Having done my MBA a while ago, I am proud of the fact that I found a school that met my four requirements: ACSB accredited, no snow, no comprehensive exams, and no thesis required. University of West Florida in Pensacola. Lots of group projects and term papers though. I am also proud I used the same paper on the business climate of Japan for three different classes (now they have websites to stop that, I found out when I started teaching finance and accounting that all our submitted papers went into turnitin.com). I concur--have fun and enjoy the holidays.

Round 1 - intrim recap

Seeing the snake leap out at him, Tybek swings his axe. Unfortunately the snake's hide is too tough and the axe harmlessly ricochets off.

Maegge the brave hobbit then charges forward and determines that these snakes are indeed poisonous and it would be best to avoid getting bitten by them.

Not wanting to be left out of the fray, Glorfin, much quicker than normal, charges forward landing a viscous blow to the nearest snake leaving it bloodied and bruised, but still alive.

The snakes, being apparently quite hungry, renew their attack on Tybek. Something that will undoubtedly require a substantial amount of snake mouthwash once they land a blow.

Fortunately for the charismatically challenged dwarf, both snakes miss their mark.

Seconds later, a small glob of acid flies across the room from Braden striking the already injured snake, but failing to kill it.

From there, he slowly pears around into what turns out to be a storage area which leads around the corner to the stairway. While you had glanced at this previously after fighting the brigands, this time when Tybek pokes his large dwarvish nose around the corner, the first thing he realizes is that there is a lot of squeaking coming from the stairway. Moments later he discovers what the squeaking is as one by one a number of very large rats suddenly begin to run around the corner from the direction of the stairwell.

Among the most majestic of raptors, these predatory birds pluck fish from streams and lakes, drop down on rodents and small mammals in alpine meadows, and have even been known to pull young mountain goats from the assumed safety of their cliffs.

These creatures, like all birds of prey, have powerful clawed talons and sharp, hooked beaks perfect for tearing flesh. Their enhanced eyesight allows them to spot prey from great distances, and they typically hunt in wide circling patterns high above the ground.

Eagles typically build their massive nests in the tops of tall trees or among the rocky crags of steep cliffs. During breeding season, an eagle lays two eggs, but only one chick normally survives, as the stronger of the two usually kills and eats the weaker.

Eagles generally weigh between 8 and 15 pounds, with a wingspan of up to 7 feet, depending on the species.

Spying the rats, Tybek lets loose with his axe nearly cutting the first rat in half, leaving a bloody mess on the floor.

Hearing the sound of yet more combat and the call of rats, Arindale prepares himself for whatever may spring forth from the storage area and stairway.

Paying much more attention than usual, Ranim begins an uplifting song about eradicating rats from the sewers of her hometown - you are not sure how this song should be uplifting, but it does make you want to hit the rats a little bit harder.

Maegge, unsure of what awaits, waits to see if the brunt of his jokes dwarf stays to fight the rats, or retreats.

And Glorfin, once again being alert and prepared before the rats, takes a mighty swing, unfortunately the corner of the wall gets in his way throwing off the aim of his hammer.

Then the rats spring forth. Much to everyone's surprise, they must have had a tunnel beneath some of the refuse piled against the wall next to the storage area because not only to they continue to attack Tybek, but several also appear in front of Braden and his brave puppy. Being prepared, Arindale takes a quick swing at one of them, but his aim is off and he just misses the vermin.

Round 1-2 recap
After the rats initial attack, the party quickly regathers and returns the assault.

Maegge quickly steps forward and swings his sickle and one of the rats attacking Bradens puppy. Unfortunately the large rat easily evades the weapon. Maegge's trusty companion is not so easy on the rat before it and easily impales the filthy vermin on one Gimpy's antlers.

Tybek follows Maegge's example and severs the head from another rat standing before him.

Braden follows by deciding that being a spectator is preferable to becoming rat food. He thus transports himself a short distance away and fires his crossbow at the nearest rat. All are engaged, so the -4 results in a miss. Braden's trusty hound on the other hand returns the favor to the rat that bit it a minute earlier by removing a large chunk of flesh from the rat's leg. While not killing the rat, the creature appears to be on its last leg.

While the little folk are attacking and/or running away from the battle, Glorfin and Arindale are introducing the poor rats to their weapons - with deadly results.

Round 2 - recap
Despite taking a severe beating, the hungry vermin continue to pour forth, although through his disheveled beard Tybek does notice that the number of new rats appears to have greatly diminished. Nonetheless, several more scamper through the hole to attack Arindale, Glorfin, Gimpy and the puppy.

Rat 1 @ Tybek: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Rat 2 @ Glorfin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Rat 5 @ Tybek: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Rat 6 @ Glorfin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Rat 7 @ Gimpy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Rat 8 @ puppy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Rat 9 @ puppy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 +DC11 Fort or diseased

Although Gimpy and the puppy both take nasty bites, the party once again remains unscathed.
As soon as the rats finish their assault, there is a nasty crunch from before Tybek as his axe cleanly severs one rat before him from skull to tail.

Apparently the bite threw off Gimpy's concentration as his antlers this time narrowly miss the rat that bit him. Maegge is not so unlucky though and quickly dispatches the rat which the puppy had bitten the prior round.

Party up. -- The rat closest to Maegge and one by Tybek are down. I had already exported the map before finishing the post.

Visiting family for the holidays. Too tired to update. Will try to get something done in the next day or two - waiting on Glorfin and Ranim, but will DMPC them if nothing posted when I get to it on the morrow.
