5' step, so no AoO provoked there. If it has reach, I do provoke an AoO with the spell, but I have cover (AC 23) thanks to Snorri and Torvi. Casting shield of faith on Snorri, for +2 to his AC.

"Athànata Kthonà!" bellows Snorri, rotating the axe as magic flows through him. The blow is mighty, fueled by his desire to purify the Azathyr from evil, but unfortunately falls short of the victim.

It does not provoke from Torvi. Strangely, it doesn't have reach.

Snorri's attack misses the creature entirely.

Round 1

Dasur stays put as the nightmarish creature bursts from the ash. He marvels at its immense size and the bravery of their warriors to attack the creature head on.

"Could this be an ancestor of the creatures used by the besieging Drow, Erebos? They clearly reproduce and do not undergo any sort of metamorphosis considering this creature resembles the smaller worms in the egg sacs we encountered earlier. Given we found a dead specimen on the docks, I must wonder if it died of old age or merely starved." The wizard speculates to their dark elf companion.

Well aware of the elemental resistances of the creature's half-fiend nature, Dasur seems content to talk to Erebos while the more martially inclined engage the worm in battle.

Full round action:Talk to Erebos?

All of Dasur's remaining magic is elemental in nature, sadly, and the worms are resistant. He doesn't have any sonic attacks or physical damaging attacks, unless he runs up and tries to beat it to death with his staff. He's got one Grease spell prepared which I will use if things get hairy. This is on you guys!

Whoops, I missed Torvi's post on the previous page. That Dorn Dergar attack missed, or rather hit the creature but didn't penetrate its tough hide.

The hideous flesh mound lashes out at the fiercely holy energy coursing through Snorri, flailing at him with tentacles and rings of teeth. One tentacle snakes its way between two plates of his armor, tearing at flesh. Pain and then numbness radiates from the wound. At the same time, the clawed tail lashes out at Torvi, snapping empty air over her head.

Round 2

Dasur watches their warrior's weapons bounce off the hide of the great worm, and decides he should do something to help. Mulling over his options, the wizard retrieves a scroll from his backpack with rapid precision.

Unfurling the arcane document he reads the words aloud, causing the surface under the worm to become a disgusting mixture of greasy ash.

As the scroll disintegrates between his fingers, he comments to Erebos. "Hmm, that was certainly not one of my scrolls. Opening a microportals to the Elemental Plane of Lard is much more effective at coating surfaces in near-frictionless grease."

Dasur's eyes rapidly flutter open as Iverna gives him a rough shake on the shoulder. A dream about sunrise? Why? Do the gods seek to encourage us? That was no message of any of Torag's pantheon, but it could easily symbolize something else...

Seemingly stuck in a slouched sitting position, the wizard appears to be staring directly into a nearby stone wall for several minutes.

...Yes, given the visions Snorri saw earlier concerning the fall of the titan whose heart we now rest upon, the only logical conlusion is that Sarenrea or her heralds have taken an interest in our journey and are subtly encouraging us through our dreams. Seemingly satisfied, Dasur stops staring at the wall and joins the others to break fast.

"I believe this to be an auspicious day, friends. The gods watch over us, and Dammerhall is nearer than ever before. Let us leave these ruins behind and cross the hils to a glorious future." The wizard drones, seemingly in very high spirits despite almost being killed twice the previous day.

I love the smell of restoring daily abilities in the morning.

Snorri wakes groggingly, rubbing his face with his hands. "I hope your dreams were as propitiatory as mine were uncanny. But I believe that we really are closer to the Lower Azathyr, closer to home and to a future that we are forging ourselves on that glorious anvil that is fate."

”I dreamt of a stout dwarf with an incdredible constitution myself. You know the sort.” Torvi breathes deeply as she thinks of him. ”He was from a long line of brewers, and he smelt of malt and hops. What girl wouldn’t dream of such a man?”
