Roxie, Demonic Spirit wrote:

It's scary how quickly the transformation takes place as soon as Jacob relaxes his control. A slight tension leaves his body, and suddenly runes bathed in a glowing red light appear, linked in a circle around the boy. With a flash of bright light, a house-sized demon appears in his place, smirking. Without Jacob actively resisting Roxie, it seems, she can take on a form more... suited to her tastes. A soft, feminine lower half of her face, albeit with a somewhat greenish tint, is somewhat incongruous with the top half, where massive, jet black horns curve upward from where her eyes should be, in some places glowing with a strange eldritch energy.

Six segmented arms, covered in either armor or a chitinous, black exoskeleton, begin stretching and cracking their claws as skeletal wings wreathed in that same eldritch glow unfurl from her back, and clawed feet begin sprinting forward, while a wild grin spreads across Roxie's face.

Should we just let this play out off-screen, so to speak?

Pretty sure that demon rampages have to happen off screen if only out of respect for the board guidelines. :P

Ephebe slowly worked her way through the facility to the sound of distant screams. Those prisoners who were able to escape were shown to an escape shuttle programmed for a particular destination. Those who were too far gone were granted swift mercy. She was a demon lord, not a monster. Which was certainly more than could be said for the 'scientists' that worked in this facility. When the screams stopped, she made her way to where Jacob stood panting and leaning against a wall, Roxie's need for destruction sated for now. She shot him with a prestidigitation shell before he had much chance to notice the blood that had spattered on him. "Time to go home now, Jacob," she said, pushing a button on the starcaster clipped to his belt, sending him back to her office in Avalon. She followed right behind him, leaving behind a silent facility filled with bodies. That should give the investigators something to worry about.

Safely back in her office, she poured a cup of tea and added plenty of sugar to it before handing it to Jacob. "Here, drink this. It'll help." She picked up a blanket off the back of one of the plush chairs and wrapped it around him. "So will this. Give it a few minutes and you'll feel much better."

After what they did to your parents...after what they did to you...there's no way I could ever forgive them for that, no matter what kind of excuse they gave. This just feels....expected. It's just that it's consistent with their track record. Mostly I'm impressed you didn't actually kill either of them. That says a lot of good things about you. "The scientists," Ephebe answered without hesitation. "Roxie was mercifully quick by comparison, and with much less torture. If she hadn't been here, I would have had to convince some paladins to investigate the facility. Same end result. I can send you to Miss Zamarosok to get a telepathic block if you would like the memories completely erased. Or you can keep it as an educational experience of what real evil looks like."

Male Elf Slayer 16

"He had to impale himself through the intestines," Djalos says, rather matter-of-factly. "A creature called 'Emm,' which manifests as a ball of white static, has the ability to completely negate all kinds of magic. And this 'Emm' creature has been killed on multiple occasions. Apparently, it was created by an Other from pure hate from a dying child. Rather depressing stuff, really. But occasionally, the Other that created Emm comes into contact with a particularly megalomaniacal or desperate person, and shows them how to summon Emm, thereby resurrecting the horror and causing a planetary apocalypse. Considering the general Fae propensity for subtle trickery, it would not surprise if, in a long-minded gambit, the Other in question slipped information on how to make a pact with it into an otherwise 'normal'-for a given value of such when dealing with the binding of extraplanar entities-in a book about binding and summoning extraplanar entities, knowing that the book would arrive in Avalon's library, and knowing that it is far more likely for somebody with the required intelligence, and arrogance and/or desperation within the school's halls than without them. And disguising itself as a somewhat more innocuous being would lessen the qualms of actually calling upon the power of Emm."

Male Aasimar (Muse-Touched)

Jacob smiles wanly. "I believe I read somewhere that humanoids have within them more capacity for horrendous evil and selfless good, often at the same time, than the greatest of celestials and fiends. Most of those demons and angels and such are just doing their jobs, after all, but humans are the ones with the choice. I... I think I'll keep the memories, if just to remind me of that."

"Okay, okay," Sadie said, frowning, hand on her temples. "We need to stop and think this through. If this Emm is the static-y one, then that can't be what Adon summoned. That being was bound to him by his parents when he was a child. Whether it's Emm or something else, he's being punished for his parents' bad decisions in that case. Which doesn't necessarily mean that what Adon summoned isn't this creature, but he's bound to two separate entities in this case, so we need to keep that in mind. Second, I may not be a scholar of the fey, but I've been reading these books too, and the fey and the Others are not the same thing. They're totally opposed to each other. Seriously, you should have seen how Nala reacted. Doesn't mean the Others aren't also sneaky bastards. Just that it's important I think to keep the sides straight," she said calmly.

And then she turned to Adon and smacked him. "What the hell were you thinking?! You could have died?!!!"

Djalos speaks up, for the first time in a while. "That's what I was there for. I was afraid he was about to do something incredibly stupid, so I tagged along. He let me, so I would classify him as your standard, run-of-the-mill idiot, not a complete imbecile."

"Glad I could help you not do something you would regret later, even if I was unconscious at the time," she said, squeezing his hand. "I can only imagine how hard all this is for you. And how much betrayal you feel. I mean, they're strangers to me. I wasn't raised as a part of firebird society. They're all strangers to me. And I barely understand the customs. But you were raised to be a part of it. And you really believed in it. And they let you down in the worst possible way. I'm sorry you've had to go through that. I wish there were anything I could do to fix it. But I know there isn't. Just know I'm here, and I can at least listen if you want to rant about all of it. And don't worry about sparing my feelings if you have nasty things to say about my grandparents. I probably agree with you. They're awful people. Really, truly evil."

"Umm....well, I can ask my friends, but I don't know how much time they can spend on this. They've all kind of got a lot going on. But I'm sure they'll all try to at least help as much as they can. At least once Ginni is okay. Until then we all mostly take turns annoying the infirmary staff asking for news," she said with a shrug.

Sadie took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Okay. Thank you, Djalos. For clarifying. And for helping save Adon from himself. Still not exactly thrilled with the whole decision to bind yourself to some creature you don't really know much about, Adon, but I apologize for yelling. Just don't ever worry me like that again. You're important to me, and I'm not okay with you treating your life like it doesn't matter."

Jacob nods. "Yes, that would be... appreciated. Um, how would setting roommates work with a third, independent entity that occasionally manifests itself in the material?"

I don't really think that there's much more to do in the Jacob/Ephebe scene. Should we move on?

She looked around. "Now, uh, how do we get home? K doesn't know the way because he's been in a cage all this time, and this is my first trip....well, technically second I guess, but first conscious trip to the spirit world."

Lang smiles as he is needed once more. Follow me, we will return to our meditating bodies in the material world. Lang starts to guide Ori back to her physical form.

On the way back, Ori is quiet. She has a lot to think about. When they get close to where they came in to the spirit world she stops.

"How easy is it to carry something from the spirit world to the real world?" she asked.

Lang stopped, a bit suprised at the question.

after a moment of thought, I, ahhh, I don't know, I never tried. I believe that it's possible, but I don't know how or what would happen.

Lang is a little worried that Ori has something that could be a problem for her to get back.

"I think you'll find that the school tends to supply the necessary partitions in the room to avoid awkwardness," she said, reassuring him.

Once Jacob had gone she picked up her data pad and opened a comm channel. "Avalon to Harbinger Ascendant. This is Headmistress Blackscales speaking. I am sending you the coordinates for a package that needs to be picked up. I think you'll like this particular present, but I advise sending it directly to the planet for safety reasons in case it has been compromised."

And besides, I bet Professor Agave will be practically beside herself with excitement over the idea of having an actual spirit grove here in her garden. Pretty sure it's kind of a big deal for people who love plants."
