The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"Never too late to learn to have some fun. Maybe that's something I could help with." He chuckles as he leans back, head resting on a pair of hands laced behind his head and the other laced and resting on his chest.

"Sorry you missed out in them for so long. I guess this afterlife isn't all I've heard of, then. But then again, not something I'm going to have to worry about."

Jasper gives a short wave as Kam enters.

"Sounds like a fun family ya got there. You all just sound more fun with everything I hear." He laughs as he offers a hand to Kam.

"Nice to meet you. Kam is bonded with Taron?" He looks to Andromeda for confirmation. "I'm still not clear on who had the kids, though." He shakes his head, turning back to Kam.
"Sorry, I'm trying to learn the family tree, well, forest."

Male Tanuki Bard/Monk16

"The snakes are bigger around than a tree trunk, so maybe not the best for in door use. They're actually more aquatic, but they work most places. Just not small ones."

His thumbs hang from his pickets as he follows Janie. He shuffles Gavin's hair with a grin. "Don't worry man. It'll be fun."

"Taron had ours. We flipped a coin and he called it wrong." He says, deliberately not explaining any further. Whether out of a desire to see further confusion on the wishcrafter's face or just to keep it private was unclear.

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

Vickory rolls her eyes, "I knew he wasn't ready. Well sometimes you need a good swift kick in the backside." she says calmly as she slithers over to Sam, whom she roughly grabs and suddenly, yet not too harshly, slams against a wall, "OI! Your fear is destroying you!" her voice having become sharp and commanding, "You must stop running! You need to accept it, and to command it! They will die if you don't! You must stand and face it! It is only yourself! The more you run the more control you give it! Stand and fight or everything you love will be destroyed! It doesn't matter if you live or die, only whether you fight or run!"

N/A Male voice Robot Ninja10/Machinesmith 1

"Sir, he is expressing the symptoms of a panic attack according to the Diagnostics and Statistics Manual of Mental Disorders."

He turns his head to see Mel trying to comfort him before Vickory simply lifts and tosses him.

"Ms. West, assaulting Tryko'Sam is counter productive to his current state, please step away."

He steps towards Tryko'Sam, keeping a few paces distance. "Sir, it is neccesary to transport him to the infirmary."

"Alright, then. I'm anxious to see these marvels of science. I'd heard about the encounter with the life pod that was fired upon by one of the craft. Interested to see them up close." He notices the nervous habit, but says nothing.

"Well, not too close. There's still some bugs to work out before you guys can get in one, but you'll at least get to see what it looks like from the outside," he said, grimacing a little bit at the mention of bugs to work out.

"Much obliged, kid. And anything youse can do for Mr. Threon would be appreciated. He needs help, no doubt about that. But so do lots of other people. What the whole town needs is more healers of that sort. Well, of any sort for that matter. Might want to bring that up with the boss," he said before his attention was drawn to a piece of shrieking machinery.

"Oy! Youse over there, stop the machine! The belt's caught again!" he bellowed, jumping down from the crate and running over to deal with the crisis.

"I will see what I can do," Fei calls out after the rapidly departing halfling as he steps off the floor and out of the flow of 'traffic'.

He makes his way to an interface terminal, and he asks his neural lace to start running diagnostics on Assembly 1's power systems for the past month. He also runs a parallel diagnostic to get a comparison of materials received versus on-hand as of today in order to see what has been legitimately used...and what is actually missing.

With those two tasks started, the young monk heads back to Research and Development to discuss the potential medical care issues in Kuros with James...

He finds Jiminy and Ghalen just exiting the R&D building on their way over to the hangar.

"I'm more interested to see how it handles. I've never flown a humanoid fighter before. The fact that you've solved problems with stabilization and drag in flight and power requirements for that are quite impressive.

Is the ingenuity a personal trait, or common for Amethysts, I wonder?"

When they run into Fei, he bows, with a respectful depth.
"Hey, Fei. Nice to see you again."

"Ghalen, hello. I hope you are well," Fei replies with an equally-respectful and friendly bow. He then corrects his course to accompany him and James down the corridor.

"James - I apologize for interrupting your conversation, but is there anywhere at this facility or in Kuros where a 'clinic' could be opened and staffed? Something for both physical injuries as well as psychological trauma. It appears that several of the refugees here may be suffering from the latter, and could use help. If we have a location, I can speak to the fellows at the Infirmary and see if we can transfer some members here to assist."

"I have also come across a power fluctuation issue in Assembly 1 that I am investigating concurrently with the inventory discrepancy. I hope to have more information for you on both shortly."

SIM Room -- Mel SIM

While Arthur dismisses the 'broken' Tryko'Sam, and his butler-assassin does it's programmed responses, both Mel and Vickory's attempts to rouse Tryko'Sam from his trauma induced mental withdraw give him an anchor to return to normal...

... and after said slamming into wall and such, which he does physically react too (being slammed, hapless target that he is), mentally, he's somewhere else.

After a few moments, his voice picks up and he sputters out, "... no, not again, don't make me-- ..." He looks around with more focused of a gaze this time, eyes opening, and then looking at Vickory holding him then Mel.

"... did I say something rude, V? I thought we were getting along pretty swell." He seems to be collecting himself and flashes a charming smile at the Mel SIM, then glances around the room as if to see if anything's amiss. A sigh of relief slips out.

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

In a more calm, yet with a hint of concern, "No you did not. You made a worse mistake. You have not faced your issues and they overwhelmed you. You are not fit to help anyone in the field. You need to face yourself first. If what happened to you now, happened when lives are at stake..." As she speaks she lets him go, but also making sure he can stand on his own, though her voice fades slowly into a lecturing tone.

Standing easily on his own feet, Tryko'Sam dusts himself off and glowers a touch. "Yeah, yeah -- sure, find me someone who'll fix up the memories I do /have/, which haven't been re-patched together like some Frankenstein pre-med Psycher project or joke and we'll be fine. Only way I know how to fix this is roulette with the noodle-- and I really hate the reset, if you follow my meaning. Memories are what define me."

There's a clear anger in his eyes when he speaks, but it's not directed at the room's contents. "Anyhow-- point noted. Sorry, SIM Mel, please, you were asking for help?" He re-directs the attention back towards the SIM.

After a moment though, he does whisper loudly enough for Vickory, "Thanks, scales. Glad you have my back."

Vai idly wonders if her family just has a thing for demons. It would explain Ephebe. And Kam.

And James.

The barely repressed smile breaks into a full one at her internal joke, and her voice is full of mirth. "Well, I mean, you earned it, right?"

The light in the room catches and glints off of the jewel still hanging around Vai's neck. Her cheerfulness almost seeming in stark defiance of what that jewel represents.

Ehos' late afternoon meditation in the gardens has slowly become late afternoon nap time instead, as Ehos found himself drifting off to a troubled sleep - a common occurrence, and likely the cause of the nap in the first place.

In his dream, there is a vague form... the nude form of Jaiye... or was it Kara? Or both? The dream is filled with a warm pleasure, underlying a pervasive feeling of guilt.

Despite the relative warmth of the grove in which he found himself napping, Ehos awakens in a cold sweat. And in need of a change of trousers.

Awkwardly, Ehos tries to nonchalantly keep his crotch covered with a leafy frond as he makes his way to his room...

With the settings finally done, the sim begins and the dojo area disappears as Sadie, Adon, and Djalos found themselves outside of a small palace being rushed by a group of overly enthusiastic guards.

Sadie used her forcefield to push one of the guards to the right so he slid past her instead of barreling into her and quickly disarmed him as he stumbled past.

Going over to the work bench, Here is what is left of Arthur's suit. it actually saved my life so I really am grateful that you made it. I think there is enough info here and what's in my journal to make a modified reality bomb.

"Oh, yeah, my family is tons of fun," she said with false cheerfulness, taking a big gulp from a bucket of milkshake. "Well, aside from the doll burning incident. And the spider infested toe shoes. And the time we all got lost in the jungle because Jiminy just had to go camping by himself with us dragged along. Okay, I take it back. My family is lots of fun from the outside," she joked, attempting to deflect her own feelings with humor. She didn't even know what she was feeling anymore. Jumping into all of her other selves during her time as a ghost made it hard sometimes to still remember who exactly she was and she was definitely not ready to talk about that. She just needed to find some points of reference, anchors to the here and now. And then everything would be okay. Okayish. Probably. And she was suddenly glad that she was talking to Kam and not Taron because Taron would know how much she was faking being okay right now. Stupid existential panic.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37

She quickly shoves some of the books under the others when the door opens, but does so in a smooth motion so it isn't immediately obvious that she was doing anything besides moving papers.

"Well, it's not like I was doing anything other than research anyways. If you're sure you think that this is safe. I am on administrative leave because of my...issues."

"I'm sure it will be fine. Lang and Gareth are both mostly responsible children. It's really just a formality. Ah, here we are," Ephebe said as the two teachers approached the group of children just outside the cafeteria. "Lang, one of the two people I was looking for. You remember Professor Reading, I presume. She's going to be your faculty advisor on this project. Not that I won't also be there to help, but it seemed prudent to provide additional supervision considering. I did promise to introduce you to Gareth. He has a book that needs translating, and I think that if you can tap into your old memories, you have the key to doing just that."

Stupid existential panic.
at this point a door a winged humanoid with a champion aura opens the door and is wheeling a tray of food behind him. he looks startled when he noticed the room to be occupied "oh sorry about that, I hadn't realized this room was occupied ah sorry to intrude"
"Uh, no problem. There's probably another one of these rooms around if you're trying to be alone. Or you can pull up a chair I guess and join our little misfits' club," she said, gesturing towards the empty chairs. "I'm Andromeda. This is Jasper. And that's Kam," she continued, her cheeks starting to ache from keeping up this fake smile. Ugh. Why did she always have to be made of awkward when it came to meeting new people?

"I think we met before, like a week ago well, you and jasper anyway. Though I think the forms you were wearing were different. But I can't remember if we ever formally introduced, so I'm Dave. Uh, David De'Foul, and um if you don't mind me here I guess I could stay. "

"We've met?" she said, momentarily confused before comprehension dawns. "Oh! Right! I remember now! You're the chump that the other me tricked into trying to disrupt the ritual to restore Balance!" She looked horrified as her brain caught up with the words that had just come out of her mouth and face palmed. "I'm the version that completely missed out on anything resembling social graces in case there was any doubt at this point," she said, embarrassed beyond words. Because words were what got her into this mess. And would undoubtedly make it even worse shortly.

"Forgive my cynicism," is all he says.

"Nothing to forgive," Jiminy said, slapping him on the back in a friendly fashion. "I need someone to criticize me now and then or my head might get too big to fit through the doorways," he joked. "And you do such an admirable job of it."

"And on that note, I'll be heading out. Nice to meet you, David." Kamenwati says politely as he leaves, already sending the conversation to Taron for a bit of a familial laugh.

He stops and looks at Jiminy.

"I, probably better than anyone on Agartha, with the possible exception of your father, truly understands the enemy we face. What you are attempting to do hasn't successfully been done in millennia. I rather admire the work that you do, and I honestly don't wish to give any other impression than that. My cynicism stems from sentient nature. People usually will not do things on their own, they have to be driven. These attacks should galvanize the community to work better and harder to prevent being totally taken by surprise the next time it happens. But I don't see that here. Is it because they don't understand the technological options you offer them yet? Is it overwhelming fear? Where is the desire to adapt and survive?" under his calm facade, there is a sort of frustration, but then leaves...
"Or am I being too hard on them?"

"You are being a bit too hard on them, yeah. You have to keep in mind the timeline. The world itself has been trying to change and adapt since it got flipped right side out. That's a lot of changes in a short time, and sometimes it's frustrating that it doesn't go faster, but this world doesn't have a central government and they're trying to overturn centuries of tradition in just a few months. As for Kuros...it's been a week. They're barely through the memorial services. But they're not beaten down. You should go there this weekend if you get a chance. It might surprise you." He shrugged. "It's easy to get impatient, but people have to make their own choices. And change is a process. It doesn't just magically happen overnight. Well....okay....most of the time it doesn't magically happen overnight...."

Vai idly wonders if her family just has a thing for demons. It would explain Ephebe. And Kam.

Phaezeriel shrugs a little, ::I dunno. You all certainly seem to think so. And far be it from me to argue with dragons.:: His smile shows the joke for what it is.

He turns to face her fully after a moment, and his thoughts are serious when they come again, ::You don't have to answer if you don't want to: But why are you spending so much time alone lately?::

"Well," Asha said, patting his shoulder gently, "I don't know anything about dragons or kobolds, but it seems to me that if you're something really rare, then you can just as well be a rare type of dragon as a rare type of kobold. Not that it should matter all that much probably. I can believe in you, if that helps," she said with a cheerful smile.

Sorry for the slow response.

Kezzin smiles up at her, and as he is about to speak his stomach grumbles loudly. With an embarrassed chuckle he picks up the violin case, "I think I need to get some dinner. Would you like to come with me, or are you gonna stay up here?"

"Yeah, sure. I could do with some charred cheese and a nice, hot cup of paraffin," she said cheerfully. "Plus, it gets too chilly to play outside as it gets later. They tell me it gets even colder...guess I won't be wanting to go outside at all in a few months."

Vickory nods in response to Sam, then turning to Sim Mel (Simmel ? :), "Well, it is nice to know I've met the one we are saving. Funny it took so long to find out that Mel and Waverider are the same. Anyway, lets get started."

With a touch of her cloak, Vickory has a bunch of symbols appear in the front of her. She moves the entire set to the side a little bit and uses it to take notes on whatever Mel has to show.
