1d8 + 8 + 2 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 2 + 3 + 6 = 20

His attack bounces off the creature's tough hide though.

David looks alarmed.

"Wah what are you talking about?"

He starts to back away from her until he hits a wall. Suddenly a pair of arms break thru to grab him and pull him thru. The rubble blocks the hole made as David is thrown into the room landing hard on his side and rolling away, he slowly get up to see a tiefling.

"Found you!"

David lets a slight smile play on his lips before hiding it in the blink of an eye. Simple half breed was strong but stupid, likely had some demon blood in him. He made a good pawn.

"Ah help the demon calling tiefling is trying to kill me!"

He runs for the near by door screaming as he goes.

I am guessing there is no proof about david sense the pit fiends ability grants him davids mind, body, and soul. It is not a possession and he only registers as david would. Let me know otherwise.

"It's definitely one of the stranger things I've seen. Let's go save a student." The room around them shifts, buckles, and warps before it stops and both Ryo and Filne are in the same room as Aananda. "The demon is still in David, I assume?" Ryo asks Aananda as he seals off the door David is running for. "We have a bit of an expert on getting it out with us now."

"Who is that, by the way?" He asks as he points to the unfamiliar tiefling.

"Not sure about the tiefling. We can sort that out later. And yes, the demon is still inside David. A child doesn't smile evilly before screaming in terror that the scary tiefling is out to get him," she said, stomping lightly, causing walls to come up from the ground, completely sectioning off this corridor so that David had no where to go.

His mind at least would have to be distinguishable. And Aananda has been to this dance before with a demon that makes that pit fiend look like child's play.
