No offense taken. I've never actually played the system and I don't have hero lab so I'm still quite new at this. I'll fix what you mentioned. I'm happy for input from anyone. I went with the costs that Robertness gave me for the powers so hopefully they're right.

Have at it, Zouron...and thanks, but be gentle, it's my first time.

Don't worry I have some experience I will make this... pleasant for you. ;)

Allright first off you are lacking two complications these are mandatory in MnM 3e (and one must be your motivation).

All your powers lacks a descriptor, they must be there.

Your Grab DC is 10 and your throw DC is 15.

Shadow glide is subtle 2, what exactly do you want to accomplish with that? Subtle hides the effect like you don't know you attacked because there is nothing to sense of the attack (like a mental blast)... However it doesn't hide you, so it hides that you are flying (which is an effect without visual clues to begin with) but everyone can see you are not standing on the ground, so... what is the point?

You haven't specified which check Ultimate Effort applies to.

You can increase your Agility by 3 and retrieve that from the points from acrobatic and stealth and gain a net +3 bonus to initiative (almost an extra improved initiative feat), could be useful.

You could do something similar with awareness, thought the advantage here is more ephemeral, since the bonus would only be to awareness checks that doesn't apply to a specific skill.

One last advice, you lack a mean of getting around fast, consider getting a motorcycle or a car. While shadow glide might get you form one place to the next faster during rush hour, the rest of the time it is rather slow.

That was all, overall a nicely designed character as far as I can tell, personally though I would have wanted at least one effect that didn't go on will but this does fit the theme.

DM Jelani wrote:

Okay, I think I'm done. I would really appreciate a glance over by Zouron or Robertness to make sure I did everything right.

First off you are certainly improving in how you handle the system.

Okay the math is a bit off I believe you should still have 6 pp left, I strongly suggest placing these in skills that support your feats.

Concerning skills, assessment require you to roll a skill check opposed by an opponent, so you want at very least to have a +10 modifier in Insight.

Every skill you have that is less then 5 should be reconsidered if you really want it, because there is a pretty good chance they will only be "background".

Most of your attacks are perception range, so you don't roll to hit with them and therefore as long as you can see with an accurate sense (like sight) the target you will hit, I recommend dropping precise attack. Maybe get Awareness sense instead to detect thoughts and of course ranged accurate as well giving you a 360 through walls accurate sense? Though it will require a serious thought to high perception.

From a mechanical stand point you sorta lack a power with some bang for the bucks, +6 for mental blast is a bit weak when the game assumes an average of +10, this makes you much more reliant on successfully controlling others with your mind control, preferably with a 3 degree success (mean they have fail the roll by 15 or fail by one degree (less then five) three times).

Heavy pistol cost 8 equipment point, but equipment 2 gives you 10 equipment points, you have 2 EP to spare perhaps an undercover shirt just to give you a tiny bit of toughness? I would like to remind you that your character is extremely vulnerable to attacks, having neither max'ed defences or resistant to attacks, not even mental ones.

Hope I wasn't being too tough on you.

If the robertness(aka GM) gave you those numbers, then it is pretty safe to assume that they are correct and I was mistaken. My bad.

Hmm. I can't stand playing weak characters so this will require some thought. Thanks for the insight (and the Hero Lab write up).

I suffer the same problem, I don't want to play the village idiot stumbling through the epic dungeon, I want to play the chosen warrior taking on challenges beyond the ken of mortals.

Was he once a man, bitten by a radioactive sewer gator? An ancient Egyptian god? A pan-dimensional hyper-intelligent rodent possessing the body of an alligator an mutating it for its own bizarre purposes?

No one knows and Gator's not telling. But few people ask a nine foot lizard man where he came from. Most just flee at the sight of him. So Gator has to help from the shadows. And he wants to help. If only to find someone who will accept him for who he is instead of what he is.

Okay, here's an updated version of Roman.

Why is the DC so low for my mind control? As it's basically my only offensive ability, I need to make sure it works almost every time. What can I give up to make it stronger? The progressive should help a bit, but I don't know if it's enough.

The DC is based on your rank, basically the fewer ranks the lower DC, since you bought some very expensive extras (perception range and progressive) you can no longer afford to get it to the level where it works more then 50% of the time.

What if I was a sh*tty mind reader instead? Or a touch only empath or something? Would those free up enough points to improve the mind control? What about limiting the range of the mind control to a few hundred feet (or less)?

That looks pretty much perfect man. I'd rather have a smart phone than a flashlight and a camera. I'll switch the persuasion to investigation though those are the only two things I'll change. Thank you so much ^_^

Should we make a list of done players now do you think?

Just remember the weakness of this build is that you can't use telepathy while attacking and the like, that is the weakness of that build, the trade-off I made to get the massive damage and control powers, without cutting anything else short.

That's fine.

seems we may need a new new gm we seem to have lost 2 now :(

I was starting to think the same, since Robertness said he wanted to start the game tomorrow/today. Maybe we are lucky and he will log on today and sort things out, you never know!

we live in hope :)

The one gift that was in pandora's box.

"Hope and an IOU for one Cigar" as my dad used to say.

I hereby withdraw my interest and submission. Good luck to everyone.

Robertness hasn't been on since Thursday. But we also gave him a ton of stuff to look over. I'd give him some time before assuming anything.

O.o

I'll wait around forever since I really do want to play this system. But my hopes are about as high as an ant's ass at this point.

Its hard being a super when no ones loves ya

Sorry, everyone. I won't bother you with excuses, but I wasn't able to get online this weekend. I'll attempt to get caught up later.

Edit: Though judging by some comments, I'm tempted to shut this down now. Not making any decision yet because I need to cool off some.

Agreed - and personally speaking I've a ton on at the moment (and am a total novice with the system) so the long game works for me... :)

I for one totally appreciate the time and effort you've given my concepts Robertness.

My 2 Gamma Rays worth

In the end you have to do what you feel is best, though I think you can assume that negative comments in large part is an expression of our helplessness with the situation, unlike friends living close to you we have no means of communicating with you outside this board and as such have no means to do anything to move things forward.

*********************

Anyway I been thinking a bit about how to pass the time in a bit of a fun way, we all have our characters thought up (though for me anyway I haven't settled on a single concept yet). ANYWAY when you write stories and the like one way to get to know the characters you use is to make up list of silly questions and have them answer them in as complete manner as possible, I'll start off with having 5 questions here I will answer for my characters:

1) What food your character absolutely loath?
2) What activity do your character do while eating breakfast?
3) When shopping for groceries, does your character shop exactly by a predetermined list or does the character browse?
4) What celebrity would your character most like to meet?
5) What did your character vote, what would your character vote in the upcoming election? (Republican, Democratic, a named third party, abstain).

Nanael:

1) What food your character absolutely loath?
Meat, Nanael is a vegetarian, not so much because she feels bad for eating meat, but because she used to be served a lot of old meat while living in the orphanage.

2) What activity do your character do while eating breakfast?
When alone she tends to dance to loud pop music while eating fruit or bread feeling happy and uplifted by the beat and energy of the music, though when in company she instead sits by the table and tries to keep up a conversation having been taught that it how a proper person behaves.

3) When shopping for groceries, does your character shop exactly by a predetermined list or does the character browse?
Nanael browses, she wants to indulge herself in all the finest and best things the store has to offer, and those hopefully lead to complete meals, something that can often takes a lot of creativity, which is why apples is a most, best back up food there is.

4) What celebrity would your character most like to meet?
Korean Pop Star Psy, She finds Gangnam style to be way way to funny and amusing, the whole craziness fill ehr with happiness and laughter.

5) What did your character vote, what would your character vote in the upcoming election? (Republican, Democratic, a named third party, abstain).
nanael hasn't been paying all that much attention, but she doesn't like the two major parties and the ideals of the green party are not all that bad, peace, clean environment? that's a great start.

Night Runner:

1) What food your character absolutely loath?
Garlic, not so much because it tastes bad more because she has an allergic reaction to it and thus it would be just wrong to like it.

2) What activity do your character do while eating breakfast?
Listening to Sci-Fi Radio Dramas, Night Runner loves to imagine the characters behind the words and of course the weirdness and silliness helps!

3) When shopping for groceries, does your character shop exactly by a predetermined list or does the character browse?
When shopping it is absolutely and 100% important to have planned what you eat tog et a balanced energy rich food that can keep you at top performance, thus a predetermined list is essential and browsing is like committing treason against your body, since you obviously always ends up with unwanted chocolate.

4) What celebrity would your character most like to meet?
George Lucas, Just so she can tell him her opinion about the gungans.

5) What did your character vote, what would your character vote in the upcoming election? (Republican, Democratic, a named third party, abstain).
Night Runner wouldn't vote, as it wouldn't make a difference anyway, one politician or the other they are all selfish rich white bastards and nothing gets done to help those who need helping.

Warpath:

1) What food your character absolutely loath?
Chewing gum, people leave it everywhere and it sticks and becomes impossible to remove.

2) What activity do your character do while eating breakfast?
Warpath usually perform her system diagnostics and maintenance in the morning.

3) When shopping for groceries, does your character shop exactly by a predetermined list or does the character browse?
There is no point in browsing, shopping is done to cover specific needs and it is most time efficient to focus only on those items.

4) What celebrity would your character most like to meet?
None, this passion of organics to raise someone above the rest based on so called cultural standards serves no purpose.

5) What did your character vote, what would your character vote in the upcoming election? (Republican, Democratic, a named third party, abstain).
All the parties have no reasonable platform that holds any interest for Warpath, abstain.

Zys:

1) What food your character absolutely loath?
Snails, they are disgusting yuck, get away from me!

2) What activity do your character do while eating breakfast?
Turn on the TV and watch the morning cartoons.

3) When shopping for groceries, does your character shop exactly by a predetermined list or does the character browse?
A bit of both, sure there are stuff she needs, but there might be something good , or interesting if we keep looking.

4) What celebrity would your character most like to meet?
Sean Connery, dreamy! and hot even for an old guy.

5) What did your character vote, what would your character vote in the upcoming election? (Republican, Democratic, a named third party, abstain).
Obama, He seems like a nice guy!

Sorry, everyone, but I'm not going to run this. My decision has little to do with negative comments I saw in the thread. I've really taken on more than I can handle trying to run a cross genre homebrew with a system that's new to me and most of the players.

I'd like to thank everyone for their positive response to my concept, but I don't think I'd be able to keep up my end as GM and it's better to kill it off now than after a few weeks of play.

:(

A shame to hear it, was looking forward to it. Maybe in the future.

Honestly, Zouron, I think you've got a better grasp of the mechanical side of this game than I. Hint, hint. j/k

Might be, but I tried running a PbP once (MnM 2e) and it didn't last all that long... maybe a irl 6 hour play session worth of time.

Mechanical grasp is not everything trust me ;) besides balance and creating villain character is a lot more loose in MnM then most games, so you can make strong NPCs without being a super tweaker.

Sorry to hear that, robertness. I appreciate your willingness to reevaluate priorities before the commitment begins -- a much wiser and braver thing to do than start something and then realize you can't do it.

My comment was only because of the fact that it's a common occurance for PBP games to not get off the ground. Nothing personal to you Robertness. I totally understand in fact, I'm supposed to be starting a home game in real life, but am finding myself with no time to write it because I have too many PBPs going. I don't want to cancel one of them, but I think I'll end up having to. -sigh-

Well I don't like the general feeling of dissapointment that this game has made, so I will be designing my own campaign and running it soon. The campaign info will be up tommorrow and I will post a link here for anyone still interested.

Hopefully I will see some of you there.

I like, totally called it. M&M is a very hard game to GM, I think if you have any doubts about GMing it like robertness and others (me as well in RL), it fine to back out. It take a hell of a lot of time. DM Jelani is running I think 6 games on here and myself 2, for me thats the limit any more and I would go nuts.

There may be some one out there how could GM for us, but Im sorry to say it would not be me, just do not gave the time or skills.

We again live in hope.
