The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Sigh, no one got the David Bowie reference.

In everything I've ever heard, (and that's quite a bit as we had whole semesters of Greek Myths in my crazy school) the Labrynth was just a massive structure either under their city or on a separate island. I don't remember anything about a tower, nor do I think they had the architectural technology to make anything more than three or so stories tall.

Ummm... may I direct you to the Parthenon or the Colossus of Rhodes

Both of which were made by the Greeks....

The Percy Jackson mythos was not my source material for that, it just happened to share a common trait in this one story
I have also heard a version where there was no tower
P.S. In the Percy Jackson one, it eventually became alive and expanded, but not for quite some time after Deadlus escaped.

One is a large statue and one is a very large single room.
Neither are multiple floors of a building on top of each other.
I don't doubt that they had amazing technology for their time, it's just that a building with multiple above ground floors requires more than what they had.
Height is not the issue. The issue is layers of flooring in that height.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Y'all are conflating Greek and Minoan architecture. Not the same thing.
Anyhoo, in the version I read the labyrinth was below Minos's palace and Daedalus was being held prisoner in the palace.
Also Rick Riordan clearly did a lot of mythology research for those books and by and large if that's where you get your mythology info it won't be too far off the mark. I was always totally geeked out when I found yet another obscure reference. :)

Well I did. And for reference if I ever get stuck in a magical labyrinth I'd much prefer to find a goblin city at the center than a Minotaur. :P

I know right! I love how accurate everything is while still having the twist of fun new stuff.
<--Culture Nerd. XD

It's really weird that this came up, because yesterday in school my friends and I made CHB personas based on a quiz we all took. I got Athena, which did not surprise me.
My weapon is a bunch of multicolored Pens that are thrown like darts and contain various poisons. Not to mention that the Athenian has to be the strategist. XD ^_^

This conversation is now about David Bowie!

One of my favorite movies.

Akwardly.

I did! but I just saw it.

If ever I had a man-crush...it would be David Bowie.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

I too got the reference as well as just seeing it.

Hey Tybs, whenever I hear somebody say they are a Greek Myth nerd/genius/etc, I always ask them if they've ever heard of Nyx?. I know you could google/wiki the answer, but I am going to trust you to not.

Riviarti doesn't know, and tural's akwarding about.

No-one's giving an answer like that.

Not all social situations are stright-forward.

DB3, sent you a PM about Mentor...

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

nyx:
Mother of Hypnos?
I vaguely remember them being connected

I recognize the name.
Nyx...
Person. Male. Not a main hero, but still a character in a legend. I don't believe he's a god, but also not just any human.
That's what comes to mind.

Now that I take my guess I'm going to assume the answer is place named after a female god... -_-

Nyx is a letter away from the root word for Dark.
The letters yx are also in in the river in the underworld, so maybe not far off.
There's a female Fey called a Nyxie, but that'd be too straight forward.

Spoiler:
Close guys,

Nyx is the mother of Thanatos and Hypnos. She is the goddess of night and darkness... Can't recall much else at the moment.

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

In that case I was right, but the thing I was right about was all I cod remember so it isn't much

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I am disappointed in you guys. I thought you read the Percy Jackson books. Nyx makes an appearance in House of Hades. :)

Grushdeva du kalt misht

Sorry bout that Lyn, I only got to book 2 in the second series... Thats book 4 I think

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

I haven't read any of the second series yet

I've only been through book one of the second series. T-T

Nyx is the bringer of the end times in Persona 3!

Also Nyx is a super carrier class ship in EVE Online!

What's my prize MG?

Treisdan would like to bump into another group, who is available and wouldn't mind a run in with a magus in a good mood?

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

Almost all of my charecters are available, and most of them are just as akward as tural.

Male Gian&Nero Half-Fiend Half-Celestial All Elf 3 cleric 3 wizard 10 mystic theurge / 8 fighter 8 gunslinger

I still have Lim-Môr, but I'm still not entirely sure how much I want to keep him in play.
I don't like him as much as I thought I would.

I do picture Nero having known Triesdan.

If you wanted, Anahita is spacing out undisturbed in the Cafeteria.

No ones noticed in over a month or more real time.

Happy V-Day for those that seek amore.

Sorry, Nero can't have known... He is a fiend/demon or devil... not a vestige, sorry

I meant as a student...
Nero has never lived on a plane other than this one.
And according to him, he's not going to get to "while I'm still glued to these idiots."

I haven't ankoladged roel's existence in a while.
Might put him somewhere.

I had intended for her to be able to notice Rakki.

That's fine, Do you want to bump into Treisdan whilst he wanders through the halls?

I believe you have posts, sir.

That is, of course, if you aren't just posting in the fleeting moments when you come up for air from your dearest lady love this Saint Valentine's Day.
;)

Death_Keeper wrote:

They haven't met, right? I don't recall, a year does go fast yet slow.

Come wake/notice her in the Cafe, If you please, or I'll have to move her first and sadly she's not really walking much these days. Heh.

@Rakki: once they meet, happy to interact. She's a sweetly, promise.

Death_Keeper wrote:

I'll leave that up to you.

Would you expect that to be a conversation you'd find interesting?

Sorry Dami, I was talking about Lim-Mor I was hoping you could drop the intro... I'll be looking for my staff... I think it was left behind when they saved my life

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Hasn't Arthur and Raelle already met, and like more? Were they not involved in the Sun evacuation, and the events that led to Mel getting all burned up? Or am I seriously misremembering things?

Also,

Nyx is the Greek personification of Night. Her children are many, including Hypnos(Sleep), Thanatos(Death), Morpheous(Dream), Nemesis(Retribution), and Eris(Discord).

Grushdeva du kalt misht

I only got 2 of the 5... I need to brush up on my myths

M'kay.

I recognize all of her kids. Does that count? XD

Dark Archive

Male Human (half forged) 11 invincable iron man/11 generator

Yes but, 1) he's rather distracted and 2) there are a lot of people in the world, some people share the same name
Once he sees her he'll be like, "oh that raelle, cool, yeah you'll definitely be a help here"

Can someone who's better with math help me out?

Studies show that for a human to run on water, they'd need to move 20-30 meters per second.

What movement speed would that require?

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

44.47 miles per hour = 20 meters per second...

So... Florence can do that, actually.

Grushdeva du kalt misht

120-180 foot move speed I think....
