Grayface is totally covered and entangled by the sudden conjured web. He struggles in vain to tear himself free.

My intimidate check was likely high enough to make Klarkosh shaken for not only this round but the next. I hope!

Edit - intimidate to demoralize works only within 30'. Klarkosh is 35' feet from ol' Grayvisage.

I have marked out the area cleared of webs by Yasmin on the map – I have elected to rule that there is no fire spread / a second large fire effect may heat the web enough to sustain a larger fire (allowing you to use fire to get free of the web but with the downside of possible damage).

    Have moved Rallos on map

Grayface's will to live holds fast as he sinks into a fitful - and safe - unconsciousness...

Clearly alarmed at seeing Grayface fall, Rallos' attack is wild - too wild...

Keeping his weapon trained upon Rallos, Klarkosh moves towards the rear of the room - running his hands over the brickwork, a previosuly unseen door suddenly slides open accompanied by the sound of turning gears. The wizard steps through and, cursing your impudence once more, declares, "My Clockwork Maze shall defeat you!!! Should you get past my guardians, you will simply fall prey to the next ingenious trap I have set for you!!! Turn back now - enjoy the small amount of life you still have"

Ea's speech, and the healing that follows, further enrages Klarkosh...

Yasmin and Pertreeko may act now - then the Automatons again

"Run you coward!" cries Yasmin. She wanted to pursue, but with Grayface down and the automatons and spinning blades still in the way, there did not seem to be a good way to do so. Instead, she goes after the robots, starting with the one standing over Grayface.

Grayface – you learn something new every day!!! I hadn’t previously known that ranks in Acrobatics can further enhance your Total Defense bonus. The Automaton therefore misses with its final attack before shutting down.

Rallos, weaving around the swinging sword of the automaton, smashes his mace against it’s exposed torso – and it bounces harmlessly back off the machine’s armour, (Rallos doesn’t get past the DR5/Adamantium).

The heavy blow he just deflected jarred his shield arm severely. Gritting his teeth and not saying a word, the warrior leaped to his feet with his shield at the forefront.

I'm predicting an AoO from the automaton as I rise from prone, and I can't afford to take another hit -- in case anyone is wondering why I haven't attacked yet this turn. Due to the arguably silly action economy of PF, I had to use an action to grab my sword last round, and an action to stand this round. :(

Grayface - no AoO, the automaton that you were prone next to - having dropped to zero HP and beyond is incapacitated (constructs are a bit weird, undead die at zero HP but constructs don't specifically have a rule that says that - common approach seems to be they are 'disabled' at zero HP and acting causes a loss of 1HP and therefore 'death'). Of course, it being an automaton rather than a living creature, you probably don't know it is effectively dead.

  • For some reason I thought the automatons had glaives/reach weapons. I was referring to the reach AoO that I would provoke from automaton #1. Considering he didn't have reach, Gray would have attacked him instead of wasting my action on full defense. (not that it much matters since Yasmin the blastertron blasted the bolts out of him.

Not rolling Reflex Save for Automaton as, if it saves, Grayface kills it with his attack (Automaton on 24HP, minimum damage with save is 25).

What do you guys think? Stop and lick our wounds or pursue? I'm inclined to pause for the moment for the following reasons -- 1) I don't want us to blunder into an unexpected battle that we're not prepared for because we were in hot pursuit, 2) the wizard already has the advantage of surprise since he is out of sight and has a chance to take the initiative against us. This would seem to be true whether we chase him now or in an hour or the next day.

On the other hand, I'm all for chasing him down too. That's more fun!

Yasmin eyes the spinning blades of death and decides she's better off on the far side of them. "While I'd love to give Klarkosh what's coming to him, we're pretty hurt. I think we should regroup. We can heal up and destroy these automatons before we give chase."

I vote regroup for at least a few minutes, but probably not overnight. While Yasmin only has one spell left, I kind of like the fact that Klarkosh has already popped his fireball and web spells. He seems to be a level 6 evoker (inferred from his fireball damage) so he has plenty more spells, but fireballs just scare me.
