Ryuzo showed everyone he knew was a champion at Avalon (at that time) how to hide your aura. It involves intent to do so, and not using any of your champion abilities.
I believe Fei was among them.
And since I forgot to call this out explicitly....I do (dimly) recall that scene with Ryuzo too, so I think that answers my question for this particular scenario. His teleport would tip his hand as a Champion to Vai.
Ready for things to get uncivilized when you are, Fireclaw. ;P

So, as kind of a survey:
What do people envision the interior of Avalon as? I kind of imagine it as a mansion from the Victorian era, with a few high-tech touches thrown in, as well as stylized wooden lockers lining the halls. What do you see Avalon as?

It's stone. That's why Aananda can go through the walls during an emergency. Lockers were tried and have since disappeared due to the movable nature of the school making them pretty bloody useless. :)
Stone color is optional and subject to change by day and location.
Also, sorry for my continued absence. Life has been interfering. Still up to my ears in cleaning and then my cat got sick yesterday so I spent a day trying to figure out what was wrong. Of course just before I called the vet this morning she decided that she was all better. Glad she's feeling better, frustrated about losing the time yesterday. :/

So today they'd just be having a regular day at Mentor school? Or are they meeting the Dean or someone today?
The Dalesman |
And because a Dalesman fighting allergies is a warped and dangerous thing....I now inflict the Team HotGuys Battle Anthem upon you all.
Tremble and despair, people ;)
[EDIT] Figured posting that would draw Fireclaw out, lol (^-^)
[EDIT PART DEUX] - probably my only post until tonight, looks like the workday just went to poodoo. (o_O)

To be honest, I always imagined it very similar to Hogwarts: stone walls and floors, with sometimes impressive masonry work. Especially since the amethysts like to earth glide through the floors/walls all the time.

I want you to make it. :P
I already did Tyb's full of personal symbology and Lim-Mor's as his mental state.
And thank you. I recently downloaded My OCD by Rhett and Link, and I figured it would be cool to have a character with actual OCD. Kev fit the bill.
He's kind of like Avalon's equivalent of a bug catcher nerd. With a little chemistry thrown in.
I'm really happy with how Kev is shaping up. *pun actually unintended*

Just doing a quick character check:
Ardiente: With Raelle, posted
Ehos: Escorting Alys from the encounter with Nala&Ryuzo. Any more interaction wanted here Lurch?
Illithia: Being a sexy devil
Lily: Just leaving infirmary
Midori: With Lang, Grim, and Sara
Rena: With Vare, wondering what oh what to do!
Repp: With Keme, going to tell the Kitchens that Aananda needs her food delivered
Tyrrin: Waiting on Ace?
Vare: Talking with Kevin, needs a post
Darth Vai: ROUND 1, FIGHT!
That should be everyone. Did I miss anyone/anything?
FireclawDrake |
While I am pretty exasperated by Lily's attitudes, FCD you are doing a magnificent job with her.
I'm really glad to hear this, seeing as how Lily is easily the character I struggle most with while writing. She's so the opposite of how and what I usually write, and I was worried I wasn't exactly nailing it.
So, thanks. :D

Curses, sorry I forgot Dalesman, but can you also list any extra senses Fei has up at the moment? Given his reaction when he arrived in the lab, I'm pretty sure he has Blindsense/sight of some sort, but what's the range?

Yep. Fei has 60 ft. darkvision naturally, which has no bearing on the encounter as it stands now.
Since he's tapped into the surveillance network of the facility (and I'm safely assuming Ezzi has top of the line stuff due to paranoia) he can detect what it detects right now (as long as their are sensors to pull data from). This is why I dropped that comment when he teleported in about the heat and motion sensors telling him somebody was in the lab with him. :)
If we need a hard game mechanics equivalent it would probably be something like blindsense/sight, aye.

You could also consider, not specific to the motion detection ability (blindsight, imho), that Fei's utilizing some technological 'scry' which enables infra-red vision, 360 degree sight, but it requires partial attention /elsewhere/. I.e. the scrying portion.
Then you'd be able to utilize the rules for detection of that, ala cameras being the 'points', since it's not a true floating in the air magical 3rd eye ball of ...uh... magic.
Basically he's got sight beyond sight, or sight at range, limited by the technological devices... and stuff.
Two bits. Lots of options.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |
Being a tried-and-true nerd of the 80s, I applaud any mention of 'sight beyond sight'.
But, as usual, I digress ;D
(And yes, I liked the new version of the series too)

Thundercats, hooooo!
I like the new version of Snarf better, to be honest. He isn't nearly as annoying now.
They do Panthro well-they really convey the "badass" with him.
Only thing I don't really like is the tension between Lion-O and Tigra. They turn Tigra into more of "action hero" than "scientist," in my opinion, and I like plenty of smart people on the Thundercats team.
The Dalesman |
Good point on Tygra, that. The new crew was a bit more thuggish.
My biggest peeve about the new series, by far - no Bengali. I hate that they canned the series before they could bring him in.
Digression - The Sequel

Quick post while I'm in class:
The problem with infra-red vision is that invisibility magic would still work against it: infra-red is simply a different wavelength of light. Infra-red is just what we typically radiate as black-body radiation due to our temperature (this is why, for example, when things get hot enough they glow red, because their black-body radiation has slipped into the red end of the visible spectrum).
I'm not saying that sufficient tech couldn't detect the heat radiating off someone, but that infrared isn't a viable counter to invisibility!

Yer applying real world physics to magic.
Magic makes your visual reflection or display disappear. It doesn't speak of infra-reds or UV, or spectrums of the EMW.
Besides visible light (which we humans perceive) doesn't include the IR band/range. Magic blocks/obscures visible light, not ALL light.
Ergo, if someone can 'see' the heat of someone, you'd need magic to mask the 'heat', like obscuring the 'fire', not a specific wavelength.
:P
More of a cross genre issue, imho-- not really a 'factual' conversation.

Monkeygod wrote:Anybody heard from Lyn lately?Kidlet + Spring Break? + assumption = No.
Replace assumption with surprise family visits, karate belt promotion, and massive house cleaning effort (I literally crammed my CRV full of crap to take to the Salvation Army, all of which I had to carry down from a second floor walk up. By myself since husband was out of town for work this week. And that's not even taking into account all the bags of trash and recycling I hauled down to the dumpsters.) and that equation is entirely correct. By the end of the days I was too tired to even read, let alone type. Apologies if I worried anyone. I should be able to set aside some time for updating game on Monday since kidlet will be back to school.
