(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph turns to Eudomia and Mael, "Is that not the description of Ma..ister Leroung?"

She adds grimly a little annoyed by these complexity of the matter "Perhaps the receiving office could yield names of those in charge that may be behind this grievance, or we could set task to purpose by finding out what the door guard knows as he works here."

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

Mael and Eudomia both nod to Silyph, confirming the description as sounding like the man who gave them the job.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Speaking up for the first time, asking for his words to be translated "When he comes, does he come alone?"

(Male Human Wizard 1)

Cezar relays Hathin's question to the dragons, adding his own as well.

Draconic:
If we find out that the owner of the warehouse isn't involved in this, would you come talk to him, and tell him what you've told us?

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

Ilaria tells, "He came alone. The lower men all worked hard, moving boxes around, whenever he showed up, but didn't work that much when he was gone. The door man would shout, so they would know he was coming. One time, when he came, the hole in the ground was open. The door man shouted at the others, and they covered up the hole with boxes of wood. It seemed they were hiding it from him."

To Cezar's question, Livianus says carefully, "I might." An unspoken but lingers in the air.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Eyes narrowing "So man at door is part of this?" furrowed brow showing him deep in thought.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph listens carefully she chimes in at Hathins response. "Worry not Hathin my dear Fluffy is persuasive enough to loosen his tongue" she says with a smile.

She adds her own question to the mix in Draconic....

Draconic:

"Do all the men who work here aside from the plump one know of the passageway and partake in such grievance? If not would you remember the days or nights those that delved into the passageway?

She'll translate their answer and the question to keep Hathin in the loop and indicate that the receiving office may hold time sheets of works to cross reference with the dragonkin.

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

Holy crap, guys.

Earlier
Well, I'd like it if there were as little harm done as possible.

Now
Well, now I'm rethinking that, Silyph. We may need to hurt indeed, unfortunately. However, we should inform management before anything else is done.

Vasile doesn't have any questions to ask, however, and seems content to simply sit back and comfort her little brother.

Celestial:
It's alright, Cez. One way or another, they're going to regret what they've done here. I know you don't like it when I use my magic to hurt people, but sometimes it's gotta be done. Okay?

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

Pakak listens intently to the questions , and more importantly, answers.

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

"I know not. I saw several go down at times when I was watching, though I do not know if it was all of them." She goes on to describe a half-orc, a Sczarni, and two large Keleshites as being the workers she observed going into the hole.

(Male Human Wizard 1)

He hangs his head a bit, looking down at Reem sadly.

Celestial:
Yeah, I know you'll do what needs to be done.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph looks satisfied. She bows to the pseusdodragons before moving to the receiving office to pilfer through papers, looking for a work logg of some kind. Taking a 20 on a search check, any aid would be appreciated.

After she spends time rummaging through things she'll ask the group, "So are we to inquire of the identities of these men described. We have a pliable source here just outside these doors, if we wish not to trouble Mister Leroung. We could bring him before the Dragonkin to see if he participated as well, and if so confirm or deny that Mister Leroung was ignorant of what transpired based upon his reaction at threatening to tell his boss."

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

"Sounds like a plan if possible. Might help clear things up faster, assuming Mister Leurong can be talked into coming here." He looks to the others

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

In the office, Silyph finds many papers describing the incoming and outgoing goods of the warehouse, as well as letters from the other branches of the Leroung family businesses. Inside the desk, you find a ledger detailing the times that each person has worked. Though it is rather sloppy, you manage to find the log for the date in question. Using that ledger and the pseudodragon's descriptions, you manage to put names to the four workers Ilaria saw go into the pit:

Valeriu Costica, who you assume is the Sczarni,
Hakan Ilker, which sounds Kelish,
Serhan Tolker, likely the other Kelishite,
and Kennet Dagfin, which is likely the half-orc, given the other names. It sounds like a Kellid name.

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

It doesn't matter if we know who the perpetrators are. If we don't tell Mister Leroung about it first, in his eyes, we're just hurting his workers, and there's no way he's going to pay us at all. Unfortunately, the punishment needs to wait until we can get Leroung on our side in this quarrel.

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

is Silyph sharing that list/ledger with the others? I was about to assume so, but it occured to me anything is possible

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

The thought never crossed my mind. :)

Silyph returns from the receiving office carrying a piece of paper, "I believe I've rooted out the names of the four likely involved. Shall we arrange a meeting with Mr. Leroung and the dragonkin or will we be taking a more hands on approach in their imminent termination of employment?"

She looks a little sad by Vasiles and lets out a sigh, "Well as long as we're getting paid, still idle hands are Asmodeus tools and my hands seem quite idle as of late." with a tinge of disappointment in her tone.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

In a serious voice Hathin suggests "Why do we not wait for the men to come back, bar the door and burn the warehouse down around them."

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

Hathin De'Lark wrote:
In a serious voice Hathin suggests "Why do we not wait for the men to come back, bar the door and burn the warehouse down around them."

"Because some innocent pseudodragons might be in here when it happens" Pakak answers straight faced, "And while I am caring less and less about the money, I think that would guarentee none of us would get paid."

Looking to the elf, he answers, "I'm not a 'respect authority' kind of guy, but I suppose we should fill the employer in on some of this."

Glancing to the Psueodragons, he speaks up in their tongue

Draconic:
"We will try to put a stop to this, and have the bad men fired or worse from working here, and that ring closed up. If those men return while we are not here, or if the fights start up again, is there some way you can get word to us? I work as a cook at (name of place) some nights and maybe there. I would like to help protect you."

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

An eyebrow rises as he looks at the pseudodragon's wings and wonders why they seem unable to leave by themselves, but Hathin remains relatively silent in the broken conversation he hears.

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

The pseudodragon Livinius tells you, "We can leave at any time. We stay to stop them, though if you can guarantee justice, we will leave." He waits expectantly, and you realize what he responded to was not your words in Draconic, but what you were discussing on the side.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

To the pseudodragons he asks directly "Do you demand blood for blood?"

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

The pseudodragon considers, looks up to the rest of the brood silently for a while, then replies, "We only ask for justice. It would be unusual for them to be punished by your court system for killing our kind; your system views us as animals. Thus, you will need another way to punish them. We care not how our kin are avenged, so long as they are. And if you will not, we will find a way ourselves."

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

Well then, how are we going to go about making this happen? We need to tell Master Leroung, preferrably without alerting the workers to our knowledge of the ring.

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

Pakak looks to Vasile, "Sounds sensible, but I'm not sure Master Leroung is going to do much more than fire the guys... IF that. We still circle around to how to punish them if that's it."

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Knowing nothing of what these beasts might be capable of Hathin ventures "What can little scaly ones do?"

Agreeing with Pakak "We cannot be sure that Leroung will do anything..."

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

That doesn't mean we don't need to tell him. How's it going to look if we simply start attacking his workers? It doesn't matter if he does anything, I want to make sure that he knows what was going on here, and why the punishment of his workers would result in the expulsion of the pseudodragons.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph nods softly "I agree with Vasile if the four took the effort to hide this from Arnolt Leroung then he won't be pleased to hear of it and there may be some consequence in store for them"

She adds "While I don't care much for sating these dragonkin's need for vengeance the idea of forcing the four to do battle to the death in their own pit with the victor knowing our mercy seems, well appropriately poetic."

Turning to Eudomia she asks "Would it be possible to set up a meeting with Mister Leroung for later this afternoon?"

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

Eudomia nods, saying, "He has been meeting us at a nearby alehouse, using a middleman to set up meetings. We could talk to him today."

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

"Ok. We meet with him, see what happens, and take it from there."

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

Sounds good to me.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Although wary of meeting a man of authority who may know something of his previous master, Hathin shows no disagreement to the forward plan.

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

Assuming the rest agree:

Eudomia and Mael lead you to a tavern named the Creaky Hammock in Midland, where many a surly sailor is having a pint. A quick word from Mael to the barkeep, and a rough-looking Sczarni approaches. Mael tells him, "We need to talk again," and with a curt nod, the Sczarni departs. Mael orders up a pint for the wait (he looks to be maybe 16, maybe a bit older), while Eudomia has nothing.

Just say what you're doing; no need for specifics.

(Male Human Wizard 1)

Cezar will wait outside of the tavern, clutching Reem and looking around nervously. He shies away from the front door, staying nearby but not in the way of entry.

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

Vasile will simply wait, none-too enthused about being at a bar, but willing to get the discussion underway.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Hathin enters the tavern, but remains to one side - clearly happy to leave the talking to those more verbose. He passes the wait idly looking over the sailors for any interesting tattoos.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph follows vasile's lead. Except she also orders a mug of ale.

(Male Elf (Kyoni) Wizard (Banisher) 1)

Spoiler'd for length...

From the Beginning:
As the woman guides them along the orientation tour, a lanky elf in traveling clothes hangs near the middle of the pack. Though already taller than most at 5'11", he's gawky like a teenager that is still growing. He looks around, carefully cataloging the risk of each building and person, with a special note for the Hall of Wards -- apparently a particularly dangerous place if you're not welcome, and one that he hopes to spend a lot of time at. He watches the exchange between the industrious half-orc, rude elfboy, and feisty elfmaid with interest for what it shows of the character of each, then looks around to see who's trying not to be noticed. That half-orc would do better to hide in the crowd like me. Hanging back, hood up, practically screams "don't look at me".

Time passes.

Suleiyel receives a key for his room and one for his chest like everyone else. It's... a room. With a roommate. Sharing a room, at my age! Why, I'm over a hundred -- practically an adult! He sighs and accepts the keys with the manners his elfmomma taught him. "Thank you, sir."

Time passes.

Suleiyel is antsy with anticipation of his first class, and starting to regret that he hasn't been more sociable, since he has no-one to share the feeling with. However, he is quickly cured of that by Teaching Assistant Manfred's droning voice. He might've fallen asleep himself if it hadn't been for his amusement at the snoring piglet held by the rather anxious-looking... is that a very tall halfling or a very young human? More likely the latter, he supposes.

Time passes.

Suleiyel checks out all the libraries he can find in the area, reasoning that although the Academae saturates the area with arcanists, most would be of shorter-lived races and not full librarians already. He asks around, pounds the pavement, asks for directions, and walks some more; if pressed for a decision, he demurs that he's "looking for the best fit." Eventually, he returns to one -- possibly the same as Silyph's? -- declaring it to be the best library that he could find in Korvosa, and he would be honored to work there, even if just as an assistant.

Assuming he can find a position somewhere, Suleiyel dedicates his free time the first week to making money, with the next semester's tuition staring him in the face: 1d10 ⇒ 8 x 2 = 16 gp.

Time passes.

As dull as G101 is, the basic arcane principles eventually inspire Suleiyel with an idea for how to start a fire without flint & steel; perhaps even better, since it's magic, and wouldn't be bothered by the weather. He puts some experimentation and practice into it -- 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 vs. DC 15 to learn spark -- and finds it remarkably easy, to his delight.

Time passes.

Suleiyel continues to put in his free time making some money, for next semester's tuition. 1d10 ⇒ 2 x 2 = 4 gp. He also finds a second-hand store to sell his flint & steel at. Otherwise, emboldened by his success, Suleiyel mostly just experiments with more cantrips.

What if.. I didn't even need fire to make an object glow? It would be so much safer, walking around at night. Why, I'd only need my candles to keep from waking up my roommate! 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 vs. DC 15 to learn light: Fail! Every trick he thinks to try fails miserably, and he finally gives up in a fit of pique. "This is useless! I'll never get it down!"

He spends the rest of the week just taking hasty notes in class on his chalkboard as usual, carefully translating them onto parchment later, and working at the library when he can.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph puts down a few copper as she eagerly grabs her mug of ale. She turns to Vasile "Your brother is awfully skittish isn't he? Afraid of lingering in a tavern?" she takes a long sip before continuing "It's actually kind of.... *Bweeaaaauuugh*......." as a slight ill timed belch interrupts her conversation a look of terror and embarrassment washes over her as she immediately goes quiet and takes sips of her drink with far less frequency.

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

Suleiyel:
Your roommate is a stocky dwarf, with braided brown hair and cleanly-kept and braided beard. As he introduces himself as Rogar Himstul, you notice a holy symbol of silver dangling from his neck. You eventually learn (whether you ask directly or no) that he's not only a wizard of the Academae, but also a cleric dedicated to Torag. He's a jovial sort, who answers questions with a jest more often than not (but gets to the answer after).

The library you decide to settle on is the very same one as Silyph. It is run by a comely Varisian woman, who has a curt and professional attitude. You get a job there; your job is to run around to various locations (primarily in the Heights) and collect books for the librarian, and to run payment back to those people. You also help out sorting books and cleaning the place when there aren't any books you need to act courier for.

At the bar, after about a half hour a portly man walks into the bar. Cezar, if you want to enter when you see the man that's fine. He is balding, with a fiery red beard and many golden earrings. He walks in with a prominent limp, and comes straight to Mael when seeing him. He looks over the rest of you carefully as he approaches, seeming to gauge you. With a few whispers, Mael nods you all toward a back room, which he, Eudomia, and the merchant all walk toward.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

After a few moments hesitation, Hathin follows - though he does not seek to be engaged in the conversation, preferring to stand against the wall.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph will follow Eudomia and Mael drawing the hood of her robe to conceal her features as soon as she notices the man.

She'll find a nice comfortable place to sit and gauge for any social cues before she attempts to speak.

(Female Human Wizard(Evoker) 1)

Vasile will follow Eudomia, Mael, and anyone else who's in front of her. Before entering the back room, however, she goes to the front door, if Cezar hasn't come in yet.

Celestial:
Do you want to come in for the conversation? It's okay if you don't want to, I understand. This whole situation doesn't suit you.

(Male Half Orc Wizard (Abjurer))

Pakak follows along with the others, pretty quiet for now. Thoughtful about the events,he nonetheless tries to stay focused.

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

In the back room, the large man seats himself down, and motions for you all to sit as well. He says to you all, "It seems my Impers have multiplied. Did you summon these new ones up from the Hells, eh?" He snorts at his own joke as he looks at the half-orcs carefully.

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Hathin returns the man's gaze, holding eye contact for as long as he chooses to look at him...

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Silyph glaces to Eudomia and back to mael with a look of curiosity, and if no one speaks she'll add "Should we be summoned from hell we are no doubt bound to you and your task as though your own infernal servants" she makes the joke with a humble bow, "I am Silyph....and this is...." she'll trail off pointing to the new additions and giving their names.

When she's finished she'll her tone will turn foreboding "And I'm afraid your troubles at the warehouse have become multiplied beyond a closed down storehouse and a pseudodragon problem, I fear it could lose you 'a lot' more money than a slight delay in warehouse operations......so we came to call such issue to your attention...." she'll wet his appetite and try to gauge his reaction or see if he enquirers further.

(Male Half-dork 5 Nerd (universalist))

The merchant gives little ooohh's and grunts during Silyph's dialogue, and says in response, "You don't say? And what is it y' found in there, eh?" He eyes you carefully, his tone guarded and suspicious. He wipes his sweaty hands on his fine coat while he talks with his thick accent, and his eyes shift among the whole group.

(Female Elf Wizard Conjurer 1 (Infernal Binder))

Sorry for the long post, O.o Silyph had a lot to say.

Vhiloe pokes his head out of Silyph's robes and eyes the merchant carefully with his beedy little birdie eye. As a skeptical feeling washes over his mistress. Silyph gives the balding man a causual once over gauging his emotions hastily letting his question linger in the air for a moment before continuing.

Sense Motive Check:

Sense Motive [on Leroung]
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 (Vhiloe)
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 (Silyph)

Silyph coughs a little and clears her throat before continuing her little birdie hops up from his hiding place in her robes it's beak opens to say something but the sound of a mug falling and breaking from further in the tavern spooks him and he immediately darts back into the hidden confines of the robes.

Diplomacy Check:

Diplomacy Check (If needed)
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 (Vhiloe's aid another [Failure])
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 (Silyph)

Silyph smiles coyly "As to what we found well...." she pulls out the pesh she pocketed from the warehouse and casually places it on the table "......a sizable amount of this" she continues with a naive tone "Do you know what it is? I didn't, but it looked like some kind of drug. They tell me it's pesh" she motions to the others and pockets it again not letting it linger out in the open for too long. "We found it in a hidden basement in your warehouse along with a strange fighting pit and a few dead immature pseudodragons. You wouldn't know anything about this would you?"

She'll give him a moment to speak up and answer before quickly continuing "Well fortunately we didn't jump to conclusions and actually found the Pseudodragons quite forthcoming as we didn't approach them with brute force unlike some others they've mentioned." she takes a sip of her ale "So there's good news and there's bad news. The good news is that the dragonkin pointed us in the right direction and we've discovered the identities of those in your employ responsible for these things and made some headway in getting your pest problem to leave on their own accord and I'm sure we'll all be glad to discuss how to handle things with you, but that brings me to the bad news......"

she takes yet another sip of her ale "You see the bad news is I personally joined this job merely to deal with a pseudodragon problem, dealing with your hirelings and covering up smuggling, illicit substances, vice tax evasion, and a blood sport racket wasn't in the job description. I'm afraid I'll walk away from such a job as the price isn't nearly worth the headache nor complications...." she takes another sip casually "A job like that I would eyeball at around 560gp, what do you all think? she motions to the rest of the party ".....to me that seems appropriate; coincidentally split seven ways that the price of tution for one class for an Imper, funny how coincidences are don't ya think?"

She'll take sip of her ale her drink almost finished "What do you think though, does that price sound about right? You can of course resolve the problem by finding some means of fighting off the dragonkin and cover it all up in the time it takes my guilt to over come my conscience leading my feet to the nearest Korvosan guard outpost.....and doing what would be my civic duty in exposing all the vile things that have gone on in the warehouse you're liable for cheaper then that's always an option" she punctuates the last statement with a blank curious stare before breaking the silence with a smile and finishing off her drink "Well that was refreshing I might have another" she muses absentmindedly.

Intimidate Check:

Intimidate check (if needed to punctuate the end of her dialogue)
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

(Male Half-Orc Witch 1)

Hathin remains propping up the wall of the chamber, preferring to remain silent.
