A small disturbance can create great waves. Will the heroes doom the galaxy or save it?

'It had to be children...' Ren thought darkly to himself. He hated seeing young of any kind sick. It always made delivering bad news that much worse. Slipping on a mask from his bag, he set it down and starting pulling medical equipment out. Scanners and monitors, along with a small lab to synthesize needed drugs or medicine. He wasn't confident enough to speak to the adult Felucian there, but tried to show, through his body language and face, that he was there to help.

EDIT: Yes! Ren's determination to uphold his oath shines through to the dice gods!

Bonekeep Slides

The ailment seems to be some sort of virus, the exact type he can not find in his database, though Ren is reasonably sure that the virus is not contagious to humans. It does seem to be some breed of genetically engineered virus, possibly weaponized. With 8 hours care, you think you could synthesize a treatment and cure these children.

Chel enjoys the moondew, commenting "Very nice, we have a similar conconction where I come from. " taking another sip of the drink.

At thier host's comment about lightsabres and Jedi, Chel smirks "No, I for one, am no Jedi. " he says, gently taking an old and battered lightsabre from his satchel. "I follow a more...tolerant tradition. The others....well they can speak for them selves."

Mahath raises an eyebrow at the comment of "tolerant tradition", but says nothing about it.

"The Jedi order as we knew it is indeed no more. The Empire in its savage betrayal wasn't as thorough as they had expected. Some of us remain, though scattered and hunted. And I fear I am but a pale shadow of what my master was..." His voice catches in his throat, and Mahath returns to the food, avoiding eye contact while he recomposes himself.

Grimacing at his findings, Ren cracks his knuckles and sets to work making a cure for these sick Felucians. He sits at his mini lab, toiling away, intently focused on the holo-screen he's typing furiously away at. Attempting to break down the sample of the virus he collected and eliminate it completely.

Quen, the children aren't injured, just sick with disease. The Force won't be able to help them.

Vazus listens to the news with a grimace. "Can't say I'm shocked. You lot were as fooled as the rest of the Galaxy. I fought for the Separatists. I saw early on how low the Empire would sink."

Chel relaxes with a new glass of moondew, a small smirk on his face at the mention of the fate of the Jedi Order.

Looking about he asks "Where did our Doctor and his little shadow disappear to?"

Vaxus looks up at this and goes in search of the doctor. After explaining the doctor's intent to cure the children, the caretaker Felucians seem much happier to have the guests. Vaxus returns and explains that the doctor is tending to some children who became sickened after playing too close to the Imperial facility.

Vaxus makes beds for you all and you pass a restful evening. The next morning the Doctor's equipment makes a loud beeping sound and begins to produce vials of a greenish fluid. The Doctor loads it into a hyposprayer and injects it into the children. Within minutes the color begins to flow back into them and their limbs cease shaking. With rest the Doctor expects them to make a full recovery in about two days.

The Felucians are overjoyed and even Vaxus seems impressed. Heading back into his hut, he returns with a small case marked with EXPLOSIVES: CAUTION! on the outside. "I had these left over from the war. If you're heading into the facility, these might help you make an impression." He proceeds to detail the use and proper placement of the explosives, until you're sure you can use them without fear of failure.

Anything else before you move out?

Just to thank them profusely.

"It has been a long time now that I've just been running and hiding from the Empire, thinking I was alone in my persecution. Your hospitality has helped restored my perspective, my hope. Thank you kindly for taking us in."

Later, as they are walking away, he says to no one in particular "Best night's sleep I've had... well, since I can remember, really."

Ren slept fitfully that night, waiting for his vaccine to synthesize. Getting up every hour or so to check on it, before evtually just collapsing on his bedding and sleeping until he was woken up.

With his vaccine done and injected, he was glad to see the Felucian children calming down and getting their color back. 'Another victory for modern medicine.' He thinks to himself with a tired smile. After delivering the good news, he was surprised that Vaxus had a stash of potent-sounding explosives here it the village. Not wanting to be a huge target, Ren takes two and stows them carefully in his pack.

He breaks his fast and takes a short walk around the village to get his head clear, and stretch his sore legs, for the hike they still had to complete.

Chel sleeps soundly, having finally become used to the constant flow of the Force through the plants and ground.

Gathering up some of the explosives, he says "These will probably come in handy.Thank you, Vaxus. Do you know anything about the facility? Backdoor? How many troopers?"

Mahath, your kybuck seems to accept you as a rider without complaint, while Quen's kybuck seems to take to him with aplomb. Quen, you will have a +2 to ride checks for the rest of the chase.

Ren and Chel, your Kybucks seem to sense your hesitance and make warbling sounds of unease. I need a Persuasion check from each of you to calm your mounts!

The speeder bike is almost lost from sight as you race into what looks like a great fungal swamp! Huge mushrooms lower like buildings above you, while thick sheets of fungus drape down low across your path. Quen's kybuck leaps nimbly, barely breaking stride as it hops through the swamp at breakneck speed! Mahath and the Doctor follow after, just seeing the tail of Quen's kybuck as it dances through the swamp. Chel, however, is having issues; his kybuck seems to have developed a nasty stubborn streak and is purposely taking its time to get through the swamp. In a matter of moments, he's spun around and can't tell which way his comrades went!

Quen, the speeder suddenly breaks left into a huge hollow tree trunk that dips precariously into the ground, emerging into a huge natural cavern where many identical tunnels wind off in every direction! The buzz of his engine echoes and you're having trouble figuring out which way to follow him!

Doctor and Mahath, you barely see the tail of Quen's kybuck flash as it rushes down a tree tunnel into the earth. However there is also an unbroken stretch of ground to your right that looks like it could be used to cut off the speeder!

Chel spurs his kybuck onward, only to find himself back at the Felucian village! Vaxus looks confused, then seeing the uncomfortable way Chel sits astride the kybuck, grabs the mount's halter and whispers soothing words to it. It calms considerably and Vaxus leads it in the direction of the others and slaps its rump to send it off! Chel, another ride check, this time with no penalty!

Quen's mount nimbly leaps from tunnel to tunnel, getting closer every moment, while the Doctor and Mahath cut across the open ground, attempting to cut off the speeder bike! Unfortunately, the open ground proves to be pock-marked with sinkholes and hazards! Mahath's mount is barely able to avoid them, slowing considerably to keep its footing. The good Doctor's mount seems to revel in the chase and it pushes forward, leaping off ground just as it begins to crumble beneath its hooves. The Doctor tries not to look down as one of these precarious leaps removes him from a sinkhole that looks bottomless, but he glances anyway and immediately clings harder to the saddle!

Just ahead, the Doctor and Mahath see the speeder explode forth from an underground tunnel just next to a large hill that is covered with mud and moss. At least that's what they think until the hill moves, levering itself up on one ancient arm to reveal a dying enormous rancor! Ride: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 The rancor is ancient, its teeth mostly broken or worn down, its hide pale and flaking. By the way its breath rattles it is near death, but it apparently has enough life left to desire a final meal! One powerful enormous claw smashes down and crushes the speeder bike under it, sending the rider rolling haphazardly off into the mud!

I need ride checks to avoid the rancor from Quen, Mahath and the Doctor, and a ride check from Chel to catch up!
