Meh, Eudocia actually has Disable Device, but I didn't get back to the thread in time to roll it. It's only at +6 so the odds would have been against her anyway. Was this a new chime with a full 10 charges, Mark?

Minor Crab-beast

Yup - was a new chime. And the +6 probably wouldn't have cut it in this instance... apparently demons are able to restrain some of their chaotic nature and invest in good quality locks.

Maybe they just used the already-extant locks installed by the uptight Lawful Goods. :)

Minor Crab-beast

Sorry for the no update last night - Paizo went down just as I got into my 'it's 11 pm and the kids are asleep' window... then the smallest kid woke up...

Apologies for the lack of updating over the weekend - the souls of the dead rose from the afterlife and needed to be appeased with feasts and costumes. I'll attempt to get an update in today at work.

Minor Crab-beast

Ouch - that was a little bit of hot dice for the tieflings...

Minor Crab-beast

...and there's the karmic comeback :) - I've a full day training course, so will get to the denoument tonight.

I'm not trying to poke fun, but in the sleep deprived, spoilt-on-too-much-Downton Abbey state I'm in at present the image of Gregori daintily turning a doorknob just conjured this unshakable image of a grizzled paladin doing everyday domestic tasks with an unfaltering scowl on his face and I just can't help but chuckle.

With a steely glare that would give a Balor pause, the Paladin fastidiously dusts the mantlepiece.

As if his hand were guided by the shrewd judgment of the heavens, the Paladin separates his whites from his colours.

With a fury that could rattle the gates of the Abyss, the Paladin presses his favourite pair of trousers.

Aasimar Paladin 4

LMAO!!!!

Male Human

Ha! Awesome!

Yeouch. Now I see why Joneth was contemplating letting the paladin stride forth and take the brunt of the attack.

Joneth should be spared the first two of those claw attacks thanks to Harrol's shield of faith.

And those were the most damaging hits, too. Well-timed buff, Harrol. :)

Male Human

Ah, yeah. I had missed that very important post it would seem. Nice! :-)

Minor Crab-beast

Typing after slicing a finger doing dinner prep is hard... will get a response up tomorrow

Aasimar Paladin 4

Ugh...sorry.

Minor Crab-beast

Sorry guys - I'm recovering from a chest cold and maybe overdid the exercising tonight.... need to get zzzzs.

Tomorrow's a busy work day as well, so might be 24hrs before I can get the next post up.

Opportune Parry & Riposte and Dodging Panache both require the player to choose to use them after an attack on the PC has been declared but before the attack roll. I guess I ought to declare ahead of time if I intend to use them if targeted.

What is with this campaign and +1 morningstars?

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

Ha, no kidding! It's oversized, but Harrol might claim this one if there's no objections. My small sized bonus and bless should be enough to cancel out the -2 penalty, and it'll be a fair bit more effective than the dagger. Plus the image of Harrol trying to heft the thing just lends itself to hilarity.

Minor Crab-beast

AP as written in this case... I'm guessing maybe because morningstars are reasonably common as favored weapons for deities? *shrugs*

Just be thankful Gregori didn't end up with the Holy Bludgeoner :P

Female Human (Taldan) Bard (archaeologist) 2 / Swashbuckler (inspired blade) 2

Yeah, the paladin gets the Mighty Morphin' Sword of Awesomeness, they throw in a bunch of +1 morningstars for the clerics, and the non-divine PCs scramble on the floor for the dregs like the unworthy dogs they are! ;P

Twigs, nice image of Harrol with a weapon as tall as he is; very David and Goliath. :)

Loot list updated. Every time I have to go back and check if it's adamantine or adamantium; I never remember which is D&D and which is Wolverine. :P

Minor Crab-beast

Hey that's slightly unfair... there was that ranseur as well :P

D&D = adamantine... though I use them interchangeably.

Intriguingly, just Milani, of the major-ish deities. Also, the NE earth elemental lord Ayrzul and empyreal lord Chucaro, Maiden of Haze and Whimsy, none of which seem like slam dunks for crusader PCs.

But it is a simple weapon, which ought to be usable by just about anybody ... as long as the non-paladin subset of your party isn't a wizard, a bladebound magus, an inspired blade, and a halfling. Still, there's no reason to have two magic morningstars; could have made one a heavy mace for virtually identical stats.

I reckon roughly 1-2 minutes since the start of the wrecker demons fight, so the shields of faith are still in place.

I keep forgetting how high level we already are. That does give us more leeway. :P

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

I'm a level away from all-day extended heroisms for each of our melee characters (and Harrol himself next level). Forget epic tiers, I sense great things in our futures already. :P

Minor Crab-beast

Small child awakened at inopportune time... apologies for delay till tomorrow.

Minor Crab-beast

I have no excuse bar getting to the end of the day drained and too tired to wade through the update.

Apologies.

Minor Crab-beast

Another day another disappointment from your DM...

After getting elder child to bed at 8pm, younger one didn't succumb until 10pm - then exercise and food prep took me through to midnight... when I sat down to update with a cup of coffee in one hand... and the younger awoke with a chesty cough and needed chest-sleeping for a couple of hours. 2AM brain does not make for nice updating status, so suffused with solnolence I instead slept... fingers crossed for tonight though.

Aasimar Paladin 4

I understand completely, kids and scheduled activities are anathema. I'm pretty sure that's why nature makes them adorable. :p

What, scheduled activities? I've never found them that endearing myself. ;P

Littlest was neck deep in a cold last night, so it was another evening of chest-sleeping him on the couch.

As to endearing I must say the bargaining to not go to sleep can be amusing at times. After proclaiming that he was thirsty and hungry and getting shot down he paused for a minute and came out with:
"I need a haircut."

Minor Crab-beast

It's been a fortnightus horribilus for me as far as updating goes. Gastrointestinal distress, sick kids, sick wife, not-sleeping childers and last night an unscheduled upchuck from the youngest.

I am still here and will get to it... eventually. I thank you for your patience.

Also a small foreboding of the span of days 14-30 December - I will be on a short hiatus as I'll be travelling down to Australia to do the whole family christmas thing.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Thanks for the heads up and it makes sense. Boards tend to get pretty quiet last two weeks of the year.

Minor Crab-beast

After a quite reasonable suggestion from one of my players I'm making an executive decision to call an early start to my hiatus for christmas. That will meant that the studio lights on this campaign will dim from now through until I'm back in country at the end of December.

I'll repeat that I'm still interested and committed to coming back on board and keeping this chugging along, it's just been a tyranny of circumstance over the last few weeks that's crippled my ability and effort. Come the new year I should hopefully be re-freshed, re-newed and re-ady to go.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Peaceful Positive Emotion Holiday Related Occasion with No Baggage... depending on how the case may be ;) Eat lots, have fun... and I shall see y'all come January.

Sounds good! May you all have relaxing holidays!

Minor Crab-beast

And your DM has returned hale, hearty and surprisingly healthy from his sojourn downunder. I'll be getting back up to speed with PbP over the course of today and tonight... so hopefully can get a post in thread soon enough to get us back up and on point.

Aasimar Paladin 4

Welcome back!

Minor Crab-beast

Honesty and forthright confession time - at this point in my life/work/schedule I'm not cut out for PbP DM'ing.

You will have noticed that I've been getting sketchier and sketchier with my update regime over the last probably six months. More and more excuses, less updates and when they do come I think you'd agree that the standard isn't as good as I'm probably capable of.

Apart from the usual familial death lurgies and erratic little kids, one of the other contributors has been that I've started exercising in a fairly big way. Which has been great - as I've dropped about 15 odd kilos, but it also both wipes out a good 1.5 hours of my night as well as tiring me out body and brain. Thoughts of PbP updates get pushed to the back of the night... generally not starting till post midnight, then get rushed, or put off, etc.

So with a heavy heart and much apologizing, I think the only logical and sane thing to do will be to close up shop for a period of time. I'll still be around the boards as a player - but the DM side of me just isn't up to scratch to run games at present. Good luck, god bless... and I'll see y'all round the boards.

If I do get to a position later on to start up another game - I'll come to you guys (and those in the other PbP that I'm also shuttering) rather than open recruiting to give you first right of refusal on giving me another shot.

I understand, I know how it is. Thanks for the game thus far and good luck with everything!

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

Thanks for a great run, Voice. I've really enjoyed both games, you really go the extra mile as a GM and I've enjoyed every minute of them.

Next time you're in Sydney send me a PM.
