"Ah, perhaps I came on too strong, my apologies. It's difficult for me to speak to pretty girls sometimes. Feel free to return to your friends, but thank you for humoring me."

If the young woman takes her leave of him at his opening, Troxell retreats to the rose garden to try to distract himself from all the awkwardness.

Once Myhm has eaten as much as allowed or possible, which ever arrives first, he heads outside and walks about the area. For the moment, he felt safe and calm, much like at Bixen's Grotto. Hmm, cider. He set out in search for a treat.

Myhm and Shane grab drinks as Troxell hangs his head and retreats to the rose garden.

***

In the rose garden...

A wide path leads to a maze of thick, ten-foot-tall hedges with songbirds nesting within them. A few wedding guests stand at the entrance, with one or two occasionally venturing into the maze to explore the flower gardens and statuary inside.

Sitting away from other guests on one of the benches with his face in his hands is Tenzekil.

***

Meanwhile Teena continues chatting with Lumi...

"Yeah.. I suppose so." Lumi looks around as if worried Tenzekil might return. When she looks back at Teena, she cocks her head curiously. "I've never met a woman like you before. Are you fey? Do all your people have eyes of different color?"

Before Teena gets the chance to answer Mairel returns to the tent and hurries over to Lumi.

"Are you sure elves are part of the sidhe?" She asks Lumi with wide eyes. "Because that one who bid on my crumblecake gave me the shivers. Asking all sorts of questions... I think he might have been trying to mesmerize me somehow, because I swear I felt a little light-headed."

Passing by the spurned younger fellow in the rose garden, Troxell feels the need to offer some unsolicited advice, "Cheer up, fellow. There's bigger concerns in this world than the affections of one young lady. It would appear there are plenty of fine girls of marriageable age in this village. Although I am curious, why her?"

Teena recognizes the girl that she had seen Troxell talking to after the bids. "Ah, you've met Troxell. Don't let him worry you....he's a good sort. I don't think he's had too much experience around women, at least with the courting process, you know," Teena says with a smile. "I've traveled with him for weeks, and trust me, there's nothing untowards with him. You might want to give him another shot."

Myhm offers a friendly nod to Revas.

Teena attempts a little damage control on behalf of Troxell, but the girl doesn't seem interested in giving him a second chance. "I'm sorry, but you are all strangers, and quite odd ones."

***

Tenzekil looks up at Troxell and wipes a few tears from red-rimmed eyes. "You. You're the one who made things worse. All I needed was some time alone with her, to explain, to..." He stops short, catching his words. Standing suddenly, he brushes by Troxell and stomps away. "You'll regret it. All of you."

Troxell finds himself suddenly startled by a bee buzzing very close to his face. It harries him for a few moments, darting close to his eyes, then around his head before flying off into the roses.

***

Revas pours a couple drinks for Myhm and Shane. "That I have! Wealthy friends you have, master Shane. You just missed the biggest bid I've ever seen for a bridesmaid's dessert basket."

"Well, I'm glad we helped you out of a sticky situation then, Lumi. Good luck in your endeavors.". She gets up and heads to find the rest of her friends.

While surprised at Troxell's suddenly aggressive tone, Tenzekil's expression quickly becomes a sneer. "I have witnessed the terrors of the forest." He gives a short laugh and shakes his head. "Elves don't scare me. Go back to Lumi, or go to hell. I don't care. Just go away."

He turns his back and pushes through a hedge.

With that, Troxell stops following him, suspecting nothing good would come out of continuing the conversation at the moment. If Tenzekil doesn't respond, he returns to the party to find his companions.

Tenzekil tosses one last glare at Troxell, but does not stay around to argue.

You spend the next hour slowly wandering the festival grounds, learning bits and pieces about the bride and groom, as well as the people of the town.

The groom, Elyin, is a member of a group called the Foresthawks, who act as guardians and rangers in the local lands. A few members of the group also mingle among the festival goers, having returned to the village to celebrate with their companion.

The bride, Kailah Winmede has her own large circle of friends, and as the daughter of the local apothecary, she seems to know everyone in town.

The local Skald, a man by the name of Parmis Salsby, oversees the music and entertainment for the wedding here. Always on the move, Parmis is splitting his time between the dance area, the horseshoe tournament (which he has mostly entrusted to the local blacksmith Halak Klent), and slipping away to the food tent to refresh himself with more of Benwold’s honeymead. As a lifelong friend of Elyin, he volunteered for the job but it is obvious that he has become overwhelmed by the sheer number of guests.

Of particular note is the little chapel near the rose garden. Built by the people of Cairllen’s Crossing 5 years ago, it is dedicated to an old god of beauty and art named Shelyn. Inside, the main altar portrays a life-sized statue of the love goddess, Shelyn, with a songbird perched upon her outstretched hand. The chapel is also the home to Viviana Albercroft, a priestess of Shelyn who will perform the ceremony to wed Elyin and Kailah. In the chapel’s adjoining chamber, a solarium filters sunlight through an expensive stained-glass ceiling imported from Varisia. Currently, the room also has a collection point for wedding gifts intended for the bridge and groom.

"This certainly is the nicest spot I've seen in this territory. A lot nicer than that awful festival for instance. And there seem to be some experienced travelers in the crowd, too. After spending some time catching up with those he knows in town and reveling in the fact that a party is going on Shane will make his way back twords the others.

"Sorry folks i didnt quite know where we were until we got into town. I have been here before not to long ago and had to say hello to a few folks. Are we all enjoying ourselves?"

"Perhaps you should speak with them at length, Teena. You have quite a way with people," The druid suggests with a yawn before standing up and looking towards to the chapel, "I am not really enjoying myself, no, Shane. Although I paid too much for some local dessert if your hungry and Myhm hasn't eaten it already. If you'll excuse me, I believe I'll take a closer look at the chapel, when does this ceremony start anyway?"

As that final question was mostly rhetorical, Troxell doesn't wait for an answer before making his way to the chapel, greeting the priestess if she's not currently busy.

Troxell finds Viviana pacing inside, a scroll pressed against a book in one hand and a pen in the other. Upon noticing a visitor, she stops and meets his eyes with a pleasant smile. "A beautiful day to you, sir."

"Greetings, madame, and a good day to you as well." Troxell says with a pleasant enough nod, "Quite a day for a wedding, I suppose. The weather is quite nice. My companions and I are merely passing through on our way to Marascar and coincidentally ended up attending the wedding festivities. Since my companions decided to stick around and watch, I find myself nervously wandering the grounds. I'm much more comfortable in the forests."

Egads, I despise having to make small talk.

Troxell notices the priestess glance at his ears, the most telltale sign of his elven heritage. "Elves are rare here in the Wildlands. I can count the number I've met on one hand, and all had unusual tales for how they came to be here. I can only imagine yours is such as well, and though I would like to hear it, I must admit that I am putting the last few touches on the words I plan to say at the ceremony. Have you heard of Shelyn? Few remember her, but by the grace of her beauty, I hope to remind. You are free to wander the Chapel here and look upon her symbols, and be comforted by her love for all."

Is Teena approaching the Foresthawks or merely suggesting the idea?

Sorry, DM...long day. Failed my Will save at work.

Teena walks up toward the gathered group of Foresthawks at Troxell's suggestion. "Greetings all. I apologize for crashing your party, but my friends and I are new to the area, so to speak. You all seem to know your way around this place. Do any of you have any idea the best course to Marascar? My friends and I need to find that place."

I would be happy to swap a tale with you about my journey for one of your own if you can spare the moment." Troxell offers, attempting to feel out the human woman's nature.

"I have some passing familiarity with your goddess, yes. Although, I am curious why Shelyn would grace this particular village, are there artists and craftsmen that do work here? Perhaps Shelyn is the preeminent goddess for the humans that live here?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Teena finds the Foresthawks very helpful. Though they tend to stay within a day or two of Cairlen's Crossing, most have traveled quite a bit throughout the Wildland Coast and might be convinced to guide your group to the remains of the northern road that passes near a place called Whiterose Abby.

Diplomacy check here for Teena and anyone else involved with the Foreshawks. Also, how much did Teena tell them about where your group has been traveling?

"I know the common tales of the Feralwood and the Wildland Coast, but I am afraid I don't have the time for them right now." She holds up her scroll. "This is the ceremony for our young couple, and I have a few last touches to make it more personal. If you really want stories, Parmis Salsby knows far more."

Changing subject to her goddess, she smiles. "Cairlen's Crossing is not known for its art or craftsmen, but few places in the Wildlands are. Glenfarg was the most civilized place, and had potential, but Baron Armag Twice-born cares little for such things. In a town like this Shelyn has a chance to grow in the hearts of the people, and perhaps in a generation her influence will grow as well."

Troxell feels she is speaking honestly.

Teena's chat with the Foresthawks goes well, and once the festivities are over they promise to guide your group to the northern road.

Myhm has great luck grabbing fish from the stream, earning squeals of joy from the children on the small bridge. Mikmik laughs as he splashes about, grabbing a few fish of his own, and eventually even the dour Xerexis steps down to the water with a fishing line as well. Within a half-hour they have gathered over a dozen fish, and the children have taken turns running them over to Revis to fry up. For the first time in a long time, Myhm feels like he has eaten a fresh full meal.

Shane's stories make many eyes go round with wonder, and soon enough the villagers have begun to hold your strange group in high regard as travelling heroes.

As Troxell begins wandering the grounds in search of Parmis Salsby, a sudden swell of music announces the bride and groom’s approach and the beginning of the ceremony. Kailah and Elyin emerge from the chapel of Shelyn with the priestess Viviana by their side. Bridesmaids and musicians follow behind. Guests immediately gather in the amphitheater at the center of the grove. Once the procession reaches the gazebo, Viviana announces a song about unexpected love from Shelyn’s Melodies of Inner Beauty. She nods briefly to the musicians for accompaniment and starts to sing.

With Troxell's concerns still fresh in mind about Tenzekil, you all take notice of a couple bees aggressively circling Viviana.

Before you can do anything one roiling mass of insects has descended into the area at the front of the amphitheater stinging furiously at a pair of Foresthawks standing in as Elyin's groomsmen and Elyin's mother and father who sit in the front row seats. The second swarm gathers about the other side, stinging the bridesmaids and Kailah's parents. Elyin's and Kailah's mothers scream and collapses with stings on their face and arms. At Shane's urging, and Teena's firm insistence, the crowds are quickly organized and sent running towards the stream. Meanwhile, Troxell steps back and begins a spell while Myhm drags Mariel from danger. Mikmik helps direct a few children away from danger and Xerexis pushes through the chaos to get closer.

The Foresthawks flail their arms at the bees, trying to protect their eyes and mouths, but the constant stings prevent them from doing anything but stumble blindly away. Sending Kailah ahead, Elyin grabs his unconscious mother and drags her a short distance down the aisle. His father, suffering like the Foresthawks, staggers after. The Priestess Viviana stays with him and channels energy to heal the wounded woman, and she begins to regain consciousness, but the swarm follows, stinging mother, father, Elyin, and the priestess.

The other flies after Myhm and Mariel.

Nauseated:
Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.

DM, is there any way I can move and get a Burning Hands spell off without hurting any of the wedding goers in the blast? Keeping in mind I have extra movement from Haste active? If so, that is Teena's plan. If not, she will Intomidate again, hoping to clear the innocents out of the way.

Burning Hands damage 5d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 3, 3) = 15
Reflex DC 18 for half damage

Troxell finishes casting his spell and an air mephit appears to the northwest of Shane. "Blow the swarm away!" The druid orders and the creature immediately casts a Gust of Wind spell to disperse the swam still plaguing those caught in the center.

The swarm needs to make a DC 25 fly check or be blown back 2d6 × 10 feet and take 2d6 points of damage. Everyone else medium sized will need to make a DC 25 Str check if they want to move towards the wind. Small creatures are knocked prone. The spell mentions there's a Fortitude Save, but I'm not sure what the DC is, it's probably 14 if it's a Charisma based ability for the mephit.
