After a few minutes of inactivity Sariana steps out from the shadow she had retreated to. "This is not working. Kome with me Old One and I will take you to the shaman. If need be I will bring him here myself."

Take Xanos and anyone else who is interested - going first so I can deal with any guards that need dealing with.

To Rose, he says "Let's all stay together."

With his blade out, Molasbar lets Sariana take the lead, and he follows a half dozen paces back. He watches for her to give any signals.

"Okay." Rose lets the vampire lead the way.

Info dump: some room descriptions as you move along.

C10 – An empty nondescript wet cavern.

C11 – This is another wet cavern with a pool of water at its rear. This pool however has a faint glow to it and is surprisingly clear. This pool contains weird pale blue blind cave fish with delicate thread-like spines on their fore fins. DC35 know(dungeoneering) check for more info about the fish.

C12 – This is seemingly yet another wet empty cavern notable only for its very distinctive blue slime mold that covers the western wall. Molasbar notices a small hole that appears to be a tiny tunnel, in the wall.

C14 – An empty nondescript wet cavern.

C15 – This large wet cavern is dominated by two murky pools on either side of a comparatively wet walkway. The muck and slime that coats the floor makes the entire chamber count as difficult terrain. A – This is a particularly large and beautiful cave formation that emerges from the pool. Delicate crystals stud its exterior. (Ignore my previous comment about there being a walkway up. I misread something.)

C16 – The floor of this cavern, save for a walkway around the edge is covered in a mix of mud and boggard manure.From this foul mixture grows a feld of barely edible
mushrooms.

C17 - This chamber contains a pool with fish sized tadpoles swimming in it.

C18 –This wet cavern is full of bones of both animals and sentients.

C20 – An empty nondescript wet cavern.

C21 – This is another boggard fungus farm, exactly as C16.

C22 – The boggards have constructed a crude holding pen here. It is currently empty.

C23 – This large and high-vaulted cave drips with water so constantly it seems as if it is perpetually raining. Fetid pools and luminescent algae combine to give the chamber an ominous greenish glow and a lingering stench. The chamber is dominated by a large and impressive mud and stick hut that is surprisingly sturdy. The entrance is decorated with bones and leather strips cut from dozens of creatures.

The temple itself is a single room almost thirty feet across. Inside, countless bones from those who have died upon the altar decorate the place. A crude stone block is encrusted with old dried blood. Above the block, drawn in vibrant luminescent paint distilled from rare marsh plants, is a mad spiral rune surrounded by countless scribbles of daemonic iconography. Xanos recognizes it as the mark of Dagon.

A wrinkled boggard sits in the hut, rocking back and forth and muttering to himself.He emerges from his trance long enough to stare at you glass-eyed and pronounces in t recognizable common, “The cave of the blue slime conceals your future. Learns its secret or fail at ye master’s charge.”

Suddenly, he leaps to his feet and starts dancing and screaming terrifying croaks about blue slime and the fury of the master. The fire that burns at the center of the temple changes color to blue and he begins to laugh like a mad fiend. The laughter subsides to wheezing croaks and the fire returns to its normal colour.

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Dagon is a demon lord, correct? Should I roll Planes to learn more about him? Is it odd for a demon lord to be worshiped in a place tied to one of the Four Horsemen? As one is NE and the other is CE?

"Hmm. It appears they revere the Quippoth Lord Dagon like most of their kin. They may still also worship the Horsemen. An amalgamated polytheism is not uncommon within unsophisticated cultures. Particularly when the worshiped beings hAve similar end goals. Temperment aside, Dagon and the Horsemen pursue similar ends." Xanos said, taking a moment to look over the shrine. He all but ignores the ranting of the shaman until the flames turn blue. Then the creature had the wizard's full attention. "Haruk, if you would." he said, waiting to see if the sorcerer could get more out of the loathsome frog man.

As Xanos imparts his fell wisdom Albrέkt stands stoically, head slightly cocked askew as he watched the frenzied shaman;

"Perhapsch zhen ze vill bow before Des Blassen Prinzessin... or vun ofz zher Höllisch Lords?"

The ironclad brute shrugs nonchalantly, muttering to all and none;

"If zhey do nicht... I vill paint zhis place in zheir blod, und dress it in zheir offal."

Hmm. Do vampires not have a sense of smell? He unconsciously presses the back of two fingers between his nose and upper lip as his vivid imagination conjures that image. Rather than questioning the brute's decorating preferences, he just murmurs "Perhaps it won't come to that. They would make a good alarm system for us."

Albrέkt eyes the half orc with a curious look;

"Alarm? Tell me Herr Molaschbar... Vud you enter a plaze bedeked in bänder oft entrailz..? I zink nicht..."

When Rose asks about the blue slime cave, Molasbar furrows his brow. "Well, when we were in there, I did see a small hole in the wall, perhaps a tiny tunnel. I assumed it belonged to some kind of vermin; perhaps large rats or centipedes. But maybe there is more to it than that."

You can roll, but Xanos providing the information is fine. This area is below the temple structures. I misread part of the map, there is another entrance. This is the more obvious approach, so it still makes sense to explore it first.

@Rose: You don't see anything particularly interesting, but you're not free to toss the temple or anything.

The wizened boggard calms himself and looks a Haruk, "I am Zikomo Hears-the-Father. You have come to me in my place. My dreams spoke of the coming of those who would restore this place to glory. Are you the dreams made flesh? The Bane-wog would do well were the spire to awaken once more, but know Kumanda Slays-Nine-Men rules the Bane-wog. His will is the will of the tribe. He will not bend to the will of others. He does not see the glory that is to come. He lacks the wisdom of Zikomo."

Albrέkt stands stoically and listens to the words between Haruk and the frog-creature.

At the mention of Kumanda, the vampyr briefly sneers;

Kumanda Tötet-Neun-Männer. Only neun..?

The DC was actually supposed to be 25, so you're good. You recognize the fish as death-angel cave tetras. Their spines are a powerful paralytic poison that the fish use to stun their preferred prey – the tiny white shrimp that share their cave pools and feed on the luminous algae.

The old boggard looks slyly at Haruk, "Kumanda's will is the will of the tribe, but if Kumanda is no more, then Zikomo's will prevails. Kumanda is chief he must fight all challengers to keep power."

Male Human Sorcerer(Infneral) 5/Infernal Disciple 3

Molasbar catches the glance, and unconsciously takes a half step away from the brute, as though he might suddenly decide to start practicing on the person nearest to him.

Venomous fish in the other cave, got it! Molasbar would have pointed that out to the others, so if they have a use for the knowledge, they have it!

Albrέkt catches the look of intent from Haruk, then nods toward Sariana with a crack'ed tooth smile;

"Let der Kleiner Tod (Little Death) schlachten zhier khamapion. Der smallescht vun of Der Knotten felling zhier most brutal. A besser mezzage Ja?"

"Let us make our dramatic entrance then." Xanos said, starting to move through the caves toward the Boggard village.

Zikomo claps his hands and does a little hopping dance.

"Good, good. You will follow Zikomo. Kumanda does not speak the tongue of man."

The boggard shaman leads the party to a cave full of mud huts and calls out a croaking challenge. From the largest and 'nicest' hut emerges a huge specimen of a boggard and a heated, croaking discussion occurs between the two of them. I don't think anyone understands boggard, but let me know otherwise.

Eventually, Zikomo turns his attention back to the party. "Kumanda will not follow the will of the Shadow of the Sea. He says he will soon be Kumanda-slays-ten-men. Who would challenge his right to lead the Bane-wog?"

How long is the walk to Kumanda's cave? I have the scroll of Comprehend Languages, which I assume is 1st level, thus having a duration of 10 minutes. Once we are right outside the entrance to the cave, I will use the Detect Thoughts scroll, targeting the chief. Unsure what the DC is for that. Finally, as we are walking in, I will cast Enlarge Person and Mage Armor on our champion.

Bolster. +2 attack and saves, and 6 temp HP, for 3 rounds.

@Haruk: You have time to use the scroll if you want. Will vs your DC: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

@all: pre-buffing ahead of time is fine, but you should at least make the attempt to make it seem like a fair fight. If you use any overt magic buffs (I'm thinking enlarge person here) Kumanda will get Zikomo to buff him up as well.

Kumanda makes a horrible gurgling sound that you realize must be laughter and heads into his hut. He comes out after a minute carrying a sword as tall as he is. The other boggards gather round to watch the challenge. Kumanda shouts something to them and lets out a horrifying croaking roar, which is joined by the other members of the tribe until the whole cave system echos with their challenge.

The sound is terrifying DC13 will save or be shaken for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds.

Assuming we are ready to go..

He considered casting a spell to bolster Sariana, but held back. He still expected treachery on the part of the boggards, and reserved his limited arcane strength for himself should he need it.

Besides, he was quite curious to see just what this diminutive warrior could do against a foe that wasn't an unsuspecting guard. He stood unmoving with his blade point to the ground and his palms resting on the pommel. A slight smile crossed his face as he thought When the Mitrans fall and the Asmodeans rule this land, gladiator games will definitely be a part of it! He let his mind wander just a little, considering what holy Mitran site might make for a bloody arena grounds.
