The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Hey Lynn, what info were you looking for?
No, I'm trying to let Dave get info. Like maybe a vague clue as to what he'd be teleporting into. :P
how would he get such info?

By paying attention to what's going on where he is?

I mean, at this point they don't even know yet if the demon jumped from Tryko'Sam to the suit or if there are two demons.

Should've mentioned this earlier, but I did think about that, and the school would have a better plan than "no teleports."

The specific wards it set up are "no teleports out and no teleports in from outside of the school. Teleports in from within the school by registered staff and students only."

Let's not. Changing the parameters only complicates the situation further. Letting the teacher in I can potentially see, but with no teleport out it's pretty dicey.

And that's all the posts I have awake for. I will be posting infrequently the next few days due to being on vacation. But I will try to keep up a little bit. :)

Slightly confused, Dami. I thought we had resolved that Kevin had his labcoat?

I know it's been a while, but I was under the impression that he's had it the whole time.

Works for me! Wasn't sure if Tryko'Sam was nude again or not.

Will go with naked homid, that's fine.

Uh the point of the last Dave post is that he would (try to) stop you from letting him out yet...

Thanks for clarifying it!

Rather than have two other people retcon atop your retcon, let's keep going? Sound fair?

Tryko'Sam is a Garou that was born a human ??

Has he undergone the Change yet?

Doh, misspelled hominid and/or meant humanoid. Silly phone writing!

But, yah, not that. Nice reference, brings back memories.

Ok, being perfectly honest, I don't really know what's going on right now in this scene.

Is Dave going or staying, and did he cast the spell or not? Is Vare teleporting or staying in the room? I'm not asking for future actions to cheat or whatever. I just want to understand what's going on, so I can act accordingly. I can't do anything if I can't even picture who's even in the room or what they are doing. :)

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

Ignore the first post, I missed your post somehow when I had posted that

Sorry

Dave's staying for now and trying to convince you not to let out the one who was possessed by demons, at least until such a time as either A) we can confirm that there are no other demons in him, or B) the giant robot demon is dealt with

Dave probably heard Jeran say to get him fixed so we had more people to help take the mech down.

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

Even so it'd probably be better to make sure we aren't unleashing a demon army, have Vare do his thing through the pod if he can

Though Dave doesn't really see how much help he'd be, the only thing Dave has seen that he can do that'd be useful here is that he makes for a substantially above average meat shield

While I realize yer going to do whatever you want, you do have to realize that three to four other PCs have acted before your post(s).

That's why I suggested no more retcon and your last one be a verbal thing, as things have unfolded.

Rena,
Kevin,
Dave

and Tryko'Sam are in that room -- so, who's doing what? Pod partially opening up, and then opened by Kevin's actions.

I'd go from there, frankly.

So the wifi was worse than my cell signal and that was saying something. So no posting while we were on vacation, as if I had the energy anyways after the kidlet dragged me around the water park. :)
And then this weekend we gamed and my paladin met a heroic end. Which meant that I needed to build a tenth level replacement character. ....so time consuming. >.<
It definitely made me miss how much I just fudge stats here. :D
So now that's done and I will be back to posting tomorrow. As far as sorting out the chaotic scene with Sam and assorted others, Dave assume that you tried to convince the others but were ignored. Vare was foiled on his first attempt to teleport, but should be able to get in on a second try. (Gotta give the school time to adapt.) Hope that helps.

Welcome back.

Glad to hear you had fun and a Paladin met with a heroic end. Good stuff.

As for replacement person-- c'est la vie RPG!

Thanks for supporting the suggestion for that Tryko'Sam scene. Guessing people were just busy with life, et al, of late.

Kinda common place, death of heroes and all.

Hey! Can you give me some more details of what Rena's wearing in that current scene?

Memory failure on her outfit.

Cheers. :)

He did, yes. It happened. He took the big bad demon that was way too high a CR for us to be fighting out with him, but yeah, it took him out too. It was a very fitting way for a paladin to go. :)

Mind you his sister is now even more traumatized than she was before. Always fun when one of the party members has developed PTSD....

So, my fiancee gets super excited about playing D&D, but she often forgets the nitty-gritty details in her excitement to play. In our current game, she's playing a brawler whose personality is somewhat based on Kamina of Gurren Lagann, though considerably more of a womanizer. Regularly hitting on every female the group encounters, even antagonists bent on killing him. Anyway, 4 session into the game she has yet to use either her flurry or her ability to gain feats, so while we were discussing the game, I mention to her not to forget to use her class abilities in combat.

Her: "Oh yeah, but there doesn't seem like there's that many good feats at this level."

Me: "Well, there's always things like Stunning Fist."

Her: "Stunning Fist?! Oh man, that's like the chloroform of feats!"

Me: "..."

The Multiverse

In that instant of finishing digestion of the line above, there is a shudder and shake as the infinite planes of existence spawn yet another divergence of the future. Key, the word 'rags'.

In one path, laugher and a chuckle, as the imagination of one viewer leans towards the classic black and white shenanigans of Charlie Chaplin-like villains, dousing rags with knockout chemicals to induce instant sleep on hapless victims.

In one path, a pause, face going a touch pale and then the running over to the nearest (hoping to reach sink or similar) and heave-ho-ing as stomach upturns and squishes out what was consumed for lunch. One can only imagine what was interpreted there.

...zing!

I won't deny the busy part. Especially yesterday. So much drama. (Kidlet had a school project due today....cue the inevitable last minute scrambling.) But my lack of posting the past couple of days has more to do with my ever-ongoing battle with depression than it does with busy. Basically when we went on vacation I forgot to pack my antidepressants, and four days without them had some lasting consequences. But I've been taking them again since we got back, and the oppressive fog of apathy is starting to lift a bit. It will probably be another couple of days before I am totally back to 'normal' (relatively speaking), but I'm definitely improving.

And I also forgot to calculate and add in the 'exploding dice' for Fei's kinetic damage on each of his hits as well, but I ran out of time and had to walk away from my computer. That fail is on me - I should've waited until I had a couple of hours to build that post properly, so it has to stand as written.

No worries - we get to move on to the next round of the dance now, neh ;)

I won't cheapen your experience by trying to say I've felt real depression before. I've had bad days, but everyone has bad days. I can't say I understand what you experience from a personal level, but I have had friends that have. And I understand how difficult it is any how much it can perpetuate itself, because I've done my best to help my friends when they need me to. So, I can't say that I can sympathize, but at least I can empathize, and offer prayers and a helping hand if there's anything you'd like or need me to help out with.

Just remember that as bad as those days can get, you have a whole community cheering you when you need us. :)

The best description I have for how depression affects me is one I used when Ephebe was captured and in that nasty pit that was eating her up. (I'm a writer, no experience is ever wasted on me. ;P) It's like being stuck in anesthetizing grey goo and covered with nasty leech things that suck away all of your emotions, but you don't actually care because you're too numb.

The biggest misconception I deal with is that depression means feeling sad. Feeling sad would be such an improvement. And the other problem is that when I'm in the middle of it, the apathy is so crushing that I can't even really communicate to tell people what's wrong. I can only explain once I start feeling better. What the meds do for me is restore a normal range of emotions rather than make me feel happy. I just have to not miss doses. :)

Anyways, I honestly hope you never have to experience real depression. It sucks. I've had problems with chronic depression since I was 18. I've been on antidepressants on and off for about fifteen years now. I've never been able to stay off them for more than a year and a half. Usually less than that. *shrug* I don't know if I will ever be able to be 'cured' , but probably not. There's no connection between events in my life and when it gets bad. About half the time it gets bad when I'm happy and actually have my shit together for a change. It really is just a chemical imbalance. But every person with depression is different and my experiences with depression may not be the same as someone else's. All I can do is explain what it's like for me. And I figured I might as well explain now while I'm coherent and stuff. :)

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

Best description of depression was given to me by a friend of mine:
"My give-a-shit is in the shop." A massive understatement, but she always conveyed that it was apathy, not sadness, that wrecked her day-to-day.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I was going to apologize for not posting yesterday, but really it was the site's fault. :P
The only two times yesterday that I had free time paizo was down.
But I have plenty of free time today...because my knee is hurt. :(
It popped out last night, and then popped back as per usual, but got stuck in the wrong position. For like two hours before I could get it popped back to the right spot. So my ligaments are sore and swollen and screaming at me today. I'm used to the popping joints (fun with hormonal imbalances! Yes, that can cause overly loose joints.) but I hate it when they pop wrong. :(
Yes, folks, this is what a 3 Con look like. ;P
