The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

i don't think so

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Yea, I have to agree with Foul here.

The whole point of power attack is to sacrifice some accuracy to deal a deadlier blow. However, if there's no chance to miss, that would be a little too strong.

male goo dragon alchemist 16(spellhammer) / synthesist 16

That's what I was thinking.
I need one more feat for Kev.
He doesn't do a lot of attacks to damage, mostly spells, summons and grapples.
If I had another empty slot, I'd see if I could find a familiar equivalent ooze, but I'd have to take improved familiar and I only have one slot. :/

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

It comes down to this:

Power Attack wrote:

You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls.

\

Sadly, Swallow Whole isn't a melee attack, it's a combat maneuver.

This does mean, however, that Power Attack works on things like Inflict Wounds and Shocking Grasp. I like to imagine spellcasters punching people with spells.

Deadly Aim specifies that it does not work on Touch Attacks, but Power Attack doesn't. :)

Good to know. >:)

If I was to take that feat that gives a sorcerer bloodline and therefore a familiar, do you think a cr one Amber Ooze would require Improved Familiar?
I kinda want him to have a little orange jelly he feeds leftovers to. ^_^

Too strong?

...

One of the balancing factors of it is that you lose accuracy for power.
Just taking a feat for an extra .5 damage is a bit too much, ne? ;)

Just have one then. :)

ice could you please share those feats please I am curious on them...

Funny, there is a feat that will allow you to quicken or maximize or empower a spell without increasing it's spell slot...

One feat adds +5d6 to every fireball spell, or allows you to cast it as a swift action, or makes it deal 60 damage, no roll. Or, put it on flame strike, and it gets even worse.

So, power attack. +12 damage at 16th level. Such a problem.

Interestingly, 5d6 fire damage is 15 damage, on average.

It's one feat.

Spell perfection.

I know.

It's useable every time you cast the spell you use the feat on.

Spell perfection
Though, if you want to break it, use it with dazing spell.

Chill a bit with the hostilities, Ice.

Build for fun, remember?

It's just how the rules work is all.

We don't need another martials can't have nice things narrative. :)

-------
I'm just gonna add the familiar. If Lyn wants it changed, I can worry about it then. Amber ooze is a go. Alchemically treated not to smell like booze. XD

Shadow Lodge

And to do all of those things, it's usually on a 6th level or lower spell, barring the fun use if certain traits.

A near-beer ooze? XD

Simple one...

Dazing cone of cold.
Anyone who fails the save can't act for 5 rounds.

Tell them how you broke dancing lights. :D

That's what they're for actually, they look like beer and when you try to drink it, it climbs down into your belly and poisons you over the course of a week. It is trained not to now, but I have some funny ideas for the both of them. :)

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

All I'm saying is, even if power attack caused no negatives to hit, and only worked on actual melee weapons, it would /not/ be overpowered.

Well, either that, or I'm saying spell perfection shouldn't exist. Your choice.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Well, it really doesn't matter anymore. I have a jello-shot familiar now. XD

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Just because you feel something is broken, doesn't make it so.

Again, stop thinking like D&D/PF is an arena. Its not.

Its a party game, wherein the players/PCs need to cooperate with one another to accomplish their goals or the goals of the adventure.

Also Spell Perfection? Its awesome, yes. But its one spell, only. Which is great, but if the bad guys have some protection against that ONE spell, its not so awesome any more, is it?

Yes, it still is. Because you won't have just /one/ spell, either.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

How many, exactly, do you think you'd have? At best, with a human Wizard at 20th level, you get 15 bonus feats. 3 of them have to be other metamagics.

If you sink the other 12 into Spell Perfection, that's great, but your spells won't be nearly as badass as they could be. You haven't taken Focus or Penetration, which makes them easier to resist, and you've only taken three other metas.

Likely, up against high end monsters, your spells, despite how "perfect" they are, will likely not do anything. Because they will either be flat out resisted, or saved against.

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

No, i mean you'll have other spells other then the perfected one.

But skrew it. I'm done.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Its cool. You just proved my point, so thanks.

M Extrodinaraly Contrary Meatbag Fourm pyromancer 1

I in no way proved your point.

I'm just stopping before this becomes a real problem. If you want to keep arguing take it to the argument thread, I'll gladly do it there.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Lyn, sent you a PM regarding my firebird concept. Please get back to me when able :)

Shadow Lodge

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Setting: Sepernt's Skull ap, just discovered a partial(only three walls) shack. The Magus says that we can easily guard three walls.

My Goblin(Gip): "And I'll break the fourth!"
GM: *pretends to throw his cup at me.
Me: "I'm sorry, I had to." *pause* "Gip said to the GM."

Got some good laughs from that.

definitely want to see this movie

this one looks interesting also

Owen?

Torchwood?
Thought you were a Whovian. :P

Sorry was thinking it was some message board lingo...

Its been a while since I watched Torchwood...

alright take away my whovian card then.

BTW you do know he also did Dark Knight rises, Game of Thrones, and Pacific Rim?

Grushdeva du kalt misht

Breaks Edward's fingers, and pries the whovian card from his wallet.

*Sorry I have ta*

XD

I haven't seen any if the dark knights or game of thrones, but I did like him in Pacific Rim. He'll just always be Owen with the labcoat and the buttons to our family. XD

Keep your Who card, you've seen a lot more classic than me. ;)

Stupid lack of Netflix...

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

DK, glad to see you back. :)

Try and at least tell us you're still alive once a week, 'kay? :)

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Took yesterday off and today it's back to the homework grind, but I'll try to check on the game now and then.
Also sent a few PMs to those who had expressed interest in playing a firebird character and hadn't already gotten back to me with a character pitch. The new characters will be coming in Monday morning in-game so I'd like to get through the bulk of character creation before that. And if anyone else is still interested that didn't say anything before, now is your chance to throw your hat in the ring. :)

I'm just waiting for the next part in Kodjack's scene to happen, since it appears there's not much for him and Nanami to do but wait for the headmaster to open the door to his office.

Oh great...

can't wait to see what kind of drama a new firebird is going to bring lang now...

also just shoot me a PM or a post for Kim to come in. (depending on when the whole plague thing is over)

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Lyn, sent a followup.

Shadow Lodge

Let's see... Ignis was the forge firebird, right? Don't wanna step on toes. ;)

male firebird firebender 10// caliver 3/bard 3/battle herold 4

Yeah, that's what i do.

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Hey hey, he does more than just forge, he's like a paragon, uber fire meister!

Shadow Lodge

Just thinking about adding smithing to my Niyambi. I know one side, so a skill I think would be pretty common amount firebirds seems likely.

male firebird firebender 10// caliver 3/bard 3/battle herold 4

I am taking a feat chain that allows me to make items masterwork more then once.

Just taking skill points isn't going to step on my toes, that's for sure.

male firebird firebender 10// caliver 3/bard 3/battle herold 4

Not sure what you intend to do. Really, smithing is the main part of my charecter now.

Shadow Lodge

I'm not sure if it's just going to be skill points or the entire side of his(or her) gestalt though. It's still pretty different from that feat though.

male firebird firebender 10// caliver 3/bard 3/battle herold 4

Eventually I'll be taking master craftsman too, just as another thing.
The other is a 5 4 feat chain, so honestly, there isn't much room for anything else- crafting is all i can dedicate him too.

Shadow Lodge

Same here. Looking at the possibility, I think he/she might just be a general crafter instead of focusing on smithing.
