Cool, we'll wait for everyone to check in. Then I'll start the gameplay thread and set up the first post.
Trini Xibalba |
K. I am getting married on Sat so I'm out of town Thurs to Mon. I expect to be able to post outside of the weekend (I'm likely to welcome the break!). I'll message you as it gets closer with some 'Autoplay' options in case of combat.
inxpitter |
Congrats on you're marriage! Sounds like you'll be having an eventful weekend.
A few house rules so everyone's aware...
1. I will roll you're initiative and get the combat order ready. This saves on time before combat and will help you decide what you want to do.
2. Don't read spoilers that have certain checks needed unless you succeed with the check.
3. While I wish we could have a post from everyone each weekday, I know that isn't likely, so please keep us informed in the discussion thread should you know you won't be posting for a day or two. In such events, the campaign will continue or in combat I will decide an action for you. Its fine for you to specify default actions if you'd like.
4. If you have a question, feel free to post in the discussion thread, and remember that I'm still a bit new to this so I may make mistakes.
5. Lets all have fun, eh?
The first post will be up today, so hope you're all ready to play.
DM Default |
Will post an update about going to town later tonight, but it'll be a while. Feel free to converse in character before then. Get to know each other and all that.
DM Default |
no problem with me. As long as you aren't actively doing in response to problems, a little tweaking in the early levels is fine.
DM Default |
Roll 20 is a site you have to make an account to use, but it is pretty handy for map tools and such. However, I'll look into using google docs instead. We won't need a map till actual combat starts.
Korunar Bloodaxe |
How does google docs help with pathfinder? I only know about autosheet.
I've made an account on roll20 a while ago, but haven't used it yet. Looked like a very handy website though.
DM Default |
Quick poll as we're moving along. Who would be alright with creating roll20 account for the combat sections. It doesn't cost anything and it has a lot of tools that make it easier.
Daniel Chelas |
Korunar, google docs' Drawing (paint, essentially with extra features) is used as the background to post/host maps upon, where you can add icons and the like. After which you can share the link for viewing/edit.
I wouldn't be against signing up for roll 20, but i will likely just have access from my PC, not every app has been working properly on my android.
Korunar Bloodaxe |
Ah, thank you for the clarification. I thought they just had tools like the google version of word, excel, etc.
I'm fine with roll20 but every other free tool is okay too.
DM Default |
I'm going to make a roll20 game for combat then.
Also, Korunar, I'm not sure why you opened Daniel's spoiler, but in the future please open the spoilers designated to you.
After a "scene" has ended, you are all free to check out what happened in the entirety of the "scene."
Korunar Bloodaxe |
Yeah, I failed there. I thought he is in my line of sight so I might knew what's happening with him. So I opened mine and his spoiler just to find out that you've included his fortune in my spoiler as well. Not gonna happen again.
DM Default |
For simplicity sake, let's not use spoilers to hide info in combat (part of the fun in combat is working together after all) feel free to discuss a bit here with each other.
DM Default |
All right, he'll be a bot for this round. On a future note, do you guys want a time limit on posting? such as 24 hours after DM last post or something?
DM Default |
about the wanderlust trait, my apologies. You can move an additional 20 feet. pleasemove yourself to the desired position on the map.
Trini Xibalba |
Yeah, that sounds like a good time limit. For me, healing if needed (or, in later levels, useful spells), if not then attack.
Bently Understair |
about the wanderlust trait, my apologies. You can move an additional 20 feet. pleasemove yourself to the desired position on the map.
Not to be a jerk but if that's the wanderlust trait, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't apply to tactical movement. Just overland travel.
Wanderlust
Your childhood was brightened by the new places you constantly saw as you traveled with your parents, who were merchants. Still excited by travel, you gain great energy when traveling overland.
Benefit(s): Treat your base land speed as 10 feet higher when determining your overland speed.

There are three movement scales, as follows:
Tactical, for combat, measured in feet (or 5-foot squares) per round.
Local, for exploring an area, measured in feet per minute.
Overland, for getting from place to place, measured in miles per hour or miles per day.
Daniel Chelas |
That could be viewed both ways.
If it would mean actions depending on base speed, like climbing, i'd agree. I took it specifically for faster movement while walking, as walking is moving over land.
Up to the GM of course, but i'd like to change the trait if he goes with Bently on this.
DM Default |
Alright,I've looked over forums and the official SRD. Bently is correct in his interpretation, and if we think about it a +10 to movement in combat is pretty powerful for just a trait.
Daniel, you can choose a different trait to replace wanderlust if you'd like.
Also, the 24 hour deadline will only apply to weekdays as I'm sure you all have your personal lives to live. On weekends, I'll wait until everyone's posted, and given the fact I posted yesterday, I'd update Monday morning if we have some stragglers.
DM Default |
So for attack rolls made against you guys, would you rather have it lumped with the D< dice rolls spoilers where you aren't allowed to peak, or in the writing directed at you?
Korunar Bloodaxe |
I think the best option is to include them in the general spoilers (like for the first floor). Because near characters should see if one of us is attacked but others (like a lonely half-orc on the second floor) should not.
Edit: On the other hand we don't hide our combat actions in spoilers, so we might as well see all attack rolls against any of us.
Korunar Bloodaxe |
About moving on stairs:
"A character can move up or down stairs as part of their movement without penalty, but they cannot run on them. Increase the DC of any Acrobatics skill check made on stairs by 4. Some stairs are particularly steep and are treated as difficult terrain." source
DM Default |
Alright, you all should be able to move your own characters now.
And Bently, with the rules about stairs and your distance from the stairs, I'd allow you to get to the landing, but not all the way up.
DM Default |
I've updated everyone's positions.
Trini, you still technically have your standard but can double move if you'd like.
Trini Xibalba |
Ok. I'll need to look at the roll20 to figure out what to do with the rest of my action (so later tonight). I'd like to be healing poor Korunar, but I'm not sure if I can reach.
