Kothar Kreedan |
it dose have a 19 strong but it is small size, and I don't think you can fly if you get a medium load...
"Xill could do that for some but others would be far to massive for her to carry"
Aleziella Libuyaza |
There is nothing in the rules against that explicitly, but I think it's a GM call. Jason?
JasonX |
Its a plant, not a thinking creature (it has an INT of -), so the "killing" part is not really an issue as it would be on the same level as removing poison ivy from your property. Xill can fly with a medium load, but loses a maneuverability class, if this reduces him below clumsy, then he can't fly.
JasonX |
You travel for a bit, all the while the mongrelmen look a little uncomfortable at the apparent strife in your group. The tunnel opens into a circular cavern, roughly forty feet in diameter. Thick sheets of fungus grow in the cave, and several tunnels branch off. All of these save one in the north wall lead downward; the northern one leads upward. What appear to be two dead bodies lie on the ground in the middle of the cave, next to a strange heap of ropy green fungus.
Xantrius |
"So we have a plan then. Korak will use the scale to levitate and ferry each of us across the chamber with xill providing the lateral force. He should be strong enough to drag the cloud behind him, we just have to tie a rope to him. Kothar, if you would be so good as to handle that?" Xantrius directs the group, trying to keep everyone moving and provide a more unified front so as to inspire confidence in the group.
Kothar Kreedan |
Kothar looks to the dwarf with a bit of anger "I know it's difficult for some to notice the sex of a dragon and a bit harder for dwarfs considering that you can hardly tell your females from the males. With all the body hair you both grow, but I have referred to xill as a female a few times now and I would ask you to remember that and not insult her again..."
Kothar takes the scale and the the rope instructing xill on what to do he turns to the others looking at the armored one "and that goes for you as well I thank you not to make that mistake again. ..right then who's first"
not trying to argue that gust seems like how my character would respond ^_^
Korak The Boisterous |
Korak turns to Aleziella. Right, put them all out.
Korak then puts a hand on Kothar's shoulder squeezing just a bit harder than necessary. Listen here, friend, I'll not start anything down here, but if'n you go insulting my people like that again I'll knock your block off once we're safe up there. I've offered you no disrespect and I appreciate your help with that mad 'un, but you've chosen to throw a gauntlet in my face over a mistake in her gender, I apologize for that, do you?
Kothar Kreedan |
At when the dwarf grips Kothar's shoulder Xill takes an aggressive stance and hisses wings open wide and her talons rake the ground Kothar raises a claw and speaks
he looks Korak in the eye "The disrespect you gave was when you spoke of her as a male, tell me were will your anger be if someone called your family the wrong sex...You act as if you give apology but give a threat before it. When i was respectful to your old traditions and gave that sad one a proper burial" Kothar moves his shoulder free and looks into Korak's eyes "Now give and apology in truth or you will have the wrath of dragons upon you, then i will could offer mine" a cold breeze passes as Xill hisses again and ice forms about her maw
Tanya Taze |
"Oh shush, both of you. It really isn't worth fighting over. Don't call the dragon a boy, and don't call dwarves hairy. Simple enough? Now stop bickering and let us get back to focusing on our current obstacle, the plant fungus creature." Tanya doesn't really seem to care about the quarrel itself, but apparently she doesn't want to listen to it.
Xantrius |
"My sincerest apologies, I meant no disrespect! I believe that the stress of this situation is getting to all of us. I am sorry for my mistake, Madam." Xantrius finishes with a short bow to Xill, hoping the dragon will understand his tone, if not his words. He looked curiously at her for a moment and wondered just how much she understood.
Korak The Boisterous |
Not threat, warning. I be of good nature, but not so good to lightly let an insult to my people pass, I gave apology, you've made your own position clear and I won't forget it. Now have her take this so we don't die down here. Korak activates the scale and helps Xantrius up first.
Kothar Kreedan |
Kothar seams to relax a bit "A threat and a warring have no difference both are words promising violence. But yes i do apologies for my quick words and i will not forget your brashness ether." at Xantrius words Xill returns his bow with a small respectful nod of her head the tension seem to have gone she is ready to take flight
It was not an insult don't all female dwarfs have beards? ^_^
Kothar Kreedan |
OMG im so sorry i did not know you had a hair follicle condition ;p your avatar has hair so...They have beards
Korak The Boisterous |
One, this isn't lord of the rings, two, pretty sure he's just being funny though you don't know since you never see a dwarven female in Lord of the rings... that you can tell anyways.
Xantrius |
Xantrius looks at the dead bodies and stabs at the fungus warily. "It is good that we do not have to face this creature, but what caused its demise?" he asks as he tries to find any clues to what killed the men and the plant.
Heal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Korak The Boisterous |
Korak searches the bodies thoroughly. Maybe something it ate didn't agree with them.
JasonX |
It is apparent that the two men killed it. The two bodies are crusaders of Iomedae. It looks like they killed the Fungus creature and one perished in the fight while the other died afterwards from its spores. The crusaders are armed with glaives and spiked gauntlets instead of the traditional longsword usually carried by crusaders of Iomedae.
Xantrius |
"An unusual choice of weapons." Xantrius remarks. "We should take them with us to give them a proper burial and let their next of kin know they died bravely. Korak, did you find anything on the bodies to identify them?"
Bakji the Vanguard |
Bakji walked up to the two men killed and looked over them carefully. trying to find their symbol of faith. He doubted that he could carry their bodies along with him thought he would prefer to to give them the proper burial they deserved, but he knew that their armor and weapons must be carried to their relatives.
"Permit me to carry them to their kin, the body may be dead but their soul will live on as guardians of their kin through their weapons and armor...so I ask only that if you choose to use their weapons, to at least take care of them till we can return them." he said solemnly. He said a soft prayer over their bodies before he began to carefully take the armor off the bodies with much care and very gently.
JasonX |
Both men still wear a masterwork chain shirt. One of the dead bodies still carries a potion, while the other has a scroll in a pouch. Between the two of them, they also carry 200 gp. The body on which the scroll was found clutches something tightly in his fist—a small symbol of a brass bull’s head with tiny red gemstone eyes.
2d20 ⇒ (18, 12) = 30
Both Xantrius and Bakji immediately recognize it as an unholy symbol of Baphomet.
Aleziella Libuyaza |
So we Are going to carry around 400 lbs of dead flesh? Isn't it a DC 10 check to recognize the symbol? If so the rest of us should get rolls as well.
Aleziella is sad that the crusaders are dead, people dying is never a good thing, even if they did make the tunnels safer to travel. "They fought bravely and took down this great danger to the environment. Still, we don't know for how many days we would have to carry them around until we reach their next of kin, nor how to find them, if they even have any. There are going to be hundreds if not thousands of deceased crusaders by the end of this war, assuming of course they still have any after what happened at the surface. They will be very hard to identify after decomposing as well. I say we bury them in a cairn here instead. Show them what honor we can, but not set us this nearly impossible task, when we got so many other things to focus on. Like getting back to the surface and fighting the demons afterwards. Still, their equipment should be put to use fighting against the demons. We should take it with us, and if we can't use it, sell it to get equipment that we can use."
Xantrius |
"No true follower of Iomedae would carry that symbol! This is most disturbing. If cultists of Baphomet have infiltrated the ranks of the crusaders, it is even more vital that we reach the surface quickly to warn the city, if they do not already know. This may be why the demons were able to attack Kenabres, if they had spies subverting the city's defenses!" Xantrius sounds very concerned as he paces back and forth. He grabs the unholy symbol from the corpse's hand and stows it away to use as proof.
Bakji the Vanguard |
Forgive me, I wasn't quite clear with intent. Bakji basically was trying to say that to he wants to deliver the armor and arms to their kin as that is how a follower of Iomedae delivers "them" to their kin. So no flesh, only equipment.
Bakji the Vanguard |
Bakji raised a brow at ALeziella's brashness. "Forgive me but I cannot abide by selling their gear. The honorable thing would be to return it to their kin. If they have no kin then I can see selling it to the church so that it can continue it's service as an option but I did not mean to carry the bodies only their equipment which will serve well enough to identify them." he said.
Korak The Boisterous |
This is disturbing Xantrius, but there may be another explanation. We may wish to keep this to ourselves for now. To avoid panic.
Aleziella Libuyaza |
"Cultists? Infiltrators? That's awful. We have no way to know for sure now that they are dead, but if that is the case, at least they finally did something good with their lives by making these tunnels a safer place. And Bakji, even if they weren't cultists, this is war! We can't afford to send gear around instead of using it to battle our enemies. Also, we have no way to identify their next of kin anyway. Would you rather bury the gear with them and weaken us in the fight against the demons? You make no sense."
Korak The Boisterous |
Look everyone. Stop arguing about the armor and weapons. We can discuss that later. And stop assuming they were cultists because of that symbol. It doesn't look good and we do need to inform the higher ups, but that may have been their plan as well. We don't know where they got it. Let's get the goods and continue on. We've almost gotten these people to safety, provided the town remains intact.
Xantrius |
"It is not merely the symbol. The weapons they bear are also traditional of those who follow the Demon Lord of Beasts and Labyrinths. But you are right; let us gather their belongings and move on."
He offers a few words over the bodies before they leave. "Though these men served the cause of evil and all that is vile and ugly in the world, let it be remembered that they did at least one good turn by removing a threat to the people that dwell here."
Korak The Boisterous |
Korak shakes his head and sighs. I surround myself with fools who see only what they want to see. He thinks to himself.
Aleziella Libuyaza |
I agree to move on, we can continue this discussion infinitely. Though of course feel free to respond with the next post as well. But I feel like it has been a long while since we last saw action.
As they start moving Aleziella puts away her crossbow and once again picks up her rapier to resume her stance.
Kothar Kreedan |
Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Kothar looks at the party and slowly shakes his head "In ether case we should bury them in the iomedaean tradition as best we can and give the weapons back to their church once we can" he said to all
Just as swords are generally kept in the hands of the living, it is rare for worshipers to be buried in armor. Most faithful who are wealthy enough to own armor usually bequeath it to close relatives or their favorite temples so that it may find use in the goddess's name even after they are gone.
edit
just saw i missed this
Bakji, you realize these are evil cultists of Baphomet disguising themselves as crusaders. Aleziella, the DC was 15 because it is a demon lord cult instead of a main god.
but as Bakji has not said anything to us about it ill sick with what i said
Korak The Boisterous |
but as Bakji has not said anything to us about it ill sick...
Yeah, but Xantrius is kind of shouting it out while I try to convince him that the presence of the symbol itself isn't enough to brand them as heretics. After all, he himself is now holding it, does that make him evil?
Aleziella Libuyaza |
I wonder why Kothar doesn't get a roll. Also Korak I don't think your argument holds much water. No crusaders of Iomedae would go around clutching an unholy symbol in battle.
Bakji the Vanguard |
Bakji recoiled when he heard what Xantrius said. "I...I did not expect this to be, was I blind in my faith of the people of my church? Let me see that symbol more clearly." he said before snatching it up and inspecting it closely. He did in fact see that it was the unholy symbol of the beast. He stood there shocked for a moment as he looked at the bodies he had so carefully stripped and had a look of revulsion upon his face.
"To think that he would get his grips even upon those sworn to Iomedae...This is a chilling thing to think, no Aleziella they are not children of Iomedae. Forgive my earlier outburst...do what you will with their gear. I will not serve any rights to the wicked." he said before shaking his head and moving with renewed hatred towards the opposition.
Kothar Kreedan |
Kothar didn't get a roll because, according to his character sheet, he does not have Knowledge (religion). Korak, the way he was holding it, makes it fairly apparent that he was using it as a divine focus.
um yes i do i have a skill point in it and its in my skills for both pf my classes...
JasonX |
I just went to your profile page again and in your statistics tab, under the skills header, knowledge religion is not listed.

Kothar Kreedan |
Oh i see what you did your looking at the spot for my dragon Deinonychus lol maybe i should combine her spoilers or make a profile for it
Xantrius |
Unless someone wishes to wear the armor, Xantrius gathers it together in a bundle wrapped up with the cultists' cloaks. He slings it over his shoulder so that he can drop it should there be need to fight and lets the rest of the group decide who is going to take the potion, scroll and gold.
Turning to their guides he asks "Is your village far?"
