I think we should keep them all, actually. I can't tell you what kind of hell dealing with the Board of Education is like when you've lost a student...
Though, to be fair, he never should have teased Ruji with exploding catnip mice...
They're prematurely gray! With grandchildren like mine is it any wonder? ;P
Ignore that uncouth heel. A true gentleman would never say such a thing about a treasure as truly radiant as yourself. He has absolutely no appreciation of the finer things... (^-^)
And if he keeps wagging his tongue like that, he might catch any manner of horrible wasting sicknesses...
Okay, Nala. Not a lot is known about her for sure, but Ephebe was able to pick up a few things. Nala has some sort of cold subtype, a fact most people don't notice. She's also a talented witch and way too adept with charm and compulsion spells. What not even Ephebe knows is that Nala is also a master of illusions. I.e., she's secretly helping the Hunter, though she isn't actually a Hunter herself.
She's overall an unpleasant person who needs to have a victim in order to affirm her own sense of self-worth, and her attacks against Ephebe have been steadily escalating the more that Ephebe has stood up to her. She always keeps a gang of other students that she considers 'worthy of her attentions' nearby charmed to the gills and ready to do her bidding.
She's done lots of awful things, but she's never actually gotten caught at any of it.

I've already managed to terrify her "associates" that was fun.....though it saddens me that she didn't run away terrified. *sigh* Oh well there is always Mr. Fishy's method. Pats caster at his side.

Kobold Cleaver thought you were supposed to use a stick?
Hm. I was planning on Vakkler giving Nala detention for throwing the slime at Ephebe (specifically, slurk duty with Jiminy). He'd already seen it, but is determined to punish 'the Sunwake brat' by making him work with her. If that makes sense.
However, it occurred to me that removing her from the Snipe Hunt might mess up other plans. Since he hasn't revealed his knowledge yet, I can still change and rule he doesn't have any idea.
So if detention wouldn't suit a plan, let me know now. I don't want to ruin somebody's character development. :P
Putting her in detention with Jiminy would be like adding fire to kerosene. :)
She definitely needs to go in the Snipe Hunt. If he says that he saw her throw it she'll just say that he must have been mistaken. (She actually did get one of her charmed accomplices to do the throwing, though it can be hard to tell since she made the motion as well. Part of how she controls her thralls.)
OK, so I have to take some liberties with Nala's class schedule and I'm not sure if Jiminy will be available to play along so this information is to get us all on the same page and give Vakkler something to use if he wants to push ahead with an after-action "I tracked down that Sunwake brat and learned X"...
Here's the deal:
1. Jiminy dropped standard run-of-the-mill, aged and stinky, slurk slime on Nala. There was nothing alchemically interesting about it.
2. Nala wasn't lying - cryptozoology isn't on her schedule. What IS on her schedule is 'Potions' or 'Alchemy' and possibly something like 'Botany'. Classes where she is in contact with a lot of chemical and natural reagents.
3. Vakkler, as a big game hunter :), knows the history of many slimes and oozes... including this legendary bit about the origins of Gray Ooze:
"Some sages believe that the gray ooze is the result of a failed alchemical experiment, while others postulate that the first gray oozes spontaneously arose from a cesspit of magical detritus."
That is straight out of the book, btw. :)
The conclusion that Vakkler will be able to reach is that the slime coming into contact with the girl who probably had witchy hexes running, and had trace amounts of several chemical reagents on her clothes/hair/skin, coupled with the highly magical nature of the school and the variety of magic fields that are constantly bouncing around... gave birth to a new type of Oozy life-form.
And I have stat'ed up and will run said Oozy funboy for this little adventure. :)
To give it time to get big enough for some real fun... I'd like to have it pop in and out of scenes, stealing food and whatnot. The plan is to have it make its big entrance the next day, preferably right after gym class.
Lynora/DB3 - I'm figuring as the head DM's you probably declare when 'The Next Day' happens... so I'll be following your lead on that.
Until then, I'm going to have Sinh trying to track its movements while Vakkler can make his discoveries and reach his conclusions.
If you've got any questions or concerns - fire them at me. Otherwise, play ON!
Nala actually is in cryptozoology, but they haven't got that far in the book yet. She honestly knows nothing of oozes. But yes, good call on the alchemy class, since I already had her chucking alchemical goo at Ephebe.
I like your explanation of the origin of the ooze. Interesting magical mishaps are bound to happen in this school.
As far as the next day goes we'll get there soonish. The group is gonna have that little talk to get everyone caught up on the necessary info. And then there's band practice. And after that we'll get to the next day. Your plan on when to unleash it is good. I'll coordinate Jiminy's attempted prank with accidentally unleashing the ooze then. :)
Works for me! I'm not in a hurry for the next day to happen, just shooting for the rough timing that works well. Feel free to let the conversations draw out, etc. - no hurry. Whether she is in cryptozoo or not, I like the idea of Nala being 'innocent' in terms of spawning this lifeform. :)
Yeah, being the jerk is the best way to survive a mystery. That is, as long as you aren't the victim. And as long as it's not a more gritty mystery, like Midsomer Murders, where you'll get arrested for something completely unrelated.

I very much see a new prestige class in Asch's future (after his discommendation from the Order)...Rogue Gunslinger sounds about right.
Honestly, people, do I need to turn on the frightful presence here?
Not at all, o' luscious one. And I've got the field amputation kit with me if your maiming plan is a 'go'... :D
For a doctor you're awfully eager to cause bodily harm...
On the contrary, my muse - I'm awfully eager to make sure no permanent harm is done, or infection sets in. (^.^)
Besides, if you want to hold whatever appendage you choose to take 'hostage' until he learns to behave himself properly in your wondrous presence, I can make sure said appendage is properly preserved. We can even put some disparaging tattoos on it if you're really feeling adventurous.... ;P
