Aananda had been frantically hitting buttons on her wristband as she worked to quarantine, study, and eradicate the program trying to access the commnet. As she finished she looked up.
The intrusive program is clearly imperial in origin, and very single-minded in its purpose. Embedded in the code is a distress signal and a location tag that would correctly identify the location of Agartha if it had been able to activate the communication array.
The destination of the program, where it was trying to call, is heavily encrypted.
Kezzin |
Yup! Aside from a rickety crossbow-like apparatus strapped to his back, and a fair few pouches at his belt, he's a pretty ordinary-looking dude.
Vakkler scowls at Kezzin. ** spoiler omitted **
He gestures to the two-headed fey looming over him and gives a short, barking laugh.
** spoiler omitted **Professor Relkav seems naturally more at ease around his own kind, even when his kind is twice his size and possessing two extra limbs.
Kezzin shrugs apologetically.
Amber & Opel kosmima |
With their back to the scaly ones Amber and Opel look down as if inspecting some insects near a spiders web.
Amber asks Opel off handily
"Sister mine, is the little one sucking up"
Opel to her sister wile inspecting the web.
"Why sister, I do believe the little one is to an almost epic level, if it sucks any harder, we may not need the cleaner in for weeks"
They lean back up turn and smile sweetly to the room.

Hermes I think as your on the ship you would spot it to has a Virus, Carl is not there, so its Your call on what you do with it or if you tell any one. Carls ships so basic its probably on 3 punch cards, you can just cut em up or hand em over
Carl sits eating with hes new pal's starting to worry where Arthur is.

And the fact that your ship is so primitive in certain ways works to your advantage. ;)
HRMS-XI "Hermes" |
Carl's communicator with the ship lights up and Hermes' voice comes through.
::Mr.Promethium, the Hammershaft has experienced an attack on its system. I believe it is linked to the one I also received. Would you like to be transported and inspect the alert?::
Carl "Ironfist" Promethium |
Carl jumps, "Righ ye are Hermes, we will come over, asked some new mates if they wanted a ride up to see the sun before is dismantled, all respectful like, just be a shame to miss a chance ta see it."
Then to the others
"right time to go, come outside with me and Ill get Hermes to Teleport us over"
Once they are a group, Carl will call Hermes
"Hermes bring us over"
Once they get to the ship Carl will say.
"Ill give ya a look round in a moment just need to see Hermes and sort something"
He runs up to the flight deck and gos over to the stack of punch cards
Hermes has.
"Right, what am I looking at Hermes?"
HRMS-XI "Hermes" |
He sets up the teleport pad.
::I understand your reasoning, but I feel that any space they occupy would be better used to retrieve the migrant Firebirds. We are on a tight schedule and any time and space we loose means there is a possibility that we miss refugees who die when the sattelite is destroyed.::
He transports them to the hold, nonetheless.
When Carl arrives he shows the new program that has been punched into the cards.
With the program these cards would engage, I believe that it was made to access emergency signals. I have also recognized it as being of Imperial make, as it bears code very similar to my base original code."

Carl rubs his chin,
"Ya got a point about the space we need Hermes, I may have to tell them space is short, I think they would understand"Then when Hermes talks about the cards.
"Bleedin hell, how in Muftenons blue Sack did that get in ta be in me card puncher, was it your mucking about? no.. sorry I said that, want be you Hermes"
he thinks for a moment, "Look give Arthur, Mel and Jiminy a call and ask they thinks, that Mels a smart lass, Ill go tell the others the trips off"
With that he heads down to the hold
"I'm sorry to say we have just been told there is nee space for ya on the trip, we need every seat, I'm sorry and I will give ya a trip some place fun at a later date, but now I can give ya a look around me ship, how about that, come on ill show ya the Elemental Drive it uses"
he leads them off
Lyere |
After they are transported, he looks around and takes in the hold of the ship, nodding to himself as the illusion wears off and shows his blue-feathered body once more.
"Hm, looks like the times up, oh well."

"nee worry, I seen thing much odder then thee, they have the race of blue light gas bags, thinking ones out near the Rose Nebular, darnest thing ya even seen"
Carl shows Lyerne his ship
very much like a warhammer ship, a flying bunker in all but name, going to be off for a wile
HRMS-XI "Hermes" |
"I have already contacted Sir. I suspect that he will relay to Ms.Waverider."
Just to be clear,
Virus hits ship.
Nothing on ship is compatible, but the punch card machine.
The virus code is run through the machine and is translated to the (now metal) punch cards.
Hermes can read the info off the punch cards because he knows C++ and Binary.
If he was to put the cards through the machine, the virus would start.
Bradley Urquardht |
Rena shakes her head while it's buried into Bradley's shoulder - she's too tall to bury it in his chest after all - and is quiet for a long moment. "Bravery isn't not being afraid, it's facing your fear. I think you're very brave. Brave for taking the pain and hurt and death others might feel and pulling it onto yourself. That's real bravery. Maybe I can show you my true form someday. I would have to ask Vare or Shaypeer to turn me back for a while."
She looks up at him and smiles, no trace of the earlier sorrow. "Thank you."
"I'm not sure why you're thanking you, but I'm glad that I didn't offend you too much," he said, smiling back. He couldn't help but smile when he saw her smile.
"Oh, hi, uh, welcome back," he said, surprised when Tryko'Sam showed up from nowhere.
He looked up to where Asha was still circling the school. "Uh...maybe this is a crazy question, but....does she know how to land?"
Nala Zamarosok |
Nala Zamarosok wrote:"Oh, good, that saves a lot of time tracking him down. He was injured due to the incompetence of one of our staff....I already have the treatment prepared. Are you alright to give it to him, or should I come with you to do it?" she asked, her voice sounding strained. "And yes, I'm still in charge apparently. With Bertha gone there's no one to take charge and I'm not the right person for this. I have trouble treating patients who are over the age of twelve. But I can't just stand by and let this whole place go to hell," she added, sounding quite flustered."I just have to inject the nanites, right? Nothing tricky about it... uh. Right?" Vai asks, just a tiny bit unsure. "Maybe Phaeze can help... or Fei too. Both of them know the infirmary like the back of their hand. I wish I could help, but I'm not really a healer. Sorry."
"Yes, that's all there is to it. I've already programmed them. I included extra in case. There's a note on his chart that he tends to resist treatment."
"Oh, don't worry about me....I'll manage. It's just...I don't mind working with children, but it's difficult with older people. It's hard to work as a healer when you're afraid of being touched. And more so when you're trying to manage an infirmary staff....there are far too many huggers in this place," she said with a shudder. "I apologize for complaining. I am sure that someone will be named to succeed Bertha soon and then I can go back to working in my own office," she said with considerably more bravado than she was actually feeling.
Tryko'Sam |
Glancing over at Bradley, then back up at Asha, Tryjo'Sam says with a light shrug, "I've no idea. I'd assume being a bird creature, that's sort of like walking, right? Rena could go catch her too, or if she heads for me, I can stop her too... Depending."
With that, he yells up for Asha, "Asha! Hey Sunshine! I brought lunch-- come get some!" He waits to see if she heard him, then prepares some more of the meal he'd brought.
"You two getting along well? Hope I wasn't interrupting or nothing." He grins as he asks.
Agarthian Storyteller |
A boy who resists treatment and a healer uncomfortable with physical contact? How very strange. Like the two-headed female she had passed through accidentally. She knew from experience that they hadn't felt anything, but it was disconcerting for her. It felt like her form was being squeezed and stretched at the same time. She shuddered at the memory before moving on.

Hermes can read the info off the punch cards because he knows C++ and Binary.
If he was to put the cards through the machine, the virus would start.
It is not exactly a virus. In any event, this is more a case of trying to take something written in whatever is the newest/best code and getting it to run on a "computer" from 1964. Even if you load the punch cards, there is very little chance the code could interface with Carl's systems, and the program does not have the needed autonomy to modify itself to the Hammershaft's systems.
Arthur Barren |
Hermes promptly deletes the virus and sets a background program to apply a patch to more efficiently block future similar attacks.
::Sir, I recently experienced an attack on my systems. It has been disposed of. I am alerting you to the attack.::
::thanks, yeah, I just isolated and contained one in my own systems, seems like it was trying to get into communications, I'll look into this further when I have time::

Headmaster Ryo |
"Good day." He stands and walks through the door(which currently opens to his office) and picks up Slarrow. "Stop eating those papers, Slarrow. If you want something to eat, you should go to the cafeteria."
He takes the minuscule slurk with him when he opens the door again to greet Vakkler.
"Proffesor Relkav, welcome back!"
Vakkler Relkav |
"I've been better. Like I said in the letter--"
Vakkler stops, noticing that the letter is still tied to Slarrow's leg. He glares at Slarrow. "The slurk only just arrived now, did he?"

It might be noted in the background of the infirmary, depending on how frequently the people in their lives visit the late shift of the infirmary, that one of the usual late night nurses is doing rounds well past her scheduled hours, since the assault by 'Dark Vai's'.
A fairly average looking adult female, early or mid thirties, dark haired put up in a work effective style, or ease of setting, dressed in her infirmary garb.
She is clearly tired looking, but attending to a few special injuries that, as the school is prone too, require professional attention, thankfully without any blowtorch needs.
Obviously skilled, she does appear skilled and able with magical support as well when needed, though favors the tech, since it is clearly much more universal for all around. Once the teenager is attended too with some kind words and a salve for the injury, she cleans up and glances out the window with a bit of a sigh.
Vakkler Relkav |
"Bah!" Vakkler rubs his forehead. "Well, I suppose it doesn't matter."
He steps inside and shuts the door, giving Opel and Amber a distasteful look. He turns back to Ryo. "My efforts with the Dustscale tribe didn't go well, but I think they're at least holding off on the riots for now. Nobody down there is happy about the inversion, I can tell you that. The duergars blame the Agarthian dwarves. The drow blame the Agarthian elves. And the svirfneblin seem to think all the Agarthians just mucked something up.
"It's just a good thing nobody knows we've got a bunch of..."
His eyes dart from side to side. He steps away from the door, voice lowering to a hiss. "...dragons."
*DRAMATIC CHORD*
Damiani |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
"Yes, well, about that... You see, in your absence, the dragons kind of revealed themselves to the student body as dragons during a special Hunt. I suspect word has traveled fast and far since then."
Some where in the proverbial multiverse, Toby, the six fingered kitty, leaps out of the grocery bag which it'd been lurking in just moments prior.
David.De'Foul |
"Still. You should let me make you some real ones. It's just a pride thing. The clothes make the man and all that. Plus with people who true see you still wear the same thing. Which is weird regardless of how you clean it. Do you, like, bathe, or do you need to?"
Mine are frozen. And weren't a minute ago. :P
sorry it took so long, equipment failure + busy"thanks for the offer but it isn't necessary,I do have other clothes, heck the school even provides us with a uniform, in any case whatever clothes I chose this robe must be part of what I wear,"
heh fair enough, when you said frozen waffles I was thinking toaster waffles
Rena, the Companion |
Glancing over at Bradley, then back up at Asha, Tryjo'Sam says with a light shrug, "I've no idea. I'd assume being a bird creature, that's sort of like walking, right? Rena could go catch her too, or if she heads for me, I can stop her too... Depending."
With that, he yells up for Asha, "Asha! Hey Sunshine! I brought lunch-- come get some!" He waits to see if she heard him, then prepares some more of the meal he'd brought.
"You two getting along well? Hope I wasn't interrupting or nothing." He grins as he asks.
Rena had grinned at Tryko'Sam's initial arrival, taking in the wonderful scent of the food he had brought, before the conversation mentioned Asha. For a brief horrible moment when Rena glances into the sky, she doesn't spot her yellow-feathered friend, and her heart sinks, Rena imagining that her friend had somehow been stolen away while she wasn't watching - she had people looking for her after all. As Tryko calls up to her, she lets go of Bradley and waves.
Beaming at Tryko'Sam, Rena puts her hands behind her back and pushes her chest out - probably not being intentionally sexy, but damn. "Not at all. I was just telling Bradley how I should show him my true form one day."
Tybalt Baneko |
"But the uniform is so boring. I haven't worn one since I got here. Cmon. I could make something cool."
He finishes his last waffle and sets the plate down.
Tybalt Baneko |
"It's important to me. I want you to have nice things. And this kinda reminds me. I had an idea for our band uniform and stuff. We need to talk to Dom. Also, we're a band, but we haven't had a real practice yet... we should probably, yknow practice. At least decide on a theme. Or at the very least, get a name."
He watches as Dave eats.
Tryko'Sam |
Nodding a few times at Rena while discretely looking her chest over, Tryko'Sam then peers up and looks for Asha again.
After a moment of seeing her flying about, he goes to gather up some food and sets about to eat.
Since his mouth is stuffed, he mostly remains quiet, glancing between Bradley, Rena and the back up to Asha.
At one point he adds, "She is pretty damn impressive either shape. The hands and human form are a bit easier on the eyes though."
