Yeah, sorry, but I don't think that Tarka following Pyry counts as bullying. It certainly is socially poor behavior and involves a total lack of understanding. Might lead to a fight. But well, let me put it this way. A five year old starts following you around asking awkward questions and won't go away no matter how many times you ask. Assume in this example that you are much older than the five year old. At least in your teens. Is the five year old bullying?

Seriously, I think Tarka needs to carry a sign saying 'I'm just a little kid'. People seem to easily forget how young she is. Also Lang, Midori, and Zilla all used similar behavior towards Ignace and it wasn't taken as bullying then. So this really feels like a double standard to me.

Also, most of my 'NPCs' are really GMPCs. I just make an effort to keep them off of center stage unless during an arc that someone else is GMing. To make sure things stay fair.

It's probobly because of the way she talks.

She knows a lot of larger words and is very smart for her age, (int 18).
however, she's very socially akward, can't read or write, and is 3 years old.

You might want to add some physically descriptive text to her posts to help people remember things like just how small she is. That might cut down on the number of misunderstandings.

(Not including Dark Vai who is an NPC - it just felt right to re-use Vai's old alias for her)

Noted.

I've yet, with the exception of Raelle out with Ardiente, thought Lynora's people were PCs.

Mostly, to add to this post, due to her characters usually pushing "content" versus exploring "content", if that makes sense.

I'll try putting other glasses on going forward.

Well, what this means is that we need more people running arcs that aren't me. So I can spend more time playing these characters as PCs. ^.^

I've got some arcs in the works that you are a part of Lyn, fear not. :)

I think we've been remiss in allowing the younger students to freely have access to the highschool. This would not happen anywhere IRL, and probably for good reason.
The elementary school has it's own facilities...

Is Pyry elementary school or not? I don't really know.

Also, there's no way tarka will be bound by that.
Honestly, good luck keeping tabs on her.

Also, it's actually rather uncommon from what i can tell for the elementary children to be with the high school ones, except in the case do the simrooms,

Dunno what double standard you speak of here, as those scenes, as I explained my impression, were with your GMPCs, or what I feel are mostly NPCs.

I know in my experience GMing, it's very hard not to cross some lines, and even as a (primarily) player here, I constantly fall into the same GM hat wearing game play I'm familiar with. Still, loads of arcs, I just don't see many people biting too hard without giving up easily, or delaying further action due to time moving slowly IC, or trying to present their character's story above anything else.

Didn't we intend to accelerate some time recently too? Not complaining, just asking.

Yes - once monday is over, we'll be skipping ahead to friday night.

Pyry is not elementary, and Tarka may stop going to the High Scool if she get's caught and given detention(quite likely).

Yeah, it's supposed to only be the older elementary kids who have access to the main cafeteria and the SIM room should require appproval....which Hew has because of his previous issues...Might be time to build a second SIM room area in the elementary building with a few more restrictions on it to make it safer for the little kids.

Given that Nala is currently dealing with the infirmary woes, Fi is off campus due to firebird stuff, Ephebe is as always swamped, and Pyra has been helping deal with firebird stuff....well, it's understandable that the rules haven't been properly reinforced of late. But that does need to change. With Sara tagging along with the older kids so often even they might get restricted back to the elementary school side of things. It doesn't seem quite as necessary for them after all. Thoughts?

Holding her in detention will be quite hard too.

If Madness, is in fact mad, then one could say its actually the patron of Luck, since anything working out would be just that, blind luck, no?

Madness does not equal chaos.

So, there you go, now we're down two Patrons, no need for Madness or Luck, just need Chaos. But, is chaos a human 'thing' that has a Patron?

Then again, maybe everything is actually just one Patron with serious multiple personalities- vying with its self in some twisted sadistic orgy, just to give its super powerful and thus, possible bored, existence purpose.

There's a thought.

Chaos doesn't equal madness, either.

Quite simply, madness and chaos don't always, or even usually, go together, despite most assumptions.
Madness is a hard thing to explain...

And by the way- Chaos is a thing owned by madness, but it isn't his core being.

The patrons aren't...
Just...
Ug.

Lynora or Dragonborn,

Just how many other NPC bodies are there, student body wise, in the two parts of the school.

My assumption is that the PCs make up about 10% of the population, or so, right? I'm trying to imagine what a filled assembly of students per age division would number, roughly.

Appreciate either of your two responses as GMs of the school setting.

If it's okay towards a GMPC, but not towards a PC then that's a double standard. A metagaming one at that. It may not always be a bad double standard, but it is one nonetheless. In this case you described the situation with Tarka and Pyry using some very strong and often harsh language (invoking images of school bullying serious enough to result in suicide...something I take very seriously, but that's a whole other discussion) which made Tarka's actions seem extremely serious and alarming. I was disagreeing with your opinion of the situation, in large part due to the age of the PC in question. In human terms she's the equivalent of five. That alters the situation quite a bit. She's not able to have enough awareness of social rules to know that what she's doing is wrong.

The same can't be said of the others not being willing to leave Ignace alone. Now it was done from good intentions, but it's essentially the same actions. But in that case was deemed okay because it was towards a perceived NPC. For example, if Lang's actions had resulted in his serious injury or death, as they could have if he hadn't gone all avatar state, imagine he psychological harm that would have done. Rather than growing as a character, she would have become a total shut-in.
Part of the problem is that when you have a character who is very shy or closed off, like Ignace, or Dara, or Pyry, is that someone has to go and sort of persistently badger them into social interaction. It's actually a pretty common trope. I think this has become another genre issue.

Story arcs do kinda work differently here because the format isn't the standard traveling adventuring party. And there are a couple. But with as big a cast of characters as we have, we could always use more. Though yes, thanks for providing the chance to remind folks that we're planning to do a time skip after Monday in game. :)

Shadow Lodge

Chaos couldn't become a Patron anyway. That's too orderly.

Understood on the double standard, valid points.

In my mind, that read as, treat all characters as characters, not their player or non-player status. Let me know if that wasn't your point and I did not read it properly as presented.

As for the time thing, guess you could say I've felt little progress in game for quite a few real life days/weeks. New school sessions, and real life interference, I'm sure. I do like me the progression.

Cheers.

Ten percent might actually be being a bit generous. It's a big school.

The elementary division is much smaller. It's only just started. They have maybe fifty students at most. And as that number is growing the elementary school is desperately in need of more teachers. Most of whom would be in the background as the PC type students usually get assigned to Ephebe's class.

The high school on the other hand has hundreds of students.

Damiani, have you ever seen the film "Eric the Viking"

in it the hero, gos after being battered a used by the north gods, to Valhalla and meets them, Oden, Thor the lot

They turn out to be children o their omniscient and all powerful just as god should be, but still just kids, why?

one needs only look at the baseness of their actions,

temper tantrums
petty in fighting
Vengeful smiting as the smallest of slights
Zero self control
no accountability
and the intransitive complexity of Disney princess.

From what little I have seen of the "Patrons" I'm getting the very same feeling, Personally if a Patron came to me and said "want to be in our cool gang" I would be "Go away and when you have grown up, come back and we can have an adult talk about it"

Also it make them more complex, fitting their past god level, you cold say.

Have

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly it. :)

As far as the lack of progress, I do apologize. This is partly what happens when so much is depending on me moving things forward. I end up becoming a bit of a bottleneck for plot progress. :(
Case in point, Tryko'Sam went into town. I was going to have him run into a plague victim. Ran out of time. By the time I got back, he'd already returned. I lost the opportunity to move the plot forward because of my limited time. That is definitely my fault and if folks have suggestions for how to get things flowing more quickly again (without losing the chance for folks to interact or react to events) I would be happy to hear them. Seriously, no sarcasm. I'm looking for solutions. I don't want players to feel bored.

I dunno man-- like the Chaos thing, I think you're applying mortal terms to concepts, for our grasp, without realizing the fundamentals of a role playing universe:

"Anything is possible!"

But, yeah, it's still a tree-- a chopped up into firewood sized pieces tree. :D

I think of the patrons like bags of Jello.
They are all big squishy things.
When people exhibit certain traits it adds more to the bag.
They are better when they get bigger.
Some of them look and taste similar but all are different.
A patron picks a champion which is kinda like a mix for jello. It's their job to go and stir up more of their trait for the patron and make the jello bag bigger.
Destruction is like a couple of jello cups instead of a bag.
And Balance's bag got popped and is kinda running everywhere. Not really a thing but is still there in places.

Oh my, Lynora just said your post didn't stand out, FCD, tsk tsk.

From what I can see, Nala /might/ have subconsciously been waiting on Phaereziel's response... yet another person at fault, potentially!

This is turning into a three way ping pong match of sorts about 'who did it'.

NOTE: Firestarter attempt, and humor... or something.

Have
The Patron of Knowledge being in no way smart, like a book, she/eh/it could be full of information but with little or NO understanding.

Madness may not be Mad at all, that view comes from outside, Madness could be a Psychoanalyst to gods who has the power to give and take away madness.

Just thinking out aloud

:)

I cannot recall or say I know the Eric movie, though I've heard of it.

Gods (and similar) in many of the classic tales were merely representations, defined by humanity, of personified aspects of reality-- so this makes sense, especially if you take classic Greek mythos, as your example.

Incest, inbreeding, sexual appetites, all the 'vices' and 'woes' of society, yet, responsible for natural events and 'luck' that was clearly outside of Man's abilities at the time.

I love it, personally. Good times-- but to hear that these folks were the children of earlier deities, that's even richer. :)

Perhaps -- to follow your line of thought, my Chaos guy isn't chaotic as we understand it at all, but sees EVERYTHING in a neat organized manner, thus, we've just removed the need for Knowledge!

Hehehe... I'm pushing for Chaos to be the source of all the Patron's and they are but facets of this august 'essence'. From /where/ did the original Jello originate, after all? Huh?

Chicken or the egg?

I think of the patrons like bags of Jello.

They are all big squishy things.
When people exhibit certain traits it adds more to the bag.
They are better when they get bigger.
Some of them look and taste similar but all are different.
A patron picks a champion which is kinda like a mix for jello. It's their job to go and stir up more of their trait for the patron and make the jello bag bigger.
Destruction is like a couple of jello cups instead of a bag.
And Balance's bag got popped and is kinda running everywhere. Not really a thing but is still there in places.

You could start a Faith with that Tybalt

The Holy Book of Jello

hehe bet they would have great party's.

"Holy Vodka Jello any one?"

:)

Hehehe... I'm...

Have you read, the Amber books by Roger Zelazny, that's what he went with, a big pot of Chaos spat out law. etc.

Nice Idea
