Karval de Longinous |
Walking boldly upto the guards with Zaleos at his side, Karval lets the guards scan his helmet for identification. "Don't worry, you're not missing much tonight. The town is fairly dull, what with the tension and all. Maybe once it all settles down." He tries to reassure the sentinels that they aren't missing out on anything and distract them from there work with the narrative - whilst putting the thought in their head out finishing work.
He glances to Zaleos hoping he can add to the deception, from the initial start.
Charm: 2d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (6, 1) + (12) = 19Advantage, Blank & a Triumph
Difficulties: 1d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (5) + (4) = 9 So Threat & Failure
Darius Lucien |
I assume this is taking place after the other three attempt to make it through
Darius scans the area looking for the most opportune time to enter with Arana, when they can go the most unnoticed. He looks for something distracting the guards, such as conversation, or a larger group to follow inside.
When he sees the opportunity, he looks to Arana and says, "Lets try to keep a low profile and move through without drawing any attention to ourselves.
Darius begins moving forward, keeping to the natural shadows of the area to draw as little attention to himself as possible.
Stealth: 4d12 + 5d6 ⇒ (11, 3, 12, 11) + (5, 4, 5, 1, 1) = 53
Advantages x9, Success x2, Triumph
Challenge and Diff: 2d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (2, 3) + (10) = 15
Failures x3, Threat x2
Total=Failure x 1, Advantage x 7, Triumph
Can I do anything with the Triumph or Advantages to cancel out the failure?
Zaleos Buerlon |
Zaelos moves with Karval while smiling and nodding at the Rebel guards. He nods in agreement with Karval, yet adds "I agree, once the fighting has ettled down, I think we will be able to enjoy some much needed R and R! Still we just need to stay focused for a little while longer right?" He smiles easily at them.
Charm (w/upgrade): 2d12 + 2d8 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 1) + (8, 5) + (3, 5) = 25 2 success, 4 advantages.
Difficulty: 1d12 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + (6) = 9 Failure, threat
Trooper A-337, "Janitor" |
Zaleos, I think you have 1 Failure and 1 Threat, not 9 Failures. Otherwise we're in some deep trouble...
Janitor lets the others do the talking. He simply lets the guards do their job, and hopes they don't recognize his face. [i]Acting like you have something to hide is the best way to stand out. Look like you belong somewhere, and people will assume you will.[/ooc]
Cool: 1d8 + 2d12 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + (8, 9) + (6, 6) = 37
2 Successes, 6 Advantages
Difficulty: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8
2 Failures and a Threat
Shanosuke, I see under the Campaign Info that you can trade 2 Advantages for "a Boost die to ANY allied character's next skill check, even the active character." Does that mean I could use 2 of my 5 leftover Advantages to get a couple boost dice on this roll? Otherwise, does anybody wanna use some advantages to help me out?
Darius Lucien |
I'm spending two advantages to give myself a boost and I'm spending two advantages to give Janitor a boost
Boost: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Success cancels out my failure. Totals after spending advantages too = Advantage x 3, Triumph
Shanosuke |
As Darius and Arana move to the hanger entrance, Darius seems to eases a little to close to the light. Arana is able to catch him and redirect him. As luck would have it, the guards are distracted talking with a female rebel who is unintentionally providing a distraction allowing you to slip past without being stops.
Karval and Zaleos confront the guards on their approach. The guard snorts. [b]"Blasted imperials don't seem like their gonna let up any time soon. We just have to hold out until Admirial Akbar and Commander Skywalker arrive with the fleet. Should be any day now. Things won't settle down until they arrive and clean house, but until then we're going to have a helluva time trying to find any R and R anywhere."[/b ]
Thanks to Karval and Zaleos distracting the guards, they don't take much notice of Janitor and he is primarily ignored.
You all manage to pass into the hanger at last and once inside you are able to take stock of the interior. It is massive and there are many Airspeeders and Y-Wing Bombers in this bay. A lot. This hanger needs to be shut down or sabotaged and you only have a few hours to do it in and contact Tavoes to tell him to stop the bombardment.
You are in and disguised for the moment. What is your next action?
Zaleos Buerlon |
Zaelos allows his Force sight to expand forth, verifying the group is alone. Once done, he turns to the others, "This will not be easy, but we have some time here to explore our options. Let's split up here and check out the hanger. Make a note of any fuel tanks, ordinance or other items of note. I am especially keen in finding any computer terminals here"
Darius Lucien |
"Well, we have a room full of explosive ordinances that could level this place, motioning toward the bombers. However, it'd be a rough ride and it might take us out too." Darius says as though he speaks from experience.
He waits to follow someone else's lead on the investigation.
I'm going to need some boosts from other PCs before I roll any of those.
Zaleos Buerlon |
Zaelos nods in agreement with Darius. "Yes, let's hope things do not come to that..." He then turns his Force sight outwards, looking over the entirety of the hanger hoping the Force guides his sight more than he usually depends on it to do for him.
Perception: 2d12 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10 2 Successes, Advantage
Difficulty: 1d8 + 2d12 ⇒ (1) + (4, 6) = 11 2 Failures, Threat...so they all cancel each other out. Sounds like the Force is well-balanced with this one, he he.
Trooper A-337, "Janitor" |
Not wanting to arouse any more suspicion, Janitor simply walks around the base, trying to recall everything he knows about this kind of setup. Time to take a risk.
Knowledge Education: 3d8 ⇒ (3, 6, 5) = 14 1 Success, 2 Advantages
Difficulty: 3d8 ⇒ (3, 7, 7) = 17 2 Failures, 4 Threats
Unfortunately, his mind is distracted and he can't summon any useful information whatsoever.
Darius Lucien |
Darius begins thinking back to some makeshift solutions he has come up with for other predicaments, as he walks around the hanger.
Streetwise: 2d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 2) + (6) = 11
S x 2, A x 1
Difficulty: 2d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (6, 7) + (6) = 19
Tx4
Final: Success x 2, Threats x 3
Karval de Longinous |
"....but they might do." Karval hoarsely whispers, his mind a whirl over the best way to shut down the hanger without a huge loss of life. Clearly disabling either the ships or the take-off area would be best - removing the pilots could be a possibility, but quite hazardous to remove all of them. He glances around to see if there's a pilots lounge, where they could all be hobbled.
Knowledge (Education): 3d8 ⇒ (5, 2, 7) = 14
Difficulty: 3d8 ⇒ (8, 6, 3) = 17
2Success, 2 advantages & 2 Failures, 2 Threats. So a blank
Darius Lucien |
After walking around the hanger, Darius regroups with the others and says, "Well... We could each hop in one if the y-wing bombers and blow this place apart as we fly out, but I don't know what anti-aircraft systems this place might have to blow us out of the sky as we leave. Thoughts?"
Arana Niss |
Arana walks around a bit, hands behind her back as she examines ships and containers. She then gazes at the single large hangar door and an delightfully evil smile stretches across her face.
Absentmindedly taking a hyper-spanner from her toolbelt she approaches the others and says "All we need to do is disable those doors. Then the fighters and bombers are effectively grounded! I can handle my end of this, but I'd need someone else on the other side, it'll take them days to fix it....anyone else able to use one of these?" she says holding up the tool.
Trooper A-337, "Janitor" |
Janitor frowns at the suggestion of using the bombers, thinking it very risky, but he raises an eyebrow at Arana's suggestion. "Interesting. Simple, effective, not messy. Leaves them for the taking, as well. Commander, I'm inclined to go with Arana's plan," he muses, turning to Zaleos. "As for the tool, I know something about mechanics, if that's what you've got in mind."
Karval de Longinous |
[smaller]"We do want any collateral damage, that's why we're doing this - rather than an orbital bombardment." he says softly under his breath, before adding. "My mechanical expertise is limited to the human body or computers and minimal at that."
However he does keep an air of militaristic nonchalance whilst looking around carefully, softly conversing with the others.
Arana Niss |
Janitor and Darius have same rolls for mechanic, so its a draw :)
"OK, here's what I want to do," Arana says as she leads Janitor and Darius over to the doors. Removing an access panel, she points with her hydro-spanner "We need to seize the vertical motivator here and here, it'll look like a materials failure. To do that we need to weaken the power flow from the auxillary shunt here and here, and also reset the monitoring software so the automatic mechanical problem alarm isn't sent to the central computer. You got all that?" she asks, hands on her hips.
Without really waiting for an answer she leaves the two soldiers to sort it out and walks swiftly to the opposite side of the door, opens the access panel there and begins to get to work.
Mechanics 2d12 + 1d8 ⇒ (3, 10) + (1) = 14
Success : 1
Advantage: 2
Difficulty 2d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (3, 8) + (4) = 15
Failure :5
Threat:1
Net
Advantage 1
Failure 4
Well, so much for being the whiz mechanic :)
Trooper A-337, "Janitor" |
Janitor grins and gives a mock salute. "Yes, ma'am."
He stands by as Arana starts disabling the door, frowning as she struggles with it. "Here, you mind if I help?" He gingerly reaches over and takes the tools. "Some of these things are a real pain in the--well, I'm sure you know how it is." He gives her another small grin as he gets to work.
Mechanics: 2d12 + 1d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 8) + (3) + (4) = 19 5 Successes, 2 Advantages
Difficulty: 1d12 + 2d8 ⇒ (1) + (5, 1) = 7 1 Threat
Total: 5 Successes, 1 Advantage
"...And that should do it." The trooper leans back and gives a look at the console, then looks to Darius. "Hey, you see that the controls here are a little screwy, right? Looks like somebody came in here and jury-rigged it together at some point. Keep an eye out."
Spending my Advantage to give Darius a Boost to his check.
Darius Lucien |
Darius moves to the side that has not been jammed, and attempts to jam the doors.
Let's hope this works... rebels and their jury rigged wiring.
Mechanics: 1d8 + 2d12 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + (7, 2) + (1, 1) = 15
S x 4, A x 1, Blank x 2
Difficulty: 2d8 + 1d12 ⇒ (8, 3) + (3) = 14
F x 4, T x 1
Net: Nothing
I think I'm making progress... who set up wiring like this!?
Darius comes back to the others and says in a frustrated voice, "I can't figure out this stupid atypical rebel set up. I don't think it worked."
Shanosuke |
You have failed to jam the hanger doors. At this point those lacking mechanical may try but they will be up against 2 d12 1d8 and a d6 difficulty. Most of this is due to the passage of time.
So, what do you guys do? Let Karval and/or Zaleos try and jam the doors? Or try a different plan?
Zaleos Buerlon |
Zaelos looks at the doors, an uncertain look on his face. "I do not have the mechanical aptitude to complete this task, I am afraid. There may still be a way to accomplish our task here..." He starts looking for a computer terminal. "If I could introduce a virus into the system to cause the doors to stick in a opening cycle...that should work also."
He will look for a terminal, so he can use his Computers skill here.
Shanosuke |
You do find a console. Time is running out. Also, you are continuing suspicious activity and stand a higher risk of drawing attention.
This makes a computer check 3d12 difficulty. If you have slicer gear or a data breaker in your posession you can add a boost die d6 for the gear and 2 d6 for the breaker.
Have a go.
Darius Lucien |
Darius talks to Janitor and says "Look, I think if we can set a small timed explosive on that mechanism, we might be able to make it inoperable. It'll be obvious its been sabotaged, but it'll still stop them from being able to exit until they can get it repaired. What do you think?"
Karval de Longinous |
Turning to Zaleos, a grim look on his face Karval replies; "Do it, I'll try and draw some of the attention away from you..."
He moves in the opposite direction to the noble and towards a number of crates (or oxygen cylinders) stacked up. Trying to find if any are haphazardly stacked, if there are - he'll 'accidentally' stagger into them. (Maybe even appearing slightly drunk - if those guys that we ambushed did?)
Probably some sort of luck./ bluff roll, to try and distract from Zaleos handiwork?
Trooper A-337, "Janitor" |
Janitor shrugs at Darius's suggestion. "Good thinking, kid, but that'll definitely draw attention and alert the rebs. Plus, the more operable this station is by the time we claim it, the better. I'd rather not go blowing up anything that doesn't need it."
The trooper then nods at Zaleos's idea. "Good thinking, commander. We'll run interference."
However that works. Basically Janitor's less going to cause a distraction and more going to keep an eye out for any rebels looking suspiciously at the group--Zaleos specifically. Perception, perhaps?
