Anahita bint Tariq |
Illithia is listening intently as Anahita rambles on, and her eyes widen at her proclaimation that she might indeed be mentally ill, but that she doesn't really care about it. She opens her mouth to fiercely object, but Anahita startles her once again with a hug. The grey colouration in her ink shifts wildly between pink, red and navy blue as her emotions fluctuate wildly. The colour finally settles on a light pink as Anahita lightly runs her fingers along the extensive colouration.
"Y-yeah." she replies, blushing slightly. "I... wasn't at Avalon when my powers first started to manifest. It... can we not talk about it?" Her expression changes slightly, her slightly embarrassed grimace changing to an approving smirk quickly, though her colours and cheeks retain the light pink shade. "It took some time for me to get used to wearing my emotions on my sleeve." she says, holding a tattoo'd arm up with the same colouration.
"'Sides! You're changing the subject! Why aren't you concerned about your own well-being?!" she continues, the arm that was held up coming down to point accusingly. "Don't make me march you into the infirmary!"
There's a slight smirk of bemusement at the threat, the wild within nearly rising up to the rush of challenge, but Anahita keeps herself contained.
"I must profess you are perceptive. You saw through my attempts to lead the conversation elsewhere. I shall not pry further on your history without consent. I am concerned with my well being, however, I accepted, willingly, where I am today and thus, am solely responsible for it. Given the pause and our talk, I realize that I am over taxed, augmenting my natural sleep with magic, as glorious as that is, is the potential result of my state. It is likely too, that my ethereal self, the non-physical, soul side, may be equally tired. I do not believe my magics can affect that -- just the body. I need rest. I need affection and distractions, moments to commune with the glory of nature as before, and better social ties than what I have now. Yet, I am torn-- the things I have seen lately, done, simply magnificent. Worlds visited, places travelled too, impossible to describe without taking time to collect one's thoughts. To do otherwise would be insulting to the wonder and awe I feel."
She does have a slight spaced out expression at the recalling, then her focus returns to Illithia. "It's ...nothing like I've witnessed before, and I felt old. I feel renewed, but, physically, I'm as healthy as I can be. I assure you of that. I am well versed in medical situations."
Then noticing the sushi there, perhaps way tepid, she reaches over to pick one up and eat it.
"So, how have you been? Anything new since we last met?" Not an overt change of subject, as much as, perhaps that last one's done.
"Ace" |
"He teaches Stealth." Tyrrin replies a touch tersely, pursing her lips thoughtfully before continuing. "In theory. I've never actually seen him, which I suppose means he does his job well."
"Okay, tracking is out then. As annoying as Mister Tokala can be, I don't doubt either his ability or yours in that regard." Tyrrin carries on thoughtfully, standing up and pacing in the room's open space.
Tyrrin seems to be muttering to herself as she paces. "Attacked Kitty and Ginni [...] both tieflings [...] are the types of wounds relevant?" she stops and glances at Ace. "If we can't catch this murderer from the physical clues alone, what else do we have? At very least, we know that they seem to be exclusively targeting young female tieflings. That should tell us something."
"Wait... was Kitty's mind attacked in a similar manner to Ginni's?"
"No, though her memories were messed with, I think. I believe she was made to see Michael as her killer, or at least somebody very much like him. Hence why I was a possible suspect. Michael was going to help Keme and I, but Kitty needed him more, though I am unsure where they are. Should I send him a message to let him know another murder has occurred?"
Ardiente |
"Hey, what's wrong? Are you sick?" she asks, concerned.
Ardiente looks increasingly worried, and a little guilty as Raelle approaches, fiddling with his hands nervously and not making eye contact - in general acting entirely un-Ardiente.
"Uh... hey. No, not sick, not really." Ardiente says evasively, trying to sort out in his mind how he's going to simultaneous break to Raelle that her sister is dead, and that the lab needs her help or the universe might end.
It's all just a little surreal for Ardiente, and he's obviously having trouble coping with it.
Djalos Tyon |
Djalos shrugs. "I just hope that they get it out-whatever "it" is. When Raelle pointed it out, I noticed this weird feeling in the back of my mind. I guess it's always been there-never noticed it before, though."
Lyn, would the arrows instead lead to Mrs. Jones, as the other psychic healers of enough caliber to remove the block are otherwise occupied?

Illy's grin only finds more fuel at Anahita's responding smirk, and the colour is slowly draining away from the embarrassed pink shade and towards the earlier playfully purple colour when she sat down.
"Sorry Ana, but that ain't how friendship works! You aren't solely responsible for yourself. I'm responsible for you too. Duh. It's like you've never..."

Jeran Darkclaw wrote:"Umm....my mech is kept off of school grounds. It isn't safe for her to leave the wards. They aren't perfect, but any level of protection is better than none. Anyways, if you can communicate with machines, you can just give the information to this," he said pulling out a small data pad from his pocket, "and I can use this to put the coordinates in to the mech."Looking at the data pad, the Angel tilts it's head slightly (ever so) as he gazed upon it and then reached out to touch it, apparently that was sufficient to activate it, power it, and then use the processes for storage.
"I am using my current location as the point of reference. You will note, it is a vast distance away. If you go there, I am not certain of the conditions, save what I can see, which is the vastness of space, minus any stars in quite a distance around his current location. He has not moved in the time since I have discovered him-- save to die repeatedly, it would seem."
There's an odd, indifference to the Angel's voice. As if discussing the way a cookie falls apart. Clearly he's not attached to Tryko'Sam's situation at all.
"Got it. Thanks. I'll be careful going in, but yeah. I'm guessing without a suit he's pretty helpless out there. Hopefully I won't be gone long."
He pulled a small earpiece out of his pocket and slipped it in his ear as he left the infirmary. "Boss, I need a favor. I need to retrieve a missing student from deep space. I need to take out my mech....err....I also need a forcecage. It's kind of a long story. I can explain on the way, but I need to let the rest of the rescue party know what's up first. Thanks."
He used the arrows to quickly find Kevin. "New mission parameters. I know where Sam is and it's in deep space. I'm going to go fetch him now. Should be back soon unless things go terribly wrong. But we still need to get him separated from that demon thing. So umm....let the others know okay?"

Things that don't make you frown so much. Then you'll feel better because you'll be thinking about happy things," she said with the cheerful self-assurance of the very young.
Jacob finally manages to wrangle a sentence out of his throat. "No! No, it's fine, don't do that. I was just... thinking." He sighs heavily. An intricate, yet jagged white scar is barely visible on his forehead. Anybody who looks at it gets a faint feeling of unease...Jacob is fairly tall for his age- five foot three, maybe four-and has curly brown hair. He wears a black felt jacket with black slacks and a green scarf. His eyes are very strange-they constantly shift colors, and sometimes they hold strange designs within them. The young boy's posture suggests an introverted, shy kid.

Ryleh blinked. "Oh. Er, yes, that would do nicely. I did not realize you could conjure those things here so easily. I thought it would end up like last time and current circumstances make going offworld at present impractical."
She smiled just a little. "And remind me later to show you the thing I was speaking about. It is something that my daughter made. It creates virtual environments. Very practical for teaching children to handle danger without subjecting them to any real harm."
Sheessuroussen just smiles, and begins to walk to the clearing, "If you can make a bowl shaped depression in the center of the clearing... fifty feet or so around, I can do the rest. He says this and waits for her to oblige, knowing the power of her Earth magic.

Ehos shakes his head defiantly as Alys apologizes. If he's realized at all that Alys' speech is hurting him, then he doesn't show it.
Ehos begins to relate Alys' story, though she has to pause occasionally to allow those reading to catch up. Over the course of the telling, Ehos looks increasingly worse for wear. By the time it's over, he's sitting with his head in one hand and the datapad in the other. He waves off any further attempts by Nala to heal him or Alys to stop, saying that he'll 'be fine'.
It doesn't take a perceptive person to realize that Alys' words are causing Ehos physical pain, and Nala suspects that whatever ability which allows Ehos to understand Alys is backfiring, his mortal brain unprepared for the Words of Reality itself.
"I think that you need to go and rest. If you won't accept healing at least accept that. Pushing your mind until it breaks will not help anyone," she said crisply. "And thank you," she added in a softer tone. "Both of you."
"Alys, I must ask you to refrain from speaking as much as possible. It attracts the Others. And especially not anymore today around Ehos. He is trying to appear strong, but he's at his limit. The speech of Reality is a difficult thing for a mortal mind to process."

Now, I am giving you some leeway since you have had an upsetting experience and this is your first day here, but you need to understand that if I ever hear you refer to any member of my family as a 'sootblood' again you will be spending a substantial amount of time in detention. That isn't a threat. It's fair warning. As is the mention that detentions around here can be very creative."
"Now, I presume we are done with particular bit of unpleasantness. My point remains valid Miss Svarog. The only ones displaying abnormal abilities are the children of noble houses. What you are experiencing is in fact perfectly normal."
Lily blinks as Sorchan states his non-threat, clearly non-plussed. "Understood, sir." she replies placidly.
"What of that..." Lily bites her tongue, stopping short whatever she was going to say before seeming to carefully reconsider. "What of the commoner that was to be executed? As I understand, he was not pure-blooded and yet displayed strange powers as well."
Sorchan, Phaezeriel, and Serrin get the impression that Lily is trying to argue her way out of her own powers. Trying to justify it, trying to reach at anything to get out of this. Even in her emotionless state, there's a kind of placid desperation to her arguements.
"Ardiente's earth powers are the product of his non-firebird heritage yes, as his fire powers are the product of his firebird heritage. Because that is apparently what happens when two races that usually breed true breed with each other. Somehow I doubt the rest of you are secretly descended from dragons, so no, I'm sorry Miss Svarog, but that explanation won't hold fire. He is the exception and the rest of you are the rule."
"And he was executed. And revived. Unfortunately we were too late to rescue his parents. The Council broke their own laws that day. I had little respect for them before that and none after. But that is not the point, is it? The point is that you have to accept what is. And that means learning to control your powers. If you never choose to use them after that, then by all means, that's your choice to make. But you cannot ignore them. You could hurt yourself and others. The larger than normal robed kobold does not bow or observe custom, he just is.
"Ahh, you must be Lang. My wife has left on an emergency. My focus here is now to see that your ceremony is not interrupted because of that, and make sure all of her students are taken care of in the mean time. If that can not be arranged, then I'm afraid you should all return to Avalon with me, now. Otherwise, I will return when the ceremony is over, and retrieve you all then."
Lang Fei |
Lang bows to Krays, when Krays does not make any attempt to return the bow, lang does have a look of being insulted , but he says nothing out of respect.
If master Balckscales had to leave here for an emergency that is fine, but there is no need for any of us to return to the school, unless of course you feel that my home is not sufficient to care for our needs.
this temple is equipped with a teleport room tied to the school, we can return via that, when the ceremony and the party after are concluded. which was part of our original plan.
Krays |
He raises an eyeridge, and speaks sharply.
"I do not mean offense, nor did I imply this place was incapable of providing for you. If arrangements for your food and board have already been made for the duration of your stay, then so be it. You may be the Avatar, young Lang, but you are still a child that I am responsible for, as a member of the staff at Avalon. I will not shirk that duty, no matter what transpires, nor for what passes in your mind as being needed or not."
He looks at the adult that accompanied Lang.
"Will this be a problem if these students remain here without their chaperone until the ceremony is concluded? Will you arrange their transport back to Avalon?"

finally he simply moves on, You are welcome to stay if you wish. Lang offers the invitation to Krays.

"Oh, it is alright, young man. Thank you. I would like to stay, however there are other matters I must attend to. If I am able, I will return for your ceremony, with Mrs. Blackscales." Anahita follows as Illy speaks, glancing down only once briefly at the start, then back up while looking at the young girl with coloring, straight in the eyes. Clearly a point was made, or true, but she proudly didn't respond to it verbally, or deny it.
"I do not see the point of visiting my quarters, truth be told. I assure you that I am well now, with focus comes awareness. With intent, the sloth that creeps in me fades. I have endured for a week or so without much rest, I can manage this. As for overstimulated-- yes, I cannot seem to stop looking into everything, thinking about everything. Yet, it feels good-- no, it feels great, to think. Even on the silliest things. There is a pattern to this, I'm certain, but I'm unsure being present to it as I am, the reason for it. A reason that one day, will be expressed clearly. Perhaps not today."
She finishes up the last of her remaining few sushi pieces and then looks back to Illithia, "Do you fancy any of the persons here, Illy? Your silent companion, perhaps? If I am being too forward, do let me know."
Glancing about she spies on the few Firebirds in the room, or open sources of fire, then back to Illy again.
"Ace" |
Suddenly, Ace remembers something "OH! In all the insanity, I forgot Zilla, who I have not met, was also murdered, according to Keme. I do not believe she's a tiefling, so that throws that theory out the window"
He then sends the following to Michael "Michael. New murder, this time Ginni. Meeting with Tyrrin and Jaiye in my room now, discussing our next move. Lots of dead ends."

He grimaces slightly, ::Please keep in mind that I use the terms 'anomaly' and 'mutation' only in the sense that they do not fit the misguided genetic ideal.::
He pauses for a moment, as if reluctant to speak again. When he continues, his thoughts are laced with a deep sadness the origin of which is unclear, ::The only tragedy is when the group discards or destroys those whose only 'crime' is to be born different.::

"I think that you need to go and rest. If you won't accept healing at least accept that. Pushing your mind until it breaks will not help anyone," she said crisply. "And thank you," she added in a softer tone. "Both of you."
"Alys, I must ask you to refrain from speaking as much as possible. It attracts the Others. And especially not anymore today around Ehos. He is trying to appear strong, but he's at his limit. The speech of Reality is a difficult thing for a mortal mind to process."
Alys looks at Nala quizzically, then fishes a pencil and a notepad out of her bag and, with a look of intense concentration, begins trying to write.

It takes several minutes and there is much scratching out, many sounds of frustration, and several crumpled bits or paper, but she presents a piece with a fragmented series of thoughts written on it.

"Do you think there's like a worm or something in your head?"
They arrive at a door as she asks a weird question.
He can hear her try the other side of the door.
"The door doesn't say infirmary, but the arrows keep pointing to it. The sign says p-si-choh-there-appy."
"Because apparently the school likes to rearrange the labeling on the doors as well as the classrooms' locations," a crisp voice says as the door swings open. A woman dressed in a professional yet unflattering style is seated at a desk. Her hair is pulled back into a severe bun and she looks at them over the top of her glasses as if measuring their worth.
"I am Miss Jones. I teach enchantment. However, based on the door's change I am guessing you aren't here about classes. What sort of crisis are we dealing with this time?" she asked getting straight to business.

"When you speak it draws their attention. Like....dangling bait in front of a fish. The more times you speak, the more likely it is that one of the Others will come across the border when you draw the sword. Too much and you may find a whole army coming through one of these times."
Djalos Tyon |
Djalos strides into the Enchantment classroom and pulls up a chair that Archen could've sworn wasn't there before. "Greetings, Miss Jones," the young elf begins, his tone crisp, clean, and clinical. "My name is Djalos Tyon, of the... formerly of the Anonemuss clan. It has recently come to my attention that I have a psychic block in my mind, most likely placed there by my handler. I do not know the purpose of this block, but Raelle del Sol, who noticed it, cautioned me that it may be detrimental to my mental health. I was guided here by Archena, as I cannot see due to my powers. Is there anything you can do to remove this block in my mind?"

"Even if it means the death of everyone at Avalon? And possibly the entire world beyond?"

"Even if it means the death of everyone at Avalon? And possibly the entire world beyond?"
Alys looks at Ryuzo for a long moment, obviously thinking about his questions, then returns to her notepad in an attempt to write. Her focus seems not to be what it had previously been, however, and several attempts produce nothing but the strange characters that are the written form of her language. Lowering the notepad, she growls in frustration and simply stands looking at Ryuzo and Nala with a deep scowl clouding her features.

"I did not ask these things to judge your character, just in order to get you to think logically about what you just said for a moment."
Nala Zamarosok |
"We do not know at present why you are like this. For all we know you are intended to be some sort of warden. But it is also possible that this was done to you in order to make you an instrument of destruction. What we do know is that if you continue to use your abilities wildly without proper knowledge as you have done will result in destruction worse than you have ever imagined.
The good news is that we have the means to find more information. The library at Avalon is more than merely extensive. It can grant us access to every book ever written. Including some lost ancient fey texts that are likely our best shot at figuring out what exactly happened to you and why the border reopened. Given the stakes, I do not believe it is too much to ask that you refrain from using your abilities while we are searching for that information. Then we can all make more informed decisions about what is the correct way to proceed," she said, seemingly calm, although frost patterns curled along her lab coat where her hands clutched at it nervously. She had managed to stop refrigerating the entire room for now, however, so there was that.

Alys makes a couple of marks on her notepad, scribbles out a section, tears off the front sheet, folds it twice so only a small portion is showing, and hands that to Nala. She then speaks two words that carry more weight than her speech before, and reality shifts to make her will manifest. Another illusion pops into existence in front of her like a three panel storyboard.
The three images seem to go along with the paper she handed to Nala. The legible words now read, "I will limit my speaking. I will use them as I must. I am aware of the danger, but I will be that which I am." The first shows her standing with a piece of cloth tied over her mouth and her blade loosely tied into its scabbard. In the second she is obviously studying in a library. In the third she is in a classroom setting wielding magic.
Still scowling, she turns toward the door.

"We'll find out. Come on, I've managed to make a little workplace in my room, I'll show you how I make stuff."
Taika takes her brother's hands and walks out to the hall where she lights up the arrows to her room. When the get there she opens the door and walks in, holding up her arm for the tiny metal humanoid that lands on it and waves at Vis.
"Have you met Arma before?"

Miss Jones raised an eyebrow. "I hadn't realized that Miss del Sol had progressed so far in developing her psychic abilities," she said dryly. "I am capable of removing this mental block of yours provided it wasn't placed there by a deity. THat would require more time. However, provided your handler was mortal, this should be a fairly simple matter. I will require permission to access your mind and examine the areas around the psychic block. If for some reason I discover that the block is placed there in the interest of your safety or the safety of those around you I reserve the right to refuse to remove it. If. as I think is more likely, it was simply placed in a misguided attempt at control, then I will remove it as requested and will provide counseling as necessary to help you through the process of its removal. More long term therapy may be required and is outside my area of expertise. In that case I would refer you to someone else who can help. Are these terms acceptable? Do I have your permission to proceed?" she asked in a crisp, businesslike tone.
