This is my homebrew world Arcaia. This particular setting is the free city of Opal, a lush equatorial city set on the edge of an immense jungle rife with undead , ancient civilizations, and dinosaurs.
Hey, we are trying to reboot Appalachee Jihad. Are you still interested in Sherman Tank? I might just do a bit of restructuring and get some fresh blood. Drop a line at the OOC if you are still interested.
Larcifer
Spoiler:
Are you still following this game Larcifer? If so, could you post up? Also, we are trying to reboot Appalachee Jihad. If you are still interested in working with E.V.A. let me know by dropping me a line in the OOC. I need to make a descision on your characters soon, and I just need to know if you are still into them or not.
Vilya's starting to have a system when it comes to dealing with large, angry reptiles. With an ear-piercing shriek, she springs from her hiding place. Vilya lands on the beast's back and drives her kukri into its gnarled flesh with both hands.
The critical threat range for that particular weapon is 18-20. If the confirmation roll is lower than the creature's AC, doesn't it still hit (albeit dealing normal damage)?

Egan the Hunter's bow is a +1 bow that gives you a +4 vs. your favored enemy
Tobias' arcane bolts strike true, as does Egan's arrow. The beast screeches and paws the air.
Iz darts forward and slices at the scaly beast

His attack carves a jagged furrow in the dino's hide
I'll give Seven a chance to post today, if not, then I'll DMPC him
I know the the damage on the standard arrows, just wondering about the explosive arrows, which is what I shot at the beast. I'm guessing I add +4 to whatever damage I roll for the Explosive arrows?
Ten Foot Twin Eater(Male Half Orc - Half Human- Half Something Else (I know that is 3 halves, but he is a big chap) Cleric Level 4)
Ten, now finally on his feet and axe in hand, charges across the area to close on the Dragon-Dinosaur, "You want a piece of me?" he bellows, but is made less impressive by his sleeping hat and gown.
I can charge 60' if there is a straight line and nothing or nobody in the way, or I can move 30'. I guess the dracosaur gets an attack of opportunity as I close, my AC is currently 11 (or 9 if I can charge)
"What the!?", Tobias exclaims as the lizard spits out a stream of acid. "Egan! You know how it did that?", he says as he sends more bolts of force at the thing.
Knowledge(Arcana), is there a magic excuse for it to vomit acid?1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Their guide Karl has taken the last few moments to light a torch, which he tosses at the beast. It bounces off the winged dino, but doesn't frighten it off.
Sorry forgot yer guide in all the commotion LOL
The dino bites at the large nightcapped annoyance that just carved a hunk out of him:
Bite on Ten1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
2d8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
It's fetid jaws spray him with acidic spittle as its fangs slice into his side.
It slashes at Karl with its two wings:
On the guide:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The razor-sharp claws score bloody furrows on their guide. Blood spurts from a severed artery
Seeing the guide go down, San decides discretion is NOT the way to go here. He'll take a move action to get in a flanking position by the dino-dragon thing, then activate his ring of piercing spells, and cast shocking grasp against the beast.
Defensive Casting 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Touch Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage (4d6+2d6) 6d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5, 6, 6, 4) = 29
EDIT: wow, I think I just used all of my dice-roller luck for the next month ...
Sorry, been arguing about the new dice roller. Don't really know why ...
The electricity arcs from San's hands and envelops the beast. It shrieks and jitters, one of its eyes bursting in a spray of ocular fluids. It falls to the ground with a resounding *THUD*
Egan rolls his eyes at his old friend/nemesis outburst. "We're sorry", he confides gently. "I promise you can take the next watch by yourself, so you can get the kill without worrying about us."
"Hey, if you want to kill something you can always go run around the jungle for a few hours. Hey, Ten, get over here and look at Karl's neck wound! We don't want our only guide to bleed to death!"
Ten Foot Twin Eater(Male Half Orc - Half Human- Half Something Else (I know that is 3 halves, but he is a big chap) Cleric Level 4)
Ten foot rushes to tend to the fallen, calling on the power of his god to heal them.
Wheezy is wounded, but still mobile. He makes small unhappy sounds as Jolessa inspects his wounds
Joleesa turns to her friend and calls out, Ten, I need your help over here. That thing tore a chunks out of "Wheezy".18/32
She barely even pays any attention to her own wounds, her concern for "Wheezy" leaves her blind to the fact that she too is covered in blood and not looking too healthy herself. 10/46
"Well, that was interesting. Anyone get any idea what that was?"
San will inspect the beast's corpse, trying to figure out if it was a natural creature (or a mix), or perhaps someone's experiment gone wrong.

The fallen ... dragosaur? ... is covered in greenish-black scales. It's head has several ornate horns coming off it, and it has the basic carraige of a large raptor. Its mouth is filled with dino-style teeth, but no dino San knows drools acid. A few stray drops sizzle on the matted vegetation under its mouth. The wings look draconic, certainly something a regular raptor would have no use for.

Pat OOC:
Nice monster! :) Did you just add the half-Dragon Template to a Raptor or is this your own little concoction? Either way I likes it a lot. :)
Damn I love your games! :D
Actually, I got this little gem out of the Dinos I PDF from Blackdyrge. HE was selling them at $1 a PDF back in the 3E selloff times, and I always liked this guy. I have to say you folks play your cards well, that critter was a CR 8 in the old rules, kudos on taking it down! And thanks for the compliment, I try to keep them entertaining :)

Credit where credit is due my friend! :D
Ten Foot Twin Eater(Male Half Orc - Half Human- Half Something Else (I know that is 3 halves, but he is a big chap) Cleric Level 4)
Adds his agreement to a cracking game.
Assuming the danger is over, Ten Foot will use a few more bursts of healing energy to get every one back to full health (including wheezy, who would of benefited from the first burst I think).
Healing burst: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 2) = 12
"Anyone seen my sleeping cap?" He asks sheepishly.
Egan is very curious about this abomination. He takes the time to study the beast carefully; looking at the dirt on its feet, even cutting open its carcass to see what it has fed on. This is always useful to determine if he learns any secrets about this creature. He takes no flesh for consumption, as he is not sure if this is a sentient beast or not.

Ten Foot watches in abject horror as Egan starts his autopsy, gagging as the stomach contents are revealed to day light and the stench reaches his nostrils.

Egan begins his autopsy of the dragosaur.
"And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!" Karl quips as the acidic vinegary stentch of its innards perfume the night.
Egan's investigation reveals several things: The dragosaur liked hanging around the river. It's gullet is filled with fish and snakes. Its feet are sand covered, and there are water weeds stuck under its claws. It also had fought other predators, it has several healed or healing bite wounds.
As Egan checks out the fallen lizard's gizzard, a slurry of slimy rocks patter to the ground. The rocks are as smooth as river pebbles and the acid of the dragosaur's digestion has polished them to a high sheen. Among the quartz and feldspar a large round black rock sits. Egan sees a rainbow of colors scintilating from its highly-polished surface. It is one of the famous black opals that the Blue Mountains are known for. This is a beautiful large specimen with good color.
"Well look what we have here"! Egan says carefully using a stick to remove the gem from the pile". "This should be worth a pretty coin". He looks at his Vilya to make sure she isn't trying to sneak up on him and take the "shiney".

Vilya has gone completely bug-eyed at the sight of the gem. A soft purring noise begins to emanate from her throat.
