The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

adon narrows his eyes. This is very much not what he expected. He walks behind, likley unable to catch up due to his inability to actually run after her, at least for a while- after a few moments, a second shadow of an armored man manifests next to him, and his free arm starts to form a hazy black aura. Forgetting about the pain in his gut at the sight of combat, he darts foreward, trying to go around sadie's ball at first- and if not possible, he will attempt to touch it with disjunction.

The bubble disappeared at this touch and Sadie tumbled forward.

She stumbled a little but managed to avoid getting sliced by any guards on her way past, bouncing up and pulling up a small shield as she used her rapier to disarm one of the guards in her way, running ahead as fast as she could manage.

Vickory slides over for a better look at what Mel drafts up for the detector, taking notes on side, and keeping a running update of the design on the other (in case the SIM program collapses. She is used to a far less advanced version after all). Occasionally she points out some part or piece that could be done faster using parts already made for the drones project, the point of which seems to be moot now.

Keme uses an illusion trick to create an ephemeral note that he hands to Alys. It says, "Ace is about to do something so stupid it just might work. You and I are on guard duty at the door." The note vanishes as soon as it's been read.

Ace is easily able to cast all of the spells from the scrolls Tyrrin provided UMD is +39 without a roll, or anything extra added, so can use scrolls with a caster level of 19, base.

He then places a hand on Ginni's head, and attempts to establish a psychic link with her.

Not sure how to do this mechanically, if such even matters. Via the collective? Some power? Something else?

Her grip is loose at best and will let go at the slightest sign of resistance because of her breakable nature, but she keeps up a steady stream of chatter as she leads Vis through the after-hours entrance to the infirmary from the elementary school...the one that goes past but not into Miss Zamarosok's office.

"Hello," she said, flagging down a nurse as soon as they were there. "Our friend just accidentally blew himself up so we're here to fetch him back once he's all better."
The nurse chuckled in spite of herself. "Of course, Chara. And what is your friend's name?"

The nurse gave Chara a severe look. "You didn't talk him into doing anything dangerous, did you?"
"No....ummmm......maybe? Just a little bit...."

You'll have to drop the collective first. Otherwise you drag everyone else into Ginni's mind with you, and that would definitely spoil your plan. Aside from that, just make telepathic contact and GInni's mind takes care of the rest. I'm going to assume that Ace did just that for the sake of moving on. Mechanically speaking, by making contact with Ginni's mind, Ace forfeits any immunity to enchantments or mental controls vs Ginni. He still gets a save, but he takes negatives to that. He still has all immunities and such versus the murderer of course.

Ace finds himself in a strange landscape. There are four pillars in this landscape that reach high into the sky. One of the pillars is broken and crumbling. There is a small area of blackness surrounding that pillar, but it is walled off and contained. A second pillar is surrounded by a glowing red miasma that is creeping slowly out from the pillar into the surrounding landscape. The third pillar is the strongest. It seems to be glowing and the landscape around it is the healthiest. He can't get a proper look at the fourth pillar. He just knows that it is at his back and if he looks up he can see it stretching away into the sky. If he stares up at it too long he starts to feel as if he is floating up, back into himself, but once he brings his gaze downwards he sinks back to the ground.
And that's when he spots Ginni. She's pressed against the trunk of the third pillar, keeping the pillar between herself and the creeping red fog coming from the second pillar. "What are you doing here?" she shouts. Her voice sounds distorted, as if he were hearing it through water. "I told you not to come! I'm losing control of myself. It's dangerous!"

He pauses for a moment, looking into the rising and falling water around him.

Ace stands in awe of his girlfriend's mindscape for several moments. He wasn't sure what to expect, so it takes him a bit to adjust. After battling a quick, weird case of vertigo looking at the pillar behind him, he spots Ginni and walks toward her.

"I know Ginni and I'm sorry, but that's part of the reason I came here, to help you regain control. Phaez and Taminia said your demonic side is trying to overpower you. Perhaps the two us together can beat it back into submission." He says, keeping a safe distance from her, just in case. "However, I'm also hoping to use your connection to the monster who murdered you and Kitty to track him down and end him once and for all. We were getting nowhere with other methods and he keeps killing. He's moved passed Avalon and out into the refugee camp and even Kuros. It's bad Ginni and we are all at a loss as to how to stop him. Coming here was the best of bad choices, but I think you're our only hope."

After all, if this infermary fixes everything up before it gets too bad to have true consequences, then things that this place can fix aren't truly "dangerous", are they?"

"But, uh. I suppose that's just being overly picky about what the word actuslly means."

"It's my fault," she said in that watery indistinct voice. The whole landscape wavered for a moment, like a reflection that's been disturbed. "I hate him! He hurt me! And I can't get him out! I just want him to leave! I don't want him in my head!" If Ace is watching the slow advancement of the red fog speeds up for a moment before Ginni takes a breath and gets a hold of herself, slowing it again. "It's not just a one-way connection. Because I hate him, it concentrates all of my demonic energy there. Energy that's specifically intended to corrupt people. It's getting into him, pushing him to kill more and more and more. He'll never stop. He used to only kill three times before moving on, but now that's not enough...It's my fault," she added with a sob.

She doesn't pull away from him. She seems happy to be comforted. He notices that as he moves the pillar at his back moves with him, always right at his back. She lifted her head and shook it when he made his guesses about what was what. "No, that's wrong. The pillars aren't me. That's Kai," she said, pointing at the broken pillar. "He died. That's why the connection is broken. The red fog is my demon side. That's why it's all around him," she said wrinkling her nose in distaste as she pointed to the pillar that represented the connection to her killer. "This pillar is Melody. But if you go over there, into the fog...you can't trust me there, Ace. It won't be the me that you know."

Alys turns to the door, her right hand settling on the hilt of her katana as she herself settles into a ready stance. Her demeanor is very different from just a moment ago, it seems almost as if she is the katana and that the katana is extraneous.

She beings to speak short phrases one after another as reality shivers around her.

If anyone in the room can see the flows and auras of magic, layer upon layer of magic settles over her as she speaks. Her speaking does not sound like spellcasting and she makes none of the associated gestures, nor uses any of the customary materials; she simply speaks and magic happens. After nearly a full minute, she stops and simply waits.

Lyn, don't forget that Tami is supposed to head off to go and get Phaez once Ace established contact with Ginni

"Hmm, interesting" He says as Ginni explains the pillars "Ok, what do you suggest? This is your world, any guesses as to how to beat your demonic side back into submission? I think doing that first makes the most sense."

He pauses thinking "Do you know the identity of the killer? That would be most helpful. Also, you said this pillar here is Melody? I wonder if we can somehow contact her to assist us as well?"

A nurse poked her head into his room. "Hello there," she said in a pleasant tone. "You're Gareth are you? You have some friends waiting for you outside. Would you like me to send them in or would you prefer to be alone while you're healing?"

I hadn't forgotten, but time moves differently inside the mental landscape. It's been maybe two seconds outside. Tami is watching to see if Ace was successful at making contact before she takes off.

"Melody is far away. Too far to talk to. I've tried and tried. She was in trouble, but she's alright now I think. Just so far away." She looked fearfully around the pillar that was Melody towards the one surrounded by the red mists. "He pretended to be my friend, but it was a lie. It was all lies. Even his name is a lie. So many names, but they're not his. He steals names from his victims. I can't even tell if the name he told us was even ever his own or if that was stolen too. Repparyn." She sobbed and the red mist advanced forward again. Ginni was trying to breathe slowly, but not succeeding. "Calm. I need to calm down. I have to stay calm," she repeated over and over.

"Yeah, my bones are super fragile. And I'll take whatever help I can get," she added with a cheerful grin. "It's not easy being a breakable daredevil," she added with a mournful sigh.

Vis beams at the chance to help someone, quickly taking out a paper and pen, along with a small peice of wood, and covers the page with elaborate symbols in mere seconds, before picking up the wood, and changing into firebird form and carving similar symbols into the wood with his talons. Naturally, this is taking significantly longer.

Vis is a bright yellow firebird, as an FYI.

Chara watches, being really, really quiet. Or as close an approximation as she can manage. She might be humming a little. But that doesn't really count. It's not like it's actually loud. She was a little jealous when he changed into a bird. She'd always wanted to do that, but her bones couldn't handle the transformation.

Following the noise, Adon comes to another hallway where there is fighting going on. Sadie has turned her forcefield shield into a personal sized hamster ball and is currently bowling down the hall, running over the guards in her way while they can't get at her.
adon narrows his eyes. This is very much not what he expected. He walks behind, likley unable to catch up due to his inability to actually run after her, at least for a while- afterglow a few moments, a second shadow of an armored man manifests next to him, and his free arm starts to form a hazy black aura. Forgetting about the pain in his gut at the sight of combat, he darts foreward, trying to go around sadie's ball at first- and if not possible, he will attempt to touch it with disjunction.

The bubble disappeared at this touch and Sadie tumbled forward.

She stumbled a little but managed to avoid getting sliced v any guards on her way past, bouncing up and pulling up a small shield as she used her rapier to disarm one of the guards in her way, running ahead as fast as she could manage.
adon chuckles, the dark haze growing only deeper, as the destroyed msgic and combat Gives him a rush, darting after saide as fast as he can leaving a trail of both his own blood and thst of guards foolish enough to attack him.

Sadie looked behind her and then looked back ahead. There was a set of double doors in front of her and a large window high overhead. There were several guards in front of the doors, so chances were that this was the entrance to the throne room. She bit her lip. Oh, hell. If Michael could figure this out while copying her powers, then she could too.

Sadie pulls the force shield off of her arm and tosses it into the air in front of air, jumping on it just as it gets going. For the first time she was able to put all the pieces together and she pushed the disk forward and into the air, riding it up across the hall and crashing through the window.

She smiled, glad to see how much he had cheered up. "I'll be right back with them then."

"Thank you!" This was going to be pretty fun. Well, more fun than just sitting here alone and bored. They kept taking the books he hid in here back to the library.

"Ooh, neat! It's a dolly!" she said, examining it happily.

Just then Nurse Trurow came back. "Gareth said that he would be happy to have you two come to his room and wait with him while he finishes healing."

"I bet he's bored," Chara said solemnly, all too familiar with the pain of waiting for healing magic.

"Yes, well, let's not be so entertaining that he gets hurt again, alright?"

"Of course we won't," Chara said indignantly, before trotting off after Nurse Trurow, trusting that Vis will follow. "Hi, Gareth," she chirped once they got to his room.

While the techie types started to work on their building, Andromeda stepped back. It wasn't that she couldn't help exactly. She could, but she wasn't as good at it as any of these guys, so might as well let the experts handle it. She figured she was mostly here to make sure that that Arthur kid didn't get distracted and blow up the planet accidentally. She pulled a datapad out of her pocket. Thank goodness for cargo pants. With extradimensional pockets, of course. She typed up a quick message and hit send.

Tamrin:
Hey Dad, just wanted to make sure that you knew about Mom being in the infirmary again. She's being a bad patient. -Andromeda

That done she sat and watched for an hour or so as they worked and Tryko'Sam went back and forth, bringing in batches of parts as they finished being grown in the nanite tanks.
