"Yes, I think we need an idea of numbers and when they will attack." Karval adds; "We have an idea who they work for and the greater scheme which is good for future plans... but not our immediate survival."

He looks to Zaleos; "Shall we wait until he comes around and get some logistics from him. Then we can plan our ambushes, and what to do with him."

With a respectful bow to War Leader Taggard, Karval adds in his clipped and tough tone. "We are to carry out guerilla tactics and stall their pursuit?"

"That officer we interrogated was infused with the Dark Side of the Force, Taggard. He was not born with it but was modified to use the Force as a weapon." Zaelos continues. "I fear it would be risky to wake him, but should it be necessary then he needs to be kept under heavy guard."

He gazes off into the distance for a moment, as if searching for more answers. "The purpose of their invasion is to capture all of the Malaki people for use as super-soldiers, infused with the Dark Side and all under Darth Nite's fist. While I am in favor of the guerilla tactics being used, I believe it will not be enough."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

"We have to hit them in their factories, stop them from creating more..." Karval says solemnly. "This was what Adam Cortel was working on....was he turned to the Dark Side? The force runs strong in his family."

"They also have spider vehicles with them, making a mountain defense less of a certainty, and heavens only knows what other tech. I think that despite the losses, the only real viable option is a quick and hard strike at the heart of their army. Only in a general melee will they find it hard to bring their superior technology to bear without hurting their own troops or organize their own troops effectively. Super soldiers or not, chaos is still chaos and it favors no one, which in this case, is a good thing for us if we can assemble small strike teams that can work quasi independently of each other." The mechanic is wearing a deep frown, clearly not liking the situation, or finding himself in the middle of it; You also get the impression that while he is perfectly capable of thinking at this level all the time, he really, really prefers much simpler, less stressful scenarios.

Arana lends her own guerilla expertise to the preparations

"Wherever they create this twisted bond with the Force to those with no Force connection....it must be found, as Karval said , we find those factories or whatever and we find Adam Cortel..."

"I disagree," Janitor says to Na'Soth. "Looking at these mountains, unless the enemy has possession of very advanced and dexterous spider vehicles--and very skilled men to operate them--it would be nigh impossible for them to bring any sort of vehicles into the area, because of the terrain. And there's no good room for an airdrop to bring support from above--even if they tried one, we'd be able to fire on them the entire time. Judging from the Malakai's technology and ability," Janitor says, turning to Taggard, "I'd say the best decision for the time being is to bide time, fight defensively. The terrain creates a natural bottleneck and barrier against any opposing forces; they'll quickly see that any assault on our position here is suicide."

The dark trooper looks around at his companions. "And hopefully, this will drive them off. If it does not, it may at least cause them to focus their efforts on this area, allowing a small strike force of ours to attempt to infiltrate and disrupt their efforts."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

"We shouldn't hold position, but use the bottlenecks to ambush." He pauses; "Of course, Na'Soth is correct. We need to take out their chain of command, take out their head. The problem is can we actually do it?"

"But first we lay traps, get out of here. Ambush them as they approach here, as they know where the village is...."

With a heavy voice; "We cannot take either of the prisoners with us, they could be traced? Either through the force or with tech?" he looks to the others for confirmation of his thoughts.

"The prisoners are probably going to end up being collateral damage, I'm afraid. Better to kill them quickly now than to drag it out. And they do have spider vehicles; I've seen them. Even if they have only a small number, they still have enough to render the mountain defense vulnerable, and their presence suggests that they have plenty of other tech as well. I fear we don't have the luxury of time for ambushes or traps. The longer we wait, the more organized and settled they get, the harder it becomes for the kind of strike we need to be successful at to hurt them."

Zaelos turned to face the pen where the prisoners were being kept. "It seems as if our path is before us. These spider vehicles make this place next to impossible to hold this village. It means the prisoners must be...dealt with. We need to determine where the main base they are staging the invasion is from and strike it hard! a daunting proposition, but delaying their forces only plays into their hands, I am afraid." Zaelos states grimly. "Na'Soth, could you assist us in track their movements to locate their main staging camp?"

Sorry guys, I was sick all day and just wasn't in the creative mood to do any posting. Getting something in before I go back to bed. Hope to be better tomorrow.

Taggard lets out a loud laugh. "I am glad to hear that such great minds all think a like. That'll make this briefing easier."

Taggard brings up some blocky images on the old school map reader. "Your warrior friends are right. We built this base here to lure the enemy in and destroy them with superior positions. We have our teams ready to evacuate the non combatants in the event the empire finds a way to overpower us. We have several thousand a colossal monster with riders lying in wait at strategic location. Every time we move, we do a lot of damage in the process. However, we are not in the mind of suffering great casualties. Dead warriors serve no one and if we see even the slightest signs our forces are to be breached, we withdraw. These mountains are our best holding ground. The empire takes this, then there aren't many places left for us to establish a new strong base."

He shifts the map again to reveal a large block way up in the sky. "That is where your smart members are correct. We need to take the fight to them. We have seen many a strange soldier on this planet. First were the strange monsters that destroyed the Jedi temple. Those left with the giant black ship. Then not long after we have perverted Malaki warriors wielding dark force with far more superiority than our generals. I have fought and killed many of those warriors. They are indeed a being to be feared. For one, they have forgotten the Malaki code of survival and seem to not fear death at all. This makes them fanatical and unrelenting. They also seem unable to feel pain. Horrible things I no longer consider Malaki."

He points to the big block. "This is suppose to be that grey pointy ship thingy that blemishes our beautiful skies. It took us a while to figure it out but we soon realized, that thing is where the enemy comes from. The grey pointy ships always appear first in the skies above, then then enemy rain down from the sky in their flying vehicles. It is this thing where our enemy comes from. Or at least, it will lead us to where they come from."

Taggard then brings up a mass of blocks labeled mountains, representing the mountain barrier. Get we here from scouts is they are coming over this part of the barrier."[/b] He sets hand crafted tubes in the middle of the mountain hologram leading from one end to the other. "We have secret passageways leading through the mountain that will surface where the imperials are landing. What I purpose is we take several warriors, sneak into the enemy's landing place, steal of their flying things and fly up to the pointy ship and take it from the inside. You will have to lead this assault of course as we have no idea how to operate any of the flyers. Hopefully the pointy ship will be nice and empty when we board as all their men are on the ground fighting our defense army. We picked this location because it give us the most time to defeat the imperials. Really, after we leave here there is no where else to go. The empire has wiped out all of our other bastions."

Taggard straightens up. "If the prisoners do have nothing left to offer then we shall release them. Say what you will but I believe in the code the Jedi taught me. Killing unarmed men serves to mutate us into the horrible warriors we fight and I do not want that. The prisoners know nothing more than their masters do. This base isn't well hidden within the valley and they do not know of our ambush's. When we evacuate or win, we will let them go on to whatever fate they wish. I am in charge and will not argue the issue."

Taggard leans forward again. "Now, this plan has one major flaw. We do not know our enemy or it's tech as well as we would like. We have spent much time trying to gather knowledge but our efforts have not produce many results. There is no time left for further research. This is where I hand the mission to you new comers. Zaleos and Karval are leaders in our clan and are trusted at the highest level. The Malaki will follow your orders without question. You know more than we do about our foe and what to do."

Taggard places a hand on the shoulders of Zaleos and Karval. "The fate of the Malaki is in your hands now. I have told you our plan, it is time for you to tell us what we need to do to improve it or pull it off." Taggard waits for your response.

Na'soth brightens completely as he hears the plan, whipping out an old beat up (which seems to be a fit description for most of what he has) datapad. As he is examining the ship model, and working on his datapad, he starts talking, as much to the other outworlders as to Taggard, obviously not overly worried about rank in the current situation. "Do you have any details on any of these flyers? If it's imperial ships, I'd be pretty certain that they have a standard layout that would make them not a problem to fly, and same goes for their security systems, but we want to be careful in what we select to use to infiltrate. If we can, I would say try to find a heavy equipment transport; less likely to be docking near a bunch of soldiers standing around doing nothing in their quarters, and more likely to be near some useful toys."

Janitor nods at first, and gradually even smiles a little, as Taggard goes through his information and, ultimately, his plan. "Your plan is exactly what I had in mind," he says. "Defend what we need to, diverting the enemy to focus on the main force, while a small team strikes at their center."

The trooper looks at the ships and within himself, hoping to remember what he can from his time in the Imperial legions, trying to name the vehicles he's seeing and remember about them...

Zaelos listens to the plan outlined by Taggard and as the details are revealed a smile grows on his face. "Taggard, I do like this plan. It is bold and unexpected." He paused for a second before continuing,"As for what we can do to increase the odds? Hmmm...we do have that Imperial shuttle which is still docked at the Jedi Temple." He turned to face his fellow soldiers, "Perhaps we could also use that vehicle as well?"

Listening as Taggard outlines his plan, Arana's face begins to split into a beautiful grin. "Taggard, your plan is excellent! Justice for these invaders is imminent! she says fiercely, looking at the others expectantly.

Janitor nods along with Zaleos and Arana, then holds up a finger. "If I may."

The trooper moves to the map machine and brings it back to the picture of the ship. "This is a Victory Class Star Destroyer--similar to the Republic cruisers and frigates I used to serve on. It's big--too big to tackle alone, even if all the main troops are deployed from it. I'm guessing the Imperials will shuttle in every man they can, because they want to crush the Malakai, but even so, there will be lots of guards, and it's just too damn large to hold ourselves. As such, we should either strike for the bridge and take command of it, or assault the main reactors to destroy it."

Janitor looks back at the group. "I have no idea if I could help get us in, but I can try, and I can definitely help in the fight once we get on board."

Male Givin Outlaw Tech (Scoundrel 2/Tech Specialist 3) [ Vit: 9/9; WP 14 | AC: 13 T: 11 FF: 13 | F: +3 R: +0 W: +4 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | FP: 0 | Effects]

"A delectable prize to be sure, if a difficult one to catch. It also confirms my suspicions about their available tech. Holding any position without related tech is going to be a challenge, mountains or no. I say we go with the original plan. It secures us a source of multiple shuttles and whatever other equipment they have stored there while denying those same shuttles and equipment to the enemy."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

Karval stands stock still proud that Taggard trusts him so; the Mandolorean knows how vital this is to the tribe and future of the Empire. He nods slowly thinking of the best course of action.

Male Mandolorean Soldier

"Yes, good ideas all around. Janitor, I think you are right - we get on the ship and sabotage the reactor." Karval pauses; "It'd be impossible to hold the bridge."

"Do we have explosives or grenades?" The gladiator wonders, knowing their power.

Male Azlanti Human Mercenary Soldier 6 | HP 46/46, SP 66/66 | EAC 23, KAC 26 | Fort +9, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +11, Perception +2

Janitor looks to Taggard for an answer to Karval's inquiry. "If we do, I have expertise with such devices, especially when it comes to sabotage of this sort. Get me a decent amount of detonite, or even a few ion or conventional grenades, and I can wreak some havoc once we get to the reactor."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

Proudly, the long-haired man nods to his compatriot.

"Na'Soth, you could locate where the reactor will be vulnerable?" Karval politely asks the clever mechanic.

"Zaleos, you can talk us from any trouble?" then the gruff Mandolorean remembers and looks between the noble and the beautiful Aranna; "Whom has the light-sabre? I've heard they can cut the toughest materials, and in skilled hands are an unmatched weapon."

Male Givin Outlaw Tech (Scoundrel 2/Tech Specialist 3) [ Vit: 9/9; WP 14 | AC: 13 T: 11 FF: 13 | F: +3 R: +0 W: +4 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | FP: 0 | Effects]

"I wouldn't count out capturing the star destroyer just yet. I have not spent the last several years simply digging roots and hunting for meat; there is a small group of folks here capable of helping us commandeer the vessel if we can get enough to them on board and through the initial onslaught. The imperials are making a grave mistake if they think that their foe is incapable of understanding and using technology."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

"A mistake they will regret!" Karval smiles. "So we grab a shuttle to their main ship, then break into the reactor core....blow it and escape?"

"Should we also hack into their computer and see if we can download their plans?" The Mandolorean nods; "Fortunately we know what they want.... Force Users."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Taggard sighs. "Our people have limited knowledge on explosives and have no way to produce them other than to steal them. No what supply we have are given to our forward attackers and some of our defenders. We cannot offer any form of explosive you don't already have."

At Na'Soth Taggard smiles with pride. "This is precisely the mission that group was intended for. Thirty strong tech savvy Malaki will be going with us in addition to about a good twenty extra warriors. Hopefully we can get what we need at the ships bridge."

At Karval Taggard says. "I like the idea of capturing it. I had Na'Soth train a team for that but if you think it cannot be done then I will defer to your judgment. We still don't know enough about our enemies technology to make any plans with confidence. That is why I enlisted your aid."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

Considering carefully; "It can be done, it's tricky and the probable loss of life grave. But it can be done. We need to word out how to hold the bridge." He considers the options and the various methods of prevention. 'Gas, sentries, blast doors, creatures, a Dark Force fear eminating from the door?'

He looks to Na'Soth; "As you say a map of the main routes is essential, lest we be traversing the corridors forever."

Zaelos speaks up, "one thing we need to realize is the Imperials are looking for Malaki to convert into Dark Side Force soldiers. We need to have an exit strategy to prevent our capture." He points to Arana and himself. "Should WE be captured, the damage to Mirianna would be devastating. We must not be taken alive!"

Male Mandolorean Soldier

"That won't happen. I am your guard Lord Zaleos. But we do need to come up with an escape route." Karval says vehemently, looking to the beautiful Dathomiri too.

"We check a route, from the bridge to the escape pods. Any ductwork or other insecure entry." his tone business-like after the outburst.

"If there any fail-safes to prevent hi-jacking, places where bridge controls can be circumvented."

Male Azlanti Human Mercenary Soldier 6 | HP 46/46, SP 66/66 | EAC 23, KAC 26 | Fort +9, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +11, Perception +2

Janitor nods at all of this. "Aye, I won't be leaving any men behind in enemy hands--either we all make it back, or I don't. Trooper's word."

Janitor especially nods in agreement with Karval's comments. "A second way out is always important, although it's also a second way in for the enemy... Still, if we can hold a pathway to the escape pods while we do what's necessary, that should work well enough."

Thinking for a moment, Janitor turns back to Taggard, though he addresses the whole group. "What sort of comms systems do we have? Personal comlinks, enough for how many men? My armor has one built in that should enable remote communication across an entire frigate, but other than that, how much do we have in the way of relaying information quickly?"

Male Givin Outlaw Tech (Scoundrel 2/Tech Specialist 3) [ Vit: 9/9; WP 14 | AC: 13 T: 11 FF: 13 | F: +3 R: +0 W: +4 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | FP: 0 | Effects]

"Until we get onboard and can get the precise layout, making specific plans is a bit premature; just because we know the type of ship doesn't mean we know enough about this particular one. First, we need to secure the landing area on the planet, than we need to actually get onboard, then we need to get to a security station, and we can figure out the rest of the specifics there based on the information we have at that point. Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

Arana listens to the conversation as it slowly goes beyond her experience, she knows how to ambush small patrols and single soldiers, attacking and taking an imperial starship...

At Karval and Zaleos' words, she flushes a bit, the thought of being captured and "converted"....her own brushes with the Dark Side have been disturbing to say the least.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Some of you have been inside a star destroyer yourselves. In particular I am talking about Karval and Zaleos as they have been on star destroyers at the Kuat Drive Yards and they were also aboard Mirianna's star destroyer. Granted her's was about two classes above but you know. One important factor you two need to remember is you guys are imperials after all. You know the layout of the ship and where you will need to go once you are on board. Taggard was right, you two ARE the best choice to lead an assault on a star destroyer. Kinda was wondering why you guys never asked about it.

Male Mandolorean Soldier

PC arrogance, quickly followed by PC hubris :P

"Hopefully this can go better than our assaults upon the Kuat yards, where we saw Darth Taintus' men in action." Karval admits ruefully, as their first mission was not a resounding success. "Again you are correct Na'Soth, we don't wish to plan too much - there are many variables."

The Mandolorean spreads his hand and concedes; "However, we need to ensure we have all bases covered." With a firm glance and a quirked eyebrow, he looks to Arana.

"Are you alright?" he asks honestly, a hint of concern to his speech - though masked by the normal bluntness.

I hadn't even thought about being on a star destroyer specifically, since simply having experience on a ship is more than the natives. And Na'soth isn't actually an imperial yet (accomplishing that should be rather interesting to see), so it would never have occurred to him.

Karval de Longinous wrote:

Started out of her reverie, Arena meets Karval's gaze "Yes, its just the thought of being forced to become one of Taintus' playthings...I've experience with the dark side...it is very powerful, very....seductive. "So," Janitor says, "just to be clear, the plan is to either use our shuttle or hijack a ship, get up to the main Star Destroyer with a group of warriors, and take the bridge? If that's the case, what do we do after that? If we're instead destroying the vessel, how do we plan to get back down here?" The trooper looks at his companions, wondering what their thoughts on all of this are.

Taggard nods. "We have a way to reach their landing vehicles quickly and the team is ready. We have weapons and armor borrowed from these imperials and training in using the. We are ready. "More importantly," Janitor says to Zaleos, "may it not be against us. Worst battles in my life have been against Force-users."

Male Mandolorean Soldier

Karval looks to Arana his eyes widen slightly, and he looks to her seriously; "If you wish to speak to me..." he leaves it hanging, the Mandoloreans' stoic personality proving a good confident.

Repeating Janitors' concern he adds; "What do we do with the ship once we control it?" Karval is ready for action, but just wants to ensure the finer points are sewn up.

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Taggard straightens up. "If this thing is not the main base of our enemy, I say we drive it into their main base! We have no use for such a contraption but something that size could do significant damage if it were to crash into something right? Well, we aim it at our enemy's base and drop it on them. That would work right?"

This is Taggard's idea. Feel free to agree or offer alternatives.

"It may prove to be of use when seeking allies, and you will need to seek allies beyond this planet if the imperial remnants seek your people as force slaves. Turning to Zaleos, "Out of curiosity, you have mentioned a ship, but where is it, and what is stopping the first stranger walking by from hopping in and flying off with it?"

Zaelos turns to face the Givin and replies "We have an Imperial shuttle docked at the ruins of a Jedi Temple which is not far from here. While I have not heard from our pilot, I would imagine the Imperials would take an unhealthy interest in the Temple. Me'eona is a smart fellow and a fine pilot. Should he detect any hostile ships, I am confident he can avoid being detected."

"I would suggest that perhaps it would be better off here, where the Malaki can keep an eye on it while we take advantage of another experienced pilot in our own expedition. Getting it over the mountains shouldn't be any trouble, and even if it's spotted by the imperials, they already know the camp's location anyway, so we wouldn't lose anything there. Besides which, seeing aerial support might throw off their plans just long enough for us to implement our own."

Both Martian Level 20 invader

Taggard shakes his head. "We picked this place as a base because somehow ships cannot get in here. When they attempt to land they end up crashing. It seems the imperials know why as they have not sent their own ships in. We know this from back when the Jedi first arrived. One of them said the force was strong in this valley. He flew off in a shuttle and returned almost a month later on beast. He explained that when he attempted to bring the ship down, the controls went berserk and he crashed. He said powerful air currents through him about and he wasn't able to control the landing. I wouldn't risk bringing a ship in here we have no where to put it."

For those of you who were on your hunt know this to be true. Much of the landscape in this small valley is to tightly packed and there are few places where a ship can even land. Think about Luke trying to land on Dagobah. It would be almost like that.

Also, it took you three days to get here via vehicle. To go back and forth with take that much time or more. With the secret passage Taggard presented, It wouldn't even take a day to simply steal a ship from the landing army.

Male Givin Outlaw Tech (Scoundrel 2/Tech Specialist 3) [ Vit: 9/9; WP 14 | AC: 13 T: 11 FF: 13 | F: +3 R: +0 W: +4 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | FP: 0 | Effects]

That was also a tank going along the ground; an actual ship in the atmosphere should be quicker.

"I just don't see the point of leaving valuable resources like that out in the wilderness doing nothing, especially an accomplished pilot. Perhaps we could arrange for him to meet us at the imperial's landing site."

Zaelos smiles excitedly, "Yes, and since we have a valid Imperial code for the shuttle already, we should be able to modify it easily to gain access to the Star Destroyer hangar bay. While we would have a long way to go to reach the bridge, the hard part of the mission would be behind us already." Those familiar with the Mirilukian can pick up on the subtle note of sarcasm in his voice.

Male Mandolorean Soldier

Karval thinks, "So should we take the secret passage from the valley? Strike and steal a ship and then pick up Me-eona? A skilled pilot is always essential."

He has a terrible idea; "And we would leave our ship nearby floating in space, on autopilot (or with a couple of the Malakai aboard)....just in case we eject from the Star-destroyer. Then it could pick us up."

"I'd like to just say that crashing a Star Destroyer doesn't seem like a good idea to me." Janitor shifts his weight and finally places his helmet on the table, deciding that the group still needs to work some issues out. "It raises the same question as blowing the thing--how are we going to get out? I don't intend to jump into open space, even if we find a suit to hold up for it. Nor do I feel like attempting any sort of air re-insertion into the atmosphere, in a hot zone, especially with inexperienced jumpers."

The trooper shakes his head. "Sorry if I'm snapping, but I'd like to work out at least what our main objective for the mission is before we run out there."
