The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

fort save: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23 I probabaly get a +2 but can't be sure since I don't know the type of source, I figure a fair chance of it being necromancy school magic effect which gets the +2 . SR 27 also must be passed.

Vickory laughs, and speaking in the dark speech, "I am not some mere mortal, I am a reapling! Created by the great Shiara Sorenson! We reaplings enjoy much, but we are never the subservient play things of others, we are the masters. Now, given the losses so far, your chance to feel the best pain is fleeting. The others will be here soon to finish their work and destroy you. Sure you don't want some nice pain before you go?"

Completely truthfull this time around.

I think based on how they've integrated with our patient zero here that they might be able to use her higher brain functions to think with when she's conscious. But they can't do that with a dead host and they haven't figured out how to keep a host alive. If we act fast this will not become a problem we have to consider. Ryuzo has been getting scans for me from Kuros so I could study the effects more closely. The violence appears more coordinated when the numbers are greater. Isolation is the key here."

Almost as if her words were a trigger, there is a beeping coming from the stasis monitors. The monitor that is beeping is reporting unusual activity from inside the stasis field, and the numbers representing active cells are climbing steadily. The only possible explanation is that the virus has finally figured a way to modify the girl's bone marrow to produce stasis resistant viruses. With a swift calculation, Nala adjusts the modulation on the stasis field and the numbers suddenly drop nearly to zero.

** spoiler omitted **

"Even in stasis, the virus adapts....I've got it under control for now. And I'm gaining enough information to render it inert in patient zero. If you need to keep it from mutating for a bit, hitting it with antimagic is definitely the way to go....just don't try to hit it with fire....the records from when patient zero was apprehended show that the virus at that time had already adapted to fire. Better to contain it and let it die on its own. The biggest problem is treating the infected but not yet dead. Given the virulence of this disease, what's left of the town's residents are likely to already be infected," she said as she refined the nanite program to better reflect the new information she had gained.

Wait, what? o.O

Does anyone else in that group have anything to say about this?

remove the acton. Please. I don't know what I'm doing- having problems keeping up, don't even know what the plan is anymore. I did mean any infected, though, not innocent townspeople.

Okay, that makes more sense...I was caught off-guard by the way it was phrased....sorry for the over-reaction. :)

It's fine if he strikes out at infected to try and capture them. At first that would do half damage....after a few successful hits it does no damage as the virus has adapted to holy/unholy as well as fire. If you want to retcon it out, go ahead. I thought you guys were told the virus was immune to fire. If not, that was a GM mistake, so of course you can take back an action made with bad info.

In general, would the folks in Kuros prefer to just narrate the rest rather than play out separate encounters? It's pretty much all clean-up from here. The only real variables left are finding out whether the virus has already had a chance to spread out from Kuros to the rest of the planet and figuring out how to treat all the still living people of Kuros so they don't die.

Across the cave, the ghostly girl seemingly attached to the dark machine stirs noiselessly, her undead and supposedly incorporeal form seemingly trapped within the confines of the machine's dark clutches.

"Ummm....I....I think that the teeth take some getting used to....but your wings are still real pretty," he said, trying to be brave and not unkind....it was just hard.

Rena's eyes fall, and she tucks her head down a bit, sensing Bradley's disappointment but perhaps not quite understanding why. "I'll... I'll try not to show you my teeth." she answered quietly, unsure how to act now, though she unconsciously flapped her wings when he mentioned them. At least Bradley was being honest with her, and not trying to hide his fear. "I... there's another healing potion there, if you're still sore." she added, trying to keep the slight tremble out of her silken voice. For some reason, she had thought he would've been overjoyed with her true form, but time and again her appearance had only brought fear to those whom she wanted to befriend. She should ask Vare tonight to change her back into a humanoid. It would be better for everyone.

"No...it...it's my problem, not yours," he said, dejected. "I'm sorry. I don't want to be like Ursula....I....just I'm sorry....it's....been a really bad day and....that's not a good excuse....I'm trying to get used to it, really I am....I'm sorry."

He put his head down on his knees and tried very hard not to cry. Mostly he just wanted to go home, but they didn't want him there either. And the pigeon coop seemed like it was miles away. He had no idea how he was going to make it. He knew he should just drink the healing potion and make a run for it, but he just didn't have enough faith that he'd actually make it in anything resembling one piece. The school was so full of suffering after last night's attack. And now he was adding to it instead of making it better. So much for being a hero. He really couldn't do anything right.

The virus can adapt to anything. That's the whole point of hitting it with anti-magic. It stops it from adapting.

It was Rena's turn to feel like crap - she was being selfish when he was already hurting. She had to remember that she had found Bradley in a pile of garbage. She needed to be there for him, instead of making him feel worse.

She nudged him gently with her snout as he curled up. "I'm sorry too. I... I'm being selfish. I'm... I'm not going to hurt you." she says again, but this time with a specific reason. After she had said that, she starts to coil herself protectively around Bradley's sorrowful form. The feathers and scales are slightly cool to the touch, but she was insulating him, which meant warmth. She had done this once when Vare had been injured - to protect and comfort him. Once she was finished, it was practically a cocoon of feathers around him, with Rena gently nuzzling him from the hole in the top of the coils, where he could keep his head out and still breathe. She really hoped she wasn't scaring him further with this 'hug'. "... Just tell me if I'm scaring you or you want me to stop, alright Bradley?" she says after a moment, the sheltering coils still allowing him a full range of movement.

The main thing we need to do is try to contain any damage the remaining infected do, and if possible, stop the virus from progressing so that we can save as many as we may." Okay, I'm going to start taking liberties here because this story arc has stalled out and how, so please forgive me for railroading just a bit to get things back on track.

Over the course of the afternoon, they were able to round up the rest of the infected....well, at this point pretty much everyone in town was infected, but they were able to round up the already dead but still walking around. It got easier as they left the virus with fewer and fewer minds to think with. With some help from the remaining medical personnel and clerics in town they were able to organize treatments for the survivors.

Meanwhile Aananda got some help from Dennis to get the factories nanotanks cranking out nanites that could render the virus non-infectious. She released the nanites as fast as they could be produced, letting them spread out over the countryside and the town.

Seer Denulia was able to locate a train that had left from Kuros carrying the infection. Thankfully it was an express train so it had not made any stops as of yet, and there is still time to intercept it and possibly save any potential survivors, although in close quarters and for this length of time, the chance of there being any survivors was small. If the train wasn't intercepted the infection would begin to spread across the rest of Agartha faster than they could treat it.
