I merely went with Mongolian because of how it looked. Had all the right and proper amount of angles.
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
That works for me. Though I assumed that Dwarven was the language we all typically spoke in and that we would represent common with some other language.
Ukrim Warmcloak |
That is also very fair, we are a bunch of dwarves so why would we need to speak in anything else?
I think it'll be easier this way though, rather than figuring out a way to may Common a strange language every time we talk to a non-dwarf. I also like the idea that Ukrim speaks very well in Dwarven, it is common that his accent makes everything terrible. :P
@GM - From what I remember, you may attempt up to a DC 10 Knowledge check untrained for Pathfinder. If you get higher than 10, it is still treated as a 10. I'll go checking soon to see if I am wrong, however.
Snorri Tharnhammer |
I believe that you can only attempt DC 10 checks untrained as well.
For the language, perhaps we could say we're speaking Dwarven when just between us, then use Mongolian when we speak it near non-dwarves.
Dasur Deepborn |

I agree with this as well, I assumed we're speaking dwarven in group.
I also like to think Ukrim's accent is perpetual, for some reason :p
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
I sometimes have to read it more than once but I do not have an issue with it. And if it gets too unintelligible I will just nod and agree with you ;)
Snorri Tharnhammer |
No problem with your accent! Myself, I'm not a native speaker, so I'm mostly using plain English. Writing accents is pretty hard.
Ukrim Warmcloak |
I am 100% being lazy and using that English to Scottish slang translator. I just do my own edits if I think that it makes no g#+*!$n sense lol.
Dasur Deepborn |
Dasur is going to be a buff/battlefield control wizard, so there will be more spells where that came from, Ukrim.
Just uh... please protect the squishy, my glorious meatshields.
Ukrim Warmcloak |
I will try. Going to be going down the Jabbing Style feat tree eventually and going to be quite the mobile fighter. I'll be able to (usually) quickly move to the back line if something comes through.
Snorri Tharnhammer |
I should be meatshieldy enough as well, and there are some nice bard spells to divert the enemies' attention.
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
Though lightly armored, at least until I spend a feat on heavier armor, I intend to take Nalnear to the front much of the time. Spiritualists can make brilliant tag teams of violence, as far as I have read. Though it may take her a little while to play show and tell with the voice in her head.
Also I just realized I messed up my spells. I have armor and mage armor as a spell. Opps.
Dasur Deepborn |
The holiday madness continues. Hope it's all treating you well.
I'll be traveling between the 29th and the 1st for New Year's. Might still be able to post but I can't make promises.
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
Yay! Hope you had fun and welcome back.
Ukrim Warmcloak |
Welcome back! We're just waiting on the pretty bald gnome to lead us into glorious danger!
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
Mwahahahaha! Glorious danger! I like this group :D Also welcome back wizard of the randomness!
Snorri Tharnhammer |
Hmm, I wonder if Ivy will be the Snow White to our Seven Dwarves. Or possibly, Ash Grey.
And let's dive headfirst into danger, screaming bloody murder at those filthy creatures desecrating the home of our ancestors! Ah, the Skald is so metal.
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
Hehe :D And Glenda I will try to avoid dying.. at least until you have some spells to deal with that. Try is the important word here though.
Dasur Deepborn |
Also welcome back wizard of the randomness!
Haha, it may seem random but I'm actually emulating the mannerisms of some incredibly intelligent and strange people I have worked with and known in my life. Bosses, professors, classmates, peers, etc...
For instance, in my building there is a brilliant scientist that is obsessed with birthdays and knows every single person's birthday in the building. Within days of a new person being hired he will somehow figure out their birthdays without asking them, and seems to remember them forever.
Sometimes he will make comments to people in the hallway about their age/ask how their birthday was... Needless to say it can freak some people out :p
Ukrim Warmcloak |
I think Dwarven Death Metal should 100% be a thing. They can even take the photos out in the northern forests looking dangerous and edgy too.
I'm enjoying everyone's roleplay so far, I like that we have differing opinions that aren't conflicting bad enough to make us bash heads :D
Snorri Tharnhammer |
So do I!
Except that we haven't heard from Hogun in a bit, are you there?
Also, as one who grew up among mathematicians, I find Dasur's behaviour very familiar
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
I manage so weird behaviors with my average intelligence but I love what you are doing! I have seen it in some people. The really brilliant mathematician I know is a very strange and hilarious man.
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
Poke poke
Nalnera Tharnhammer |
Hehe! I started a poke off :)
Ukrim Warmcloak |
All the poking that has ever been poked. Let the earth quake with our pokings! Let the ground shatter under our power!
Dagmar Tharnhammer |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
If Hogun really has vanished, you might also be able to get one of the other applicants and have then been following after us for some reason and finally catch up, since we have barely started this endeavor.
Ukrim Warmcloak |
I agree with Dagmar, we should grab another applicant if we've lost Hogun. It isn't that far ahead in the campaign and would still work well. Perhaps he wasn't able to make it and there was a last minute change in who was coming with us? :D
GM R0B0GEISHA |
Oooookay. Time to vote on the sins and virtues. Pick your three favorite from both categories and we'll tally up the votes.
VIRTUES
Constructive creativity or innovation that is used to further benefit the Dwarves as a whole is something held in the highest of regards.
Performing a daring or risky act to recover lost lore.
Bringing together the dwarven people in a cooperative effort to build a culture and a legacy through united efforts
Uncovering, documenting, and practicing The Old Ways for the benefit of future dwarfkind.
It is a virtue to always seek knowledge and enlightenment, be it in study, in searching the world around you, or in conversation with your fellow kinsmen.
No dwarf can do everything, but dwarves working together can do anything. This comes together with humility.
When Dallhammer fell, much knowledge was lost. The legacy of Dwarvenkind is disappearing. Whenever Dwarven knowledge is found, it must be shared with Dwarvenkind to help restore the people to where we once stood.
SINS
Complacency is a vile trait that is viewed as one of the worst vices.
Destroying or abandoning lost knowledge or forgotten traditions. To discover knowledge or tradition, only to ensure that it is forever lost is a grave sin.
Forgetting, defiling, or disrespecting the memory, legend, and sacrifices of prior generations
Purposely sharing secret knowledge with non-dwarfs, especially blasphemous if done for personal gain.
It is a sin to willfully ignore any knowledge obtained or to deny the pursuit of such from anyone else.
Those who work against the common good put everyone in jeopardy.
Knowledge that is destroyed is knowledge that may be forever lost. The secrets must be protected, both its physical form and its knowledge. Giving away Dwarven lore for free to other races is a sin, as is destroying a source of lore.
