Spooky GM's Wrath of the Righteous

Game Master Silvertounge

From my understanding, it's typically two traits total: One normal trait, and one trait which HAS to be a campaign trait.

Hey I'm hotaru's friend posting my character I'm still working on personality and description but the back story and stats are on the profile, she'd most likely be a trickster and her general combat roll is a front line damage dealer but could change to something like disarm if needed.

If this is still open I would like to humbly apply.

Peter will be going for the Champion slot though other Martial inclined paths are possible.

Class: First level as a Maneuver master monk and then Lore Warden/Martial Master fighter after that. Flexibility is Peter's watchword. While he will be quite capable of bringing a good deal of direct damage to the table he will really shine soon.through his ability to cripple opponents defenses allowing the other party members to attack with impunity.

It is a personal goal as a player to so hamstring an opponent that the Wizard feels confident enough to whack them with their quarterstaff.

Crunch, and background to follow in a few hours. Campaign trait will be Stolen fury. Race is either human or Halfling. I have never played a halfling martial and Kobold style looks to be quite effective.....

In any case please consider this a dot. Actual application coming soon.

Hmm, none of the other paths would really fit Salomae very well since she's an arcanist and at this stage in the game I'm not sure if I'll write up a second character to submit. There's still some time before tomorrow though, so I'll be thinking it over.

If anyone needs more than roughly 26 hours tell me now, because otherwise I will close recruitment at 6-7 PM EST. I did not note peoples' second choices on the roster list just for the sake of de-cluttering, but I do have them on the Notepad.

@Hung Dong: Like Hotaru mentioned, you choose the Hierophant trait. If you read the campaign traits again you'll notice they're each associated with a specific path; that's because you'll be on that path once you ascend.

@Hotaru: It's two total, but I figure plenty of people have characters built under different build rules for other recruitments, so I'm not being too picky about noting and making people change things to fit mine until after they've been selected. Which I assumed was what the third trait meant.

Archmage:
-Calder Fable, Aasimar Sorceror
-Jenael Autumnhorn, Aasimar Arcanist
-Mekel, Elven Wizard
-Salomae Amsel, Aasimar Arcanist

Champion:
-Cinna Blackthorn, Human Paladin (Holy Tactician) of Sarenrae
-Alken Karenlith, Catfolk Bloodrager (Primalist)

Guardian:
-Elias Wolfen, Human Ranger (Divine Hunter)
-Jens Varmodsson, Human Cavalier (Honor Guard)
-Thomas Vinland, Human Cleric of Desna

Hierophant:
-Anarya, Aasimar Oracle (Dual-Cursed) of Iomedae
-Carious Resana, Aasimar Inquisitor of Cayden Cailean
-Delkar Kross, Human Cleric of Sarenrae
-Godwin Solace, Aasimar Warpriest of Iomedae
-Hung Dong, Monk
-Lily Taharial, Aasimar Oracle (Purifier) of Iomedae

Marshal:
-Eibon Elders, Aasimar Paladin of Iomedae
-Olivia Wormwood, Tiefling Paladin (Divine Hunter) of Sarenrae
-Steave Rojerz, Half-Elf Ranger (Freebooter/Skirmisher)
-Vardan Argider, Aasimar Cavalier (Emissary)

Trickster:
-Elmae Valmia, Aasimar Swashbuckler (Flying Blade)
-Indrana, Tiefling Bard
-Kaylee Fable, Human Swashbuckler
-Loric Solnebren, Human Rogue (Sanctified)
-Milhar Korashi, Elven Rogue

Twenty-six hours should be enough for me, at least. =P

Stats will be done once I'm home. (All that's left is to finish typing them up, as you can see on her alias page, and the sheet's uploaded on Google Docs.)

I will say that this backstory made me do some research on demons and other assorted nasty little creatures, so...it was interesting to do, to say the least.

Alrighty, was just double checking. I'd love to have grabbed hold of Kin Bond to torture Kaylee with, if selected. :) Part of the ship, part of the crew, and all that... :3

On the note of making another character, I -love- making more. But I feel it's better to stick to the one since I'm apping with someone else, and having to shift backstories and such to make it make sense would be a mess. :)

I've refined Milhar a good deal. She is someone I'd be proud to play so thanks for setting the bar so high everyone.

Reading between the lines, I guess there will be an opportunity for the party to compare and balance skills a little so that we don't have any glaring omissions or redundancies?

Cheers
FW

Appearance:

Calastri Clitus has an athletic build, bright green eyes, Platinum Blond hair, and dusky purple skin. She has strong but not masculine jawline. She has a slender nose neither too pointy nor too long.

Character Backstory:

Born to the head of a small house, Lustaria who turned from worshiping Demon lords to worshiping the Goddess Calastria. Calastri Clitus was to be the first hi priest of Calastria of a Drow noble house in some time, if ever. Thus she was blessed upon her birth buy the worshipers of Calastria. But the Drow's hate Elves and the Elven god is despised just as well. Another house seeking to embarrassed Lustaria, stole Calastri Clitus the eldest daughter of house Lustaria. At just five years old Calastri Clitus was kidnapped from her family and demonic rituals were performed on her. However due to the blessing of Calastria these ritual could not harm her. After failing to damage house Lustaria and being thoroughly embarrassed, its rivals waited and bidded their time. For ten years Lustaria's enemies waited and planned. On Calastri Clitus thirteenth birthday Lustaia's enemies saw their chance to rid themselves of a rival. For this birthday marked her ascension in the house hierarchy to a priestess of Calastria. Using the Drow dislike of Elves and their gods to rally support, they attacked in the middle of the ceremony. During the attack on their estate the house matriarch and her first born daughter, Calastri Clitus managed to escape. Fleeing Drow territory to the surface, the matriarch left her daughter at the temple of Calastria and headed back to Drow territory, to rebuild her house.

Growing up in the presence of priests and prostitutes of Calastria, Calastri aspired to be like them. For seven years she followed the path of the priestess but soon realized it was not for her. For her heart burned for some, for action of some sort. So she turned to the path of the prostitute to cool the heat of her blood. However this only lasted for a decade before Calastri found she wanted more. That her lust had only grown to a lust for violence. So Calastri Clitus seeing her path change once more decided to change professions, always staying within the church of Calastria. Thus she decided to train as a Paladin of Calastria. This was her most glorious choice and she revealed in the sex blood and excess which came her position. She held this glorious position for two decades until her thoughts turned to her mother and her fallen house.

So Calastri Clitus went on quest to reestablish her house in worship and service of Calastria. Upon her return to Drow lands she learned of her mothers fate. That she had returned to find nothing left of her house or her family, and was taken by her enemies and sacrificed to a demon. Learning this Calastri sought vengeance, a domain of her god. And with her blessing she sneaked into the grounds of the house that had plotted the fall of her family. While they were sleeping she slaughtered every man woman and child of noble. However she did not escape unscathed, she was dealt a near severe wound. By the time she had made it back to the surface she was near dead. She only survived by a chance meeting with a Warpriest, who over many months nursed her back to health. Realizing that she could be a priest and a warrior she decided this was the path for her.

After studying and becoming a warpriest Calastri Clitus sets out to do her gods bidding by seeking her vengeance upon the demon lords, for both her treatment and the death of her mother.

@Milhar: Yes, I usually let people make any changes they need to make up until their very first die roll, and given how the game opens there'll be at least a day for people to coordinate and even things out.

The Exchange

Good stuff.

Random note of curiosity..Why do star knives cost so much compared to daggers? The price difference seems outrageous, especially when daggers seem to be better in every regard.

Those Desnan weaponsmiths have cornered the market...

Mostly the same slight alteration to the backstory to better fit the campaign trait. Also the elimination of the extra trait.

The extra price is the "Cool" tax, because star knives look much cooler than a standard dagger? :)

@Calastria/Hung/Idont: Calastria is CE, and there's no evil characters allowed. Your Dhampir lacks a backstory. That's three characters you've posted, but you're not allowed more than two.

Better range. Higher damaging crits when they happen. But can't be hidden as well. But loses damage typing... and become martial. Crits balance out, the range and damage type could be swapped pretty evenly. Hiding on person is pretty edgecase. Which means they're roughly equal.

I've got no idea. But... cool tax definitely fits. Ask a warpriest of Desna what's so special about it if you ever meet one :)

I think daggers have better range, don't they? Star knives have more crit damage, but only crit on a.20, while daggers crit on a 19 & 20, if I remember right. Not to mention being loads cheaper.=P

Appearance:

Not lacking the Green skin or fair feature of an Elf, Mahd has a physique resembling something closer to a humans. Not nearly as lythe as your average Elf, he has broad shoulder and a strong jaw line. The violet eyes are unique and some believe they are related to portents of his birth. Although his face is still fair, his body bears the scars of the battles of his youth. But with those scare come the intense training and trials of an Orcish upbringing. Although the style of his hair has often changed to his condition his lax years of learn and growing in Rostav he has let his hair grow shoulder length, he often lets it flow free.

Character Backstory:

Born to an elicit affair between an Elven noble woman and a secret worshiper of Nulgreth during a blood moon, Mahd was seen as a bad omen. Due to his scandalous nature of his conception and the blasphemies committed by his father he was left to die of exposure in the wilderness outside on the border of Orcish lands.

Mahd was saved before succumbing to the elements by a Tiger, this ferocious beast rather than devouring this child brought him back to his master. This Tiger turned out to be the spirit animal of the most powerful Shaman in the region. Seeing this as an omen and recognizing the babies strength for surviving so long, the Half-Orc Shaman decided to raise him as his own.

Being an Elf raised among Orcs was a trying experience for Mahd. The other children both feared and hated him. He often spent time alone to nursing his wounds and avoiding bullying from the others. On one ocassion he wandered too far and found himself on the other side of the world wound. He was rescued by a mysterious woman, who fought furiously and brought him out alive. Although she disappeared soon after they were on the right side of the world wound, one think that he will never forget about her was the symbol of Desna around her neck.

Being raised by Orcs it is needless to say the bullying he endured as a child was violent, especially when it came to the males. His relationship with the female Orcs was quite different, they were very split on him. Some found exotic and beautiful while other found him effeminate and hardly even a male at all. One day in his teen this prompted him to him to prove his masculinity and the oddest and most bold of ways. After a group of Orcs teased him about not being a man he exposed himself to them. To the jaw dropping surprise of the other, he was a male and massively disproportionately one to. From then on even though they still bullied him regularly the question of his sex was no longer an issue. In fact if it did anything it made his male contemporaries quite jealous, and thus more aggressive and violent toward him. As for the female well they only found him to be of use for one thing. Swifter and more muscular than your average Elf he often able to handle himself against the average Orc. However he often lost to the larger ones, he was able to level the playing field against most by wearing armor. This did not prevent him from being harmed by groups, although group attacks rarely happened due to a fear of his patron and the general fear of being perceive a having to need to attack in groups.

This all changed around the age of 25 when Mahd started developing arcane powers. The bullying of the other in clan doubled and the females became reluctant to be seen with or talk to Mahd in public, although they would often come to see the Elf in private. At first the now old shaman was pleased at the new powers thinking that Mahd might one day make a great shaman and win great Glory for the clan. But he became dismayed when he realized the nature of this powers were different from his own, arcane and Elven. It became worse when the other realized Mahd’s powers and their nature. Many in the clan wanted the Elfling exiled or sacrificed, the Shaman refused for he had faith in his spirit animal and would not dishonor it. However when the Shaman died of old age everything changed. In order to prove himself Mahd had to fight biggest and strongest of the Orcs in single combat for leadership of the clan.

This fight was what every Orc feared and lived for, that fateful day when his battle prowess would determine his future. The odds though were against Mahd as big as he was 6’ and 210 lb, massive
For an Elf he stood no chance against his opponent Grog. Grog was at least 7’ and 310lb and fast too. They had fought a few times in youth and even with armor he could never seems to defeat the big Orc. Refusing to run he accepted the challenge fought Grog with all his might. Mahd caused massive injuries to the huge Orc but Grog just kept coming, no matter how much damage he dealt it was never enough to even slow the enormous Orc. Finally on his knees waiting for the final blow he lash out and the power came and Grog was knock back 15 feet and left unconscious. The others were stunned not knowing what happened, the only thing they could understand was that this was impossible and that Mahd had somehow cheated. So they threw stones at him, chased him out of the village and banish him from the clan.

After losing the man who raised him and being exiled from the tribe he grew up in, Mahd traveled the world searching for a purpose. A place where he could achieve the glorious destiny envisioned by the old Shaman. Much of his time during his travels was spent expanding and honing his martial and magical skills. Trading on his skill in either to make his living. In his search for acceptance and glory he visited many temples of many different gods. Among his favorites were Nethys, Desna, and Nulgreth. His breadth of travel is not to be underestimated it must nearly be 9000 miles.

Around the age of 110 he found a child wondering the wilderness, he promptly returned the child to its parents. This sparked a memory in him, recalling his youth and lady who saved him and decided that his purpose should be helping with the world wound.

This competition is so fierce this time around
@.@ So many amazing characters...

There's also the Spherewalker prestige class, which requires starknife proficiency and lets you use them as though they have Returning by second level. All in all they're kind of a weird weapon.

@Mahd Gajol: And that's the fourth character now, still not answering any of my questions.

Mmm, might take a look at that class, Spooks, though it might render a blinkback belt useless.

Never useless as long as your party has some daggers and an empty slot. :)

Wow, that's an interesting prestige class, and it only takes five levels...Neat.

Also, daggers are a 10 foot range, while starknives have 20 feet, is what I meant :)

And yeah. I especially like Landmark. There's just something about always knowing how to find home...

Here is the offering for markofbane. Molasbar is a tiefling wizard bound for the Archmage path. He wouldn’t pursue any prestige classes or multiclassing as he grows. He’ll mainly be a buffer style character, with a strong knowledge base (by third level, he’ll have at least +10 in all knowledge skills). I still need to stat out his centipede familiar, but other than that he is ready.

The butterfly swarm is a beautiful and flavorful ability in my mind, not to mention being incredibly useful.

You literally just posted every single character on your alias page...

I think he is either trolling or unable to read

@Spooky GM
I thought you were allowed more than two characters if they had different Mythical Paths. So I submitted 6 for each path, In order to max my chances, plus I'm new to this so making more character's can't hurt me. Although I might bug for some pointers.

Calastria is Chaotic Neutral, if I mistakenly made any of my characters chaotic evil I apologize they should be chaotic neutral.

I meant the prestige class I should have noted that, my bad. That would also for my other characters. The Monk doubles into Champion of Irori/the enlightened, the Gnome has the Arcane Savant prestige class.

As far as the lack of backstory for a couple of the characters, two are still being written and I need to retrieve the rest. I should have they should be posted by the original deadline.

Well, I've only submitted one character (Jens), so I might toy around with another concept I've been mulling over. I'm sorry for not maintaining a more active presence on this thread - life threw a few things at me, and my mental state plummeted for a while. I think I'm on top of things now, though. :-)

Even if I can't get a second character together in the time limit, I'm happy with the submission I've got in. Rereading the original post, I'd like to clarify that Jens may not seem like the heroic, good-for-good's-sake type, but he'll get there, and quickly. He's a bit on the world-weary side, just hoping for death in battle, but as soon as the party is in danger - particularly if anyone is around the age of 25 or younger - he'll focus on making sure everybody is safe. It's just been a while since he's had something worth fighting to protect.

Elmae's nineteen!.:D

If we're allowed more than one I might throw in one more. It's the character I made for the other game where it's Gestalt so I will have to strip all of that out of her.

@LetcherMan69: Kind of like I said when you applied for my game, it seems like you're in a rush to just throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks. You'd have a better chance crafting two really interesting characters with fleshed out personalities and back stories than you would just taking the shotgun approach.

But you are right, Callistra is CN.

"Nineteen... I remember when I was your age, lass. I was a fool, thinking I was strong enough to handle everything the world threw at me. I'd been out on my own for four years by that point, fighting my way across the Inner Sea for coin. Nearly got myself killed more than once. Can't go letting the same happen to you, so just stay back - us old dogs will handle this..."

(I try to go for fatherly, with the unintended side effect of being patronizing. He doesn't mean to be that way, he's just still bitter over the loss of his children.)

Nah, it's fine. No need to apologize at all! Elmae's gone through.some things, but most people will only see her optimistic side for a while. Suffice to say, she has a few demons of her own.

Oh yea forgot a personality description for Carious. He'll mostly be a cheery joking sort who loves a good drink but when demons threaten innocents, he will defend them to the death. Otherwise he'll be taunting the demons in battle.

@Jen - But what if someone is technically older than he is (aasimar/tiefling) but young by their race's standards? :)

Also glabrezus are his archnemesis and he might fly into a (non-mechanical) rage and do whatever it takes to murder it.

Good question. The last game he was in, there was a dwarf ranger who was technically only a couple of years younger than him. While she was young for a dwarf, she was more mature than a human of the 'equivalent' age. He treated her as such - he was still protective towards her, but treated her as more of an adult than a child. There was still a hint of the general fatherly attitude coming through, but that's just the way the character is. That's a very good question, though, and not one I've been able to fully explore yet. Hopefully I'll have a chance to do so! :-)

A Human Summoner who thinks his eidelon is his dead sister, eligible for both guardian and archmage.

Do you have anything against the dual path feat?

Oddly enough, I think Calder would pick up Vanishing Move, Transfer Magic, and Path Dabble for Mighty Summons in addition to her Archmage goodies. I thought about grabbing Hierophant, but Mighty Summons was effectively all I cared for aside from Sustained by Faith (which is cool).

@Letcherman: I even tried to interrupt you partway through to tell you that you were only allowed two characters at the most. If you're new to this whole thing and trying to churn out characters solely to try and sextuple your chances of selection, I think this might not be the game for you, as it's intended to be a bit heavier on the roleplaying side of things than you might be able to handle.

@El Ronza: No worries, there's no need in my mind to keep active in the thread if your character is all settled in, and it seems like everything that needed to be asked about Jens got answered.

@Hotaru: No, I don't have anything against the Dual Path feat.

I'm glad to hear that, Spooky. I just know most GMs like people to stay active in the thread and ask questions. I'm glad my lack of doing so won't impact my chances. :-)

If I get in, I might shuffle my point-buy a little (last GM's rules were no stat above a 17), but other than that, my character's pretty much done. Also, one thing I forgot to ask - do you enforce ability score modifiers for characters of middle-age or higher? I know doing so cripples my character somewhat, but I'm happy to roll with it if that's your ruling.

I usually leave that up to the player, since it would otherwise discourage seasoned martial characters.
