The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Ryleh rejoined Havel in the waiting area at the front. "The doctor is going to run some tests. He will have suggestions for a treatment plan after those tests are through. It will take a day or two for the tests to run. If there is anything else of the school that you wish to see, then I am happy to show you. Or you can return to the rest of your group and tell them what you saw here. We will be most happy to welcome any or all of you as students."

The Exchange

The Champion of Balance sat on a wall outside the school and stared at all that was in his view. There was so much work to do, especially elsewhere. He could feel the imbalance slowly creeping towards him and touched the tattoo of scales on his arm. When his Patron was ready to act he'd have to be ready. Until then he didn't have to worry about anything too much.

With that in mind Anwar hopped off the wall and went to see what new kind of food was around in the millennia. He was, figuratively, starving!

vriskra fidgets.

"I was..."
vriskra falls silent, fidgeting some more.
"... Nevermind."

He raises a thumb to his chin. "Oh...you were as well...my apologies. I did not intend to make light of your difficulties."

"I was..."
viskra takes a sharp breath.
"I was born alone in the deep reaches of space. I know not my parents, only a few songs they left behind in my mind. I flew around, alone, for a time. I don't know how long. There was no way of measuring. I've only been able to measure six years of my life, so I suppose that makes me six? All the rest of the time has no frame of reference."

Male Maftet 16 Stalker (umbral blade)/Dread

He stares somewhat blankly at Viskra. He may not have any concept of "space" other than the night sky.

vriskra points to the sky with a wing.
"I came from up there. Way, way up there."

Male Maftet 16 Stalker (umbral blade)/Dread

Looks up, and stares into the sky.
"How far up? If I go to high, it gets too cold and difficult to breathe. Well, it does since the sky changed, anyway. Are you from the new sky beyond?"

He chuckles and stands, brushing himself down a bit.

"Yeah, I wish I had that sense of timing."
He takes her hand, but doesn't assume any sort of position more than that.
"Are you going to lead, or should I? Or is that still a thing?"

"It's normal for the guy to lead...but this is a casual party so I doubt it's an issue either way. Slow dances are easier. I'll show you the steps for the most common tempos, but honestly don't worry if you forget. Some people just sort of shuffle sway their way through those kind of songs. She nodded. "It's a fair concern and one that I have considered. Phaezeriel is my first choice to perform the procedure. But if he has changed In personality as well as form due to his current transformation...Miss Jones could also do it. She has been on edge lately, and it is a delicate operation, so I would rather not ask it of her if I don't have to. But that remains my contingency plan if it becomes necessary."

Sun simulation description:
The buildings and even the paving stones....everything is made out of pure white stone with decorations done in metal or tile adding color. Artwork is everywhere. In the poorer areas, the art is simpler and generally just painted on the buildings. In public squares there are statues and gardens planted in decorative patterns, even mosaics set into the floor. In wealthier areas the art is more complex as is the architecture, and there are a great many columns and arches throughout. The entire place can easily feel like a giant labyrinth as paths and roads wind around and up and down due to the whole place being built in a sphere. There are several balconies built throughout the structure to provide both views and landing/takeoff platforms. It would often be easier to fly from one area of the sun to another rather than taking the winding, twisting paths through the interior. There are several doors marked with a golden sun that cannot be opened. There is no sign of any kind of machinery and no clues as to how the whole thing actually worked.
Only the Elders had access to the machinery and this simulation was made by those who lived there but were not Elders, so they genuinely don't know what was behind the sealed doors of the Sacred Flame.

"Ok, stop me if you've had this biology lesson before, but if not: All the cells in a living creature have a purpose. Skin cells are different from brain cells and other organ cells and so on. But when a creature is young, it has something called Stem Cells, which are cells that don't have a purpose yet, they turn into other cells as needed. Now, I haven't done a whole lot of research on what exactly I am now, but I have figured out that I'm mostly made of stem cells and magic now, so I can shift things into new limbs and organs if I concentrate on it, but I've worked out how to do this too."

He holds his hands together and forms a little blob of blue jelly between them before setting it on the table. It grows a little on its own and turns a bit longer, developing limbs and some definition of form over the course of a few seconds until a little, blue jelly ferret is sitting on the table between them.

"I can kinda program a group of cells to take a certain shape. It lasts for a while and then evaporates kinda like hand sanitizer. They act more or less like summoned creatures."

He leads the ferret around in a circle with his finger to demonstrate that it takes commands.

This is his Summon Monster equivalent.

The guards with the leaf pins literally run away from their posts, leaving the perimeter woefully undefended. The remaining guards fight valiantly, especially given Fei's bolstering, but they can't hold the perimeter. Ace is able to slow one squad with his shout, but two squads near the edges are able to get past the defenders and are heading into the crowds.

I've been a bit stuck on how to do this since the combat rules don't lend themselves well to dealing with armies, so now I'm just improvising. The actions of the PCs has a big impact on the overall battle and did in this round in particular since there are three squads that would have got through that didn't. I'll try and remember to call that stuff out so you can at least have some idea of how much impact t you're having. The percentage rolls are there to represent the actions of random chance and in this case didn't go in y'all's favor.

Tyrrin communicated Ghalen's warning to her mother who started snapping orders.

"Everyone evacuate to the city now!" the High Seer said, her warning coming just a little too late as guards started fleeing into the crowd and drow broke through the lines and started attacking civilians who were too slow to flee.

She handed the baby to one of her aides with an instruction to keep her safe before ordering the guards holding Ehos to take him to safety immediately. "Ghalen, I'm trusting you to keep Tyrrin safe. Tyrrin, I need you to go as well. No arguments. There is a traitor in our midst and you need to find them."

Jaiye stops, the demon temporarily in an arm lock, not that the succubus was fighting much right now. She looked at the demon in distaste. "We need to to call a truce. Temporarily. And no, killing me or causing me to get killed won't help you. Check the spells on the manacles. If I die before the manacles are released, you get a one way ticket to Heaven."
The succubus made a face. "B&%+~," she growled.
"Yep," Jaiye agreed. "And we can resume our argument later. But right now you don't have a lot of choices except cooperation."

Then I shall endeavor to remove the mass combat 'problem' from this encounter forthwith...

As the outlying units of drow skirt the defensive line and start attacking the crowds, Fei orders the nanites that have all but 'consumed' the drills to split into two groups.

One group is joined by the small group of their kind that went into the tunnels to identify the attackers - they share all of the scanned data of these drow across the entire nanite network, building an attack profile that will only target the dark elf attackers. This group then races into the crowd in the wake of one of the drow squads, hunting them down specifically. They tear into the invaders like a flensing wind, fusing the joints in their armor and hardening the fabrics of their clothing to imprison them in their own garments and remove their ability to harm the civlians.

The nanites are basically using the materials they just consumed (and the drows' own gear) to fabricate restraints and effectively 'hogtie' all of the squad so they cannot move or make any more attacks.

The other group changes mission parameter, and uses the remaining materials from the drow drills to begin replicating at speed.

Jasper picks up the dances fairly well. It takes him a few tries to not step up into the air every third count, but he gets used to it eventually. Once she's hum a song for a few bars, he picks it up, being a natural mimic, literally. At least, half of him is. His voice isn't too bad, but he's right between a baritone and a tenor, which doesn't leave much room for a good range.
