I know some of you are in the Zolurket game too, but I'm going to cross-post here as well (and more Viking possibility too).
We're looking for two new characters for a Jade Regent game I'm in. Still very early in the adventure (only through one encounter area so far). If you're interested, see GM Will Cooper (RPG Superstar Top 16 this year) at the discussion thread:
Jade Regent Discussion Thread
Existing characters are a Varisian Cavalier (me) and an Ulfen Ranger.
The other one died? That's too bad. I'd have thrown my hat in as well but I'm already in a Jade Regent game. I'm holding out for some Skulls and Shackles now that the Player's Guide is out.
I'm watching for Skull & Shackles too. Got a half-elf Inquisitor of Besmara idea I'm toying with for that. I'm probably going to run another one soon too. Running a Council of Thieves campaign right now.
Probably an appropriate juncture to do a cross-post to my DM'ed PbPs about an interruption to my posting schedule that is imminent.
My wife is about 37 weeks pregnant, which basically means that the bun is fully cooked and ready to pop at any time. This means that at some point in the next 1 day to 4 weeks I will suddenly and without notice disappear completely from the interwebs. I can't say when or for how long, but it will probably knock me out for up to a week or so before my wife and I get back on our feet and I'm of somewhat sound and untired enough mind to jump back online.
So if I do vanish, please don't fret as I shall return :) I would just ask for some patience for a while as we adjust to the new baby floating around. I'll get ourselves sorted at home first, then recommence with the DM'ing once we're all squared away and back in some sort of a new-born 'sequence' again.
I didn't want to presume the group walks away, if someone wanted to club the fisherman. Gylfir is fine believing they can just leave. If another wants to knock him out, he would be fine with that. But would be disappointed if someone just kills him, but would not interfere.
I was thinking of thunking the soft Southerner on the head, but there did not appear to be much in the way of loot by the looks of the shack. Are we here only for food, or do we want to attack and plunder the village?
I was thinking getting word back about the village. I am not sure if the Hurlcars have a particular target.
And yeah. I didn't see the point in looting this guy, just a poor fisherman, unless he is some form of the watch and then a thunking might be in order. It just wasn't going to be Gylfir who does it.
Black Úlfarr isn't necessarily as bloodthirsty as he sounds, but he doesn't have any other ideas that would let us continue scouting with minimal risk and figures the huscarls will be pissed if we leave someone alive to alert the village and possibly the coast.
Have a brief period of quiet at home with our 3 year old while my wife's sister is on duty at the hospital.
Our wee one was born in the early hours this morning and both mum and bub are resting up and doing fine. Unfortunately a C-sect so recovery will be a bit longer, but have family in town to help out which will make it alot easier as we run shifts at hospital helping out.
Obviously will still be a few days before brain is rested enough and have adequate time to make sense of anything, but wanted to let y'all know that the delivery went fine.
Outstanding Mark! Congratulations! I understand the whole C-Section recovery time. Boh of my boys were C-Sections. Enjoy the very special time.
Dear wife was trying for a VBAC after number 1 was an unnecessarian, but unfortunately the wee one was frank breech and her waters broke naturally before labor really started. Resultant labor went very quickly and he just wasn't descending by the end - hence the c-sec. But already a much more positive experience than the last, so we can look back and not feel any regrets.
Wife and Bub continue to do well and all things considered should hopefully be back in our own home as of tomorrow. Will see how the home-life settles out before committing to a specific time for wading back online so will keep you posted on when that occurs and we'll start this wee beastie back up.
Wow...unbelievably similar circumstance with our second. After water broke, he presented fist first. Needless to say, the examining nurse was quite surprised, an immediate C-Section resulted. Hang tough, guy!
Back home with wife and baby boy and things continue to go well. You might have noticed that I've stepped back into the PbPs that I play in; and if things continue to go well I'll be back DMing in the next couple of days.
Just want to make sure that when I do re-start that I'm able to commit wholehearted and get things rolling with the quality and focus that I'd like.
So if I can test your patience for just a mite longer that would be much appreciated.
Right-o boys, I'm fully recharged and ready to get this boat sailing southward in search of plunder once more. Many thanks to ye for putting up with the momentary disturbance due to child, and things might still be a bit rangy for a while as I've visitors for another two weeks - but I'm itching to get going.
Even did some shopping for inspiratory material today, picking up Last of the Mohicans; make of that what you will....
Should be reasonably clear by now - but for scenes like this I prefer to let you guys lead and the NPCs will catch up at the end of the 'round'. Tis your story after all.
Just a heads up for my fellow vikingr and All Father DMVoV... moving hoose this week Wed/Thurs, but prep underway already - posting may suffer (dependent on work access) so if you need to move the plundering on, don't let the devrgr hold you up :)
Hopefully y'all are finding the village assault suitably cinematic / enjoyable. Pity that the keg didn't break over Torgeir's noggin - but ye roll with the punches ;)
No interwebbage currently at new home (country living in Scotland!) and work is a beast presently, so Jarl VoV may have to bot me a wee while longer...
For reference, rather than keep a stock of trade goods - I am going to take a leaf out of Skull and Shackles and track it as Plunder. So from the village you get three points of plunder: 1 for the tools and iron from the forge; 1 for the booze from the church; and a third for the general valuables plundered from the houses.
Once you make your way back to the main village then you'll get some further direct loot to you guys as well.
Just a note - had today off work and hence the lackage of posts. Weekends being weekends with chidlets makes it hard to get a decent post in also. It will improve over time, but at present my evenings are curtailed with the amusement of one that does not sleep much.
So apologies, update will be incoming as soon as able - but might not be until later this weekend.
