Also there'll be some episodic NPCs that you can run if you so desire. With a little instruction.
I may wait for that. Certainly there isn't need to lump them into this introduction, as they'd be lower ranking if nothing else. With the amount of smaller craft we have, I'll likely adopt a helmsman / fighter pilot.

Stardate is (it's 2370) so...47265.34 Around that time
The Dominion were unknown to the Alpha Quadrant powers until the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole in 2369, which facilitated exploration of the Gamma Quadrant. In 2370, Jem'Hadar troops annihilated numerous Bajoran and Federation colonies and ships in the Gamma Quadrant and captured Commander Sisko, as the Dominion demanded the Federation stay on their side of the "anomaly". The lead Federation starship, USS Odyssey, was destroyed by a kamikaze attack, as the Dominion demonstrated not only an alarming ability to penetrate shielding, but a fanatical devotion to their cause as the suicide attack was made on a retreating ship, solely to drive the point home to the Federation. As a result of this incident the Federation pulled the Defiant out of storage, complete with a Romulan cloaking device, and began preparations for a drastic increase in Deep Space Nine's defensive capabilities.

WARNING: Stats for uber-continuity nerds. (Like me. XD)
In terms of just when we are, Star Trek: Generations hasn't happened yet- the Enterprise is still a Galaxy class, though I think work on the Sovereign class is nearing completion.
(The Enterprise E was launched in 2372/stardate 49827.5, according to Memory Alpha, was still around as of 2387 in Star Trek '09, and ultimately wimped apart destroyed by the Undine/Species 8472 in 2408.)
The Intrepid class is also Starfleet's fresh and new science vessel hotness, because Voyager's maiden voyage was in 2371/stardate 48315.6. Of course, we all know what happened to that...
Also, the Nova class (the USS Equinox among others) is also a contemporary vessel.
(sighs, should really open up that Star Trek d20-lite game I was working on one day and actually stat out the Sovereign, Intrepid, Defiant, Nova, Akira, Steamrunner, and Saber class... along with the Excelsior and Miranda classes that Starfleet insists on keeping around a century later because props and CGI models are expensive if they ain't broken don't fix 'em. =p)
Veradiran |
Nah, no worries. Veradiran is not the standard Vulcan, no doubt Cahr has never encountered anyone like him.
Romulans give into to their emotions but still deny quite a bit of them, but lack any history of major control. Vulcans go past control all the way to denial from a young age.
Veradiran's clan is something of a middle ground, they marry the acknowledgement of the emotion to an inhuman ability to ignore the emotion while they accept it and let it add to their thought processes.
If you remember how Spock got when his emotions overwhelmed him in the series, you have some idea how Vulcans with emotions react (or Sarek when he was losing control in TNG), raw unprocessed Vulcan emotion is shocking in it's ability to swing from violence to sadness to happyness to depression.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I just realised that I'm not sure how well-known the Trill/Symbiont relationship actually is at this point in our timeline. The TNG episode "The Host" is in 2367, and Deep Space 9's introduction of Jadzia Dax would only have been in the last year or two. Feel free to roleplay as you deem appropriate. I'm expecting some interesting things when we get to DS9 and I encounter Dax.

Yeah, I'd rather have someone who admits they are emotional and develops ways to deal with it and accepts it, than someone who lives in a perpetual state of denial and then loses it at the worst possible time. :)
Update profile to show training and degrees.
So, from what I can tell, Veradiran would have the following stats (as compared to humans)
STR : x3 (x5 in a rage, like pon farr)
DEX : x1
CON : x1.5 to x2
INT : x1.5
WIS : x1
CHA : x1
Some interesting facts about vulcans. They have a nictating membrane, that makes them highly resistant to blidness from light. Their bloodpressure is all but non-existent, meaning they don't bleed out quickly like humans. Their heart may or may not be on the right and below the rib cage. Spock's was, but then, he had a hybrid physiology. A heart not protected by ribs would seem to be a bad biological idea. :) Vulcans are 3 time stronger than humans, but can range up to 5 times stronger in a rage.
Vulcans are immune to the effects of alcohol, however, large quantities of sucrose and fructose can affect a Vulcan as if they were drunk (also chocolate has the same effect).
Vulcans are touch telepaths, and can shield their minds from other empaths and telepaths if they are trained. (Veradiran normally doesn't bother, especially around Betazeds, as he's found they grow irrational if they can't feel the emotions of others. Then again, they grow irrational if they can feel a Vulcan's emotions, so bleh). :)
Vulcans have extremely strong emotions, and much of their history was extremely violent as a result.
Veradiran has a large collection of hand-to-hand weapons, inlcuding a Katana, a Bat'leth, a Mek'leth, an Ahn'woon, a Lirpa, and a Cutlass.
He's also got a few ranged weapons, a Dueling Pistol (black powder) from Earth's 18th century. An Andorian plasma rifle as well. Also an Orion disruptor pistol.

In regards to "Things we can do 'in canon'."
I have weird idess and I am unsure as to either how probable or how 'Trekish' they might be. When I have more time I'll post them.
One thing I note is the star fighter parts..... spare parts are all well and good... but with out a way of 'replicating' pilots...... then they'll just be tech sitting on the deck...
Veradiran |
Yep, the GM said we had facilities to manufacture on the ship (Nanofactories I'm assuming). So if we have the raw materials, we can manufacture parts. The only parts we should need are things our nanofacs can't handle, like Dilithium or Dibhoron or other unstable stuff.
The other advantage to raw material instead of parts is, we can manufacture what we need, instead of needing to guess what we'll need ahead of time, and can use that raw material to manufacture fighter parts, shuttle parts, ship parts, weapon parts, whatever. We can't get a fighter engine to work as a phaser, but we can use the raw material for a single fighter phaser to make two or three phaser rifles if we need them.

Now that I have a keyboard and a small window of time.
Grrazz would be seeking to issue grenade launchers to the Marines. (Am trying to find an old FASA tech guide image.) Note, things other than explosives can be mounted within a grenade shell. :P
Modifying the main deflector dish to emit (Fire) pulses of gravitons. (Yes, I've seen Starblazers too many times :P)
How 'new' is the holographic doctor and relevant programming? I have an idea for a 'Holographic marine', though such 'robot' troopers would probably not fly given the Federation's history, experiences etc.
Just some thoughts for now. :)

In regards to 'Other' characters....?
I have an idea for a fighter pilot. Might it be all right to go ahead and generate them and their wing-man/person?
Hoping people feel better soon. Wishing every one all the very best. :)
The production values on the Axenar thing look great. If it becomes a full blow reality then, yay! :)

Not sure what you're talking about. If it's a link, I missed it. Maybe any links could be added to the top of the game page (let me know if you don't know how to put links at the top of the game page).
