Avicia looks calmly at the young gathered before her and speaks...
I come bearing good news, an opportunity has come forth one that could lead the boilers out of this hellhole and to a new life... I've gotten a job going to investigate some ship that was thought lost but has reappeared suddenly. The man who's hiring me ain't willing to pay enough to justify sailing the ship back to him, so I got a plan ye see... The ship he had was the crown jewel of his fleet, a massive four master galleon complete with enchanting to it's hull. Not quite one of those fancy knife-ear's galleons but still a handsome prize.
Trouble is getting the ship to here, to do that I need a crew of some sort. Doesn't have to be a full crew, doesn't have to be a crew that's experienced. All this crew has to be capable of is stowing away aboard the ship that will be taking us to where this "lost" ship was seen and then take the vessel itself from where it is to here in Port Krez.
I am not denying that it will be dangerous, such undertakings as this always are. However we need to if were going to live, none of us rightfully deserves what has befallen us. I didn't deserve to be strapped to a stake and nearly be burned to death by damn zealots, you all don't deserve to be rotting because you were born with strange marks on your faces or because your changelings. Yet the world isn't going to jump up and take pity on us, no if were going to have a better life we gotta carve it out of old eberron's hide... Who will join me in this undertaking?

Illyri |
When the party is done divvying up the loot, Illyri will offer to go fence the other goods, stating she knows a guy. If no one objects, she will spend the rest of the evening fencing the goods, then going to sleep

The Rake chuckles. "We all yearn to see greater horizons the Traveler has in store for us, Sister. But Brother Rotscale would not take kindly to the Den being emptied."
The stunted scaled leader of the Boilers seems to materialize from nothing in front of the hearth. "You arre riight, child." his mollifying voice sounds like a snake sliding over stone. He raises a large scaled hand, tufts of hair protruding from gaps in the scales. "Threee. You maay taake threee chiildren, Ssister."
Perusing the volunteers you have:
Ragamuffin- female halfling, affiliation to fungus/spores
Zo- changeling, pickpocket with a keen eye for magical trinkets
Amethyst Damir- male half-elf, powers of crystals and vibrations
Whisper Jack- male human, sometimes seems almost translucent
Sprat- female shifter, agile hunter
Ember- male gnome, pyromaniac
Jade and Ruby- female dwarf twins, their prey tend to become more wounded than most other Boiler encounters
Bubo- male halfling, affinity for rats
Boogey Bog- male half-orc, terrifying visage, older than the Rake, but dim-witted
Brother Rotscale's reptilian eye glows beneath his hood. His gaze falls upon you, one glowing yellow orb, the other haunting grey but otherwise normal. "Whaat iss the naame of the sshiip, Ssister?" He watches while you make your decisions.

The ship be the Emperor of the Waves, now though we need to decide who comes along and how we are going to get the ship to port... Or if we are going to go another route, I fear that if we hauled the ship here the Cloudreavers might decide to take it for themselves. Before we proceed what ports in the Principalities would be good choices to dock the ship?
DragonBlood472 |
Brother Rotscale eyes you with a sinister grin of pride.
The rowdier patrons of the Doorstep start to wind down, retiring to their rooms or stumbling back out into the drizzle. Smiley nods to his manager, and the inebriate dwarf shuffles behind the bar, stepping up on a raised platform to survey the tavern. Smiley gives a cursory glance to the room before walking to the stairs that ascend to his quarters. His daughter continues to cater to the remaining guests, refilling drinks and chatting with other regulars gripped with insomnia.

The ship was spotted in The Gray Tide, so that is our general area to work with. Now the fact of the matter is I know four people isn't going to be enough to move the ship anywhere. The people I am traveling with however could be convinced to join in our little excursion... Even the Halfling dragonmarked will, as while she might like our current "patron" I suspect that her heart may be a little to "open" to stay loyal to Aubreck for long...
As for the others I know how to make them join up, the goblin mercenary just seems interested in gold. The sum we are being offered is a big one, if we return the ship 300 galifars a piece, but we all known a ship like the Emperor is worth far more then such a pittance... The other two are a wizard and a thief of some sort, they look like opportunists to me and they would take the ship if given the chance.
One person however is absolutely key to this and that is the captain of The Soul of Winter, the ship that will be bringing us to the Tide. All I know he is a dwarf and not a cloudreaver, he isn't overly fond of joining the fleet of his brother dwarves from what I understand. I need to know more about him, anything that could allow me to turn him into an ally. I hope your up to the task Rake, this won't be an easy task and killing Aubreck to get the ship is only to be done if things go south...
As she speaks Avicia turns to Zho and speaks encouragingly, sister I know you can perform the cute act like no one else... Can you pull a cute but dirty and down on her luck Halfling girl for me?
DragonBlood472 |
The Rake grins, "So Sister are we boarding the Winter seen or unseen?"
Avicia |
Avicia turns to Zho and smiles, genuinely pleased. Good work that will melt the halfing's heart...
Rake I believe you and I need to have a night on the town, you can dig up the knowledge we need and I can gut anything that makes the mistake of getting too close...
Micha d'Jorasco |
Page, singular and it's not my fault if the DM can't keep up with multiple conversations :P
Micha smiles pleasantly and glances to Alistair before speaking, "He's just retired, perhaps it is best if I fetch him for you instead of intruding into his personal space with strangers."
Micha steps away and approaches the bar, "Pardon me, could you please tell me which room belongs to the man who has paid for our rooms? There is someone out here who wishes to speak with him."
Alistair Creed |
Alistair stands back from the conversation, keeping a careful eye on the attractive half-orc. Clearly lacking the social niceties enough to not introduce himself, the wizard will pick his teeth through most of their conversation. Shrugging when Micha looks his way, and having lost interest when it seemed the trap springer was only looking for work, he'll summon some polite chatter when she leaves to find their employer.
"So, uh... you been in the Principalities long?"
He'll ask, admiring her eyes.
Larra "The Lock" d'Tharashk |
The half-orc flashes her amber eyes at Alistair. "About three winters, now. Damn Khyber-bound pirates always hunting for the next great find, or when they don't, there are always those higher up willing to pay to bring them back, so the work is steady, if not admirable. I'm Larra. And you are?"
Alistair Creed |
"Hey, work is work. It's why I dragged by sorry butt out here. My names Alistair, it's a pleasure."
He'll say, suddenly interested again. Alistair will flash her his most charming roguish smile and step closer, offering a firm handshake.
Alistair Creed |
Forgetting for a moment about her more than unusual accessory, Alistair will spare a quick look at it, not one of displeasure, merely bemusement. Plopping unceremoniously in his seat, he'll begin,
"Oh you know, pretty typical around these parts I imagine. Wandered here hopin' ta make some quick coin. Imma Wizard..."
He says the word wizard quietly, but obviously takes great pride in the title.
"Not a Magewright or what have you, the real deal. Trouble is, you need a boat-load o' permits and memberships if you wanna make a living at it back in Sharn, and all that parchment costs some serious coin. I'm not really one for "orders" and "councils" but a guys gotta eat, even if he can bend the laws of life and death with a whisper. So here I am, talking to you beautiful, and all the happier for it."
He'll punctuate his last sentence with a goofy smile befitting such a line and give her a corny wink, chuckling mostly at himself.
Larra "The Lock" d'Tharashk |
Larra laughs, a hearty full chuckle that displays both her feminine and orc natures. "So then, Master of Life and Death, are you going to summon a girl a drink from the Great Beyond, or just bother Marley for something to drink while we converse?" The half-orc smiles, her keen eyes glancing over you and your remaining companions in turn.
Alistair Creed |
"You'd be surprised..."
Alistair will say with a wry smile. He'll pull a small brown book from inside his overcoat, flipping through it a few times.
"I've got the "recipes" here for some of the best booze money can buy. You say the word and I can get you a Thranian whiskey. A fine Aundairian wine more your style? I've even got my favorite crappy Breland lager in here. Course I can't change the texture of the drink, just the flavor so it helps ta order something close to what you're lookin' for. I'll get us started with a lager, trust me you'll like it."
He'll flag down Marley with for a couple of beers, curious to see how long this beauty will indulge him.
"So, I shared mine, why not share yours? Where are ya from? I'm interested."
He'll say with smile, his dark eyes glittering.

The dwarf nods in your direction, and promptly shuffles over with two mugs in tow. He sets them on your table and then slowly makes his way back to his perch.
Avicia |
Avicia picks up her boarding pike and will accompany the rake throughout the night to find out the information needed... She will maintain Explosive Shield constantly.
While doing this she will also buy a large sack, preferably the sturdiest variety available. She will also buy as many rations as she can fit in and still fit in Zho as well in addition to a rolled up hammock suited for an individual of Zho's size...

Larra "The Lock" d'Tharashk |
Larra takes the mug and kicks back a heavy drink before starting. "I was born in the Marches, my Da is a gaeth'ad house master, my Ma a jhorgun'taal of Aashta like me. I was always snooping and getting into trouble. My 'mark came early and my folks got me entry to the Finder's Guild before I was even of age. Spent most of my youth in the Reaches and the Marches, going back and forth through the Byshek range. Made a couple of bad mistakes and found it more encouraging to leave the Finders for a bit. Traveled, and found myself in the Principalities, where the jobs come easy but aren't always something you want to muck your boots with."
Illyri |
Illyri quietly slips out, the loot wrapped up in her cloak. She sets out to find where she can unload "found" goods.

Dharatatak |
The small goblin lingers around at the table slowly sipping on some drink he seems not overly fond of and listens to the discussion of Drink. He has great respect for House Thurashk and this woman seems quite able so having her along seems a pleasant addition to this rag tag group.

Perception check please.
Making your way to Dagger Street, one of the few parts of the port that never closes shop, you see a few merchants willing to keep their stalls open despite the weather and time, in hopes of garnering a few extra crowns.
Perception check please.

Micha, as you come to the T in the hallway, the rooms continue to branch off, there is a slight breeze coming from the right fork, but mostly what you hear as you listen are the sounds of snoring patrons, and occasionally the heated sounds of passion. Passing one door, you can only hope the sounds are coming from the arm-wrestling ogress from earlier in the evening.
Micha d'Jorasco |
Micha stands in the hall a moment longer chewing on her lip. She doubts Poppy has spent enough time around either of them to sniff them out on command. She turns on her heel and makes her way back to the table with the others and speaks to Larra, "My apologies, but I'm not certain which rooms they are occupying and I don't dare knock on random doors. Perhaps in the morning, before we leave?"

The half-orc looks over as the halfling returns to the table. "Probably for the best. Disturbing patrons is a good way to find yourself on the wrong end of a blade or your teeth making an appointment with Smiley's knuckles." Larra pulls some dried jerky from a side pouch and drops it on the floor for Micha's wolverine. "As I'm between work currently, I'm not in any rush."

Dharatatak |
Dharatatak merely shakes his head with a slightly disgusted look on his face. The Brelish Whiskey we were catered earlier was more to my liking. But for the moment I am a man with no funds so this will have to suffice. Then again maybe water would actually be preferable...

Alistair Creed |
"Well alas, it seems I may not get to enjoy your company on our job tomorrow, but like you say, there are always more. At least there's tonight!"
Alistair will say to Larra with a wink.
"Finders Guild eh? Always sounded like a romantic gig until I got to thinking about it, trudging through jungles or prospecting or what have you. Never was too solid with my divinations anyway. Eh, but I get the bad mistakes bit, I'm sure we've all made our fare share. Speaking of, I've got this Spiced Rum recipie that sailors from Xen'drik make. It's got a punch almost as good as that one-armed Orc lady, let's try that one next."
Avicia |
I reckon we can get three aboard if we get the captain on his good side with us, you can come up as a new crewmate or the like and I can vouch for you... Zho can disguise herself easily as an adult and I can carry someone else aboard in the bag so long as they aren't too small... Lead the way this is your job, I just kill things gleefully with my pike and dream of glory on a ship...
Alistair Creed |
Not sure how much longer you wanna stall, Alistairs gonna flirt until he gets to about 8 hours away from the job, then see if Larra wants to come back to his room.
Illyri |
Illyri strides foward toward Avicia, the gear in hand.
Well, well, well. Fancy meeting you here in a place like this, Avicia
