So you like horses but have Animal Handling 2 and not even Ride 1B at least?
Thrown is Marskmanship specialty in GoT edition.
Language 3 allows you to read and write, otherwise you don't know how.
You are kind of a roguish lordling, that can use spears, but are not going to hit much unles you get Fighting 3.
Persuasion 5 is good, I would drop it to 4 since you have a lot of qualities and specialties to help you with that.
If you do drop it to 4, I suggest getting at least Fighting 3 and Language 3, so at least you can actually write letters...
Darne Naelareon |
Alright, I can see your point. I will adjust all of those things. I didn't realize I needed Language 3 or I would've gotten it so that he would be able to read and write. I'll take the 1B Thrown and change it out with 1B Ride and increase Animal handling to 3. (That should be all the freed up XP from dropping Persuasion from 5 to 4)
The Warlord |
That is one scary bowman that the Blackwoods might feel you out to be serving them lol.
The background is short but to the point.

This character will not win the Joust in a tourney but can get you to Round 4 (final 16), and in the melee it will reap people to shreds...
It also has some capabilities to do some schemes, and if you change bastard, then it's not so bad against higher status characters.

House Naelaron
History
Ser Baevor Naelareon joined with Maegor Targaryen to aid in crushing the Warrior's Sons in [battle name here] during the Faith Militant uprising. For his service, Ser Baevor was awarded land and a title, for he acquitted himself with Valor and Loyalty to the King. Ser Baevor also aided several Victories over other armies of the Faith Militant. Ser Baevor's son, Lord Laegor Naelareon was one of those who bent knee to Rhaenyra in 105 AC, promising to support her rule on the Iron Throne. In 111 AC, he acquitted himself well in the Grand Melee at the tourney in King's Landing, earning favor from the King. Unfortunately, he died in a riding accident returning from King's Landing, Ser Domeric became the head of the House. Somewhat sickly, the house's influence has declined during his tenure to where it is now.

Heh, seems interesting with House Rules
So we get more exp to spend on ranks / specialitiess - so to say - due to lower costs. Should we change our ranks then before ro after the game starts?
Also, I know my character is a bit choppy with his background so will be going it over at somepoint and refining (a bit short and crudely explaining his backstory) And that nemesis... I hope not really something I cant take on :). Also what about statwise
Ah, regarding my position Household Knight. Was thinking also that but do you have something else to suggest? Reflecting the position of my character in the House better or just stay like that
Marcus Stormborn |
Well, since discussion is open and I do find it relevant and also helping GM a lot :)
1) Added EXP/Glory/Coins Page on the House Naelareon
2) Edited the docs a bit for easier reading & seperating the information
3) Trying to work now with Loss mitigation resource panel & House Fortune Roll
(meaning I will try to combine our (a) House Fortune Roll with (b)Resource Loss Mitigation in order to make it smoother and easier to input the information)
4) Added some missing information
Garran Fain |
Once you dot the gameplay thread, you can also delete the post and the campaign will stay in the campaigns tab of your profile.
I am also curious if we should redo our characters to reflect the house rule changes, or if those take effect after play begins.
I think our motto is supposed to be Loyalty, Valor, Glory. I'm calling our seat Naelareon Hall in my backstory, if that helps.
The Warlord |
The initial experience is spend normally.
Those charts are for when you gain EXP during game play, and each ability rank and specialty rank has a cost.
So it is cheap to get to rank 3, but it gets progressively more expensive.
I gave other weapons boost in damage to see some variety of them.
By all means I should leave you as Sworn Sword, you have Status 2 which means you are at the same level as Sworn Swords, Household knights can be also counted as members of the House for some purposes, but you are also retainer. You can fill multiple rolls, but you could also be the House Castellan (general of the troops), but you need to bump your Status to 3, same level as the Heir and other real Household members.
House Max Status is 4
So Lord Naelareon + Lady have status 4.
No confirmed Heir and other family of the lord have Status 3.
Important Household retainers, need status 3
Rest like the Master of the Hunt, Sworn Swords, etc... Status 2
Maester can be anything from Status 2 to Status 3, recommend Status 3 for Intrigue reasons.
Marcus Stormborn |
Understood.
Getting Status 3 (Awareness dropped from 4 to 3). Does House Castellan bring some upgrades to the Domain/House and what would exactly be my work?
Marcus Stormborn |
Made final changes/ adjustments to my character to better reflect my position as a House Castellan
- Agility from 3 -> to 2
- Knowledge from 2 -> 3
- Endurance from 3 -> 2
- Animal Handling from 2 -> 3
- Agi: +1B Dodge -> Know: +1B Streetwise
- End: +1B Res -> Status: +1B Stewardship
- End: +1B Sta -> Animal Hand: +1B Ride
As I get more forward with Marcus and his background + his position: I can imagine him more of bitter & cruel adult who believes in youths of Naelareon house (Darne & Cassondria) although he hates to see them pickering at each other.
Due to background he is especially merciless and cruel toward everyone not doing their job and harsh with his words but extremely loyal & hard working on his job. He is especially believeing in Laws -> more of "literally" type and rewards those who follow things to letter.
This can also been seen in his fulfillment of job and doing work as told. He is doing everything in a good heart but do have tendencies to shake people up along the way
Marcus Stormborn |
I have no idea :D Just seemed like a good idea. I have no idea how much work or relations does House Castellan have with the management to do.
I mean, when I did read about Stewardship
....You can also test Status to oversee improvements on your keep, round up conscripts, hire mercenaries, improve trade, communities, or roads
it seemed like I could also need it as a Castellan for some management. Hah, a Steward :D Would be funny to see one who is more fighting orientated instead of normal Cunning, Knowledge, Persuasion. Otherwise I might change it to +1B Tactics
Actually, I can easily see Marcus liking and favoring Garran for his service plus being straightforward person although he is having his "ideals"
EDIT: @Darne thanks for the notice about stats
Darne Naelareon |
Lol, well I mean in the states it is Memorial day weekend, the weekend of beer and bbqing. Though I wanna say most of the players are in a different time zone then I...you might be in mine or at least carrying the same posting times as I
Marcus Stormborn |
Living in Germany and I got long weekend (Friday till Monday free) so its just party party.... with my Rulebooks hehe
Ah g%!#@~mit, I will change my +1B Steward to +1B Tactics
Garran Fain |
I'm Eastern US time zone. Memorial Day weekend is typically a busy weekend for family in the states, so anyone else in the US is probably busy.
Cassondria Naelareon |
I am here, sorry, less time to post on weekends, also this week is a holiday here, so I'll be on a bit less due to kids taking up my time.
Any adjustments I should make, I don't have particularly high in anything really, except persuasion.
And it's British (BST or GMT+1 through summer) time for me here.
Marcus Stormborn |
I guess we are starting soon with the game so is there still anything we need to consider or plan ?
Cassondria Naelareon |
I should be okay then:
Abilities (starting rank 2) 210xp max 7
Agility: 3
Animal Handling: 2 (Flaw 1D)
Awareness: 3 (Empathy 2B)
Cunning: 3
Deception: 3
Endurance: 3
Knowledge: 3 (Education 1B)
Language: 3
Language: High Valyrian: 2
Marksmanship: 2 (Bows 1B)
Persuasion: 4 (Charm 2B)
Status: 3 (Breeding 1B)
Warfare: 3
Will: 3 (Courage 1B)
I do look to be only at 180xp on base values though, not sure how that happened.
Hmmm, still not sure what happened there, I definitely seem to be 30xp down, do I up Persuasion to 5? or increase either High Valyrian or Will?
Marcus Stormborn |
Damn, already waiting here for the IC to start picking up. Having a bad case of "gameholic" issues I have to admit.
The Warlord |
Well the ball started rolling, Maester Lucen got a raven with a message to attend to, and deliver to his liege lord.
Besides were is your House located?
Near Lannister territory in the coast, since there are some Mountains and could explain the hills but not much of a forest, so you could be around were Oldstones are a bit more South West on the Coast as another NPC house is to the West of Oldstones Castle, the last Ironborn House remaining in the Riverlands.
Marcus Stormborn |
I would say so. There is not so much choice with our domain selection and I do like the idea of being near Oldstones. It does offer some interesting chances for possible expansions & interactions
Matthias Naelaron |
Did I read that someone was indistrious enough to create a compiled document related to our house? If so, where can I find it. Of course I can scour what I've read, but looking for a convenient (read that as lazy) way to get it.
