This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

if Dave had a movie collection, hidden between action movies and war doccumentairis would be soap operas and other romance movies, I don't watch those, but harem animas are basically the same thing for a different demography

Good to know...

Birthday going well so far. Took the kidlet to brunch (snow day here) and thankfully snow was fluffy and light so it didn't take too much work to shovel the snowdrift away from the back of the car so I could get out. :)
Now I am enjoying some tea. Got out the fine china and am using my new TARDIS teapot which is awesome.
Also got Amazon gift card (Yay, books!), itunes card (Yay, music!), and some jewelry (Yay, shinies! :P) My family really decided to spoil me this year. :D

I love to sleep, but I also love to do stuff while awake, lol. I hate having nothing to do, I get bored so easily.

Lyn, you haz a PM from me.

Also, dumb question(perhaps), but is there another entrance out of the room Lily and Serrin are in? Right now, there's wall of shadow in front of the one door, so I don't know if there's a second one Lil can flee out of, or if she's gonna just be cowering in the corner.

May I try to spark a discussion? I enjoy a good discussion and hopefully this will not evolve into a flame war of sorts...

I have been thinking about Logical Weaknesses, such as Super Senses being bad if there is a sudden shift in the level of light or sound (Like in Alphas, the TV show), and also Pyromancers being weak (or useless in the rain), Spellcasters having issues casting magic underwater (or in Lava) because of inhibited movement and difficulty speaking.

also would it be possible to trap a champion in a place where their Patron had no power, Such as trapping Vai in a room where there has never been light (Just an example, and/or Idea for capturing the evil bimbo, Not the good one, no, no, never..;]....) or trapping Ephebe in a permanent time stop (because there is no time in that place anymore, just the same time, over and over forever....) Would any of that work, or am I just blowing smoke?

This assumes they can't leave with their own power.

Perhaps a monastery, or some form of dungeon where your pride is stripped from you....

Also Icehawk333, That's the point, if they can leave under their own power its not much of a trap...

;)

That seems logical ish. The only problem is that you're looking at it backwards.
The point is that these are the only places the can't go themselves.
They could still leave to go anywhere else from these places.

Assuming that it is decided this is possible, it probably still couldn't be done.
As far as light goes, it's a 0th level spell to make your own, and light probably has at least one thing that can make more.
With Time, it's literally impossible to not have time. A place can never be outside of time, just in a different strip of it. Time is more of a relative idea we use to quantify things. If something exists at all there is time to it.

Also assuming this is possible, this is when it's good to be an Ideals champion. If even just that champion is there, their concept is. They can go pretty much anywhere there's a creature with intelligence more than -.

Shadow Lodge

Interesting discussion. Pride could be trapped by an endless series of challenges that, while difficult, are not impossible. And of course there would be competition.

Well I'm just saying it as a way to pass the time, I'm not exactly sure what you mean about "looking at it backwards" but these are places they can go... if they are tricked or teleported to the place, but they can't use their champion powers to escape from...

I meant the fact that Time is only really present if it passes... if it is 'borrowed time' such as in Death's realm where time is not allowed to pass (by canon) or Vai being trapped in a place where the shadow plane touches the material plane...

I'm just saying that maybe there are drawbacks (or at least flaws) in the champion powers.... Such as Yrrin whose power comes from Justice, could find it difficult in a place where people are all liars and cheats that haven't been caught or punished (like Pittsburg ;] )

pride being caught in an endless maze of puzzles is an amusing idea... Tell him to find the real him in a room full of millions of reflections...

DB3, why would a competition trap pride if anything pride would result from
The competition
DK: the monastery wouldn't work, because even if they weren't proud of their humility/other virtues, by bringing the champion of pride to that place you have brought pride there
The dungeon has merit though.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

If you were to build a prison with a permanent Darkness effect, combined with a anti-magic field and a dimensional anchor, you have effectively created a place without light.

Strip the prisoner of any and all gear, so they can't even make a fire, and you've pretty much eliminated all means to possibly create light.

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

You'd need for then darkness, as that only drops it 2 light levels.

(Assuming deeper darkness)

You can't say that by bringing Vai to the Realm of Shadow that light is now there... they wouldn't have the power... The way that I think of it is like the story of a god with only one believer... he existed but he lacked the power to really affect anything to any significant degree... or at least that is how I think of it.... or maybe I'm wrong, and merely striking two rocks together in the bottom of a mineshaft will let Vai teleport and escape...

Dave might be able to swim in lava but maybe when he comes out he gets a lovely stony shell and has to have someone break him out... xD because he has the strength doesn't mean he has the leverage to actually escape...

This isn't exactly just against the champions, Its also with the mages and the fighters.... mostly just playing around with the thought of logical weaknesses to make the game interesting....

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

His ability to shapeshift his arm into a sword would give him the leverage, and even without that he could light himself on fire and keep the lava liquid to let it roll off of him

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

Not to mention, there's someone who can run ~80 MPH without tiring as an EX ability.

I don't think applying such physics matters to people with such absurd STR and other stats.

These are the people who can fire a crossbow 4 times in six seconds, and these are the people who can jump 10-20 feet in the air.

The realm of shadow does not prevent light, by the way.

It resists it. With a caster level check, you can summon light. With shadow conjuration, if you like.

With a torch, you don't have to make a check at all.

All light has half range.

Exactly. How can the Champion of Pride give up and let someone else win when it's possible to beat them? How can he give up the chance to beat the endless?

David and Ice, Maybe calling you out was a mistake, I don't want you guys to think I'm against you, I'm just trying to make discussion...

There was an example of this with the Wearer of Masks... He teleported through the Shadow Plane, and was trapped in a room where he could not reach a shadow, so maybe for gameplay purposes its not that cut and dry... However, for story purposes its interesting... Treisdan had his head overloaded from reading 40+ peoples minds at once....

I just wanted to bring it up and discuss it... from a player perspective...

If this wasn't just a thought exercise, the backwards part:
You're saying that they can't get out of these places because their ideal doesn't exist there to power their... powers...
But, that's the opposite of what happens.
The Patrons are mostly omnipresent(I assume). The reason that Champions can't get to these "blindspots" is because their Patron doesn't exist in these places. That doesn't meant the champion is cut off from them. The champion can always return to the places that their Patrons exist in. They can go anywhere it exists and subsequently anywhere within that.
Just because the patron can't take the champion to a place doesn't mean that if the champion gets there, they can't return to their patron.

Well... I guess, but isn't it like a bridge or portal, connecting one place where the Patron has influence to another place where the patron has influence? Like... I don't know how they would be able to jump... from a place without their patron to their patron without the patron's influence?

..... I guess I always thought of it like some sort of... I don't know how to describe it other than.... like teleporting into an antimagic field... Would you get fully to your destination? or would you simply stop at the edge? Half of you gets in and half out? what if only your top half was outside of the field and then what? Its just how whoever interprets it as how it would happen decides... there isn't exactly a "right" answer.... is there?

Shadow Lodge

In essence, DK is saying they get cut off from their powers without their Patron's influence.

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

If you've got a low-level champion, use some blightburn.

Sick stuff.

Non-magical anti-teleportation.

I think it's that you're thinking patron is to champion as land line is to rotary phone and I'm thinking that patron is to champion as Cell tower is to cellphone.

My main idea in thinking this is that there's really no point in the Champions if they couldn't use their powers in a place that doesn't have their concept because the idea behind the Champions is to bring their concept to the places that don't have it and to amplify it on the places that do.

I'm working on an idea...but it will probably only work once, and I have a very specific target in mind.

Grushdeva du kalt misht

Well I'm not stopping the conversation...

Think of it this way, the ways that people react to drawbacks and difficulties helps to define them, or at least I think so...

(Ergo the reason people hate MarySues)

I mean... if a person gets lost in the woods with very minimal survival skills and they lost their spellbook... well that would help them become more defined don't you think?
