Enemies in range. Gotal, Kagore, Merc3/4/6
Kagore is dropped to Incapacitated (-3D) - Make TN 15 stamina check or fall unconscious.
Gotal is dropped to Severely Wounded (-2D)
The 3 mercs die.

The rest of those who were not in the blast radius are shaken but the traitor who was furthest away from the blast still has his gun pointed at the woman's head. Tallon turns toward him.

"Stay back or she dies!" the traitor says!
"Quist please let her go. You can leave just don't hurt her!" Tallon replies.

Kagore stays upright after his blow lands. "Dana...finally you can be at peace..."

Then the explosion hits and he is flung like a rag doll across the room and lands unmoving on the ground.

The scene is a disaster. Body parts all over the place. Gotal is bloodied. Kagore is unconscious on the ground but you can see he is still breathing. Everyone is shaken and the traitors hand is uneasy as he holds the blaster to the woman's head.

"Stay back!" he says wearily. "I'll do it!"

Tallon holds up his hands with blaster in air as the other mercs keep their guns pointed at him.

"Walk away and let her go" he says calmly.

The man slowly backs towards the exit where there is a bloody mess with his back to the door and holding the woman firm to him.

Anyone want to do anything or just let this play out?

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

With all the attention turned away from him, Rufus lines up a shot at the traitor, targeting the arm with the blaster. Then, without a quip (his ears were still ringing anyway), he squeezes the trigger.

Blaster: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 6) = 18
Fate point: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6, 3, 3) = 20

Fate point doubles the roll in current rules. New rules will give +10 bonus to roll.

Rufus lets loose with the blaster shot hoping he doesn't hit Tallon's wife in the process. Concentrating he feels as if everything is set right in the world around him he slowly squeezes the trigger and the shot hits true to his mark felling the traitor and the woman runs to Tallon's arms obviously scared for her life.

Tallon turns to the 2 of you who still stand.

"Thank you, my friends. It seems that only members of this Rebellion I have heard so much about would risk their lives to defend an aging hero"

He looks to the downed men.

"Your friend and you" pointing to Gotal "Look as if you need some assistance. Before we leave we can utilize the Medical bay in the facility to help with the wounds. If I may be permitted to bring my wife and Droid, I shall accompany you once we are ready. As in the days the Old Republic, the name Adar Tallon shall once again serve the cause of Justice."

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

After the blaster shot rings out and the traitor slumps down dead, Rufus stands silent for a moment as his actions sink in. Then he blinks away his shock and grins at Tallon. "There's has got to be a great line that I'm not thinking of."

Then he shoulders his blaster and goes to check on Kagore's. "Still with us, buddy?" he asks, then sighs with relief that the brawler is still alive.

When Tallon speaks, he smiles and nods his head. "Yep. But, we still have a Star Destroyer to outrun. So we should be moving soon. Our ship's back in Mos Eisley. What have you got here? Anything that's fast?"

Tallon nods "We have my land speeder here that can take us back to Mos Eisley. Lets get your friends to the Medbay fast to see what we can do for them." He turns to the mercs that remain. "Cleanup whatever you can here."

With that the mercs get to work and Tallon along with his wife lift up Kagore to bring him to the medical facilities.

medicine kagore: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 1, 1, 6) = 22
medicine gotal: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 4, 6, 6) = 22
bacta kagore: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2) = 8 Hours
bacta gotal: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Hours

Tallons wife tosses both bodies into bacta tanks and enters in some information.

You both are healed fully.

A few hours later both men exit the bacta tanks fully healed and refreshed.

"That was a close one friends" she says.

Tallon nods. "We need to get going."

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

"Maybe while we're waiting for our wounded to soak in their bacta bath, I can take the speeder back to Mos Eisley and then fly our ship back here. It'll be easier loading her up with whatever supplies you want to bring along. If I know the Rebellion, they won't turn down this kind of equipment," Rufus offers.

Once the business of securing Adar Tallon's support for the Alliance and making sure his friends are being tended to, Rufus finally lets his excitement for meeting a legend in starfighter tactics get to him. He relays his own love for flying, and has to comment on some of Tallon's old tactics that he learned at the Academy that are still being taught to this day.

Whatever the old warrior is willing to impart, Rufus soaks up with an eagerness not seen since his first years in flight school.

This can hopefully explain Rufus's gaining of the Ace Pilot perk when we switch to the new rules.

CUT-AWAY TO THE RELENTLESS
EXTERIOR: SPACECRAFT IN SPACE. Streaks of blinding color whip past the Imperial Star Destroyer Relentless as the giant craft mom through hyperspace.
INTERIOR: IMPERIAL STAR DESTROYER — PARLAN’S
CHAMBER. Captain Parlan, alone in his chamber. A strange sound enters the room and light begins to play across Parlan’s dark features. He looks up and bows quickly. A 12-foot hologram of Darth Vader materializes before Parlan.
"Everything proceeds according to plan, Lord Vader," says Parlan. "We are about to come out of light-speed just beyond Tatooine system. Nothing can possibly go wrong."
"See that it doesn’t. Captain Parlan," replies Vader grimly. "Do not fail the Emperor… or me."

EXTERIOR: MOS EISLEY SPACEPORT.

One of the mercs runs into the room.
"Sir we received reports that the Relentless is already anchored above Mos Eisley and they are starting to send down ships."

Tallon turns to Rufus.
"May not be a good idea for you to go alone my friend. May be to much trouble to get the ship and bring it here, probably best if we can get to it and try to escape as fast as possible."

SCENE CLOSE UP OF KAGORE'S FACE FLOATING IN THE BACTA TANK.

Floating in the Bacta tank Kagore found himself in a darkness of his mind's making. He looked around the inky darkness of the void he was in and then down at himself, realizing he was no longer wearing his old patched together armor. When he looked up again there was Dana standing there watching him with a sad smile on her face.

"Am I dead? I took care of the bastard who killed you Dana..." She shook her head no and came closer.

A great weight seemed to come over Kagore as if all the long years of his life were suddenly upon him. "I have fought so long...I am so tired. All I've known, the republic, my comrades, my friends you included... all gone now. I can't beat the empire, hell I couldn't even save you from a murdering bounty hunter. The others are better off without me..."

"No."

He looked up at her simple statement feeling a pain in his chest as he met her eyes, the disappointment in them so clear at his voicing his inner doubts and fears.

"Your strength comes from your living every day with the burdens you carry. The weight of the fallen in your fists. To rising again every time you fall and taking another step forward." Her hands came up and cupped around his curling it into a fist and holding it.

"Carry me with you too now. You are my only hope."

END INTERLUDE

Kagore awoke having aches all over his body but his wounds miraculously healed. groaning he cast around for his gear and armor as he recovered. There was no time to lie down...Gotal and Rufus would need his help.

Post Fight

Gotal spends less time in the bacta tank than does Kagore. Once he comes out he looks over his Rebel ally to ensure that he is getting well and does not need to use the Force to intervene.

In the meantime while he sits he calms his heart and his mind for the journey ahead. He hopes that the road before him will bring him across the path of a Master or a Holocron that may have survived the Purge. He would need it if he will grow in the Force and become powerful enough to face this Empire and its Emperor.

------

NOW

Gotal nods to Tallon, "Agreed, our lives are irreplaceable this equipment is not. Let us go".

------

DM:
What would Gotal know about Vader and the Emperor at this time or is it not yet widely known that they are Force users?

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

Rufus grows pale when he hears the star destroyer is in orbit above them. "Right. Escape is good. Let's do that."

As he starts loading up whatever gear can be stuck in the back of the speeder, he has to ask, "Are you sure you don't have a spare starfighter lying around?"

"Sorry my friend. Our old Z-95 got destroyed a few years back by some raiders."

Everyone gathers their things together once Gotal and Kagore are good to go and head out on the speeder. Along with the three of you is Tallon, his wife and droid. The rest of the Mercs stay back at the fort.

The twin suns of Tatooine set the twilight sky ablaze with fiery color. But even as darkness approaches, Mos Eisley is alive with activity. People are running everywhere, preparing ships, gathering belongings, paying off debts. Even the locals move quickly, securing doors and windows, transporting families and possessions to safer quarters. It appears as if a mass exodus of visitors and residents alike is imminent.

"Well, there should be plenty of traffic on their way out. Except for all the dead bounty hunters. There's probably now a surplus of ships without an owner. Hmm. I wonder if Jodo Kast had a ship?" Rufus wonders aloud.

As you make your way to the spaceport to Docking Bay 94 where you left the Alabaks Gold you see a man in imperial uniform standing in front of the entrance with ten storm troopers. There is no other entrance to this Docking Bay.

perception: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6

They don't seem to notice your group but there is no easy way to sneak up on them either with the narrow path but lots of cover with crates and such.

At this point you can use new rules if your converted already. This is just about end of this adventure piece that will lead directly into next.

Rufus nods in agreement with Gotal. "You're right; any ship blasting its way out is going to be target number one. What I wouldn't give for a good bantha stampede right about now." He chews his lip as he thinks of the sort of mayhem that they could cause that might let them slip away unnoticed.

Rufus you know that the Astrogation system could very well possibly lead whoever slices into your system the ability to know where you have been to in the past possibly leading to some places you would rather the imperials not knowing about.

There are numerous docking bays but blasting or cutting your way into a new entrance may be very troublesome into your docking bay. Time is of the essence and obviously they are on the look out for Tallon and possibly you guys if they have any witnesses.

Alabak's Gold

Wild Die
To Wild Die or not to Wild Die. I've used it in another game and it's great for getting super high results on skill rolls so contemplating using it in this game. It's technically not in 1st edition rules but this is modified game anyhow. This is what I'm thinking.

Allow Wild die for Skill/Attribute rules but NOT for damage rolls. You can get dropped pretty fast with a lucky roll on wild in damage and would rather not see that, especially for my players. You do get a bonus if you roll really well on an attack +1 damage for every 5 over the TN to hit the target which is a decent bonus for hitting really well.

Thoughts?

Custom Rules

Classic Adventure Books

That seems like a pretty good idea for the wild die. It can still help contribute to damage, but to a much lesser extent.

How are character points used to affect defenses? Are they rolled as normal and added to the total?

Defenses are static. Only way you can raise them is if you do full defense which will bump them up +10 each but you can't take any other actions or using force point which gives +10 boost as well.

Skill/Character points can't be used to affect rolls they are only used for boosting skills as exp. I'm using Drama points for boosting skill rolls before or after you roll you can use one to get +1D to the roll. They refresh when I think it's time to refresh or something heroic happens in game.

Okay, that's interesting. What about use of cover? How does that work with the static defenses?

As I recall, spending character points to add extra dice to your roll worked like the wild die, where you could keep rolling if you got a six.

Does advancement work the same? Skill points cost the number of the die per pip, three pips equal +1 die?

Cover is described in the house rules PDF.

Attacking a Target
The Target Number, or TN, is the number needed to successfully hit the target. The base target number on an attack is based on the target’s static defense score.
Range: Add the range modifier to the Dodge score in all cases (Point Blank/Hand-to-Hand -5, Medium +5, Long +10). See the gear list for ranges.
Cover: If the target is behind at least 50% cover, add +5 to the TN. Add +10 for 75% cover. It’s impossible to hit a target behind 100% cover. Darkness can also be considered as cover at the GM’s whim.

Drama dice will be used like character points in terms of adding +1D to your roll and Wild Die will be just for skill/attribute rolls and as long as that wild die keeps rolling 6 you can keep rolling it and adding it up. For PbP the first die that shows up will always be your wild die to make it easy.

Yes advancements work the same. 3D+2 Blaster to increase would cost 3 skill points to make it 4D. From 4D to 4D+1 is 4 skill points.

Most of the rule changes for this game are in the House Rules document.

All right. I'll work up a new avatar and check out the new rules a bit closers so I'm not missing something.

I'm going on a mini retreat to the mountains this weekend. I'll be offline until Monday, when I'll get everything up for your approval.

Static Defenses:
Dodge: 18 Block: 18 Parry: 12 Soak: 12(18)

*CUE THEME* STAR WARS!

Kagor looks good! For your soak can you put your base soak and then 18 in ( ) so can tell difference between natural and with armor in case you ever get his with a Lightsaber :)

Stalwart sounds good. Busy weekend for me to with family business. Looking to hopefully start mid to late next week.

Done!

DM Praedonum gives a wink to Stalwart :-)

Well met! How are you enjoying the S&S game so far?

It is an interesting way to write an adventure, update forthcoming tonight!

I'll let you guys come up with your own rebel cell name for this game.

Static Defenses:
Dodge: 9 Block: 17 Parry: 17 Soak: 12 (+6 vs smaller size)

Blackstar? I got nothing great.

Well, the Rand Ecliptic Evaders are taken (blast it, Biggs!), so should we go with something generic until we earn ourselves a really good one?

Or, if we're starting on Tatooine, maybe something to throw off the Imperials, like the River Wampas. "Sir! Reports are in that the Swamp Tauntauns are active in this sector!" "Are you daft? This is a desert world, lieutenant. Ignore it."

Static Defenses:
Dodge: 18 Block: 18 Parry: 12 Soak: 12(18)

Freedom Mynoks. Bantha Bastards. GLORIOUS GUNGAR. Somebody stop me.

Male HP 23/30 | R 13, F 12, W 15 | DT 12 | Per +9 | FP 4/5 | DP 1/1 | DSP 1 Umbaran Jedi

Bear with me as I am not a Linguist by any stretch of the imagination.

MEDDL Squadron.

MEDDL as an acronym for Eleutheria Diá Mésou Dýnami̱ Lathraía - translated quite literally from Greek as Freedom through Force and Stealth.

Static Defenses:
Dodge: 18 Block: 18 Parry: 12 Soak: 12(18)

Eh...too cerebral for a rebel cell name. I mean these are guys that use Rogue and Primary colors.

I will post first official post on Monday! Had lot going on with family and work this week.

UNACCEPTABLE!

just making sure I got the right players ready for the game

Kagore - Veteran Clone Trooper - Tera Kasai Student
Gotal of Umbara - Veteran Jedi - Ambassador
Rufus Griller - Brash Pilot - Former Imperial Starfighter

If we get more players then we can add later but this looks to be the crew starting out.

As for your cell name i'll just put [INSERT NAME] for now! :)

Male HP 23/30 | R 13, F 12, W 15 | DT 12 | Per +9 | FP 4/5 | DP 1/1 | DSP 1 Umbaran Jedi

Nice intro! Looking forward to it, thanks for the invite! :-0

Happy Fathers Day Caps!

You to bud! You guys can start posting.

I'm making one little change to armor where it gives a penalty to initiative so there are some drawbacks to wearing it sorta of like the old edition but not as severe.

Armor Value Init Penalty
Quilted/Flight Suit +2 Soak -2
Blast Vest +4 Soak -4
Storm Trooper Armor +6 Soak -6
Mandalorian Armor +9 Soak -6

Noted.

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

Quick question: you had a note that the female bounty hunter had a -15 to dodge. Was that a penalty, or was that her Dodge defense?

FYI, yes, I'll take cover.

That was to hit Kagore cuz he had -10 from his attack and then -5 from being at point blank range so basically kagore had a 1 dodge due to his attack for her to hit.

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

Ah, understood.

Static Defenses:
Dodge: 18 Block: 18 Parry: 12 Soak: 12(18)

Cheese it guys!

don't moon the imperial star destroyer! :)

For some reason this thread will not dot for me...

Aight, fixed it.

Ahhh, d6 Star Wars! You players are in for a real treat!! This is Tatooine Manhunt, right? Very good stuff.

The old d6 game seems as popular as ever.

Yes starting off with Tatooine Manhunt :)

Static Defenses:
Dodge: 18 Block: 18 Parry: 12 Soak: 12(18)

(No spoilers! I haven't played any of these adventures before xD)

Definitely no spoilers from me, other than you're playing one of the best modules of one of the best RPGs ever made. Enjoy!

HP 29/29 | Force 5 | F 14 R 19* W 14 Human Brash Pilot/Scoundrel 3

Sweet. I played a ton of the old d6 Star Wars game back in the 1990s but somehow never played TM. Definitely looking forward to it!

And being run by one of my favorite DM's!

A long time since we went straight 4 times in a Dungeon and fought a Dragon! :-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Shhh don't give away my amazing dungeon crawling secrets!

will push us along tonight.

This is now 3 times in 2 1/2 years. Long story... :-(

Ugh. Hope the family is well!

Ahh, Star Wars tech: shoot control panels to close doors, toggle switches, and perform any number of actions. It's not a bug, it's a feature!

ho ho ho :)
