The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

I run Deception...should I be included?

Female [Classified] Bard 16 / [classified] 16

I run... around maybe I should too.

wait, that came out wrong.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Potentially. Not sure yet what topics need to be discussed. I'll copy you and DB3 if need be, but if it's just about Light, Hope, and Courage no need to have everyone involved.

Just saying you might not understand stuff right off the bat. It assumes show knowledge.

Anyway, it's in seven parts so far:
#1 Tears in the Snow
#2 The Risks of Braving a Storm
#3 Unplanned Parenthood
#4 Under the Starry Skies
#5 Song of Whispers
#6 Cutie Mark Catastrophes
#7 The Cheval Glass

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I pick up random bits of useless knowledge like a sponge and know too many bronies... I know almost as much about the show as people who watch it. >.<

I know that feel, Lyn.

As far as username goes, this isn't the one I use for virtually everything else.
That one is a word I came up with when I was ≈3. I named my dog that too.
This one is because I'm really into stage magicians and I wanted a name without numbers.
Plus the bunny fits it.

we named the dog Indiana

Male Drow (noble) 14 Ranger

Just keep in mind to let me know what she/he/it would know ;)

Where's the fun in that?

I have a feeling you know where the fun is in that, deception.

I'm gonna actually wait here for others to post as well Icehawk, because I think both DB3 and Dalesman are going to be involved in this scene... and possibly Lyn as well.

Yes?

So Tamrin was basically right outside the room getting ready to go in and talk to Vai when she teleported away, yes? Waiting for confirmation of this before I post Aanada's reaction.

Also, this fanfic is unintentionally nostalgic. My friends were really into MLP when I was in third grade so all the familiar names are a little weird to me. Bad childhood memories of the horrific movie ( you know, the one where the ponies get turned into dragons...and I then got woken up by little sisters waking up screaming in the middle of the night for a couple of weeks...ugh...so many nightmares and parents slept on anoth floor so it was my problem...I rather preferred the ponies as dragons...) are a lot of why I don't even bother to watch the new series. Well, that and when I did give it a chance I wanted to hit my head against the wall before the episode ended...not my cup of tea.

No. Tamrin went in and talked to Vai at the same time Aananda went to talk to Fei, so that conversation already happened 'off-camera'.

For the sake of expedience, he already left the Infirmary and went elsewhere to figure out another solution to Vai's problem when this stuff happened.

Heh, I totally get why watching the show would be frustrating, but to me, it's like a Disney movie. The characters are needlessly dense, the big baddies always get Deus Ex'd away, but at the same time I can't help it. It's like liquid joy into my brain.

Re: The fic... Honestly it actually reminds me a lot of Avalon at times. Hell... In Song of Whispers... There's a pony who loves to sing who cannot use his voice because it's so destructive.

Yeah, I can really see the Avalon parallels. I've only read the first part so far, and I mostly liked it, at least as long as we stick to the alternate ending. The first ending was....well, the bible verses really spoiled it for me. Totally broke whatever suspension of disbelief I'd managed to build up. Not to mention the whole Marty Stu aspect.

And thanks for the distraction. I keep pushing myself too far and having to lay down and rest...I am a terrible patient. It's provided hours of distraction from pain so far. And a distraction from how sick I am of wearing yoga pants...blech. Normally I have strict rules about not wearing sweats outside the house. It's not the best for my mental health. But as I discovered the hard way yesterday, even comfy jeans are still too constricting. Not exactly enjoying feeling like a slob. :(

Oh, and before I forget again, I approve of all of the ACG classes except Arcanist. Stacking the same type of magic with the same type of magic accessed in a different way while trying to make it a distinct class ended up with something that is made of pure spray cheese, IMO, and it would really be a hassle to deal with in gameplay.

I need to rebuild Kitty as Hunter now instead of Druid...planning on having her retrain ninja levels too, but haven't entirely decided for what yet....

And avast ye scurvy dogs, have a happy talk like a pirate day or I'll make ye walk the plank! ;)

(Although I don't really talk like that. And technically I'm not a pirate...I'm a privateer. There's a difference. I have a piece of paper from the government that says I'm legally allowed to rob you blind. ;P)

I would change out Casseus' brutal pugilist barb stuff for brawler, but him raging and accidentaly growing his horns back gives me giggles.

Well, you're in luck then. The rest of the series considers the "Alternate Ending" as canon, since the author acknowledged how seriously bad that ending was. I would actually say that "Tears in the Snow" is probably the worst one of all of them, despite the fact that Cerulean is probably my favourite character in the series.

I can give PLENTY more distractions too, once you plow through the rest of that fic. ;)

I am personally of the opinion that the Arcanist is not nearly as powerful as everyone thinks. I mean, maybe in a high level game, but the only thing broken about it, in my opinion, is not the Spellcasting aspect, but some of the Exploits... man. Counterspelling as an immediate action, even if it is a powered-down version of Counterspelling? Dimensional Slide, a 5ft step turned into 10*Arcanist level? Damn.

The Arcanist Exploits aside, the Spellcasting progresses as a Sorcerer (so, 1 level behind), but maxes out a Wizard's spells per day. So the Arcnist loses out on both the raw spells per day of the Sorcerer and the quick learning of the Wizard. To me, that's not worth being able to switch your prepared spells every day (or, with an Exploit, as a Full-round action).

/shrug.

Personally I think the Brawler, the Shaman and the Slayer are far more OP. The Brawler pretty much makes the Monk defunct as a class, and the Slayer almost does the same to the Ranger.

I am very happy with the Warpriest though, since options for a religious frontliner before were very limited - Paladins simply don't cut it (due to alignment restrictions).

Yar!

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

I play casters a lot, and I came up with three ways to abuse the class as written within a minute of having read the full description. Arcanist might work in certain settings, but adjustments need to be made to things to accommodate them that in my opinion decrease the fun.

As for brawler replacing monk, that depends on the style of monk you're playing. It does mean you don't have to play a monk to be an effective pugilist which is good in my opinion. It's frustrating when you want to play a boxer and you end up having to choose to either be a really bad boxer or basically end up playing Jackie Chan. ;P

Slayer I think reads powerful, but would play weak. Shaman...yeah, I'll give you that one. It's on the upper end of the power scale for sure. I wouldn't necessarily want it in a RL game, but I think Avalon can handle it.

Maybe after the reboot, I'll have a shaman/summoner with his shadow as his eidolon. >:)

One of the bloodrager bloodlines is kinda OP.
Destined.
You auto confirm crits you land, and only nat 20's to confirm crits work on you.
I'd probably not allow that one, tbh.

Shadow Lodge

There's a nice, 3rd party feat that let's you counterspell as an immediate action... but it raises the check to do so by 10.

Edit: Spellcraft 15 ranks, Quicken spell.
DC to identify the spell you're trying to counter increases by 10.

*is amused*

I don't find arcanist op, I love the class, then again I am prejustisted twords spontaneous casters
Good for jack o all trades builds
Good for counter spell specialists, (though in a 1-1 fight he'd lose to a sorcerer building along this same line)
I used arcanist for my ryner lute build, he needs immiediate action counter spell,

Shadow Lodge

Not that I can remember him doing that more than once or twice...

Shadow Lodge

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

Who ryner? As in the character from legends of the legondary heroes? That was his thing
He did that all the freaking time
He also had the spell parry* feat, because almost every time he did so it was with a stronger blast of magical energy and the power not used to block their spell was used knocking his opponent to the ground.
*this was autocorrected to spell party which seems extremely funny to me

It's a really good thing that Fei is off-planet at the moment... Else we might not have a planet left.

If he is actually that powerful, what be the point of this? Throw him on a empire planet, blow him up, raise him, repeat.

Well, I can think of a few reasons:

-I don't think Fei (or anyone else for that matter) would consent to the slaughter of billions upon billions of innocents.

-I was being tongue in cheek. ;P

Shadow Lodge

How I imagine Vis. He's on the far right.

That's about it, but with a robe a little too bit for him, and white tips to his hair.

ok the new elementary students we need to retcon or hold until something is resolved.

Kim is still waiting on an answer to the request she made. before we finished filling out the forms.

so she turned in a paper with lots of doodles and hardly anything filled out.

Sorry about this but Kim was NOT ready to move the scene forward and since I was not on line to say this...guess it doesn't really matter.
