Tales from the City of Opal

Game Master Patrick Curtin

This is my homebrew world Arcaia. This particular setting is the free city of Opal, a lush equatorial city set on the edge of an immense jungle rife with undead , ancient civilizations, and dinosaurs.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Good news is, my Adobe Photoshop came today!

Now I just need to have some time to install it and work on the maps..

And sleep,... And ,... (I'll shut up now) ;P

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Meh. Sleep is for the weak. And the rich

It usually takes me a few days to rack up 6 hours of sleep.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Maybe it's a birthday thing?

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Heh maybe

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Man what a difference a photoshop that works makes! :D

LOL!

Glad you got it up and running Monkey! :)

I tried to use Vectorworks to make a PbP map once, long ago.
It SHOULD have been really easy.
But for some reason,... not so much,... ?!? ;P

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I'm used to Photoshop's quirks. Now that I have a decent copy installed on my decent PC (you know-with a working keyboard and all) I can realtime adjust and keep track of things. At least while home..

FYI-
I will be out of town almost 2 weeks straight (Visit family, then kids to Space Camp, with visits to work in between)

But, I will have access to internet when I get to where I'm going,...

So I will check in as often as possible! :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I'm hoping that we can finish this fight and move on soon. Hopefully by the time you get back we'll be onto the next bit

Sounds good!

Have sword, will spell-combat! ;P

(Yeeaah,... that one was better in my head too.) ;P

FYI, I'll be traveling this week.
(Taking kids to Space Camp, then coming BACK to do work that I can't get out of, Then going BACK to Space Camp,..[We just had our 20th anniversary, this is closest were getting to a second honeymoon!]) ;P

Short version (too late!) I'll be traveling a lot this week, but I will have access to Internet in between driving and other insanity. So I should be able to mostly keep up!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Quick note: I will likely be unable to update until Tuesday evening. Lots going on. Just a heads up I haven't forgotten y'all, the weekend and Monday are usually my busy times

Iz all good, have fun!

See you soon!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Quick heads up guys: I am just beginning to plan my GenCon trip. I will probably try and tie up a few loose ends, but then I'm not sure how much time I will have to dedicate to PbPs. Maybe some, maybe not. So just keep y'all in the loop, I might not post up quick this upcoming week

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Back from GenCon. I've noticed there isn't a lot of activity on the thread. Is everyone ok on this? Are we unsure of our path from this point?

Welcome back! :)

I think so.
I think we were mostly just waiting on you. ;)
(Ok, I was waiting on you.) ;P

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Hi everyone.

Just a check in. I'm sorry about my silence. I got back from GenCon and went back to work. Usually I am able to update a bit there, but things were a bit hectic. Then I volunteered yesterday and ended up working in a downpour for five hours before they called the day because of weather.

I am working a bus thing today, so hopefully I can catch up with everything

Wow. It took them 5 hours of rain to call it on account of rain? :/

You guys must really be used to a lot of rain.
(And I'm in Louisiana, our DRY humidity is near (or feels like) 100%) ;P

All is good monkey, all is good. :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Lol. My jobs are out to kill me today. The heat is murder out here

Heat=Bad.

Heat with no AC? Stupid bad. ;P

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Yeah. That was a bad day. I got some rest today though, and I feel better.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

So ...

I'm headed back on the road. This time, I doubt I'll be able to do much since my cellphone won't work unless I get a wifi spot. Assume I will not be around until 8/22.

I'm back!
Sort of,... ;P

Me too. Somewhat. I'll see what time and access I have

Enjoy your break!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Ok. I'm back from vacation and I've carved some time out tonight for updates. Keep an eye out for about4-5 hours from now :)

Sweet! :)

Just to let everyone know, I'm out of town on vacation today through the 2nd or 3rd. Shouldn't have much trouble posting (except the last day when I have an 11 hour drive home), but if I'm a little slow in responding, that's why :-).

Vacation is good.

Long drive is bad.

Drive safe, and have fun! :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Hi folks-

Just a note and an apology. This game has seemed to be fairly problem-plagued. I don't know why, but it has been. That being said, I was trying to reread some of the older posts to get the crew names right when you go back and....

You got off the Laugh at Shoalsbreak and headed to Threepenny Port aboard Artos' Ghost. The Sengenese vessel isn't in harbor, rather it was an Opalline vessel that brought you here.

Now, I'm at a quandary. Do you want to retcon it to where the Laugh brought you, or should we stick with Ghost?. I apologize, since I lost the 'bible' of names I get confused with 2-year old postings.

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

Ahh, I could have sworn it was the laugh that brought us to Threepenny. Anyways, the names aren't that important really so long as you understand our intentions.

That's OK Pat,
Honestly, I get confused remembering any post more than 2 days old! ;P

Meh. I'm getting old. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! >_<

I'm with Guy, no problemo. We'll just say Ghost to keep it straight from here on. :)

Dark Archive

Yep, I'm OK with that.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

Works for me.

Male Elf Paladin/Ranger 4/1

I'm all good with whatever.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

OK. I'm going to say the Laugh brought you since you are already interacting with folks at a Sengenese bar.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Hey folks.

I'm not sure if I'm Imagining things, but I don't see a lot of enthusiasm for this game anymore. It could be that everyone is busy, or that we went through a bad patch with my posting and getting everything tangled up.

Let me know, honestly, if you guys are still onboard. I am in the middle of charting out another adventure, but if you guys are tired of the game I'd rather not put in the effort. Let me know. I won't be upset. I'm actually amazed y'all stuck around during all the silences while I was getting my life back together.

For me it's more like there's a lot of other characters but it feels like Magnus and Kesel do most of the talk. I'm really trying not to step on other people's shoes as I'm new to the game. It doesn't feel right joining someone else game and then taking over. A lot of time I'm holding back because I want to hear what the original cast want to do first.

I'm in. I'm good. I'm here.
Sort of. Mostly. ;P

I am sorry for my seeming lack of enthusiastic posting lately, just been too busy to craft my usual novel-length monologues. I've been keeping up with (almost) everything, but it has been tough. (Work, bills, you know,) ;)

I suspect it has a little to do with the down time, it does seem to be a bit rough getting the old engine started again.

Speaking for myself, I'm glad I stuck around! :)

I confess a little bit of dragginess on my part, sorry, I'm sure I'll get back in the swing of the Swashbuckling-magus once we get going again!

LOL

Your a lot nicer than me! ;)
Seriously, Magnus is also a newer PC. He just talks a lot because
1- That's his personality, and,
2- It's me! ;)

Honestly, most of the time even Magnus doesn't know what he's talking about. He's just talking because that's what he does! :)
It's all part of the charm! yeah, that's it,... ;P

That's kind of the feeling I'm getting too.

But, honestly you've been playing for four years now, I think you qualify as veterans by now, LOL

But, as you say, you guys have been keeping up. I'm more interested in what the other folks have to say.

I am in a position to take you folks on a new adventure, and I have the time to post more regularly, but I need a heads up as to whether there's any enthusiasm for it or not.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

For me it's a couple things. One is the nature of my character's concept. Citlali doesn't talk much. She can but doesn't and spends most of her time paying close attention in order to read lips.

The other thing is that it always take a while to get back into a regular rhythm with a character after an extended break.

And I often hold back a bit because I'm playing San as definitely NOT the leader; someone who's not sure he even really cares what he does. :-)

But yeah, it can be hard to get back into the swing of things after an extended break; still, I'm in favor of continuing as well. I've always enjoyed this game a lot.
