Remember to split the money between you three (Yasmin, Grayface and Rallos) or to include our newcomer in the sharing. Ea won't want any money out of it.
All, I'd just like to say Happy Christmas and thanks for having fun with me in this adventure so far...
Normal posting frequency expectations are lifted for the festive period...if you want to post, that's cool and I'll check in daily but I think it is fair to expect a bit of a slow down through the holidays...
Hey guys! Sorry for being incommunicado these past few days; I've been on Christmas vay-cay with my family without any internet access since last Wednesday. I'm back with a vengeance today, though - posting from the airport. As soon as I get home I'll get caught up on everything.
I've caught a nasty bug and I've been sick for days. If I can clear my head I will post today, but I wanted to jump on and say hello to give you all a heads-up just in case I don't post.
I wasn't that excite dabout this level when I read it through but I have really enjoyed it with this group... Hopefully it was a good mix of spooky / creepy in places, old school traps and a cool baddy...
It has indeed been spooky and scary. Freakin' pit traps around every corner, cobwebs, undead experiments, skeleton lords, sarcophagi, giant spiders with venom dripping... *shudders*
In reading through various play-throughs of the Emerald Spire and in looking ahead at some of the challenges within the depths, it seems likely that one (or more!!!) of you will fall prey to some horrible monster, villain, trap, poison, disease or awful accident…
With that in mind, and recognising that you have all invested time, effort and thought into your characters, I would like to propose that we use the Hero Point system. The system will give you a little bit of insurance against the Paizo Dice Rolling algorithm deciding it hates you at just the wrong time…
I am going to suggest you start with 1 Hero Point each at this level and will accrue them at a further Hero Point upon character levelling.
Thoughts?
Of course if it does still happen, Character Death does give you the opportunity to play something new if you wish to…we would just need to work out how we stitch your new character into the game…
I don't think it's a problem from that side....you are a 5 person party (in comparison to the normal 4 person party assumption)...this is more for if it does go terribly wrong (rolling loads of 1's at just the wrong time rather than me getting the CR wrong a bit), you can get out of the situation...
I'm not familiar with the Hero Point system, but I do have the APG sitting nearby. I'll give it a once-over but if you believe it will be beneficial, then I'm on board.
Posting here as a reminder for later. Gray is stashing bundles of weapons near the ill-gotten porcelain and misc finery.
-7 vials of green viscous liquid (we still haven't identified these yet, right?)
-4 light crossbows and 34 bolts
-5 short swords
Also...walls are fitted with shelves containing mismatched goblets, platters and bowls. Noticeably, a number are made of fine porcelain emblazoned with crests of noble families. (Looks good, but a bit ambiguous. We'll need to appraise this stuff and haul it back later.)
Then we found:
-10 short swords
-12 daggers
-4 light crossbows
-3 composite short bows (+2 Str)
-2 suits of leather armor
-3 suits of padded armor
So, are you folks resting up where Rallos was suggesting? And how about Grayface's concern about the aftermath of the battle - you have the two rooms currently littered with corpses...
Will wait for you to chat / decide what you are up to before making a GM Post...
I don't have any great ideas here. There aren't that many places to stash bodies that wouldn't be found with even a cursory search of the floor, and even that wouldn't clean up the blood...
Maybe we could pile the bodies in the staircase on the southwest part of the map, west of Rallos' current position on the map? We could hole up in that room, piton a door, etc.
I suppose that is my vote. Assume that Grayface says that in character.
Well, I just used Prestidigitation. Cleans a 1 foot cube per round, so it shouldn't take long to clean up the blood. Can we just bring the bodies to the second floor and hope that the bandits think the monster ate them all?
Also I love the idea of feeding the bodies to the mouther. I thought the same thing but I know Ea would have kittens. Dang priests of pharasma! :)
We certainly could bring the bodies to the 2nd floor, but carrying dead weight is difficult. (Just RPing here, thinking it out in real-life terms.) It would be quite a task. It makes me tired even thinking about moving 9 bodies that far...
Well I guess if Gray had help carrying the bodies to the ladder (where we killed the spiders in the downward shaft), if they were tied to a rope, Gray could haul them up one by one. Though with my spider-lowered strength, its going to tire me out quick. If we all work as a team we could do it.
Please do not use one of my potions. It is the only means I have to heal myself.
If we have the bandit leader and bandits down, it is more prudent to utilize channel heals and/or healing wand charges to cure my wounds, as they are cheap, free, and/or renewable... especially compared to an expensive potion.
Yeah...sorry to be a pain but I decided that Grayface wasn't in a position to make strategic decisions about healing resources...and Pertreeko was acting naturally...
In response to Yasmin's notion about the magic chain shirt, I agree the magic chain shirt is ideal for Rallos. It is also a viable/preferred option for Ea since she is also wearing a chain shirt.
I was however thinking of making use of it myself, as the "main tank". I value mobility as a melee combatant and the movement penalties for medium/heavy armor is pretty severe in my opinion.
I do fancy having the higher armor value of those higher tiers though.
As I haven't given tons of thought to my coming feat progression, I suppose I'll need to think about what Grayface is going to be great at, and his armor choices will be have to coincide with those feat choices.
Ea, what is your opinion on the armor?
Rall, what is your opinion on the armor?
My thoughts: I would prefer to use it now, because I'm always going to be the primary combatant/"tank". I am currently wearing a MW chain shirt that I bought last time we were in town. I could pass that on to Ea or Rallos, offering the same benefits as the magic chain shirt (lowered armor check penalty, higher max dex bonus) but with only 1 less AC. Next time I find/purchase better armor, I'll hand down the magic chain shirt to whoever wants it, depending on circumstances.
I didn't mean to cut others out of the running for the chain shirt. Would agree that Grayface can sure use it as well for max AC with good mobility. It would also even out the distribution of magic items.
male Teifling Rogue 9/slayer 1, AC 26 T 22 FF 18, F +11, R +16, W +8, HP 83, Perception +19(+23 traps), Init +11
Yeah Gray take it. I'll scoop that mw set you got. It won't really help Ea, since she's got a regular chain shirt already. It make sense our tankiest member has the best armor.
Ea is correct (except that it is level 3). I apparently don't finish reading paragraphs because I didn't realize that the Fighter's armor training avoided the movement penalty. I thought it was just the decrease in armor-check penalties.
Thanks for the heads-up Ea. In light of this, I will probably opt for a breastplate which will offer me more AC than the magical chain shirt.
I am travelling with work for the next two days - I may have some internet access and get a post up - but probably not...feel free to RP amongst yourselves, etc...
