"In answer to your unspoken question, no, it's not like that. She's my best friend. Zero romantic attachment there. But yeah, she's special to me. When I was trying to push everyone away to save them from Esperanza's cruelty, Kitty saw right through my act and made sure I was never totally alone. The only reason you haven't heard me mention her before is because we haven't had a lot of personal conversations yet. We were in pretty different age groups at home, since you're so much older than me. Let's face it, if I aged like a normal kitsune I'd be like two feet tall right now and learning the most basic things. Instead I've got a nearly adult body, the powers of an elder, and zero idea what I'm doing," he said with a slight grimace. "And we haven't socialized much since you got here. But I'm trying to make up for that now. And I'll make sure to introduce you to Kitty as soon as I can manage it. I'd introduce you to my other friends too ...if I had any. I've got some people I know, but I'm still dealing with the fallout of acting like a massive jerk for more than a year, no matter how good the reasons for it were."

Alys smiles playfully, laughing a little as he starts to explain his relationship with Kitty. Her mirth fades pretty quickly with the serious subjects that follow. She nods and murmurs a quiet but unintelligible comment a couple of times. When he finishes, she puts a hand on his arm for a moment; an uncharacteristically open show of affection. She writes for several minutes, occasionally saying things under her breath, the sounds of which indicate that they are curses. The note spans a a couple of pages in her tablet, I am very glad to have you here, Keme, overgrown pup though you are. I was worried that there would be no one here aside from Uncle Genosuke with whom I could speak easily. He is a little imposing! I will be happy to meet your friend; if she is as steadfast as you say, I will be very happy, indeed,...

Keme smiled when he read all the way through the note. "Wow, I just doubled the number of friends I have," he said, joking a little bit. "Well, I'd say that makes this a pretty good day. I'm glad you're here too, Alys. It's easier here in some ways. Not being the only one around who can be considered a 'freak'. Surrounded by so many others who are all different too...it helps things seem a little more normal. And if you're going to find anyone who can help you communicate better with others, then this is the place. I'll help too in whatever ways I can. And you're right about Grandfather. He can be intimidating at first. But he cares about us too. He and I argue a lot because we're both really stubborn. I know, big surprise," he says with a cheeky grin. "It's not like anyone else in our whole family is stubborn at all," he continued sarcastically. "It's not a family trait at all."

Lang sat a bit as the two girls talked. looking to Phaedra, ya know what, Sun taught me that having special powers does not make anyone special. I didn't ask you to be friends because of any powers. in fact I had another friend that really had no abilities at all, and I would trust her with my life.

She gave him an odd look. This idea went very contrary to what she'd experienced in her life so far. "Well, er, that's good?" she said, uncertain how exactly to respond, and totally floundering.

Awkward girl is awkward....

Cindra smiles at Lang and Sun, "What makes a person special is not what they can do, but who they are. It took a long time for me to understand that, my family being how they are."

Phaedra's facial expressions clearly displayed her internal conflict as she tried to accept this way of thinking, but wasn't really quite getting there yet. But she didn't argue with her cousin. Which was a step in the right direction.

"Do you have any plans for today?" Phaedra asked, changing the subject. "I was trying to figure out what to do. I don't want to just sit around. It's a nice day. Maybe we can play outside?" she asked hopefully. A week of mostly being cooped up inside was definitely wearing on her.

I'll gladly offer to spend an afternoon/evening among the bookshelves to see if I can find anything to help you, once I get back from the festival I am attending later today."
"If nothing else, we can find the research notes of the scientists who experimented on you. The library really does have every book in existence. It might help. It certainly can't hurt. Better information can only help design better treatments, right?"
"Those notes might help Nala and this other healer she mentioned, Fays Rel or something, but I don't...

Ginni blinked. Well, that was a lot to take in. It sounded like Jessa was even more messed up than she was. "Well, I'm not going to the festival thing today, so I can start looking for those records for you today if you want. You don't have to read them if you don't want. We can just find them and deliver them to the right people. Nala and Phaezeriel. He's really good at dealing with psychic trauma. Except he's kinda in a cocoon at the moment. He helped me get through my transformation, but all the demonic energy wasn't good for him. Hopefully he'll be alright soon," she said, worried.

Jeran walked slowly on his way back to the school. It was weird. He'd gotten so used to being responsible for Cho, that not having to take care of her seemed strange. Finding out that the whole contest had been a lie rigged up by extradimensional beings sussing out weaknesses still left a bad taste in his mouth. It had taken Ephebe a while to convince him that it was true. He worried about the angel that helped him. She said that she had informed Heaven to keep an eye out for him. And that she'd given them the address of the daemon that had attacked the school and destroyed his mech. Apparently Heaven and Hell both had rules about nobody from either side attacking this place. It had taken longer to convince him that Cho would be safe away from Avalon, but he had to admit that the family that had agreed to take care of her seemed very caring and supportive. They had lost their child in the plague and felt that caring for Cho would give them some sense of purpose. With their help and with continued medical treatments, Ephebe had assured him that the girl would eventually gain some measure of independence, although her intellectual development was permanently stunted. He sighed. Well, he had done some good then, keeping her safe from a senseless death for a contest that wasn't even real. And now he could finally turn his attention back to his responsibilities as a pilot, not to mention training the new recruits. That was a lot easier than taking care of Cho.

That doesn't last long, though, as she starts to walk about the grounds, inspecting the place. She doesn't seem to act as if she was odd or unwelcome at all, walking confidently as if she had been here for ages. She watches the various other students on the grounds with a distant and slightly cold glance here and there, as the starts walking around the school, inspecting the building.

"I told her to do no such thing!" interjects the demon lord again, before Anubis chimes in with "yes you did. Just last week." "but that was last week, not th-" before maya interrupts.

He seems to like shiny stuff. Might be the only person I've met who might possibly like glitter as much as I do. Maybe. That's a pretty high bar. Anyways, the guide says that Goblintown has a lot of rare and magical stuff, so that should definitely be interesting. Come on, then, let's go to the Bazaar first and see how it stacks up to the one that you remember," she said, leading the way to the tram for that section. The lines were processed quickly so they didn't have long to wait before being crammed into a full car that shot out from the station so quickly all you could see from the windows was a blur. If you could get a glimpse of the windows through your fellow passengers. In spite of the speed of the car, it glided to a gentle stop and the passengers were hurried off so that new passengers could get on. Once they were off of the platform, the scenery changed pretty drastically from the ultra-modern spaceport look. The whole section looked like it was full of ancient buildings. There were columns and arches and the occasional section of potted palms. The place was laid out like a big square, with the buildings all around and shops lining the entire perimeter. There were wide staircases up to a second level of shops as well. And in the center were row upon row of colorful booths. The air smelled of spices and incense, and honestly a bit too much body odor. This section was kept quite warm and it was full of people. There were a couple of raised stages in the center where performers could attract a crowd. Currently there was a snake charmer on one stage and a group of dancers whirling around on another. You had to get close to the stages to hear anything from them, though, because the din of merchants trying to attract the attention of their customers was hard to hear anything over.

Appearing out of thin air, a barefoot, slim, freckled girl with wavy, shoulder length cornsilk colored hair, that is wearing a simple sundress arrives at Avalon. She looks around, at first, trying to get her bearings. She smiles at the few random students she runs into, but continues on, mentally mapping out the place. She arrives at some kind of a knowledge repository, and begins looking around for books of a historical nature, feeling the need to get up to speed on this world and the school as quickly as possible.

"Ryuzo, did I miss some bad news while I was in work mode?" she asked, her voice a bit strained.

You really are in the best place to recover...listen, Jessa. I hope this isn't too forward, but I'd like it if we could hang out some time, together. Wherever you feel comfortable, and if you need to run it past Nala first, then that's ok too...would that be ok?"
Jessa stares down at her tray for a moment, then nods quickly, "I .. I think .. Yes. I think I would like that." She seems like she might say something else, but instead remains quiet.

Ginni smiled.

When they arrive in the bazaar, Andromeda has to pull him by the hand as he gawks at the sights.
"It's just like back home... Well, it smells better. And... It's kind of like a painting of back home. Everything seems more... Planned... I guess touristy is the word I would use."
He looks back to her. "But still, I'm glad we're here. Thanks for this."

Andromeda grinned. "You're welcome. Although I'm not sure how much credit I really deserve since I had no idea this place would be so similar to your home. So, yay for coincidences," she said with a laugh. "Here, this place over here," she said pointing to one of the shops along the wall. "It says they buy antiques. Let's see if we can sell your statue over here."

The shop she pointed out was surprisingly understated in the middle of other shops all trying to attract more attention. There was no one outside yelling for customers. There was only a small sign in the window saying that they buy antiques, and no shop sign at all. And the door was covered by curtains. All of which made it stand out more, paradoxically enough, since it was so different from its neighbors.

On her way back to the table where they were doing research, Dara in tow, Sadie practically ran into the lovely blonde girl. "Oh, sorry! My fault. I should have watched where I was going," she said with a nervous chuckle. Internally she was lecturing herself to get it together and not turn into a complete idiot just because the girl was cute.

silently, a strange girl appears on the school grounds. She looks around for a while, marveling at just how... Green this place is.

** spoiler omitted **

Having completely lost her way on her way down from the roof, Lyzzie had somehow ended up downstairs, but outside the school, and still no closer to pancakes, which was a tragedy. She was walking around the outside of the building to get to the cafeteria when she saw another girl walking the other direction. "Hello," she said cheerfully. "I'm Lyzzie. Who are you? Oh, wow, what is that thing in your forehead? It looks cool! Oops! I shouldn't have said that, should I? Like, duh, Lyzzie, where are your manners? Sorry about that! Hey, have you had breakfast yet? I'm just on my way to the cafeteria. Gotta get there while there are still pancakes left! You wanna join me? Unless you've already eaten, because, duh, of course it's no fun to just sit and watch someone else eat. Totally boring and I can understand why you wouldn't want to do that."

Because this seemed like more fun than running into the uber-responsible Jeran. ;P

The girl starts for a second, then turns, and looks at Sadie, making eye contact. Her crystal blue eyes with emerald flecks seem like endless pools...then when it was about to get awkward, her head cocks to one side a bit, and she bites her lip, and says in an odd (think Russian) accent, with a hint of a smile:

"I did not mind it. No apologies necessary."

"I'm Sadie Jhiwoon. This is my little brother, Dara," she said, indicating the small shape hiding behind her. "He's....shy," she said, trying not to call too much attention to the fact that he was mostly obscured by a homemade suit of armor composed primarily of spoons. "I don't think I've seen you around before, but I've been a little busy. The, uh, light blades professor sort of took off without warning and I've been filling in as a student teacher until they can find someone new, which doesn't leave a lot of free time," she babbled, trying to get her brain to work, but totally distracted by how amazingly beautiful this girl's eyes were. Not to mention the rest of her. Which she should not be ogling. Come on, Sadie get it together. Do not scare off the girl you're trying to flirt with by being creepy now.

"Always knew I liked something about this place." He smiles and nudges Dave's side.
He glances over to a holo map, following from where they were to an open anti- Grav cafe with his finger.
"Ooookay. I think I know where it is. You ready to eat?"
"Starving as always, first thing in the morning" he looks around, enraptured by the sights. he wonders if his unusual physique would allow him to survive out in the dangerous environment Tybalt had mentioned

The cat smiles and pulls Dave towards one of the cafes with a sign reading "Pie in the Sky: Zero Gravity Cafe" scrolling by in many languages known and unknown.

"Good! I won't feel weird eating half my body weight in coffee cake, then." People that don't know Tybalt would think he's kidding.
"I should have more than enough to cover it. This system doesn't know a lot of magic, so even the little trinkets I make sell for a lot of their money." He produces a stick that looks mostly like a USB drive. "Their money is all imaginary and kept in these, so it doesn't feel as nice, though."

"just coffee cake or is there a variety of things?" David is imagining challenging people to eating contests now. The thought amuses him.

Djalos appears seemingly out of nowhere, stepping out of the shadows right next to Sadie. "We must continue our research. The threat of this outer being is quite real, and we may be working on a time limit. I have taken the liberty of organizing our study materials by a categorical system based on alphabet, date of publication, author, and sanity."

The briefest flash of anger for the new arrival at the interruption, then she turns back to Sadie:

"Well, then, I will let you both get back to your mission. It was nice to run into you, little Dara, and you, Sadie Jhiwoon. Good luck."
She turns and walks further into the library, casting a brief glance back at Sadie as she rounds a corner.

Image

Djalos startled Sadie so much when he showed up, that she unintentionally put up a forcefield, pushing him back slightly. It took her a moment to get her bearings, but when Helena walked away, Sadie ran after her.
"Helena, wait! Um, the section you're looking for is over that way, two stacks in and one over. Also," she continued talking more quickly so she didn't lose her nerve, "there'sapartytonightintheSIMroomsIhopeI'llseeyouthere." She blushed again. "Umm....see you later...I hope," she added quickly before heading back to where she left Dara and Djalos.

She frowned, hands on hips. "Djalos, One," she said holding up a finger, "don't sneak up on people, it's rude. Two," she said, holding up another finger, "you need to learn some discretion when it comes to what information you share in front of who or people will stop telling you things since you can't keep a confidence. Three," she punctuated this by holding up a third finger, "the world isn't going to end because I spent two minutes flirting with a pretty girl. I know you're new to Avalon, so you might not get this yet, but we have a lot of life and death crises here. Yes,. this one is super important because it involves my closest friend and I absolutely take it seriously, but if you wait to have a life until there isn't a crisis, well, you'll never have a life at all. Nothing is currently rampaging, it's okay to take occasional breaks. Which leads me to point four," she continued holding up a fourth finger, "you need to work on your people skills. Like really, really bad. You're almost as bad as Zren and Rikken were when they got here and they were raised by ogres. Literally, ogres. So tonight you're also coming to that party with me because you seriously need the practice socializing. Before it creates its own terrible crisis." She took a deep breath. "Also, thank you for organizing the materials. And this is my brother, Dara, inside all those spoons. Dara, this is Djalos. Djalos is new here and not used to being around people."
There was a slight clinking as Dara peered out at Djalos from behind the bookcase he was using as cover after Sadie had taken off earlier.

Male Elf Slayer 16

Djalos stays completely silent during Sadie's speech. "Addressing your points in descending order. First point, sneaking up on people is rude. Noted. Second point, I assumed that you were going to kill your target, so I believed that it was safe to relay information. Third point, if that's true, it would be optimal to use the time when something isn't currently rampaging, as you put it, to entirely prevent the rampaging part. If what you say is true, and I believe it is since I have spent a non-insignificant amount of time with you, perhaps I should take a break though. Miss Jones has repeatedly said to me that I need emotional development in order not to erupt into a burning point of infinite mass that could destroy a large portion of the school, so noted. I do have a query, however. If you were flirting with this girl, why didn't you just strike from," Djalos points to a variety of shadowed places in the library, "there, there, and there? And why bother at all? There is no large congregation of people that you need to get her away from in order to kill her. And that form of flirting was somewhat clumsy, even though I admit that I have never found necessity to use that particular extraction technique. Point four, I will acquiesce with your request, due to the conclusions I drew in point three and the fact that I believe you would literally drag me no matter my resistance to this party if I refused. And point five," Djalos pauses for a moment. "Hello, Dara." He twists his face upwards in a manner that could be considered a smile, but looks more like he's being tortured. It doesn't help that he isn't looking directly at Dara.
