(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

I've discovered the secret of the good rolls - make a description so badass that a bad roll would make it look totally ridiculous, then roll blindly :)

Sorry Chainmail, as you've noticed I am unable to keep up with posting here as well. I look at the 66 new posts as being a step too far, about 50 steps actually.
If you haven't already done so, Neji should bow out of the game, probably due to VD.

Qadira (Tentatively Human AD&D 1e Thief)

Well, I am sad to see you depart. I suspect most of the posts were fluff not so much crunch. I peek and post whenever I can and limiting myself to only one PBP, it is rather easy; but if you must bow out, no hard feelings. We'll just have to play a wee bit smarter.

Good luck!

(Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99)

See ya. I am a little side to see you go, and I think Brask will be a good deal sadder to see Neji leave.

Definitely Neji's power will be missed at higher levels. Maybe another gnome sorceror can be found. Until then, Neji may be less 'wild'.

(Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99)

Since the party's heavy on fighters and light on arcane, would you be adverse to me switching Brask out for someone that can bring some arcane power to the group.

Actually, Brask is a fixture now. He is not replaceable. I am sure we can easily get another gnome sorceror.

(Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99)

Okay. That's fine with me.

Not like the old days of pen/paper where we could just hand over the character sheet, eh? Luckily no one here has a red shirt.

(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

The humans will be appalled at the dwarves' sudden lack of fashion. You'll be missed, Neji.

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

Good Luck Neji and hopefully things calm down for you and you can get back to PbP some day.

That being said, Chainmail is gong to try and kill 1 of us now as he was hoping their would be more deaths than departures in this campaign. At least I thought he said that at one point early on.

I think I have grown soft. Players are hard to come by, so I don't want to lose the good ones.

(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

Didn't the barbarian chief specifically mentioned to bring him the necklace, or am I mixing things up? I guess he won't be very happy to see us back, if so.

yes he did. maybe he didn't realize what he was asking for.

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

I don't think he asked for it whole and in 1 piece just that it was brought back to him.

(HP: 22/22 AC 20/13/17: F+3, R +6, W+4, Per:+9, Init: +3 Arrows: 23)

Thank you God for loop holes!

(Dogar and Khaladon here)

If yer still looking, I gots one 'ere for ya.

Kibblepep Sparkle Eye's the name, kickin' butt n finding treasure is mah game.

(very) Short History:
Kib was the offspring of Gnomish traders who often brought their child along on their forays into Dwarven territory. They noticed quickly that their child seemed unusually comfortable around their bigger, bearded kin, so eventually, they began leaving the child behind, thinking it would be a good way for them to eventually have a good (more profitable) 'in' with the Dwarves. The Dwarves took the Gnome child in but Kib's parents plan never quite worked out as more and more the boy began to consider himself more Dwarf than Gnome. And while he did develop a talent for crafting the gems and jewelry after which he was named, he never showed much interest his parents' profession. Eventually Kib disowned himself from his parents and they stopped coming by that particular Dwarven hold. As it stands now, he hasn't seen any of his blood family for years. He never thinks twice about it, having fully involved himself with his new Dwarven 'family'.

Kibblepep looks good -- is concentration modified by CON or CH?
Read the gameplay to date to make sure this is the right kind of PbP for you and if you want in you will be inserted at the first opportunity.

As a matter of fact, you will have knocked at the front door and have been admitted during the night.

Just cut and paste this into your first post in gameplay or modify it to the first person if you want.

After being hastily dispatched from the dwarven stronghold Sparkle Eye is personally escorted by a burly but agile dwarven tracker to catch up with the group. After repeated knocking at night and a friendly exchange of dwarven conversation, the front doors are doors unwedged and opened. The dwarven tracker has to urgently escort Neji back, but a replacement is provided. Neji hands Sparkle Eye two flasks of acid and a wand with a single charge left.

Hmm, actually I'm not sure, was just going by what HeroLab had?

And I've been following the game since ya started mate, just waiting for my chance. So hell ya ready to get some good Dwarven gaming in. (Even if I'm not playing a Dwarf. Especially as this particular Gnome thinks he Is one anyway ; )

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

Hon let me know if you want Kragg to open the door once we have the numbers dialed in. You have evasion, but Kragg has a good fort save. Your choice. Either way I would recommend that everyone else not be on the landing in case something should go wrong.

option 1: 14, 15, 8, 22, 100

option 2: 14, 15, 21, 22, 100

I will try option 1 if that is the direction you all want to go with first and then try option 2 later if I survive.

[welcome]Or we could just have kibibblepep try since he is the new guy [/welcome]

Ha! He may not be the brightest firefly in the jar, but he isn't quite that dim either. Oh, and if he gets a vote, Kib would go with option 2 as his first choice.

Oh, and Chainmail, I had still wanted to pick up some gear for Kib but I kept forgetting to ask how much gp he was starting with. If it's still possible, I'd like to add a few things for him. If not, no worries.

(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

Sorry for the lack of RP in my previous post, it was made from a mobile phone, as I was trying to save the group from the imminent doom.

I vote 14, 15, blank, 22, 100.

Incidentally, I think Khazad has got the second highest INT score in the group :)

Welcome, Kib! It's nice we've got no shortage of arcane power. What would the dwarves do without you tiny lot :)

I suspect 2 pounds of pull would not work on the switch but I bet 25# would. If not, then it doesn't. We go back down the stairs and put in some weight into the backpack. Try again. Risk reduction and perserverance.

Ah, ok, thanks for the catch Chainmail. Sheet is fixed.

And kudos to you too Hon! You're idea is an even better improvement, sans mage hand anyway. That's what i call teamwork!

EDIT: Hey! Crap, my whole list of items never got saved?? Dang it, I'll have to do it again tomorrow. But that's strange though, how did you know I'd put down the wand of magic missile by mistake Chainmail?

15pt buy, avg gold, Max HP and ONLY THE CORE RULEBOOK

Grabbed this from the original thread.

Didn't know about the magic missile wand, just knew it would come up when you did your reading through the threads.

Neji had a masterwork item you can have too, it may have been a crossbow.

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

Chainmail please correct me if I am wrong, but I have a str of 18. I am carrying 89lbs of equipment plus hammers. If I lose the hammers and round up to 100 that leaves my carrying capacity at 200lbs remaining. Dragging a load multiplies it by 5. Would Kragg be able to drag 1000 lbs of stuff with him then? Basicaly wondering if he could just drag the chests instead of emtpying them. Each chest's contents weigh 80 lbs (just the first 5 chests) not counting the chest itself. Could Kragg drag 6+ of the chests by himself if needed??

I was brought along originally to haul stuff.

You could drag close to it. I think you were technically brought along to carry a few bandoliers of axes or 'hump some stuff' and learn. Now that you are experienced and blooded, I think Kragg is at full party member status.

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

That may be, but I am still probably the best at draggin the chest with the str of 18. Plus, if all I do is drag them, I can drop the rope and not be encoumbered if we meet enemies (barbarians outside the door).

(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

If we have enough rope and containers, I can be the second mule with a strength of 17.
All the shiny loot got me excited. Apart from the full plate and a cloak, I'd like to call dibs on one of the two-handed weapons. Kragg will probably want the other one, do you have any preference (maul or greataxe)?
The tower shield got me puzzled. As I'm the only one who can use it, I'm tempted to, but when I read the rules on tower shields I can't help but think they suck. The only use I see is blocking a narrow spot while enlarged.

Tower shields are +4 to AC and -2 to hit. So you get mini combat reflexes in an item. With two obviously superior two handed weapons, though, why use it? Thograt could take a dip of fighter and use the tower shield and half plate with a magic waraxe. With the favored weapon being a waraxe--his bonus from the war domain would become weapon focus waraxe instead of just waraxe proficiency from the war domain.

+1 Tower shield and half plate = AC23 from those items alone if my calculations are correct.

There is good stuff here and treasure to make up much of the difference for those who can't use the better items. I think Brask and Thograt can help decide how it gets divided.

Hon's hold poses problems putting a price on too. But if it was already his, does it count against his treasure share? An interesting question.

The armor size issue Just came up in one of my other threads. Here were a couple posts on it:

(From Paizo/SRD)"Size and Magic Items When an article of magic clothing or jewelry is discovered, most of the time size shouldn't be an issue. Many magic garments are made to be easily adjustable, or they adjust themselves magically to the wearer. Size should not keep characters of various kinds from using magic items.

There may be rare exceptions, especially with race-specific items.

Armor and Weapon Sizes: Armor and weapons that are found at random have a 30% chance of being Small (01–30), a 60% chance of being Medium (31–90), and a 10% chance of being any other size (91–100)."

(And an opinion)
My personal house rule is that you CAN resize magic armor with a craft (armor) check, with a difficulty penalty set by the DM.

Hope that helps?

PS And wow, Spade of Colossal Exacavation?? That's a Waaay back item! I don't think that's been around since 1st addition, has it? But then, probably only old-timers like us remember it anyway ; )

Had the time, decided to put together a list:

Spyglass Hold- Hon? Magnum?
Hammer Artifact- Magnum?(Do we have a name for it Chainmail?)

+3 Maul- Kragg
+2 Corrosive Burst Greataxe- Khazad?
Spade of Colossal Excavation
Four daggers? -Kib?,
Mithral shirt?
Staff of Earth & Stone- Kib?
2 Quivers of +3 arrows- Khazad?,
Quiver of Human Bane arrows
Repeating crossbow? -Hon?

4 Cloaks Elvenkind- Hon?, Kragg?, Brask?, Magnum?
8 +1 Cloaks of Resistance- Khazad, Kragg, Kib, Brask, Thorgrat, Hon, Ninni, Magnum, Big Mug (Need one more cloak...)
+1 Mithral chain mail- Kragg?
+1 Mithril shirt
+1 Full plate- Khazad
+1 Urgosh- Kragg?
+1 Dwarven war axe
+1 Dwarven war axe
Wand ?
Wand ?
+1 Heavy metal shield- Khazad?
+1 Heavy metal shields- Kragg?
+1 Tower shield
2 Potions Cats Grace- Khazad?,
2 Potions Bull Strength- Khazad?,
2 Potions Gaseous Form- Kib?,
2 Potions Dragon's Breath=acid- Kib?,
2 Potions Rage
20 Scroll cases ?
Two spell books ?

Chests 1 & 2= 8,000sp
Chests 3 & 4= 8,000gp
Chest 5= 2,000pp, 5 bars of volcanic glass?, 5 bars of mithril, 5 bars of a steel alloy?, 5 bars of dark black metal?
Chest 6= (20 scroll cases?) and two wizard spell books?
Chest 7= holds a master alchemists set and (ten potions)

So, looks like we still need the Hammer, 4 daggers, More powerful Mithral Shirt, Repeating Crossbow, Wands and Scrolls? identified.

The Question marks after the names indicate ownership hasn't been approved yet by Brask or Thorgrat. No question mark indicates there's enough for everyone, approved by the leaders or the item can only be used by that person anyway.

Funny enough I had originally planned on giving Kibblepep Craft Alchemy skill and Potion Feat but went with Jeweler instead, just cuz of his name. D'oh!

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

Going by what people can use I would recommend everyone get a cloak of resistance and Khazad get the full plate. If Thograt takes a level of fighter than he should get the tower shield. Kib would get the caster items. If we are maintaining a scouting group, then the scout group would get the cloaks of elven kind. The rest we would then have to divide up amongst ourselves for wants.

I have a change to my wish list: second choice would be enough adamantine and gp to create an adamantine breastplate instead of the mithral chainmail. Will wait for others to chime in before I go on.

I'm probably going to go with Cleric lvl 3 as its a good step up in abilities. 2d6 channel energy and 2nd lvl spells. I might take the proficiency though. One of those wands wouldn't happen to be a CLW would it?

Hon purses his lips and fingers the mithril shirt. hmmmmm. This would be nice, as often as I find myself in combat... I'll call dibs on repeating crossbow but I only have the heavy crossbow now just to try it out. It ain't working as well as I'd hope. A repeating crossbow might be a wee bit more functional but I still have trouble hitting for some reason. One of the elven cloaks would certainly be appreciative in my line of work. A gasous potion is the ultimate in getting out of a bad no escape situation. A little wand action from an unexpected quarter can do wonders for changing a battle. So to summarize:
1)Cloak of elvenkind
2)Cloak of resistance
3) Repeating crossbow
4)Potion of Gaseousness, hopefully not flatulance
5) Wand of something
6)Mitril shirt (AC modifiers not withstanding)
7) Any duplicate scroll not useful for our esteemed leader Thograt or Sparkler here.

As for the DarkOwl hold, much as I'd love a personal abode to start a clan of my own, I am much too young to settle down. Lets establish ownership and let this serve as an ambassadorial outpost and expansion foothold under lease by the rightfold hier, under my clan name. I'll charge a token fee to make all official-like.

He sits down and starts emptying equipment not immediately useful for trip back and easily replaceable. Making room for just enough gear to make a fast run to the dwarven hold, they'll need a stronger and bigger presence to solidify position.

Ya, was gonna mention and since Hon has now brought it up...unless we completely eliminate the Barbarians or make some killer diplomacy rolls, I highly doubt we'd just be able to drag several chests full of a king's ransom willy nilly through the land. And after the barbarians are the bandits. Yup, nope, fast run it is methinks.

PS. Ha! Sparkler. I see those two are going to get along swimmingly alright!

This was supposed to be posted in gameplay. Will do so now. For a minute I thought the Postmonster ate it.

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

Just noticed up above on Kib's list, but are we including Magnum in the rest of the loot if he is putting claim to the hold even if it is in Hon's name and if he has the hammer? That would solve the problem of the cloak of protection being 1 short.

Unfortunately there is not much for Ninni outside of potions and gold. That might prove a problem.

Also if we don't want items are we able to sell them back home or not?

(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

Recommended wealth by lvl 3 is 3000gp, NPCs get half that. There are 7 PCs plus 2 NPCs ~ 25K gp. I think this treasure hoard is about 15x over this amount, what with a minor artifact and +4 weapons, enough for APL 9 at least. I shudder to think what kind of enemies Chainmail has in store for us now o_0

It also means I don't have to hand out wealth for a while.
Once Brask decides what everyone is taking and what is staying behind, you are off to the seedy black market of the capital where everything and everyone is for sale.

Plus the greatest dwarven thief of all time couldn't have left APL 3 stuff behind.

Shh Khazad! Lol

I actually figured we had been given so much so that most of it could be given to stonecrusher...

Ok so, how are we dividing up the loot? Are we doing it the 1)whatever value of the item you have gets counted against yoyr share or 2) just divide the items and then evenly split the cash?

Also, I definitely think we should let the dwarves but the spade and the staff, and most of the metals, assuming we're not keeping those two things for ourselves.

Oh, and agree with Kragg, Magnum not getting anything other than the hammer (and maybe the elevn cloak) solves the problem of noit enough cloaks of resistance. And anyway his hammer is worth way more than all our shares and then some.

Guess Brask is away for the weekend?

Also, just curious Chainmail, but do the Elves also have a similar loot cache, but just haven't found it yet?
Plus: Yeah! The Dwarves are winning already! Heh heh

I actually have a +1 resistance bonus from the protection domain so other than look pretty (not high on Thograts list of priorities) the cloak of resistance is not gonna do anything for me. Cloak of the elvenkind is not really needed by me either. So that should solve the cloak problem.

You can check out the main thread. All the elf spoilers are supposed to be there.
Standard dwarven treasure division guidelines is items taken only count against your share at resale value. For example, choosing the +1 urgosh costs you 2025gp=.5x4050 of your share (+1 double weapon costs base +4000gp).
Choosing the greataxe should cost .5x(32000+20)=16010gp. Money can be used to make up the difference when everyone is done and after items not used are sold. The four dagger each run about the same as well as the maul.
The mithral shirt would be a relative bargain at .5x17000=8500gp.
Totally epic treasure finds probably were not planned for in 'the dwarven treasure splitting rules'. The leader, Brask, gets final say.

(Male Dwarf Fighter 3)

So far by Dwarven rules Khazad's wishlist counts for ~24K gp.

I think where there are no conflicts in the wishlists, the items should be given to those who request them, because it serves towards the benefit of the party. When there is a conflict, the item should go towards a person with the otherwise lowest equipped value.

Dwarves should definitely get the ores, since we know they use them to trade with humans. Not quite sure about the spade and staff - I think we might end up in a situation when they would be handy, but at the same time the clan can also put it to good use - say, dig a tunnel from the main hold to the Dark Owl outpost.

(HP: 22/22 AC 20/13/17: F+3, R +6, W+4, Per:+9, Init: +3 Arrows: 23)

Sorry, busy weekend and it's going to get worse because I have a test Wednesday.

I'll try and have something up later tonight, but don't be surprised if I drop off the radar for a few days.

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

I don't know if it will make a difference, but what is the value of the different metal bars or are they needed to create the different material weapons and armor. Basically was looking at figuring the sell value of all the items so we know the approximate allotment for each person. That way you might get an item of the equivalent price but not the actual gp. You would then sell the item and purchase what you want. Those that sell items are going to be behind by total value, but make up for that by having the exact items they want.

For example, if we would each get 13750gp of items, then I would take the ugrosh (2000gp sell value), cloak of elven kind (1250gp value), cloak of resistance (500gp value), and gp or items worth 10000 so I could get my armor that I want.

Once I know the value of the bars, spellbooks, and the shovel, I will have that computer tomorrow. A couple of values will be included if, as a group, we decide to hold onto the shovel.

Either way the hammer and the hold are not included.

Also need to know if Magnum is included or not. Leaning towards not since he will have the hold and the hammer. I will be including a share for Big Mug but that can decided and divided out later if need be.

Ok more numbers
Two Spellbooks can be sold for 2500gp each
Spade can be sold for 4500gp
Maul can be sold for 12305gp (it is in the PRD)
Bars are hundred weight (100 coins = 2 pounds)
Bars of steel alloy can be sold for 250gp each
Bars of mithril can be sold for 500gp each
Bars of glass material can be sold for 750 gp each
Bars of black material can be sold for 1000 gp each

(Male Battle dwarf (+2 str, -2 dex, +2 con) Ranger 3)

Thanks Chainmail. That helps, but still wondering if we can purchase adamantine or mithral items if we do not keep the bars or are we forced to keep them and use them for crafting later?
