The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

There is a slight commotion(lost in the much bigger commotion that is the beach ball party) as a few students suddenly become crowd surfers.

"You see her yet?" Kam asks Taron as he tosses another student brave(foolish actually) to try and hit him over his shoulder.

"Not yet." Taron says as he skates through the crowd. "Jiminy is easy to find, since I just have to follow a beach ball and wait for it to get back to him. Ephebe though.. maybe I should try to her attention."

He stops skating long enough to throw a ball of purple fire high into the air, where it hangs for a few moments like a flare.

Spin's antics coax a rare smile from Ephebe. "Nice, to meet you Spin. I'm Ephebe. And this is Nasima. And that's Asch and Amada."

She raised an eyebrow at his attempted mental intrusion.
::It's not polite to try and read someone's mind without their permission,:: she thought to him, reproachfully.

Just then she noticed the purple flare and stood on tiptoes trying to see where it came from. She waved her arms when she spotted the direction, trying to get Taron to notice where her group was.

Nasima's surface thoughts, it wouldn't occur to her to hide them:
*giggle* Oh it's the cute boy from before!

Any further probing into 'Sima's head, by the way, would lead to a nasty shock. Most of the rest of her brain is locked down and defended viciously by Khoda, a fact she is completely unaware of. Even getting close and probing the walls results in the psionic equivalent of a punch in the throat, and being added to Khoda's 'threat' list.

Nasima smiles shyly at Spin and gives a little wave. "Hi I'm Nasima. We saw you earlier coming out of the headmaster's office. Well we were. Coming out. You were going in." the sylph rolls her eyes at her own sudden inarticulateness.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Oh missed the save...
Will Save:
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 oh add 2 to that not that it helps. Oh this is gona be fun :)

Spin:
Hunger, pain, anger, betrayal, sadness, blood, and death. Fire blood and death encompass all of Asch's thoughts the one saving grace from this insanity is the thoughts of Amada holding all this at bay from washing over and destroying his mind.

Ahh the twisted mind of a dhampir.

Asch Redgrave wrote:
"Assembly? I suppose we have to go to that as well." Asch says as he and Amada head towards the assembly. "You all coming?"

She walks briskly next to him all the while clutching his hand. She looks around and responds to Asch in a jesting manner,

"Well what did you do this time? Are they going to make an example of you? I guess you will have to go up in front of all of us as they explain to the students what IMPROPER school behavior is."

She giggled a little. She suddenly wished she was back in the cafeteria devouring the rolls again. She looked back and took one look at Silver and began laughing at the poor little dragon. He always had this strange expression on his face like he was up to no good. While she looked back at him, she scanned around from the corner of her eye. She studied her surroundings well. She wanted to make sure nothing happens to Ephebe. For some reason, since she was a child she had this strange overwhelming sense to protect those she feels needed protecting and she did her best to do so.

rising to the surface of the gate of this prison i see again the threats, the auras of those who would harm. my complete inability to speak with this channel continues to stymie me. i must sound like some primal life form to it, some inarticulate glob of energy. some of the beings near, what power they have, the things they could assist with, and oh how fine they would taste. but in the meantime, i can only do as much as i can do, and keeping this meat shell in one piece is the best course, even if it means sounding like a dunce. until then i wait. i wait for an opening.

Khoda rises to the surface, dismissing the shapechanger's eager thought-probe, lapping like a summer squall at the edge of the channel's mind. Concentrating, the god of lightning speaks in the horrid, crude common that is all he can muster across so great a gap of spacetime:

"HIM. THREAT. THAT ONE."

His last action is to tug its eyes to Lysander, then sit back and hope for the best.

Male Kobold Expert 6/Slayer 8

Ah, in case the mind reading is extends to down here...
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Vakkler's hisses, his eyes shining in the dark. He allows one thought to get through.

Spin:
Little brat. Watch where you poke your mind, whoever you are. Next time you may find yourself stuck.

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

Earlier.
Asch's jaw drops slightly. "Baby, I'm not 'that' bad. I'm sure there are others who are worse." He says indignantly.

Present

"What's going on over there?" He says when he sees the flare.

Taron's Will Save:1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 2 = 26
Kame's Will Save:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Ephebe wrote:

"There she is." Taron says as he reaches out to grab Kamenwati's hand. The next moment, they are both standing right next to Ephebe. "Hey sis, how you doing?"

F Sylph

Spin::
When you read 'Sima's thoughts, her astral self will briefly be an ethereally beautiful version of herself, but will quickly be replaced by a horrid cloud-like malignancy crowned with a red-socketed skull. It is the size of a planet and shot through with lightning bolts, each the size of a small sun. It shoves you rudely out of 'Sima's head, probably giving you a small headache. It is a horrid thing to see, not least because of its complete incongruity with the slim and delicate sylph in whose head it resides.

"Unf." 'Sima reels momentarily, as if shocked by lightning, and puts her hands to her temples. She looks over Lysander, then speaks to Ephebe. "That guy." she indicates Lysander. "What's his deal? Has he...hurt you before? Or even just threatened to?"

"You.. need to start.. warning me.. when you do that." Kam says as his illusion pales to match the way he's feeling. "Hey Phebes."

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe watched Amada out of the corner of her eye. She had a feeling that trying to keep her secret from this girl was not going to be possible given Asch's relationship with her, and she wanted some idea if Amada could be trusted. So far her impression was positive.

She glanced over and caught a glimpse of Lysander and shuddered involuntarily, quickly looking anywhere else but at him.

BPs: 32/32 :: Status: Unharmed :: Dodge 18; Soak 21

Spin shuts down his wandering mind, grabbing his head at all the shocking input and trying to cover his embarrassment.

Okay, so the toothy kid is crazy, the kobold teacher is crotchety, Ephebe can talk to my brain, Nasima thinks I'm cute but the horrid monster that apparently guards her brains wants to squich me like a bug. Score! he thinks as he takes everyone in. "Nice to meet everyone. So what's goin' on here?" He does take a second to try to make eye contact with Nasima.

Not sure if Sinh is in range but...

Will Save 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32

Spin hits a wall of total zen static. :p

Khoda wrote:

Lysander almost smiles. If some creature like that thought he was a threat, he was going to be able to avoid most fights just by word of mouth.

Which made protecting his cousins easier, if less fun, since he wouldn't be distracted. The second guardian couldn't watch them forever after all.

"He hasn't hurt me. Just threatened. I...I think he's a Hunter. He's not the one who's been stalking me. And he definitely wasn't responsible for the attack on me in the lunchroom, but he said something...He referred to my grandmother. By name. And he referred to her as infamous."

F Sylph

"Really. Wow. Because, um, Khoda just told me he's a threat. And leaving out how bizarre it is that Khoda spoke to me and didn't just boom out his usual threats, I can't fathom what he's trying to tell me about that guy. Like I don't know if he's a threat to me, or to Khoda, or what. Though I can't imagine what Khoda would think is a threat."

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

"You said hunter!?" He said eagerly as if he was hoping for a fight. "So I'll probably get to fight him later right?"

Asch is probably not the best person for guard duty since he likes fighting. Though probably a very good choice if you are already expecting a fight. :)

Actually Khoda could care less about Lysander per se; he/it only cares about keeping his channel to the material plane, i.e., Nasima, safe and held together, and if that means protecting others around her, then so be it. But I like that Lysander took it that way; it's gonna make things interesting. Very awesome. :-)

"Probably. But do me a favor and don't start anything. If he starts something, well, go for it, but we've got enough to worry about already. No sense fighting on two fronts if we don't have to."

"That explains why I've felt two dangerous auras in the school at least. Doesn't explain the others... All together I've noticed four more that feel like him, and none of them are ever around long enough for me to identify them."

Then we are very similar beings. Should make for an uneasy truce if it ever comes to that. Of course, all it takes is one of my cousins sneaking off...

"Great. Just what we need. A whole cadre of Hunters. And watch out for strange coins. Seriously. The last thing we need right now is to alarm the student body even more with an unexpected transformation."

She could see that Asch was starting to get very excited about the prospect of possibly fighting someone and she knew then she needed to calm him a bit.

"Now Asch remember that tiny voice in the DEEP recesses of your mind? You know the one that says to stay calm and not to jump into anything you might regret?"

Her voice trails off slightly and molds into a huge grin. She couldn't help herself,

"You know the one that sounds like mine and if you close your eyes you can see me holding a big stick ready to wallop you on the head if you even think anything stupid!"

She giggled and bopped him on the head gently with a pen as if it was the stick she was talking about.

'Sima catches herself staring openly at Taron and jerks her gaze away, hopefully before he notices.

Oh gosh. Ephebe's brother is really cute, too. Well at least something is going well today. She smiles happily to herself. One of the Little Guys tangles itself up in her hair, twisting it into an elaborate series of whorls and swirls before getting bored and going off to bump into one of Jiminy's balls.

...er, you know what I mean. ;-D

"Yes, one true-form shock in a month is quite enough." Taron says with a teasing grin as he looks an Kam. He quickly loses the grin, however, when he notices the way Kam is acting. Wide eyes, ragged breathing, and just the fainest whiff of brimstone... and all from noticing Amanda.

"Kam.." Taron says as he steps in between the two. He glances at Ephebe as he grabs Kamenwati by the shoulders. "You know she's a demon, right?"

"Kam. Look at me. You of all people should know not to judge by appearances. I have plenty of reason to hate demons. But you taught me not to jump to conclusions and to give people a chance first. Take a breath and really look this time, okay? She's not evil. I wouldn't be standing here right next to her if she was."

The microphone made a horrible shrieking noise as the sound system shorted out. The hapless teacher trying to bring things to order looked like he was going to cry.

"I.. can't. Sorry Phebes, I tried."

"Oww! Ok, ok I promise I won't start anything, but if he starts it all bets are off." He says with a smile for Amada as he raises his hands up in surrender as he laughs. You can tell by the way he acts towards her that she is his entire world she keeps him grounded.

His eyes suddenly harden when he hears Taron and sees Kam's reaction. He steps between them and Amada his eyes a blaze and his jaw being pushed apart by elongating teeth. "You touch her and I swear I'll kill you and everything you love." He says as black tendrils of energy begin snaking across his body and seem attracted to the living bodies around him.

And now we see what happens when those Asch cares about are threatened in slightest.

"Aw, poor guy." Nasima looks up with a frown. "Hm." The sylph breaks into a ballerina-like spin, gathering wind about her at a frantic pace -- heat from the school's HVAC, Little Guys, confused passing breezes from cracks and open windows. As her spin picks up speed she becomes the center of a tiny tornado that lifts off and flies over the student body, landing Nasima on the stage by the beleaguered instructor. With a final spin she ends in a stance almost resembling something out of a martial arts kata, with one leg straight out and the other crouched impossibly low. Both arms push out, dismissing the tornado out as a 100+MPH gust of wind that momentarily takes everyone's breath away, plunging the auditorium into temporary silence.

"Hey guys, Hi. I'm Nasima, and I think this guy wants to talk to us all?" She looks hopefully at the teacher, suddenly a little embarrassed to be in front of the whole school.

Male Pygmy Slurk

Slarrow stands bolt upright on Vakklers lap.
*Ribbit*

Amada stands back a bit a little in shock at what was going on. She looks up at who Asch and gently tugs on his sleeve. With a big shy smile she says rather quickly,
"Eh, um sorry about that, he uh has some problems with anyone who might say anything about me that doesn't set well..."
She clears her throat with a few nervous chuckles,
"My name is Amada, though many confuse it for Amanda."
She couldn't help but smile again before continuing,
"It is a pleasure to meet you, this is Asch in case you didn't meet him yet."
Her voice trails off and she nervously flails her hand behind her in hopes that Asch would hold it. It's times like these she wishes she could rip out her horns and pretend to be "normal".

"YEAH! WHAT THE CUTE GIRL IN THE FRONT SAID! TIME TO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP PEOPLE!" Jiminy yelled from the audience, adding to Nasima's embarrasment.

"A pleasure." Taron says, not taking his eyes off of Asch as he pushes Kam further behind him. "Don't worry, Amada, it's not you we have problems with, just demons in general."

Whispering and trying not to make too much noise while the teacher is talking,
"Sorry about him snapping like that, I hope we can get along"
She quickly slips another kind smile then looks over at Asch and gives him a hug. At least he stood up for her, its very noble of him. She didn't know whether to scold him or be proud of him. She settled for a hug instead.

Hurries onto the stage and takes mic from the undine, and starts tinkering with it.

"Well, no wonder it's not working. You've dripped all over it. I've told you over and over, if you're going to use the equipment you've got to get someone to put the protective case on it first," she whispered just a little too loud.

Asch's jaw muscles clench up as he tries to keep his calm or at least what passes as calm for him. His hands clench and uncleanch at his sides. He visibly relaxes when Amada hugs him, the tendrils disappear like smoke in the wind and his eyes return to their normal crimson.

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe relaxed once Asch did and hurriedly took a seat, not wanting to cause undue attention now that the assembly was starting.

Aananda finished fixing the mic and handed it back to the other teacher, inside its waterproof case this time.

"Uh-hummm..." he began uncertainly. "Thank you Miss Nasima. You may return to your seat now."

"Hello and welcome all of you to the beginning of another exciting term here at Avalon Academy. I am Mr Gilly."
