Is this like betting blind? Call out a coordinate even before the map is posted? What happens if we get in the middle of a wall? ;-D
San tries to keep his eyes peeled for traps ... perception 1d20+10
San:
Vilya the Taker |
San stops short, grabbing Iz by the sleeve. "Hold up. Crack in the floor there," he says, pointing down the hallway. "Vilya? You're on."
Vilya creeps slowly up to the possible trap, inspecting the area carefully.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Ten Foot Twin Eater |
Ten Foot lets out a little giggle as he imagines creeping up behind Vilya and yelling "Boo!".
He looks around for who has heard and smiles sheepishly, his head nearly touching the ceiling.
4 minute duration on Enlarge, trap detection will use up a minute shall we say?
He moves over to one of the skeletal remains while he waits and checks it over.

It's a pit trap, covers the whole floor, but Vilya is able to shim it to keep it from triggering. As long as no one jumps up and down on it, it should hold ..

The minute sounds good
The skeleton Ten looks at is dressed in the rags of once-fine robes. Its rusty sword, still scabbarded, has a nice gold and gem-studded hilt

"How did you miss this 'shiney'" he asks Vilya, emphasising the word 'shiney', as he draws it from the rusty weapon from the scarab. "Maybe there is loot on them all?" he muses out loud, as he moves over to the next one to check that as well.

Last I knew, the sword was in a scabbard, not a giant bug.
Vilya steps back and waits for the inevitable skeletal reanimation and/or exploding cursed shiny sword.

Initiatives Round one:
Skelly's: 15 [attacking]
Joleesa 13
Izkrael 9
Egan 8
Vilya 8
Sanvoros 7
Seven Eagle 7 [bardchant +1 atk/dam/charm/fear]
Tobias 7
Ten 6
Several skeletons leap out from the side passages, swinging their finely-wrought swords. The front four target Iz and San
Attacks:
San:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 101d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The six others whirl their slings and fire stones at the party members in reach:
Attacks:
Ten:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Jo:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Egan:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Iz:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
San:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 131d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The two skeletons on San score deep cuts on him, as does one of the ones on Iz. The slingstones zip down the corridor, hitting Egan, Ten and Iz with dull thwacks.
Batter up!
Tobias Marshalsea |
"Joleesa, Ten, go, uh, circle around to their flanks or something!", exclaims Tobias as he fires a ray of energy at the undead.
Man, we just keep fighting hoards of angry undead, don't we? At least this one doesn't have an angry shaman with it. Disrupt Undead: 1d20 + 4 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 + 2 = 51d6 ⇒ 6

Yeah, this area is pretty undead heavy. The Xoltects used undead as their servitors, and there are still a buttload left in the Jungle of Skulls. One reason why there are no plantations or mining concerns this far out
Ten Foot Twin Eater |
Ten Foot is now Large due to his Enlarge spell.
"How nice of them all to gather so my god can blast them," Ten Foot bellows, his voice carrying a little louder than normal due to his increased size.

Dungeon Monkey |
BAM!
Well, uhh ..dayum ..
Ten steps forward, his birthmark glowing brightly on his enlarged body. A wave of bright energy arcs out blasting the collection of skeletons into ivory dust. Their weapons clatter to the ground as silence reigns again.
Umm, OK, that pretty much did it for that battle O.o
Sanvoros Draben |
"Bastards!" San yells as the skeletons' blades cut him deeply. He reaches back and brings his sword forward in a crushing ark ... only to swipe empty air as the bonebags disintegrate in front of him. "Dammit, Ten! Now what fun am I going to have?" he jokingly yells. "Say, got anything like that which could close up a few of these gashes?"
Ten Foot Twin Eater |
"Sure I can tiny man," Ten yells down at San, "my god is a benevolent lord."
Channel Energy to heal wounds:
Channel Positive Energy: 3(base) +1(chr) +2(Extra turning) = 6 per day[/url] DC-12, HP-4d6 (+2d6 from Phylactery of Positive Energy) USED=1
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 3) = 13
Izkrael |
"Of course." izkrael advances again keeping an eye out for anymore assailants.
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

If undead are perceivable, +2 on these Perception checks above.

OK, IZ and Egan in front, yes?
The party continues on down the central corridor. There seem to be no more pit traps in evidence, in fact, there are no doors for a fairly long stretch. Every 100 feet or so the hallway slopes downwards sharply. The party gets the feeling they are heading deep underground.
After what seems to be a good half kilometer of walking, the tunnel opens out into a vast natural chasm. The roof is shrouded in darkness, but judging from the faint echoes it must be fairly high up. A faint sound of water comes from far below.
The hallway becomes a bridge spanning the chasm. It looks as if there once was some sort of railing, but over time the wooden posts have rotted away, leaving only decayed slivers in the circular post holes. The bridge itself is stone, looking almost natural, as if the Xoltecs worked it from an existing formation.
Actions? I'll post a map tonight, hopefully
Joleesa Morvais |
Joleesa makes her way with great haste around the back and down the right hand corridor so she can come at the Skeletons from the side she reaches R20. Once she gets there however, she finds nothing but dust and she looks over at Ten, knowing that this was his handywork and giving him a smile.
She then continues on down the corridor with the others, staying to the rear to protect them in case something decides to attack from behind.
Once they reach the chasm she lets out a low whistle and joins Ten to peer over the edge into darkness.

Sigh. Oh mad impetuous Jolessa ....
Jolessa speeds down the side corridor, looking to flank the skeleton horde. As she sprints down the hallway a section of it swings away under her feet At P-Q 22-23.
Make me a Reflex check Jo. We'll assume you folks haven't moved on to the chasm bridge scene.

Oh crap I forgot about the trap in the other corridor...

Sigh
It seems it isn't just the dice rollers that hate me. I had Pen & Paper D&D last night and my Character died. In 2 hours I rolled two d20 dice over 8 (and this was in battle, so there were quite a few Attacks and Spell Saves to be rolled). One was an 11 and still missed and the other was an 18 and all that did was mean that I didn't confirm a Critical Fumble. I seem to have really good luck whenever I have to roll up a Character's Stats but lousy luck when I'm actually playing. :(
Dungeon Monkey |
Jolessa tumbles down a 20-foot shaft. At the bottom several rusty spikes await her
Man that's harsh
1d4 ⇒ 2 spikes
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 201d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 31d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 131d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
And2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 falling damage.
Wow you got lucky ..
Fortunately Jolessa manages to evade one spike, but the second punches through her calf. Paradoxically, the spike prevents her from falling totally. She sustains only minor bruising from the fall.
Dungeon Monkey |
The group extracts Jo with a minimum of fuss. Ten's healing burst closes the painful puncture on her calf. Thus restored, the group heads on to their rendezvous with the chasm ..
We now return to the chasm ..
Ten lights a pebble with blue arcane fire and drops it down into the darkness. It tumbles about a hundred meters or so, then seems to stick on something, gleaming far below. It is hard to make out what it has landed on.
Tobias Marshalsea |
"Hey, would you three mind crouching so I can get some light to the other end of this bridge?" Tobias raises his crossbow and fires the Lighted shot towards the other end of the bridge.
Firing my crossbow with a lighted bolt as far down the bridge as I can. Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Joleesa Morvais |
Joleesa's cry as the spike pirces her calf can be heard echoing down the tunnels alerting the group to her predicament and earning her a quick release (and an even quicker scolding from the seasoned Egan for running off on her own). She returns to fing the Skeletons mere dust and bone fragments and thanks ten for his God's benefits, wincing a little as the gaping wound on her leg closes.
Once at the Chasm, she watches Tobias and Ten work their magic and attempts to see what their lights reveal.
Perception Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Sorry, quick post update ..
Tobias' bolt flies out and illuminates a long narrow bridge that ends at another wall, turning back into a tunnel. There is a small platform in the middle of the bridge, with something jumbled on it. The bolt smashes against the far wall and falls into the chasm, eventually disappearing into darkness.
The pebble that Ten threw seems to be on a ledge of some sort, it's hard to make out details that far down ..
