Ea moves behind Yasmin and Rallos, after a quick prayer to Pharasma to protect Titania
Cast Shield of Faith on Titania (+3 AC) then moves
I'm not sure it will be enough. Fate will tell
GM Zed |
Yasmin popped a new Haste using a hero point last turn, which is why it's already in effect! So hopefully Titania hits a second time.
My bad!!! Missed that somewhere in the mix... and yeah, Titania's hasted attack also hits.
As the large automaton reels under the force of Titania's blows, Yasmin summons another storm of ice... catching the most damaged of the machines, the glow of the automaton's eyes flickers and fades to nothing... the second automaton is also rimed in frost where Yasmin's blast catches it.

Rallos Therinor |
Rallos looks to the Steward.
Any idea how to shut these things off? Or do we have to smash them all?he asks as he
darts in the room between Gray and Tot, ready to respond to any new threat or if the Steward
responds to his question.
can someone move me between Tot and Gray please? on my phone...ty
Yasmin al Akbar |
I just moved Rallos. Also, I messed up my post - the secondary attack hits automaton 4, which is not behind a wall of ice - I can't see Automaton 3.
GM Zed |
Yasmin - I did wonder about that!!! I wondered whether the ice wall wasn't full height or suchlike? I have amended the damage tracker to reflect your different target.
The automatons, one destroyed and one imprisoned. continue their assault... huge polearms swinging through the darkness - yet striking the stone flagstones with a shower of sparks more often than they strike, and pierce, armour...

If there was actually a Darkness spell up, I am pretty sure I couldn't have seen enemies that I blasted, so I'm just going to make up for that by delaying. . . . Not to mention I'm so busy I need some time to catch up.

No worries, it's the time of year when everyone is super busy!!! And yeah, I had left the Darkness thing slide... delaying this round is a fair compromise.
Ea delays
The remaining automaton smashes into Grayface with its polearm...

A good thing automatons aren't alive.I can use Pharasma's boon freely, without any fear of Healing them too.
Yasmin al Akbar |
"That wall will last a good 12 minutes--enough time for us to get to full strength."
Yasmin will spend a few more Infernal Healing Wand charges to bring her friends back to health. By my count, 2 on Grayface, 1 on Ea, 3 on Titania to get near full.
"If you're all ready, I can take down the ice wall and then we can strike!"
If people are on board with that plan, Yasmin will--when the party is ready--take down the ice wall as a Standard action.
Titania Olivia Thrune |
Thanks! Sixty points is enough to top Tot off. :)
Haste is gone, though. :(
But Tot gets to go first. :D
Tot grins wolfishly as the lumbering hunk of metal comes at them. She waits and steps up at just the right moment to interrupt its charge then proceeds to carve away at it with her adamantine sword.

Yasmin al Akbar |
Yasmin decides to save her magics, suspecting that Titania and the others have this well in hand.
Delay.
GM Zed |
Crashing into the automaton, Titania sends it reeling and sparking backwards... the green glow from within its carapace of armour is already starting to fade as the Hellknight, planning her next attack, pulls back a moment...
Waiting on actions from Rallos and Ea

Rallos darts forward and tties to skewer the s

Yasmin al Akbar |
I moved Rallos to almost flank the guy.
GM Zed |
Ea and Rallos' weapons bounce from the rugged armour of the automaton... but Grayface is there, fury writ large across his face, to slam his blade through the vital workings of the machine. The lights beneath its carapace, which had started to fade already, suddenly extinguish and the automaton is still...

The remaining automata, all smaller than the hulks which had attacked, remain still... it is clear that they will not activate...
Yasmin al Akbar |
"So, what do you expect inside there? I'm going to quicken everyone's movements before we go in."
I'm going to pre-cast Haste.
Titania Olivia Thrune |
Tot takes in a deep breath to steady herself before moving to the door.
"If everyone's ready," she says, nodding to the knob.
Ea, do you have a Bless ready? I think we'll need all the help we can get.
GM Zed |
With the massive automata destroyed and the lightning trap across the door defused by Rallos, there is nothing to stop the friends moving through to the Iron Creche... and so, preparing themselves before opening the door, the group enter the source of the Steward's troubles. The first and most obvious thing is the Emerald Spire forming the heart of a massive eldritch machine - hundreds of small gemstones orbit it like tiny moons. A control panel is embedded in the spire just above the floor — a marble and adamantine altar studded with gleaming crystals.
The Steward mutters that he needs to be taken to the panel, "Quickly!!! Before the Creche can respond..."
Arcane patterns of cold fire blaze on the floor of the chamber whilst two massive, coffin-like structures stand to either side of the room, with three smaller ones around them.
The air is cold, and tingles with magical energy.
Map update coming shortly.
Yasmin al Akbar |
Yasmin casts Haste as they open the door. Lasts 9 rounds, in case that matters for when combat begins.
"Wait! This place feels unnaturally cold; let me protect you all."
She casts Communal Resist Energy: Cold on the group, thinking it might be appropriate. Everyone gets Resist 20 cold. Also think Electricity is appropriate but just going off the descriptive text here.
Seeing no immediate threat, she tries to figure out what the magical energies signify and what dangers it might pose. She'll share the information immediately with the group.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
GM Zed |
Yasmin / Ea - the magicks here appear to be fashioned to draw the arcane energies of the Spire from the ancient crystal... and to guide them into the various machines here...
Rushing in, Titania has barely arrived at the immense panels in front of the spire when the machinery flanking the chamber bursts into noisy life... the air crackles with electricity as, one by one, the sarcophagus-like equipment snaps open to disgorge a quartet of hostile automata...

Everyone still has Haste up for the next 7 rounds or so. Also everyone has protection from cold for a long while, though I doubt that matters.
Yasmin steps forward and quickly sends a blast of cold toward the trio of enemies appearing to the north! Freezing Arc, Dazing Spell, Piercing Spell
Freezing Arc vs Junk Reclaimer: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 1, 3, 2, 6, 5, 4, 5) = 35 Reflex DC18 or dazed.

Freezing Arc vs Automaton 2: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 Reflex DC16 or dazed.
Titania Olivia Thrune |
Tot looks from the panel to the strange automata as she feels panic begin to claw at her self control.
"What do I do now," she asks the Steward, her voice higher than normal.
Delaying until the Steward tells her what she needs to do.
GM Zed |
Yasmin's blast of cold washes across the machines within the huge chamber... leaving two of them rimed in frost and momentarily unmoving...

The Steward, abruptly hushing Titania as she enquires as to what happens next, murmurs, "Let me see... okay, I need a few moments of peace whilst I work out was has gone wrong here - keep those guardians away from me please"
Waiting on action from Titania
GM Zed |
Okay... moving on.
Two of the machines have been momentarily disabled but the rust-covered golem and the third of the emerald guardians are still operational... and, moving with a single purpose, they attack the threats closest to the Steward and the control panel across the Spire...

Oops. Sorry. I kinda spaced out on this one.
Tot takes a little too long to process what the Steward was saying and pays for it with a bruise to her thigh. Thankfully, she's quick enough, well enough protected, to avoid a second one. She draws her sword and returns the attack blow for blow.
Not sure if you want to go with she was drawing it last turn or if she drew it this turn. If the latter, just take the first attack.

Thanks for not having Yasmin's magic just completely fail due to magic immunity.
"Damn it, that thing your fighting isn't phased by magic!"
Yasmin moves up to Rallos and causes him to suddenly vanish! Greater Invisibility on Rallos. Hoping that'll give you sneak attacks.
Ea Zalinsel |
Ea moves toward Greyface, and quickly casts a spell on him.
A spiral engulfs his already massive body, and seems to increase the power of his muscles
Cast Bull strenght on Greyface
Have fun..hope this will be helpful
GM Zed |
Thanks for not having Yasmin's magic just completely fail due to magic immunity.
No dramas - it is only the Junk Golem that has Magic Immunity; the Emerald Automata have no such immunity (and if they did, I think some tweaking would be needed!!!)
Rallos and Titania, both warming in to their rhythym, destroy two of the machines - the Steward murmuring something in appreciation - before, as the large chambers start clanking and steaming, a mechanical arm appears from the southernmost structure...
Yasmin - how long are the Emerald Automata dazed for?
Also, all note that the Constructs are not immune to Critical Hits
Waiting for Yasmin's response before taking the Automata's turn.
