The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Male Change-Djinn Wishcraft Sorcerer/ Aerokineticist

"Oh, you dance? I've always thought about trying to learn. Not quite enough to take a class though."

In a quick pause in the conversation he's gone for just a moment and back without the text book and notes he had earlier.

"I'm kinda the same way, but without the parental involvment. Not a big fan of getting attached to people. Up until now it was just three 'yes master's and I never seem em again. But at least we get on, right?" He shrugs his top shoulders as they walk aimlessly, an easy thing to do in the labrynthian hallways. "You considered taking some classes? Easy way to meet people. Make some acquaintances."

In case anyone was looking upon this paragon of fashion, he's wearing a black t-shirt with the sleeves messily cut off and extra holes for his arms, a pair distressed jeans and no shoes. Freedom at its finest.

Male Tanuki Bard/Monk16

The saucy guitarist winks back to his impromptu drummer. "Sneak preview just for you." He smiles and chucks the guitar carelessly into the air. Before it starts to fall, it vanishes into a puff of white smoke and a leaf flits down through the air in its place.

"I dance ballet. Since I was little. It's one of the things that Ephebe and I have in common."

"Yeah, I've been looking through the course catalog. I want to take dance, of course. I like the new dance teacher. She doesn't hit as much as the last one. But she said that my ballet is too rigid, so she wants me to also take another dance class that explores different types of dance. She thinks it will help me be more expressive," Andromeda said, making a face at this. "I already checked, and if I take both dance classes, then one of them can count towards my PE requirement. I was thinking that I would try and stay away from things I'm good at for the rest of my classes, Try and branch out a bit. So I thought maybe psychology and philosophy. But that still leaves me a couple of slots to fill. And I've been outright banned from Alchemy, Cooking, and Botany. So I"m not entirely sure what to do...." She shrugged. "As long as I figure it out by Monday, I guess it's alright."

Janie's eyes got wide. "Whoa! Neat trick. Bet that makes traveling easy. Now I'm jealous. Traveling with a drum kit is never easy," she joked.

Jacob rubs the back of his head with his hand. "Well, I'm fairly certain she knows. Missus Ephebe would have certainly picked up on me retrieving dangerous demonology textbooks from the library right now, and she would've stepped in if she thought I was in any significant danger. I think they're scared of me, honestly."

Adon's gaze turns distant, for a moment. Almost longing. He shakes his head.

"Guh. Sorry. I guess that might have caused some degree of issue. But stripping your emotions away has just as many, if not worse, long term issues."
he steps into the lunchroom. Quietly slips through, ands gets in line, hoping no-9!3 questions his cut shirt or new scar.

Gavin brings a tray of food over and plops down at the table with Janie, he smiles at her and Rakki, but doesn't interrupt.

Djalos slides into the lunch line, and surprisingly, there is some cloud giant food. He scoops up the cotton candy-like substance onto his tray, then proceeds to Belyu's normal table and begins eating up. He gestures for Adon to come and sit down.

Most people just called him Nonyne, since his original name was an oddity at best, having been produced from the birthing tanks of Cephlus-23 some twelve solar cycles ago due to a mis-firing sequence which resulted in the premature release of himself and his 912 other co-vat tank birthers. It didn't help that some rogue adventuring party was primarily at fault-- or that the portal that popped open which snatched himself up, just moments before everything went sideways-- but his mind tended to wander. For a moment, spotting the torn outfit on Adon, then realizing that being the nail that called attention to itself in this place wasn't beneficial to learning, thought to ask. Instead, back to the background and routine. That was safe. No crazed adventurers or deaths. He kept telling himself that as he looked on at the free food. Having been born without the proper bio-development for self fulfillment, helped tremendously.

adon fidgets nervously. Anciously. Expecting one of the numerous people he belived to hate him to come in and berate him, or something of the sort. Or worse, a professor who can figure out what he just did coming in.

In Arthur's last class of the day he stares intently at a prepared metal slab, staring so intently it is though he intends to burn a hole into it as he holds his hand outstretched "what I seek is thunder. izuchi." Nothing happened.
"What I seek is thunder! izuchi!" There might have been a small discharge of electricity between two of his fingers but it's hard to tell.
"What I seek is Thunder! Izuchi! Izuchi! Izuchi!" finally a small jolt of electricity impacts the plate and he jumps up into the air "YATTA!" Just in time for the bell to ring "I have done a magic! HahahahaMuhahaha"

Male Mutant Kasathas Soulbolt 12/Marksman 12(gestalt)

After about an hour or so of being unable to communicate with the medical staff, Dixurli finally speaks directly into a passing nurse's mind. He was taught such a thing was rude, but if he was going to be subjected to more tests than at least it would be with his consent and approval.

They spend the rest of Monday night and most of the day Tuesday running their tests and learn that he while he is sound of body, his mind is rather damaged. His time with the Empire was spent as a living weapon, silent, stealthy and unable to betray secrets for he could not speak. He was further modified beyond his original psionic capabilities to be an efficient assassin, but the torture, experiments and killing broke his mind.

So he sits, well hovers slightly, in a room being taught the basics of social norms. That the people here, both in the medical ward and the school in general do not wish him harm. That its OK to be scared of another new place, but that he'll fit in here because there are many other refugees, escapees and others similar to him. That the staff of Avalon only want to help and will do whatever they can to try and help him live a normal life. Finally, they teach him that to sound a soft chime in somebody's mind before speaking to them telepathically and then wait for permission. While it will take time for this to catch on with the students of Avalon, the nurses will inform his teachers at least that this is the only way Dixulri can communicate and to help accommodate him as best as they can.

Male Human Gestalt Inquisitor/Dragon Knight 16

Helps get the new arrivals to the infirmary after they all pass the once over he and Repp gave them. He feels some empathy for the refugees being treated as they were, but he's not surprised by it, any more than he'd be surprised by a human testing on a beetle. The half-drider creature seemed to indicate the Drow were probably involved as well, which surprises him even less...
He'll touch base with Tyrrin, then head to classes for the day. He thinks about training with Jiminy and the others on his machines, not really excited, but glad his skills will be used...

Being unable to get ahold of Tyrrin for lunch, he goes to the cafeteria.

He grabs something with meat in it, and sits by himself.

"No, not in the water! Not again!" Jeran said as he chased after his charge who insisted on playing in the lake, groaning as he failed to catch her in time and she was once more soaked and happily splashing and making a scene. Taking care of a toddler in a teen's body was not easy.

Image

Phaedra sighed. "I don't see why we can't do something else for a change," she whined. "You've been sewing all week."

Image

Ignace rolled her eyes. "It's not like you have to stay with me, you know." She sighed and relented a bit. "But this time you're in luck. I need to run an errand. There's something I don't understand how to do and I want to ask someone. You won't like him because he's icy, but I absolutely won't forgive you if you're rude, so if you can't keep civil then find someone else to bother," she said sternly.

Image

"I don't see why...." She stopped as Ignace glowered at her. "Fine. I'll behave," she conceded reluctantly.

Sadie walked into the cafeteria and grabbed a tray of food. She'd missed lunch because of needing to clean up the classroom after her third hour class had left everything a total mess. And boy were they gonna get extra homework for this. She spotted Adon and Djalos sitting at a table and walked over to join them. She sat down. "Hey, guys. How's it going? What in the nine hells did you do to your shirt, Adon?"

Male Elf Slayer 16

Djalos continues his unsettling habit of never looking at people who are speaking, and replies, "It is going well, Sadie. You appear as if you are about to punch a wall. Do you need a sparring partner to work out your aggression?"

male human gestalt fighter 15/duelist 9, rouge 5, monk 1

Adon jumps a bit.
"Nothing much! I just uh, wandered around in the woods, and uh. Cut it on something? Yeah."
Adon is not a very good liar.

Male Elf Slayer 16

Adon gets the sense that Djalos is facepalming, despite no facepalming being evident.

Image

Sadie gives Adon a you've got to be kidding me look. "Oookay, so whatever it is I'm not supposed to know about it. Got it."

"Yeah, I could definitely use a sparring partner, Djalos. It's been one of those days. I hate teaching. I miss going to classes. I hate that breaking up with my girlfriend means all of her friends stopped talking to me. And I hate that my brother still won't talk and the guy who was teaching him sign language disappeared. Uhh...we might need to take this to the SIM rooms. That's a lot of aggression."

The Chosen One does in fact, when feeling completely safe and not being scrutinized, act like an unsocialized animal, more than a human being. There's no language-- and the few 'sounds' she reacts too, after much repetition and by Jeran and anyone with patience, are primarily "Stay", "Come", an odd form of "Silence" most likely beaten into her by her keepers-- or similar. She has zero language skills and makes no effort to communicate out of sheer ignorance.

Playing in the water, though, is a delight-- mostly she sits in it and splashes, as described. Unless someone took the time to actually dress her, she's still in her outfit, which is now torn and soiled, without cantrip or the like, to maintain it.

She's a lost cause without education and psychological assistance. It's extremely likely that all she ever knew was a closet, abuse, and complete lack of anything resembling human upbringing. Throw in utter docile, fright as default reactions, plus subservience.

One could spend their life seeking to address this issue. Language spells/attempts fail, as she has none and she has no intelligence to speak of.

On the plus side, though -- she's very good looking, not unhealthy, and makes for great company if you need someone to listen to you.

Male Shaman(Nature) 6/Green Faith Acolyte 10/Ranger(Spell-Less) 16(Gestalt)

During the week of helping to watch over the 'chosen one' Silinrul spends a lot of his watch in various animal forms, to better play with the girl. He assumes many, from bird, to pony, to kitty, and all sorts of others. But by far her favorite is when he takes the shape of a fox, mostly due to her enjoying pulling on his big, bushy tail. The first time she did was quite a shock, and rather painful, but her laughter and joy from such 'naughty behavior' soothed the hurt. He thus usually took a fox's form during his watch with her, and was often outside with others when they were on 'guard duty', just for the sake of being among nature.

Thus it was that when Jeran was watching her and she ended up in the lake, Sil was nearby. Seeing her splashing around and having fun, but also wanting to make sure she didn't drown as he was pretty sure she couldn't swim, the shaman dove in the water, and came up wearing the form of a seal. He starts to play with her, splashing her with his tail.

The boy with the messy hair shakes his head slightly, shuffling his perfectly imperfect locks. It took a lot of time and care to look like you didn't care.
"Touring is never easy. But that does help. Everything else still takes, er, took hours." He's still having a hard time speaking about it in past tense.
He nods affably to the other new addition of Gavin.

Male Change-Djinn Wishcraft Sorcerer/ Aerokineticist

He raises his eyebrows at that.
"Whoa, teachers hit people here? I'd honestly be afraid to do that to some of these guys for fear of what they'd do back. I thought this one guy was gonna deck me just for being in the seat next to him."

His upper two arms lace fingers behind his head with his lower two hold at the small of his back.

"What about music? We could start that together. It's going pretty well so far. I've decided to try and learn how to play one of those guitars with the two necks. Little bit of rhythm may help with your dancing problem too."

Male Elf Slayer 16

Djalos nods. "Very well then, Sadie." He pauses for a moment. "I am... sorry." Despite his stilted tone, both Adon and Sadie get the sense that Djalos is sincere. He finishes up the last of his food, then gets up and waits for Sadie and Adon before he goes to the nearest available SIM room.

"Well, teachers don't generally hit people here, but Madame did. With her cane. Apparently I missed a huuuuge amount of drama when she got fired. She tried to hit Ephebe outside of class, while Ephebe was pregnant no less, and Uncle Ryo banished Madame from the school immediately as a protective measure so Krays wouldn't kill her."

"You know....why not? I mean, I'm not so great at carrying a tune...on like anything. But I could always try percussion. Worst thing that can happen is I make a total fool of myself. And I probably need to do that more often anyways," she said laughing.

The Chosen One does indeed seem thrilled by fur, cute, and anything non-threatening. Plus, water-- and the seal showing up with it's eyes and slick fur, only adds to that after her initial terror moments of seeing something new.

Silinrul might feel the oddest, sensation about the Chosen One-- there's some sort unexplained oddness to her due to being present near her, plus she does play with his tail. Something that is beyond the mundane of day to day life but lacks a clear expression-- yet.

I'm fairly sure of the list of people I imagined, Jeran and Silinrul, attending to the Chosen One, only Silinrul has ties to the Divine, right? Please let me know otherwise if not true-- I'm not tracking exactly who all is guarding her, as many are NPCs.

He's been doing his best to remember who everyone in her family was over the past week, but... At some point he's just gonna give up and start using a book. But to fully understand it would probably take a 3d rendered chart. He was already taking the shortcut of calling Ephebe her sister.

"Ya, we can be dumb together." He chuckles and grins slightly. "So that makes 3 right? One or two more. What else would you like to suck less at?" He seems to be fairly adept at taking things in stride and always able to reply with humor.

Kevin had gone back to being at least regularly normal of his days save for a few key facts.

1. He was now no longer a half elf, but a large mass of semisolid blue stuff.
2. He had become a part of the rotation of keeping the girl they had rescued safe, doing his best to entertain her with some of his smaller and safer slime creature's during his shift and maybe even teach her some things.
... snip!

The Chosen One would become completely catatonic and unresponsive, terrified of anything non-natural or inhuman-- especially if winged, toothed, fanged, claws, scaled or an amorphous blob. Seems 'inhuman' in appearance just triggers something in her. Likely due to her upbringing by outsider type people in robes and ...well, mismashed shapes.

If Kevin does the human thing, even if blue, that takes a long time for her to not tear her gaze away and kneel immediately in his presence as a default reaction, plus the screaming and such.

Jaiye, Sadie, and various unnamed members of the fencing club are the other members of the protection detail and none of them have any divine magic, classes, etc. Jaiye tends to show her ears and tail, but otherwise is mostly human looking. The rest are all some form of humanoid, nothing too crazy.

She checked her list. "I think that's five total. So only one more slot. I dunno. I could try art. That should be good for a laugh. Or stealth. I mean, everybody's gotta fail a class sometime, right?" she said, wrinkling her nose at the thought of failing to excel in class. "At least that's what Jiminy always said. Of course he only failed because he was too busy playing pranks to do his homework or actually attend classes, but hey, it's the principle of the thing."

She's officially an extreme case of abused and incapable of learning-- but, for anyone human, close to her 'visually' in height and shape, she appears submissive and meek, not making eye contact or even knowing when she's being talked too. Jaiye's ears and tail aren't an issue-- gets the occasional peek early on. She clearly has memory, just no skill in anything, other than, being a terrified, uneducated, likely physically and mentally abused, teen, completely underdeveloped mentally, and to an extent physically, and needing serious aid in joining any culture beyond 'human pet' status.

The Week Summary

Asha Soleil wrote:
Asha leaves the SIM room for a bit to make sure Pyry knows where she is before going back to wait again while Tryko'Sam is put back together. She waits until he's making rude remarks again before she leaves, certain that he's back to 'normal' if not exactly always likable. He could be a very complicated friend to have.

Tryko'Sam's restoration appears to ...take some time. Hours at first, then, success. Initially, he's back and between the glaring at Maya, and then subsequent (apparently) depression that ensues, he doesn't really speak initially. Whatever the monstrosity that possessed him did, perhaps spiritually or mentally -- has left it's mark on the youthful looking human.

He does cuss, enough so, that Asha would suspect he's back to normal and needing to 'heal' that which isn't a physical wound.

Maya would express her deepest gratitude to both girls, or just Asha, depending on who stays around naturally due to FCD status explaining that they helped her personally and she owed them more then words could express.

Eventually, though, he takes to returning to the normal process at the school and walking around sullenly without much care to his state of dress (but not filthy) or choice of clothing. If the outfits expressed his inner feelings, he would be in a perpetually black garb, all the time.

Much effort is done to distract himself in SIM Room 3, which he seems to have 'claimed' as his workshop-- while the benefits of such appear to be extensively gorgeous and well thought out SIM Programs for all students and teacher's use across the school. The sorts of programs that add the hint of creative flavour normally disregarded by the system. Swim pools have people and 'events' happening in the background, track and field have other interactive (or easily ignored) storylines that fill out the space not associated with the main participants, and what appears to be 'stories' -- across numerous genre have been uploaded, with the level of detail that would make any Director of modern day film weep with joy at the artistry.

He does not, however, seem to seek socializing-- yet. Occasionally if people wave or move in an unexpected manner towards him, he cringes and slips into a near fetal position shuddering, horsing out a request to, "... just ... just give me a moment. I'm ... okay. Need to catch my breath." One or two school bullies make fun of him, seeing the ease of triggering this, without knowing the reasons, out of whatever reason making them bullies. He cannot immediately stand against such.

No medical visits happen either. Anyone sensitive to the daemonic energies of the null void, would 'feel' him being tainted too, and protective amulets would certainly flare if he got too close to such. He's clearly aware of these things too and stays clear of others in an imposed self-solitude.

Reapling (scout form) rogue, black blooded oracle, gestalt lvl 16

Vickory is never one to leave well enough alone, so she pops in to SIM 3 while Sam is there, "So what are you working on?"

Vickory now seems to have a trio of marbles floating after her though.

Lang looks thoughtfully at her logic, But you are a firebird, I don't think you will do well in water even if you could swim. So I really don't think that is a really good idea.

Lang sort of wants her to try and have some fun, but he also does not want to see her get hurt.

then he has an idea, How about this, you skate like you want to but instead of water I catch you in the air ball like this?

Chara stops to consider this. "Yeah, okay. That works way better. No chance of drowning. Yay! I know the perfect staircase too! It has an extra wide bannister, so I don't even have to find any plywood! And I get to fly through the air!" she agrees enthusiastically.

Lang gives a laugh, Ok, but first lets go get some food. you can join Sun and Sara, and me in the Garden. then we can all play.

Lang tries to escort Chara to get some dinner. and show her the way to everyone else.

and enter Ignace to yell at Lang again....

Friday afternoon

Raelle sat on the grass outside, soaking in the sunshine. Because waiting around in the infirmary was just too depressing. Ginni was still unconscious. There was still nothing she could do to help. Melody was still missing. There was nothing she could do to help with that either. And she couldn't believe she was even saying this, but she actually missed going to classes. She knew she'd get in trouble if she was caught sitting out here alone. After all, there was still a murderer on the loose. But it was this or take off the stupid inhibitor and cover her room in math graffiti again.

Seen approaching at a brisk trot across the green is the sculpted form of Ardiente wearing his flight suit, obviously going to be headed to Jimmy's factory for training soon. He's wearing an easy-going smile.

"Hey you." he says as he easily folds into a sitting position next to Raelle. He kisses her cheek lightly.
