Make her feel like she's being controlled the same way she controlled the pack. If she can break free, she passes!
Or something like that anyway. :)
Uh....that was pretty much her life before Avalon. Mommy dearest and cycle of abuse and all that.
No, I'm having trouble because she's being tested by Mercy and Luck to 1. See if she's a suitable candidate at all and 2. if she is suitable which one is she suited for.....And all of my ideas thus far have been uninspired to say the least.
Yeah. That's the problem. It's really tough to design tests for these concepts. Hence three drafts none of which worked out. *sigh* Sometimes creative endeavors are frustrating.
Mercy's test could see if she can spare Mab after all of the crap she's done...
Luck would possibly test her mind as far as weighing possibilites or chance...and be able to accept a bad run as well as a good run...or for any ability to push one way or the other...

That's all i got...
Interesting idea for Mercy's test...may run with that.
It was going just fine until my last cycle. My computer reset itself to install updates during one of my half-hour naps, and I slept until now. My nap was supposed to end about 7 hours ago.
A job? I wish I had a job. Job market sucks where I am. But if I were to have a job, I'd be fine. Most, if not all, places around here allow a break, and I'd take a nap during such a break. 30 minutes, and ready to go again.
Fine here, hopefully Lyn is okay though. She did post this morning, so hopefully she's just taking the day off to get some much needed (by the sounds) rest.
Neither. She's being tested by patrons so it's kinda the same effect as when a champion speaks with their patron. She's still there, but her surroundings, while real, are not able to be perceived by others.
Actually the whole Champion thing started with Ephebe since I needed a way to explain why she was time-traveling in the first story. And then my imagination took it and ran. :)
And since it didn't seem fair to be having fun on my own, we now have lots of champions and a whole lot more story and detail about them. :)
It's not as fancy as what Vai or Fei came up with, but here is what I've got for Dream's Champion so far.
Powers of the Champion of Dream:
1 9th level equivalent 1/day Heroic Invocation
Some Medium effects 3/day
Minor effects at will
Restful Slumber at will, lv8
Enchantment [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Oneiromancy 1
Components: V,S
Casting Time: 1 round
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels) 45ft
Target: One living creature
Duration: 1 hour/level
Saving Throw: Will Negates(harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes
You allow another creature to gain a full night's sleep, uninterrupted by nightmares. If you attempt to cancel the nightmares imposed by an outside source, such as a curse or another spellcaster, you must make a caster level check(1d20 + caster level) against a a DC of 11 + the caster level of the nightmare's source.
Manifest Desire, at will
Illusion [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Onieromancy 4
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close
Target: One living creature
Duration: Concentration + 3 rounds
Saving Throw: Will partial or disbelief(if interacted with)
Spell Resistance: Yes
The target's greatest desire appears before her in illusory form for all to see. Interaction with the image allows a Will save to disbelieve.
Many casters use this spell simply to learn the subject's greatest desire, not caring whether the illusion deceives the subject.
Manifest Nightmare, 3/day
Illusion [Fear, Mind-Affecting]
Level: Onieromancy 4
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close
Target: One living creature
Duration: Concentration + 3 rounds
Saving Throw: Will partial or disbelief(if interacted with)
Spell Resistance: Yes
The target's greatest fear appears before him in illusory form for all to see. So long as the nightmare remains manifest and in the subject's proximity, he must make a Will save every round or be panicked. Success on this save indicates that the subject is only shaken that round. This save is repeated every round for the spell's duration, until and unless the subject makes a successful save to disbelieve the illusion. In order to disbelieve the illusion, the subject must force himself to interact with it, to determine that it might be false.
Many casters use this spell simply to learn the nature of the subject's greatest fear, not caring whether the illusion actually causes the subject to panic.
