Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship ??????????. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
This is a PLAYER recruitment for a play-by-post campaign here on the boards using the new Star Trek Adventures game created by Modiphius. Please note that this is a player recruitment, not a character recruitment. I do not want to hear about your character concepts yet. What I am looking for is a group of players who can post frequently and enthusiastically, who want to play a Star Trek game, and who want to create characters that will develop over time. While there will be plenty of action and adventure, there will also be opportunities to grapple with ethical and moral quandaries and contemporary problems in the finest tradition of science fiction.
I envision the creation of the campaign going like this:

1. Applications and player selection.
2. Players choose era of play.
3. Players design the ship their characters will be crewing.
4. Players design their characters with an eye to creating a balanced crew with lots of opportunities for interaction.

That is a weird order, I know, but it feels like the best way to go about it to me. A starship crew is not a random collection of characters, but is chosen to work as a team.

So, if you want to apply, please submit the following:

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign?
2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them? (This isn’t a deal breaker. I just don’t want to be the only one who has the rules)
3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek (could also be a movie) and why? (This is not a lore test. I don’t care if you know everything about it, or even the name. You could say something like “the one where Data is kidnapped by Lore and the Borg.”
5. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do. If you have a good sample of posts here, I’ll just poke around and see what you have written in real games.

If you applied in my previous Star Trek recruitment, you can just refer to those answers. This campaign will be set during the movie series in the Wrath of Khan to Voyage Home era with the cute maroon jackets. Things will be a little more weird than the TNG/DS9 era, depending on player desires and input.

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign? I am a longtime Trek fan. Original crew adventures seem more playful and tongue and cheek than later shows. The movie era is more serious but still allows for this kind of play. Plus it is relatively unexplored.

2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them? Have them. Have run the playtest adventure.

3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? . Can post 1-3 times per most weekdays. Have a thoughtful, descriptive style of prose.

As far as weaknesses, I can, at times, over write and all edit a single post for over an hour.

I also feel I sometimes hog the spotlight, often in part as I post more frequently than others.

As working father, I may have periods of limited availability to post.

4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek (could also be a movie) and why? TOS - Trouble with Tribbles. It's just funny and clever be set up another clever and funny DS9 sequel decades later.

All Trek, possibly Innee Light as it was different and daring in it's story telling, kept the viewer wondering, and ultimately had string emotional impact that resonatwd into later episodes.

5. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do....

Check out my Alias's threads, particularly Aegis-9 in Cries from the Dridt doe space adventure (character started out cartoonish but grew to be serious) and Galethea for comedy/cleverness?

Thanks for your consideration.

I'll throw in over here as well, though my real passion is TNG+ era, I love me some Wrath of Khan.

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign?
I'm a big Star Trek fan, I've been terribly interested in this system, but I don't have enough meat friends who like RPGs to support more than one game)
2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them? (This isn’t a deal breaker. I just don’t want to be the only one who has the rules)
I am willing to buy the rules
3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Strengths: Imaginative, team player. Weaknesses: If the game goes idle for too long I get confused about the plot. I can post from my phone 7 days a week, but I can only write long posts on my WFH days, Tu/Th
4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek (could also be a movie) and why? (This is not a lore test. I don’t care if you know everything about it, or even the name. You could say something like “the one where Data is kidnapped by Lore and the Borg.”)
There's a lot of DS9 episodes that I'm really fond of, just about anything with Garrik, but really my absolute favorite episode is the one with Wesley Crusher and Ashley Judd fighting against a mind control AR game. It was one of the first episodes I saw and I was absolutely fascinated by the show. From that point on I was totally hooked on TNG.
5. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do. If you have a good sample of posts here, I’ll just poke around and see what you have written in real games.
I have a pretty high post count, but the writing I'm most proud of was for a now defunct game.

Tomas Von Passlefoot had grown very fat since taking a leadership role in the Technic League. With these new WarMechs handling the basic foot soldiering, he had little to do than give orders and eat vast amounts of little sweets.

He licked the chocolate off of his fingers as he crumpled up the bag that he had ripped from the orphan's hand.

A lovely offering, but it's a far cry from what's actually owed. He turned to the orphan-master. Can you pay?

The orphan-master shook his head sadly. Von Passlefoot shook his head sadly. Only one was sincere about the gesture.

Send the children inside. We'll discuss this man to man.

The orphan-master shuttered the sixteen young children into the orphanage. He turned back to Von Passlefoot, only to see the Technic Leaguer flanked by four hulking WarMechs, their girth eclipsing Von Passlefoot's own.

Von Passlefoot blew into a brass whistle and the robots lifted their arms, long jets of flame emerging from their palms. All but one. The newest version, who had been gifted with limited command intelligence. The Mark V stepped in between the orphan-master and Von Passlefoot.

All life is precious he intoned, using his voice for the very first time. I shall never be used for violence again.

Von Passlefoot stood mouth agape, but only for a moment. He hadn't risen so far in the League without being able to think fast on his feet.

Then we'll melt you to slag and go around you he said, haughtily.

Mark V, who no longer thought of himself in terms of a number or a version thought for a moment. The gears in his head turned and just as quickly as he devised his original philosophy, he revised it.

Some life is precious. He cracked the knuckles of his pressure-driven gauntlets, steam escaping from the joints. I shall be used for violence as circumstances dictate.

The Mark V was VERY advanced, compared to the Mark IIIs that Von Passlefoot had otherwise been trusted with. When he was done with them they had been torn into so much scrap it was impossible to tell if it assembled into three robots or four. He scattered the chunks of metal over the ruins of the orphanage, over the ash that could have been made by sixteen young children...or one very fat man.

Hey this is Eric again posting my interest in joining this game: I am reposting my answers to the questions you had in the original recruitment thread:

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign? I am a Trekkie...OLD school style! I have always enjoyed the human struggles represented in our exploration of the galaxy and dealing with the myriad moral dilemmas that we run across as well. Not so much the space opera aspects.

2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them? I would consider buying these rules once they are available on Paizo.

3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? I'm a regular poster on these boards with a lot of posting history to review at your leisure. My weakness is I sometimes fall behind on my posting, plus I have difficulty in pushing a game along if it is stalling out.

4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek? I have a lot of favorite episodes, from the TOS and several TNG ones as well. Plus the Wrath of Khan movie has everything I love, from action to deep moral issues too.

5. What would be your preferred era of play? It is a tie between TOS, and the TMP era (The Motion picture era).

6. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do. If you have a good sample of posts here, I’ll just poke around and see what you have written in real games. I am a prolific poster, but I could submit something via PM if you like.

1. I just recently became a Trekkie, in 2017 it was my New Years Resolution to become one. I did not make one to become a Hardcore Trekkie, just the slightly than average Joe Trekkie.
2. If I can find the rules and they are fairly cheap I'll buy them.
3. A wise man once said it is easier to other people's weaknesses than your own. I'll let others who have played with me to point out my weaknesses for me. Reading however is one of them. My strength is the ability to stick with something to the end.

4. I don't like watching the originals, but that is only because of the graphics, I've seen like three episodes. I own the series of enterprise and Next Generation. And I've seen lots of episodes in those. I enjoy the episode where Q tries to convert Ryker into another Q, why didn't Ryker take it, unlimited power and possibly immortality, he was a foul.
5. I'm only familiar with enterprise erra and Next Generation erra, but I'll play in any erra and the three new movies, but I can learn the other erras as I'm not watching horrible graphics.
6. My writing samples can vary a lot from game to game, I'm not sure what you would find accurate in this game.

Bumping in case any more folks from the original recruitment mised this.

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign?

I have been a fan of Star Trek ever since I was young. My first real impression was TNG (I had only seen a few sporadic episodes of the original series).

For all that I've never gotten to play in a Star Trek RPG. I have many character ideas depending on the era and focus of the game. Another reason is I want to learn the rules, I picked them up a little while back and have some interest in running a campaign at some point and have started learning but this would get me digging into the rules, properly tackling them. Seeing them in action is intriguing.

There's a lot of potential for co operative storytelling between the players and GM which appeals to me.

2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them?
I already have the rules and have been idly reading them and trying to get my head around various concepts.

3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Good posting rate
Good grasp of the various eras in Star Trek
On the downside my posts aren't the longest, this can often be more in the case of combat focused games. I enjoy combat but there's only so many ways I can get enthusiastic about saying I swing my sword. However in others this isn't as much of a problem in a social context in character. I find it easier when discussing more philosophical concepts in character, which is a fairly common thing in Star Trek. A good example of this is in a Rise of the Runelords game I am in my character, an Elven Wizard called Azorious has started getting into debates with the group's Cleric of Erastil Wyndel over the benefits of rural versus urban living... my character can see value in both but he's more debating and presenting counter points. A good example of this and the more invested type of posts I want to make is here.

4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek (could also be a movie) and why? (This is not a lore test. I don’t care if you know everything about it, or even the name. You could say something like “the one where Data is kidnapped by Lore and the Borg.”

It's in the cards-DS9
In some ways you could argue it's an episode of B plots but it works for me. The episode fleshes out so many characters. Julian has a teddy bear since he was a child, but it's not long after we find out about his childhood so this adds weight to his attachment.

Leeta refuses to give it back which shows a different side to Leeta than we normally see. She's usually very nice but this time she's not being nice.

A bunch of the characters get small meaningful developments... Kira's putting a lot of effort into that speech, which she wouldn't have bothered with when the show started. Dr Elias Giger brings some humour to the episode but you can believe eccentric fringe scientists doing bizarre things in Star Trek... I suppose it's deceptively good at world building. That is one of the big strengths of the episode.

It's not the only time we see Nog and Jake up to strange bartering negotiations but the amount of trouble Jake is willing to get into to surprise his father is really nice.

That Bajor's negotiations with the Dominion is the actual B plot, playing second fiddle to the character development is odd but works. That sets up for future developments but in this episode as a stand alone we find out lots of odd details about many of the characters... and it gives us the phrase "souless minions of orthodoxy."

Runners up were-"In the Pale Moonlight" (DS9) as well as "Treachery, faith and the great river." (DS9), "Alliances" (VOY) and "Conundrum" (TNG)... I had to look up most of those names.

5. What would be your preferred era of play? TOS, Between TOS and TNG, Early TNG, Post Wolf 359, Dominion War.
I would suggest post Dominion War, after at least DS9 but possibly after Voyager and Nemesis. I'm not saying leading into Star Trek online, my own knowledge of it is hazy, but if it's after these then we have undiscovered country before us. It could be a few weeks, months, years or decades after the end of the Dominion war but there wouldn't be anything restraining the game to not 'break with the plot' as this can be a problem in some licenced games with a timeline.

In broader strokes I'd prefer TNG over TOS but the wild west days of the alpha and beta quadrant have their own charm.

6. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do. If you have a good sample of posts here, I’ll just poke around and see what you have written in real games.
I submitted one up above in part 3, I do think I have a good posting rate but the length of posts can vary significantly.

I am in the other game and am thoroughly enjoying doing the science officer thing. I'd definitely be going for a different position on the ship...

Is this still open? If so:

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign? It sounds like fun!
I've been watching Star Trek since around 1970 and although I love many of the eras, TOS+movies is -my- Star Trek. Two-fisted karate chops, twisted space villains, flying over the bridge railing when the ship is hit, Kirk beating Spock at chess. Wagon Train to the Stars, baby!

2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them? (This isn’t a deal breaker. I just don’t want to be the only one who has the rules)

I don't have them, but am willing to get them.

3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? I'm very consistent. I may not post every single day, but if the game lasts, so will I. I've been running and playing PBP games for as long as there have been PBP games. If I have a "weakness" it's that I prefer a clear narrative (railroads over sandboxes).

4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek (could also be a movie) and why? (This is not a lore test. I don’t care if you know everything about it, or even the name. You could say something like “the one where Data is kidnapped by Lore and the Borg.”

Despite my love of TOS, I think the finest episode of Trek is TNG's "Tapestry", followed by "The Inner Light" both for the way in which they tell two tales, one inner (character development) and one outer (the story). My favorite episodes of TOS are : "Balance of Terror", "Space Seed" and "City on the Edge of Forever", all from the first season, as well as "Mirror, Mirror" and "The Doomsday Machine" from Season 2. Unlike the TNG episodes, these are pure two-fisted adventure, but in which one or more characters must face a moral dilemma that tests their commitment to their ideals or to their own identity.

Best movie: Wrath of Khan, hands-down.

5. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do. If you have a good sample of posts here, I’ll just poke around and see what you have written in real games.

Feel free to poke around, but here are some highlights:

As GM

My game of The One Ring.

My Kingmaker game.

My "Traveller: The New Era" game.

My Ptolus game.

As Player

Berosius, my PFS life Oracle.

Khardan, my warpriest of Arqueros (Carrion Crown)

Cynehelm, my Sorcerer/Priest of Sarenrae (Reign of Winter)

Aldarion the Bold, my nascent PFS transmuter

Moyasmedsev, my droyne "lawyer" in a Traveller game.

I wasn't sure we were going to get enough interest here to field a crew, but it looks like we have some momentum building. I've reached out to some folks from the original thread who didn't show up here yet.

If you guys want to start knocking around ideas for ships, campaign ideas, etc, we could do that.

One idea, that I think is intriguing but not necessarily a great idea, is to piggy-back on my other campaign. That series is set on a Constellation class ship, the Bastion, that entered service during the movie era and has been brought out of mothballs to serve in the Dominion War. It could be fun to play the original crew of that ship during the red jacket era. I dig that sort of meta-narrative, but I understand it isn't for everyone.

Could also do a Miranda class ship doing science stuff, or whatever else. I'm pretty open.

I'm going to drop out of interest. I'm at my gaming limit.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

GM: I had to re-read your post a few times to be sure you didn't mean we'd be playing characters created by others onboard the Bastion. You want to use the Bastion as a set, but for an earlier crew than your other campaign.

In theory I'm fine with that. One consideration: What do you do if we decide to set off the Self-Destruct sequence or crash the ship on planet or set engines to Ramming Speed?

I'd prefer it if the GM had a strong idea for a campaign from the outset. Your mention of the Red Jacket era places the timeline between 2270 (Star Trek: The Motion Picture) and 2364 (TNG), probably before 2344 (The Khitomer Accords). That's a more than seventy-year gap where we don't know much about the details, so that could work, particularly if you place the action on a little-known border such as the Typhon Expanse, the Gorn Hegemony, the Tholian Assembly or some other little-known group. Ideally, the ship is working an area between some unknown border and the Romulan Neutral Zone so we can also have well-known bad guys around.

That said, I'm fine with any era.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Another thought. I went looking for Star Trek Adventures and found they had a living campaign going with lots of free downloadable adventures. Have you checked that out?

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

@Tarondor If we went with the earlier version of the Bastion I'd assume another constellation with a slightly different registration gets the name!

Tactical, Operations and Engineering are all likely choices for me. I am playing a veteran in the other game so a fresh from the academy style character could be fun.

Drawing on the original series, Gorn, Klingons, the First Federation, and material from TNG that is established to have happened before that show began could be great. Who had first contact with the Nausicans or Cardassians could be great fun. Lets avoid Ferengi and Borg... enterprise annoyed me with that kind of stuff. Exploration and action!

Playing in either a Constellation or Miranda class sounds awesome! I think a scientific based mission would be cool as well. I am not a huge fan of the military-themed episodes in the later era of Star Trek (The Dominion War, the Borg, et al.) so something in the exploration vein would be ideal for me.

I have all of the living campaign stuff and the book of adventures, plus most other trek published adventures from Decipher and Last Unicorn, so I have no lack of adventure material. The adventures are pretty open ended and allow for much customization, so we can push the focus in whatever direction appeals to the group. The living campaign is officially set in the Shackleton Expanse, which is close to Romulans and Klingons.

If you want to blow up the ship that’s fine. Not one to let continuity get in the way of a good story.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Not arguing, just stating my own preference: I think the Dominion War arc is the best story in Star Trek. I also like tense military episodes like The Balance of Terror.

I’m good with any position since I’ve never played ST. I’ve tended towards pilot/navigators and soldiers in Traveller, so maybe I’d like to avoid those here. Command, Engineering, medical, token alien or wacky bartender for me!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Episode One: “Whoops! There goes the Ship!”

1. Why do you want to play in this campaign? First of all I am 50 years old so have watched all the trek stories from original to current day and am a huge fan. I played the original and ran the original FASA Star Trek role playing game as well.
2. Are you willing to buy the rules or do you already have them? (This isn’t a deal breaker. I just don’t want to be the only one who has the rules). I can see what I can do but no promises depending on price.
3. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? For Strengths I am a regular posting player and enjoy getting into characters. Weaknesses, sometimes I get sucked into the action so much that my posts become a bit less then they should be in description and length.
4. What is your favorite episode of Star Trek (could also be a movie) and why? (This is not a lore test. I don’t care if you know everything about it, or even the name. You could say something like “the one where Data is kidnapped by Lore and the Borg.” Wrath of Khan as well is my favorite show/movie. Literally is epic and tragic with good comedy as well as fantastic dialogue. As far as TV show wise Bridge to tomorrow for the old series, and any time on Next Generation that they did time travel I had a good laugh at it.
5. If you don’t have a high post count on the site and want to submit a writing sample, please do. If you have a good sample of posts here, I’ll just poke around and see what you have written in real games. Have a polk around and see what you see on my multiple games I am in.

We have Edelsmirge, Tarondor, Eric Swanson, Kevin O'Rourke 440, and maybe Meetch and GM Valen? I feel good about that group. Let's go ahead and talk about ships, character concepts, and mission profiles. I'd like to name the gameplay and discussion threads after the ship, so I think I'll keep discussion here for now.

Alright! I should love to have a constitution class of course, and would enjoy in order:. Chief doctor, chief engineer, and then captain. It would be an experienced Vulcan for me male or female wouldn't matter most likely having a distinguished career but having list their last ship and dealing with the loss of that

Another vote for Constitution class as it easiest to visualize and there is the most material out their for it.

For mission profiles, I think I would prefer classic, 5-year-mission - exploring strange new worlds and seeking out civilizations (but, in reality, just as often shuttling around dignitaries, getting involved in the Neutral Zone, going back in time to save Earth, etc.)

With respect to characters, I like to play them at least slightly flawed.

I wouldn't mind the Captain role. Fitting in with the films, it might be fun to play an old timer, looking for that last, great adventure before he retires and seeking to impart his wisdom on the up-and-coming talent.

The polar opposite, a young, ambitious, and way overly-confident XO could be a lot of fun to play.

A science officer or XO, trying to live up to the reputation of a famous parent or uncle and make a discovery that will validate him in their eyes, but unwittingly treating others as he has been treating--always demanding and expecting perfection and unwilling to accept mistakes from others.

That all being said, I don't know what start date you have in mind, but I expect to be fairly busy through the month of May (and unavailable to post for about the last week in May). If that is an issue, then I may need to adjust my role over the next month or so, or, if a limited capacity for a month doesn't work, bow out completely and hope to get in on the next run.

I am going to take a different tact and suggest either the Miranda class or other research vessel. This would allow us to focus on more science based missions, though I do like the idea of a 5 year mission though. If we decide to go that route then either the Constitution /Enterprise refit would be OK...maybe even the Constellation class that was mentioned earlier would be fun :)

As you may have guessed I am interested in playing the science officer. While a Vulcan is a natural choice, playing a different race would also be intriguing.

What is the deal with Vulcans in Starfleet at this point in the timeline. We know that Spock going to the Academy was considered weird and insulted Sarek. Do we see another Vulcan in Starfleet during the original series? Then we have Saavik and Valeris in the movies. Valeris is the first to finish top of her class. Is there other lore that you guys are aware of?

GM Valen, since you said upthread that you had run the playtest adventure from the main book, I could run that if we start earlier than you are available. It is a nice introduction to the system, and has a very TOS feel, I think.

I really don't care who plays what, or even what roles are covered by the PC group. The fun, I think, is looking for some interesting character interactions and dynamics built into the "show bible."

It is probably also worth asking if there are any dangling threads from TOS that you guys are especially interesting in following up? I definitely have one I want to do, but I'll keep it to myself.

GM SuperTumbler wrote:

The Intrepid comes to mind. I recall reading about various attempts to explain such a large number of Vulcan officers on a Federation ship during TOS, but I don't recall any explanation in canon. I guess I always assumed that once Spock "broke the Vulcan ceiling", there was soon thereafter a dramatic increase in the number of Vulcans applying to and being accepted into Star Fleet, particularly by the Movie Era when Spock's work on the Enterprise would have garnered considerable reknown. I also assumed that this placed even more tension on Spock's relationship with more "traditional Vulcans" like his father.

Sounds reasonable. I don't know what post-rate you anticipate, but I am happy to hop in later if I can't meet it for the first month and it makes the flow of the game better.

GM SuperTumbler wrote:

This. I love a game that complements and builds on canon (or what I think is canon). I also like episodes (and by extension adventures) where prior "inconsistencies" or oddities in canon (for instance, why are there so many Vulcans on a Starfleet vessel when it took Spock defying Vulcan cultural norms just to get him to apply to Starfleet!)are later "explained" or that make you think about old episodes in a new light (Wait? What do you mean an alien race actually constructed the space amoeba? But why?)

GM SuperTumbler wrote:

Hmmm. I will have to give this one more thought.

Looking forward to playing this when I can!

with so many wanting to do vulcan I would be happy to do another race, but simply would like to not go human.

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

I'm going to avoid Vulcan but might actually go human... with a chance of Denobulan or Betazed.

With the concepts I floated above, I was thinking human.

While human seems to be the consensus, I would also be interested in playin an Andorian.

Seems like we have a leaning toward a Constitution class ship. I'm thinking we start around 2285 so that the Klingons are still in play as potential enemies. We will need a name for the ship, and to choose Starship Talents. Constitution class comes with Rugged Design and Modular Laboratories. You get to pick two more. Obviously those tend to interact with the focus of your characters, so it is good to think about them all during creation.

Once we have a name I'll create discussion and gameplay threads so this shows up in our campaigns tab.

Well then Vulcan female it is. 1st choice Dr. 2nd choice chief engineer, 3rd choice captain.

How about Valiant? Valiant was redisigned and retrofitted right at this period with the mk II engine which would be fun.

After noodling things over I think I'll go with an Andorian Helm/Navigator. Should lead to some interesting interplay with the more peaceful races, as he would favor instigating a pre-emptive strike against the Klingons, especially considering the events of the ST III movie.

I have no problem with the name Valiant. It sounds like it would have been refitted to the Enterprise class which is my favorite ship to gaze upon

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Valiant it is!

I'm leaning towards a human male. I'd like a position in command, medicine or engineering.

Created a Campaign, Gameplay, and Discussion threads. Feel free to move over to discussion and work on characters and ship decisions.

So many!

1) The Organians. Kinda like the Q? Maybe? What's with all the super-powerful ancient races? (Greek gods, Nagilum, Trelane, etc.)

2) The Iotians. Do they want a piece of our action?

3) The Energy Barrier at the edge of the galaxy - How'd it get there?

4) The Mirror Universe - Is there only one?

5) The Doomsday Machine - Is there only one?

Hi, yes I am interested in this as well. Sorry I lost this thread. I’ll make a character for this one!

I think the angle of rising tensions with the Klingons and the Federation (as noted at the very beginning of ST IV) would be an interesting angle to pursue. It would be interesting to explore the Organians further, and determine where they came from, and also why they disappeared (as noted in the old FASA timeline).
