Tox

There are about a thousand insects in there (or something in that order of magnitude, anyway). the lower floor, administrative and excise offices, has 4 hostages, and two Neo-criminals. Warlock is probably the one in the secretaries office, near the window, lying in wait. another Neo-criminal, probably DarqSoul, is pacing in front of the four bond figures, though as soon as the bugs started congregating, he begins to move.

Up on the second floor, there is a lone standing figure, in front of a group of hostages. You can't get a good count, because the bugs keep getting killed. At least half a dozen. What do you do? We wil detail the opportunity when you aren't in combat?

Turnabout

A Quick scan of the rooms gives you enough information to draw a few conclusions. 1. these guys are getting jumpy, it looks like they were expecting to face The Choir (close quarters, to neutralize some of Archangel's powers, Tripwires everywhere to counter the Slipstream's powers... and now they're facing you guys. they might decide to cut and run, and know DarqSoul, the things that get cut will include his hostages throats

But, deadly as he is, DarqSoul is at worst a major threat. the real threat, though, is Doctor calamity. for all his Grandiosity, he is a Really powerful TK, If any of you try to take him out solo, he'll probably wipe the floor with you.

As you lead the team toward the entrance, a hedge-maze suddenly springs up, nearly knocking you on your ass, and cutting you off from the team... then DarqSoul shows up, knife in hand. Well, Well, Well If it isn't Mirror's kid, Turn and Run, or whatever he says. what do you do?

Kid Quickman

You get your wish, Warlock starts opening fire. His first Barrage is easy to dodge, and you effortlessly avoid the second one. Now he's all on you, leaping from his perch to engage you in the street.

Solmira

Warlock is in a position where You and kid can flank him, maybe take him out, if you work together.

Sorrel

Well, the good news is, Warlock is cut off from the team... the bad news, the team needs to take a few minute detour through your impromptu hedge maze. worse news, Turnabout is stuck alone, with that psycho DarqSoul. What do you do?

Dad can turn intangible without even thinking, whiz around Warlock and have him in a jail cell before he can even get a spell off.

But I'm not dad. I can make a little whirlwind, keep him occupied while Solmira zaps him from above...or I can turn intangible, let him focus on setting me on fire while Solmira zaps him from above. But if I miss my whirlwinds I'll knock her out of the air...and if I don't vibrate the right way, my goose is cooked. Of course, I can keep dodging and insulting him, but I'm not really that great at insults...or I can just be a distraction to keep him from hurting Solmira, protect her and keep her safe...

So many choices. Dad doesn't weigh his decisions, he just acts. Sometimes for the worse, but he acts.

Here goes nothing...I let loose a windstorm at Warlock to keep him off balance until Solimira can zap him.

unleash powers: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9

Sloppy, sloppy! It definitely distracted him but it wasn't nearly as good as my dad would do. Ugh, Solimira was right, I'm hopeless at being a hero.

"Good shooting, Quickie, keep that pendejo off balance!" Warlock was all but taken care of, and Darqsoul's in would be Turnabout's out. Sorrel needed to help Tox with Dr. Calamity and those hostages. If Warlock and Darqsoul fall too soon it would be lights out.

Taking a running start, Sorrel dives through a window, speaking into comms. ~Lemme know where I'm needed, Tox. We've gotta keep el jefe busy.~

Ugh. It would be this guy. Not much I can mimic, there. "And you're DimBulb, if memory serves. Calamity's flunky now, huh?" On the other hand, it's just knives. Lots of practice against those. Turnabout reaches out and snaps a sizable branch off the new hedge. He's about to move in swinging, when a memory of Mirror's voice comes into his head: Villains always want something. You can't stop them if you don't know what it is. "What are you even doing here? Kidnapping the Mayor won't get you anywhere. Did Calamity even tell a flunky like you the plan?"

Provoke Monologuing: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4

"Impossible fighting skills" includes lots of training with improvised weaponry. Just like mimicry - get in the situation and use the resources available.
And Turnabout's mimicry requires getting directly hit with a neo-abled power. If this guy's thing is teleport-and-throw-knives, I don't think I could mimic that, unless he teleports directly into me.

I'm not sure Sorrel fully understands everyone else's powers or what limits them. Since Turnabout's the leader, Sorrel also kinda assumes he's got a 1on1 fight handled. We're gonna have lots of fun at debriefing.

Yeah, totally get that. That was intended as "declaring 'interesting' facts about the situation", not "ack no wait help please!" Turnabout totally wants to take this guy down just to show he can.

Warlock's Assailants

Warlock recovers faster than expected, and Solmira attacks just a little too slow. A cloud of flames shoots into the air, and Solmira is just able to evade it, the edges of her hair singed by flame. She is on the ground, pretty close to Kid Quickman.

Tell me, Solmira, does this incident leave you Guilty, for failing your team, or Insecure in your own ability?

Turnabout

I think we'll get a lot. DarqSoul says between jumps Halcyon has a fund set aside, for stuff like this, important hostages safety and all that. The Doctor had the idea to claim some of it, while the Paragons are away. Honestly, we were kinda worried Mirror would show, or maybe that incandescent b++$&. He lunges, teleporting once, then again, and manages to catch you bu surprise, and leaving a small gash on your cheek. You dance away, and continue this chorus mortis.

Does this injury leave you Afraid for you life? or do you feel trapped in a Hopeless fight.

Yes, I am enjoying this, why do you ask?

I'm not entirely sure about the advantage/oppourtunity. Is it supposed to be preset or can I just pull it out when I want it? I ask since my Trap move doesn't need any prep, I just have to explain reasonably when I set the trap and how and it'll go off.

Tox places a hand next to his ear and relays his intel.

Tox will move to the edge of the roof so he can jump down with his enhanced physical abilities if he needs to. He also orders some bugs to try and cling or hide in the folds of Darqsoul's clothing, so he can trace him.

From his new vantage point, Tox can see his teammates fumble a bit, and he tries to give them an opening by sending some flyers toward Warlock. After all, nothing like a flying buzzing around in your ear to elicit an alarming distraction.

"Please stay calm and follow me. I can carry one of you if you're injured." Sorrel tries to keep his voice authoritative, but it cracks just before he's delivered the line.

Darqsoul could be back any second. Sorrel could take a peek, and drop a filing cabinet wherever he's leaving his trail... Just, with so many people around... -there was no reason to possibly injure the guy. He needed to be taken in, not splinched into dogmeat.

It might have looked like a dodge to someone else, but as Solmira moved out of the way, it felt like an uncontrollable lurch. When she hits the ground, she hits it surprisingly hard, mostly in the rush to find something stable. A few moments pass as her teammates continue the fight before things become steady again.
I...hadn't anticipated that. Why? A change in air pressure?
...no. It's just another display of the effects of my poorly planned trip. One that hindered me just then. That I let hinder me.
I could be over this. I could be better in every way, if not for my damned complacency.

Pushing herself up and smothering the flames that lick at the tips of her hair, she thinks to try and use her powers well, instead of the shameful display she showed before. Taking to the air again, she hurls another orb toward Warlock and waits, concentrating on the other in her hand to make it more physical than the one that went before it. And when Warlock starts moving to evade, she hurls the other orb to catch him in his path.
She had. To do. Better.

And he does the unthinkable, he turns it on the crowd. The first jet of flame strikes two police cruisers, setting them ablaze, and he charges up again. what do you do?

Turnabout

DarqSoul takes the bait, buying into the faked vulnerability. unfortunately, instead of doubling down with superpowers, he doubles down with the knives. a barrage of nearly a dozen knives, followed by an aggressive advance, backing you nearly into a corner, but without teleporting. what do you do? Hate to say it KQ, but doesn't NGUNS require your opponent to be way stronger than you? As far as Warlock's concerned, I'm pretty sure we're just incompetent. You'll probably get a lot of use for it vs Calamity, though.

Solmira ends up spinning away through the air as the flames come. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this...
She chants the mantra in her mind, but no matter how many times she repeats it, she finds herself having a hard time believing it.

As Kid Quickman engages with Warlock, Solmira steadies herself and stretches out one arm, letting an orb form there and grow to a greater size than the ones before. The color commentary is optional. Context covers all the moldy bases... He just said we'll find out just how old the house is. I'll tone it down...

"Maybe for the Paparazzi smaller papers, but the larger ones will keep it simple. 'Poisoner Panic!' most likely."

Tox keeps low and out of sight, relying on the vague sensory informaiton his bugs can relay. Then he springs his trap!

Dangerous Web: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 3) + 1 = 9

A small group of spiders are mixed in with the veritable swarm. However, these spiders have been bred personally by Tox. Instead of their normal venom, Tox has fed them doses of his paralytic poison, enough for a few bites to slow a normal person, several would knock out muscle control entirely.

Tox how the flyers make a distraction while his secret weapons scurry to their target.

It occurs to me, neither of us are very up-front confrontational.

Turnabout lets out a low whistle watching Solmira's takedown blow. After she's handed him over, he approaches her. "Nice job!" he calls out, loudly and enthusiastically. Dialing it down, he adds, "That really was a nice blow. Good aim, no collateral damage. I can tell the training you're putting in is paying off. "

Later, man the teen calls back to you, in a vague, unfamiliar accent

You get back up to the surface, to find Warlock and DarqSoul cuffed. only one baddie left. what do you do?

Sorrel and Tox

There is an initial barrage of furniture as the mold spores fill the air, a few chairs and a pile of bricks. then it stops abruptly, as Tox's toxin takes effect, and he goes woozy. you guys have the opening to get to Calamity. What do you do?

Solmira

This battle paradigm is going to take some getting used to… I keep forgetting physical damage is nearly meaningless.

Sorrel jukes through clouds of spores, skidding across the floor when a shelf wings him in the shoulder. The padding helps, but he’ll be nursing a fresh layer of bruises for a few weeks. When the barrage ends, he puts his head low and charges from the left, reaching out to pin Calamity's arms and lift him off the floor in a bear hug.

Create an opportunity for my allies.
(impress, surprise, or frighten the opposition?)
